Had a bit of surprise this morning with planning my Golden Week trip to Niigata-shi when I realized I’d booked a Super Hotel in Arai-Niigata and not the city proper. It’s almost 2 hours away, and while I could have decided to take trains into the city, that’s just honestly ridiculous to me.I want this vacation to be relaxing: commuting a two-hour trip to get to my destinations isn’t relaxing.
(Though darn, I did loose out on the delicious looking free breakfast at the Super Hotel. Bonus: I’m now near a Yoshinoya. Just like in Tokyo, it’ll become my best friend all over again. Plus, I’ll stock up at the conbini before check-in. And hey, there’s an Ito Yokado, so i can flex that Nanaco!)
I’m not sure what made me check today, but I’m glad I did.
With Golden Week looming nearer, I would have been in a place to either commute or just cancel my plans and go to Sendai or somewhere on a day trip.
Thankfully, I was able to book at the Country Hotel Niigata, which is located more to the areas I’d be traveling, but about 1.5 km from the station. I’ll most likely take a quick taxi in the mornings there or find out what bus is nearest to me. I’ll be tackling that day of, anyways, when I buy a bus pass for the duration of my trip.
Somehow, my fee for my stay dropped from 24,720en to 20,700en, which leaves extra money for taxis to and from the station. It’s only 1.7 km, so I’m estimating that 4000en will be enough, especially sine I’m near four north bound and two southbound bus stops right out in front of my hotel, all of which will get me around easily. Yay for saving money, but even more yay for a solid gut feeling.
I’m still ultimately lucking out in hotel fees for someone who’s staying in Japan for Golden Week, I feel, but whew! Whatta relief!
(On the other hand, looks like I’ll be taking an early bus out of the city for sure, though hopefully, a later return back to Fukushima!)
