Back with a short one but ironically it's the one l've spent the longest planning // researching for. Tbh, this one took the longest because there were 3 drafts of this bc of different ideas (I might use them later on or not I’m not really sure atm), me googling “romantic things to do daily”, and genuinely just hours of planning this.

Although it’s a short, it’s a good one AND I just thought of an amazing idea what if I posted stories for each hour?? When All the Stars Align Talon Abraxas

Next month, on June 3, there will be a planetary alignment that may actually allow you to witness six planets align in the sky. This is a rare astronomical phenomenon. So, if you were not present for the breathtaking show of the northern lights a few weeks ago, you may have another opportunity to see something really unique in the night sky.

It is the best opportunity to see Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune all at once in the sky due to the planetary alignment.

Upcoming conjunctions

May 31, 2024: Mercury-Uranus

On May 31, at 01:24 GMT (May 30, 9:24 p.m. ET), Mercury will pass 1°21' from Uranus in the constellation Taurus. The planets will be above the eastern horizon in the morning. This conjunction will be difficult to see from either hemisphere, as the planets will be obscured by sunlight. Also, Uranus isn't visible to the naked eye and requires optics.

June 4, 2024: Jupiter-Mercury

On June 4, at 10:04 GMT (06:04 a.m. ET), Jupiter will pass 7'04" from Mercury in the constellation Taurus. Unfortunately, the conjunction will be difficult to see from most locations because the planets will be too close to the Sun. You can try your luck and look for them low over the northeastern horizon in the morning. Use the Sky Tonight app to find the planets in the sky.

July 15, 2024: Mars-Uranus

On July 15 at 09:22 GMT (05:22 a.m. ET), Mars will pass very close (0°33') to Uranus in the constellation Taurus. From the Northern Hemisphere, the planets will be visible high above the eastern horizon in the morning, about an hour before sunrise. From the Southern Hemisphere, they will be a little lower, in the northeastern direction. You'll need at least a pair of binoculars to see Uranus.

August 7, 2024: Mercury-Venus

On August 7, at 17:23 GMT (1:23 p.m. ET), Mercury will pass 5°42' from Venus. Venus will be in the constellation Leo, while Mercury will be on the border of Leo and the small constellation Sextans. Because the planets will be close to the Sun, they will be difficult to observe. You can try to see them in the evening, low in the west.

August 14, 2024: Mars-Jupiter

On August 14, at 14:45 GMT (10:45 a.m. ET), reddish Mars will pass just 0°18' from bright Jupiter. This beautiful duo will be visible to the naked eye in the constellation Taurus. Considering the brightness of both planets, the distance between them, and their visibility, this conjunction can be considered the best of the year. From the Northern Hemisphere, Mars and Jupiter will be visible from about midnight until morning, rising high above the eastern horizon. In the Southern Hemisphere, the planets will rise in the northeast in the morning, a few hours before sunrise.

you recollect memories of your past meetings and you fail to find a moment similar to how he caresses your skin at this very time. soft sounds of your clothes being discarded was drowned out by swishes of the ocean. sand crystals tickling your bare skin as he towers over your nearly unclothed body.

the beach was empty of souls and you knew your prayers had been heard. the sun began to set hours ago, families and friends hurrying to their homes leaving you all alone. waiting for the very man who tortured yet healed your soul.

"kiss me properly," you stutter when his thin fingernails prod at your lips. "i've been waiting all evening."

he scoffs to this statement, smiling briefly knowing the effect he had on you, your mind, and your body.

"you think you deserve it?" he whispers, an octave dropping and your heart begins acting under his command. his fingers wander to your back, playing with the elastic of your bra strap as he leans in to leave reddening marks on your neck.

and for another sunset, he left your lips cold.

the following morning you decide to visit the beach during sunrise. the honey sun was a new sight for you as your feet carried you through the salty sand and all the way to the familiar waves. only stray boulders and welcomed crustacean creatures kept you company.

your thoughts once again drifting to the man you loved to visit at sea. he made you feel things you couldn't name, things you couldn't quite comprehend. the way he touched you in the most intimate places, places which you never let a soul touch you before. the way he lured your body into a tantalizing state of mind with his seductive, enticing words.

just sitting here alone, basking in the sun's glory you feel an ache for his presence.

when you reach your hand out to dip into the silky waters, you question yourself, question your reasoning. however, when a familiar head of honeyed blond hair arises from the pits of liquid blue, his head tilted back and water droplets accentuating his built shoulders through a white tunic—the answer comes to you naturally.

you long for the water drops on your bare body as jake makes love to you in the moonlight. his pale blue, misty eyes peering up into your gaze when he pleasures you feverishly. a compassionate, yet thirsty desire in his eyes as he makes you his.

he reaches out for you from the ocean. in just a moment, your body is against his and he's brushing his hands over your features to cup your cheekbones in his grasp. his cold, wet jewellery pressing into your flesh.

"kiss me," jake whispers this time. "i've been waiting all my life."

fighting the urge to break down in his arms, you lean against him and kiss him as hard as your body would let you. numbing feelings and unsaid emotions are felt as you share breaths and after a while he groans, pulling away to burrow his layered locks into your collarbone.

"stay," his voice softer as he mumbles. "i'll take you with me."

he lifts away from you to meet your watery eyes. not much thought goes through your head as you nod profusely, willing to go anywhere as long as you're with him.

a cute smile appears on his puffy lips before he interlocks your fingers and begins takes you further under the ocean...

Planetary Days and Hours - Commentary

If you're familiar with planetary magic, you may have seen the Table of Planetary Hours. It's usually split into two--one for day and one for night.

Designed to help magicians time their rituals and spells for best results, the tables usually look something like this:

Despite the fact that I use these tables semi-regularly, I never cared to take a dive into their mechanics until recently.

For that reason, today we're going to talk about planetary hours and how they're calculated. 

Let's start with the classical order of the planets. This method, which reaches back to Hellenistic times, is based on how fast the seven classical planets appear to move through the sky. It's become the de facto standard and is called the Chaldean Order. It goes as follows:

Sun 

Venus 

Mercury 

Moon 

Saturn 

Jupiter 

Mars 

How do we use it? Let's take an example.

To make things easy, let's choose Sunday. Its ruling planet is the Sun first on the list. To calculate planetary hours, we need to find the number of minutes between Sunday's sunrise and sunset, then divide by 12. This gives us the length (in minutes) of a single daytime planetary hour.

We repeat this process for the minutes between Sunday's sunset and Monday's sunrise. This gives us the length of a single nighttime planetary hour. With the exception of Equinoxes, the lengths of a daytime and nighttime hour will differ. 

Why divide by 12 and not, say, 7 for the number of planets? The simplest and most practical answer I can give is two-fold: 

12 allows 24 full cycles of planetary hours across seven days, allowing us to continually loop back to the Sun on Sunday.

Using 12 makes for cleaner timekeeping without fractional minutes. 

Alright, so we have the theory out of the way. Let's continue with our Sunday example to plot out the planetary hours.

For easiest math, let's say this particular Sunday is an Equinox. Say that sunrise is at 07:00, sunset is 12 hours later at 19:00, and Monday's sunrise is the following morning at 07:00. 

Daytime Hours 

19 – 7 = 12 (this tells us the number of hours) 

12 * 60 = 720 (this tells us the number of minutes) 

720 / 12 = 60 (this tells us how long each hour is) 

Nighttime Hours 

19 – 7 = 12 (Sunday's sunset minus Monday's sunrise) 

12 * 60 = 720 

720 / 12 = 60 

For the Sunday Equinox, the Daytime and Nighttime hours will both be 60 minutes each. 

Now we assign the planets in Chaldean order, starting with Sunday's ruling planet: 

Daytime Astrological Hours 

07:00 – Sun  

08:00 – Venus  

09:00 – Mercury  

10:00 – Moon  

11:00 – Saturn  

12:00 – Jupiter  

13:00 – Mars  

14:00 – Sun  

15:00 – Venus  

16:00 – Mercury  

17:00 – Moon  

18:00 – Saturn  

Nighttime Astrological Hours 

19:00 – Jupiter  

20:00 – Mars  

21:00 – Sun  

22:00 – Venus  

23:00 – Mercury  

00:00 – Moon  

01:00 – Saturn  

02:00 – Jupiter  

03:00 – Mars  

04:00 – Sun  

05:00 – Venus 

06:00 – Mercury 

Notice that Mercury is the final planetary hour for Sunday. If you look at the Chaldean Order, the next planet on the list is the Moon. If you take a look at the table above, you can see that the Moon is Monday's ruling planet. This means we can simply continue ordering the planets without any interruption or overlap.

This is true all the way to Saturday, whose final hour on the nighttime table is Mars. This means that for the first planetary hour on Sunday, we would assign the Sun. This means that each day's ruling planet will never change, producing this correspondence list:  

Sunday: Sun 

Monday: Moon 

Tuesday: Mars 

Wednesday: Mercury 

Thursday: Jupiter 

Friday: Venus 

Saturday: Saturn 

Okay, sweet. We've figured out how the table is put together. But what are the uses of such a table? What can we do with planetary hours?

Simply put, the planetary energies add a little extra power to your magic. A thorough grounding in astrology is not required, but a familiarity with each classical planet helps. 

At an orbital level (pun not intended), this is a description for each planet: 

Sun: 

Planet of consciousness and outward expression. 

Rules over vitality, ego, self-expression, leadership, and creativity. 

Influences success, visibility, and personal growth. 

Venus: 

Planet of love and pleasure. 

Rules over love, art, beauty, adornment, decoration, social graces, affection, harmony, and friendship. 

Influences the higher emotions. 

Mercury: 

Planet of intellectual energy, mental activity, and communication. 

Rules over intelligence, perception, reason, memory, speaking, and writing. 

Influences the way you see, hear, understand, and assimilate information. 

Moon: 

Planet of the unconscious and inward expression. 

Rules over emotions, intuition, and receptivity. 

Influences healing, creativity, intuition, and nurture. 

Saturn: 

Planet of responsibility, diligence, self-control, limitation. 

Rules over patience, stability, maturity, and realism. 

Influences trial and difficulty, especially that which challenges and strengthens character. 

Jupiter: 

Planet of good luck, optimism, success, and generosity. 

Rules over knowledge, higher learning, vision, honesty, joy, and abundance. 

Influences a willingness to partake of life, gathering new experiences, expanding, and how to get the best out of life. 

Mars: 

Planet of physical energy. 

Rules over energy, boldness, willpower, sex drive, forcefulness, and aggression. 

Influences action, ambition, desire, courage, and strength. 

At the end of the day, this manual calculation is helpful for knowing the theory behind why it works, but you don't have to manually calculate planetary hours every day. There are several apps that do this for you. My favorite is Time Nomad for iOS, as the home screen widgets tell you pretty much all you need to know:
