I was playing the Supergrafx version of Daimakamura (Ghouls n' Ghosts) on my TG-16 mini... and FFS... people who think Souls games are hard have no idea. I remembered the game being unreasonably hard but even with save states and the TG-16's turbo buttons I can't even beat the first boss. Pretty sure that game is made by the actual, literal devil.
Looks absolutely stunning still one of the most appealing art designs in a 2d capcom game but absolutely the antithesis of fun to play.

Types of console backwards-compatibility
Console B is essentially an updated form of Console A. This usually guarantees close to 100% compatibility, but boxes in the capabilities of Console B.
ColecoVision with Atari 2600 (unauthorized)
Atari XEGS with Atari's previous 8-bit computers
Atari 7800 with Atari 2600
GameGear with Master System
SuperGrafx with PC Engine
GameBoy Color with GameBoy Classic
DS with GameBoy Advance
Wii with GameCube
Wii U with Wii
3DS with DS (i)
Console B is a completely different system than Console A but has Console A's hardware onboard, making it a sort of hybrid system. This generally gets the job done as far as backwards-compatibility is concerned, but requires more hardware, and may not be worth it if interest in Console A wanes or its own patrons are not interested in what Console B has to offer.
APF Imagination Machine with the APF MP-1000
Commodore 128 with Commodore 64
Genesis with Master System
Early PS2 units with PS1
GameBoy Advance with GameBoy (Color)
Early PS3 units with PS2
Console B has an emulation-based compatibility layer with Console A. This has the least reliable backwards compatibility and is done almost entirely in the name of brand synergy.
Early OS X with Classic Mac OS
Windows NT 3.1-XP with MS-DOS
Later PS2 units with PS1
Xbox 360 with original Xbox
PS3 with PS1 (and later models with PS2)
PS5 with PS4
Xbox One with Xbox 360 and original Xbox
Xbox Series X with previous Xbox consoles

PC Engine - Blodia (Time Ball)
Title: Blodia / ブロディア
Developer/Publisher: Manuel Constantinidis / Broderbund Software / Hudson Soft
Release date: 23 February 1990
Catalogue No.: HC90027
Genre: Puzzle
Format: HuCard
It's hard for me to write an impartial review for Blodia, as this type of puzzle game drives me insane. This is a variation of a puzzle game that began life on the Texas Instruments TI-99/4A computer. It is frustrating beyond belief and I would probably damage something if I had to play it for a long time. Technically it's fine. Graphics are not great, but there's not much scope for eye candy here, and the music is surprisingly calm and easy to listen to. This is the kind of game where you have to think and plan ahead very fast - sort of like playing chess with a five-second time limit for each move. If you are the kind of person who enjoys this sort of thing, then you will probably like Blodia. But if you are like me then you will hate it with a passion and should avoid it like the plague. Tetris I can handle. Blodia I can't.
By the way, you may notice that my Japanese copy has some French stickers on it. Well, little did you know that the PC Engine despite being an import-only system was massively popular in France! France really loved the PC Engine so much that they even got all the hardware revisions and games for it, including some of the rather overpriced SuperGrafx games.

My NEC PC Engine / TG-16 games have been installed on the Polymega. 35 TG-16, 12 TG-16 CD, 24 PCE, 14 PCE CD, and 6 SuperGrafx, with only 2 additional failures. That was the last system for me to have installed something for everything it supports, save for a few PAL platform variations. #polymega #nec #pcengine #tg16

Macho Nacho repairs and restores the SuperGRAFX "A Console You Never Heard Of"
In this video I repair and restore a rare video game console called the SuperGRAFX. This console was a market failure, but that’s what makes it so interesting. This is an extremely thorough restoration that took over 8 hours to complete. Once I’m done with refurbishing the console, it’s better than new!
