Tabuu is a demigod, meaning he's half mortal half God. His mother died during childbirth and his father wanted nothing to do with him. Galeem the Goddess of Light took him in but very quickly handed him off to her young servants, Master Hand and Crazy Hand, much to Master's annoyance. Young Master Hand (named "Right" at the time) cared about nothing more than growing his skills and gaining as much power as possible and saw Tabuu as a nuisance. Unfortunately Tabuu was quick to attach himself to Master and looked up to him so fondly that he vowed to become a great creationist just like him. Master Hand trained him in the art of creating...unfortunately, like most things Tabuu did, he sucked at it (I mean have you seen the Subspace Army designs and names). Eventually Master Hand had enough of it and abandoned him, claiming he would only slow him down. This would be a mistake he would never forgive himself for, nor be able to forget.

Tabuu obsessed over this loss and loathed the way Master grew and created a well known and thriving dimension full of powerful mortals that loved him. He wished, needed that to be him.

~ Cue Subspace Emissary ~

He was able to survive his original defeat by just a small part of him clinging onto Master Hand's soul. Over time it grew and overtook his core like a parasite, leading to Mastercore. The smashers had to completely shatter Master Hand's core in order to rid the world of Tabuu, killing them both in the process.

Luckily Crazy and Master practically being one half of a whole means that they can regenerate each other's cores yippee! Tabuu is definitely dead tho lol.
