Upcoming book, “Lykos”, by new independent author J. N. Ledford, is a supernatural contemporary romance novel with a twist.
Estimated publication in late 2025 or early 2026!
More content to be posted as the date arrives.
--- ☆ ---
“Khalid Hawkins expects a few things when he moves to Haywood County, NC, to take over the cabin he inherited from his late grandfather – old pipes, cleaning up a yard, and maybe some renovations if he can figure them out himself. What comes as a surprise however is when the first storm hits and he hears a crash in the shed outside, only to find a werewolf slumped over in a heap with an arrow gouged into its body.
Fae Holloway expects a few things when she opens her eyes, like a white light to walk into since she just got shot with a silver tipped arrow. Instead, she gets to wake up to a burning pain in her chest, more wolfsbane than she’s ever seen, and bones that feel like they’re ready to dissolve. At least she is still alive, and still in her wolf form, which is likely the only reason she survived to begin with. All her realizations topped off by the wide-eyed stare of the young man poking his head around the corner of the splintered shed door.
The pair are in for more than they realize as they begin to grow closer, unaware that the very people who had driven the werewolf into Khalid’s life weren’t ready to give up on the hunt just yet.”

Dude, you have got to be seriously fucking dense to think Interview With The Vampire wasn't always gay as fuck. It's literally about two dudes that love sucking on body parts living alone and adopting a kid together. That is not a subtle metaphor.

Note
VAs need to stop using fantasy/supernatural themes that they can't commit to. 90% of the time it's a gimmick for the thumbnail or bait for the supernatural romance girlies. I swear I am so sick of audios where the character is described as like "dominant demon boy" and then the actual audio is just the most normal guy ever but with horns. Same with werewolves, vampires, etc. Even whole-ass DRAGONS are getting turned into normal guys because the script has them shape-shifting into humans and just staying that way.
If you want to make an audio about some normal guy, do that! It can still be good if you give him interesting personality traits and a good story. Most VAs lean on it like a cheap gimmick though.

Male vampire x female character (Țepeș x Adriane - Full Moon Motorcycles) - Chapter One (sfw)
Hello all! While I'm finishing up this month's Patreon exclusive for you (m. dragonborn!), here's nearly 7k words of what was supposed to be the first in the Full Moon Motorcycle 'universe'. It's set before Demon's, Oats', and Pumpkin's stories!
I hope you come to love Țepeș as much as I have! He's got an interesting backstory, and although he looks intimidating, he's actually a huge softie under all that muscle and height. If you know Demon from his story, you get to see a different side of him in this, and you'll see why he was so keen not to introduce his human love interest to the gang after this (shitty) behaviour...
This is going to be up on Patreon on early release, but I'm keeping Demon's story back until it's finished so it doesn't spoil things, so keep that in mind if you leave a comment please :)
Content: plus size female character (unaware of the supernatural) is given a helping hand by the owner of a motorcycle shop, and returns later in the day to thank him, only to find half of the Full Moon Motorcycle bikers standing outside the shop that evening and goofing around. When she's offered a ride home, the tall, darkly-clad, silent biker nicknamed Țepeș volunteers to take her on his massive, black Ducati Streetfighter V4...
Wordcount: 6809
Extract:
A dark, scuff-sided delivery moped — unsurprisingly missing its left mirror — clipped her elbow as it sped down the side street, spewing a cloud of nasty petrol fumes strong enough to make her cough. As she cradled her arm against her chest to rub at her elbow, Adriane’s heavy, cotton bag jolted down off her shoulder to catch painfully in the crook of her arm, and she cursed elaborately.
“Watch where you’re going, arsehole!” she yelling after the moped a second later, but they were long gone.
To add insult to injury, she snagged her boot heel on a crack in the pavement and tripped backwards to land hard enough on her ass that all the breath left her body in an inelegant grunt, and she was lucky she didn’t bite her tongue off when her jaw clacked shut under the force of the landing. The straining seams of her ancient and over-full tote bag finally ruptured on impact, and loose sheafs of paper fluttered up and away like white doves into the blustery autumn air.
“Shitting fuck!” she shouted and scrabbled to catch the remaining ones. If all of those pages got away, she’d have nothing to show at the interview — for which she was now probably going to be late — and there was no way they’d take her seriously without some kind of portfolio. And boy did she need this job.
“You ok there?” a rough, bass voice asked from right behind her. “Here, lemme help you.”
“My stuff,” Adriane choked out around a sob without turning around. “Shit…” Tears of raw frustration, tinged with exhaustion, filled her eyes and she bowed her head, willing herself not to burst into tears on the sidewalk outside some gritty-looking motorcycle shop in the back street of this new and relatively unfamiliar town.
“Here, come on. Let’s get you up.”
“What’s the fucking point?” she groaned, but she did get her legs under her and let the stranger help her to her feet with a kindly hand at her elbow. He released her and stepped back, and she smoothed the floaty, floral-printed, chiffon skirt down over her curvy thighs and tugged irritably at the hem of her cropped denim jacket before looking up at her rescuer for the first time.
She found an older man moving away to a respectful distance now that she was upright, and she regarded him a little warily. He wasn’t particularly tall or threatening though, with his wavy, salt and pepper hair falling scruffily around his ears and just brushing the collar of his blue-and-white-checked shirt. He had a short, grey beard, kind, smiling brown eyes and a significant barrel-belly. He also looked like maybe the kind of guy who rode a Harley and took no nonsense when pushed, but he seemed harmless enough as he steadied her and then stepped back another pace.
Adriane looked along the street and saw that one of the pages of her portfolio had landed face-down in a puddle, and the rest were lost to the wind. “Fuck,” she said again. She was forced to clutch the torn remnants of her bag to her chest to keep its remaining contents together, which felt like a metaphor if ever she’d known one.
“What’s wrong?” the man asked, raising his head slightly and breathing in as if he’d caught the scent of a familiar perfume. As he did, his hazel brown eyes caught the light oddly and seemed to flash amber. “You hurt yourself?”
“I’m good,” she said automatically, then added with a gesture at the soggy pages, “That was my portfolio though. I just got it printed this morning, and I don’t have the time or the money to get it printed again. My interview starts in —” she glanced at the old, analogue wristwatch on her left wrist. Only now, after the fall, it was cracked. Well, at least it wasn’t some fancy smartwatch. None of those for her with her bank account idling somewhere in the low double figures. “— twenty-eight minutes.”
“How fancy are we talking?” he asked and she frowned, confused. The man jabbed his thumb over his shoulder and explained. “I’ve got a fairly decent printer in the shop for flyers and stuff. If you’ve got a thumb drive with the files on, you can print it off here.”
She blinked. Miracle of miracles, she did actually have the USB drive in her jacket pocket. “You serious? I can’t pay you.”
“I didn’t ask you to,” he said with a hearty smile. “C’mon. Time’s wasting and you ain’t got long.”
Adriane bit her lip, moved by the kindness of this complete stranger, and followed him into the bike shop.
Read the whole thing right now over on Patreon, and consider joining the Little Ghosties tier for access to this month's Patreon exclusive story, as well as my entire back catalogue of Patreon exclusive content.

Summary
In a last bid to try to repair her shattered relationship with her daughter Cissie, Bonnie purchases an old mansion on a hill. Cissie wants to believe that her mother has changed, she wants to believe that she can move on from being Arrowette, but it's not just houses that are haunted and sometimes the dead aren't quite what they seem.
Soon after moving into the Hayes Manor, an old mansion and site of a gruesome murder that took place in 1948 Cissie finds herself befriending one of the victims and together they find something that might be more than friendship - all the while Cissie unravels the mystery of 1948 while juggling trying to be a normal teenager.
Should be easy, right?
Excerpt
Bonnie drummed her fingertips on the wheel as the weight of what her daughter said hit her. “It’s not the same world I grew up in,” she sighed. “There’s a lot more craziness in the world. Supervillains used to be isolated to one or two wackos per hero, now it's quadruple that. Now it's cool to be Doomsday on the playground. It's normal business to capitalize on someone's death - make damn video games about it and rent his snuff film at Blockbuster for a buck ninety-nine. The depravity of the world is sickening Cis, I just wanted to give you the tools to protect you from it.”  Cissie had a different recollection of her mother’s motives and she bit her tongue from reminding Bonnie that the second she got her father’s insurance money she enrolled her in a revolving door of schools and lessons ranging from ballet to karate and twelve other martial arts during a time when all she wanted to do was grieve. She could do a pirouette while balancing a stack of books on her head and end it with a kick strong enough to shatter collarbones all while reciting Shakespeare and Ovid. It was a time of both isolation and suffocating control where she had no sense of self or autonomy other than what name she wanted her mother to use when she criticized her ‘performances’.  She bit the words back and instead she choked out an awkward cough when she saw a decrepit wooden sign with peeling green paint peering around unkempt juniper bushes. Even though they were faded, the letters were clear in their white cursive script.  H A Y E S  M A N O R  “That’s the house right mom?” Cissie asked and Bonnie slowed down as she turned a sharp corner. The house was finally visible then, dark and lonely, nestled on several acres of ill-kept land. If Cissie wasn’t actively looking for the house, she might have missed it in the swaths of colorful trees and green ivy crawling over it.
Cissie frowned.  She expected old, she expected secluded, but she did not expect decrepit and totally isolated from humanity. “That’s the house?” she said, doubt dripping between each word.  “I told you it needed a little landscaping done girlie. Trust me, she’s beautiful on the inside.” Bonnie pulled up next to two moving vans that had been waiting for her. “Good, they got started already!”  Cissie still couldn’t help but stare at the wall of ivy that made the house look like a dungeon from one of Bart’s video games. Each window was like black ice cast against the green, but in one she could have sworn she saw movement. Brushing it off as seeing one of the curtains, Cissie got out of the car.

I Met a Girl in the Graveyard
Kaz Pine has spent three years as a groundskeeper in a historical graveyard, and she's never once seen a ghost. Still hurting from her recent breakup, she impulsively decides to sabotage an investigation led by famous ghost hunters, where she meets the enigmatic Lucy, who's just as excited to get in on the trouble. Their fun is cut short when Kaz's cat Renfield escapes, upending the hunters' ouija board and ruining their night -- as well as her standing at work. Over the next few weeks, she does her best to keep her head down while spending her nights with Lucy. But as time passes, Renfield's behavior changes for the worse, and she can't keep excusing Lucy's odd behavior forever. Try as she might to pass off everything with rational explanations and leaps in logic, Kaz won't be able to cling to her skepticism for much longer -- both for her own sake, and for the people she loves.
Genre: Comedy, Supernatural, WLW Romance, Sight Horror.
Themes and Tropes: Friends to lovers, personal growth, dumb lesbians, gay and bisexual main characters. An old cat as a major supporting character. Ghost hunters. Jock MC. Halloween/Autumn vibes.

Whoops! Forgot to post this as a preview image yesterday, but I'm here with the actual issue today! Please enjoy the new character illustration. (Haven't painted up this guy before. He's one of my stealth faves.)
Still a sort of transitional issue this time. We're easing out of the previous arc and setting up for the next (and final) third of the story. I very much hope you enjoy it! As always, comments/critique are vastly appreciated.

Does anyone else remember these books? They are from the '90s by the author of The Vampire Diaries. I always preferred her Night World series.
