Right, GFL2 is out, I guess I should try it but I really have no faith in Sunborn to make a good game after gfl and neural cloud.

the fact that luke should, logically, be crazy popular, as the sunborn champion, (second) best warrior cadet in the border camp (i’m rightfully counting him after serene), etc, but he isn’t, is so funny to me. he had everything going for him but on the first day of camp he grabbed the out of touch elf girl and the short, angry, obnoxious redhead with the weird clothes and said “they’re mine now,” and thus began his reputation as the intense gay kid. how luke sunborn became part of the weirdo table i will never know.
(likewise, how did elliot have so much game?? they really turned the popular kid/nerd trope on its head and i love them for that thank you srb)

White Light
Hello darlings! Today's story was brought to you by L! Darling, thank you so much for all your support!
Prompt: THIS SONG

Sunborn AU
+++
The first fight they encountered was with what Zan called a ghoul.
Riah had seen them in Alisa’s books. No one knew exactly where they were from, but they appeared one day, long ago, the only thing everyone agreed on was that they were one of the most fearsome monsters on the continent. Powerful, magic-resistant, and voracious, when a ghoul came into town or hit a trade caravan, there were few survivors.
Riah looked at it, charging towards them, and let her rage off the chain for the first time.
Magic thundered around her, hot and white as the Sunlight Sword, worn over her shoulders across her back, answered to her fury. Sunlight could be soft and gentle. It could be the first kiss of spring.
It could also be the punishing enemy that killed in the desert, and left little that dared appear while the sun was high.
She was ready to be a nightmare even Kratch would learn to fear, for the very short time she left him alive.
“Look out!” Zandithas called to her, his sword and knife in hand. He was good, very good, and had begun teaching her to use the Sword in addition to her magic, but he wasn’t good enough to face a ghoul. “We have to get out of here!”
“I’m not going anywhere,” Riah said, cold despite the sunlight that radiated off her in white waves so hot that the undergrowth around her began to smolder, and then caught flame. The ghoul howled and came at her, but Riah held her ground with the might of her magic, barely restrained, in her hands. “I came to kill monsters. That’s what I’m gonna do.”
Zan yelled something else, but she was too focused on her magic.
After almost six months, learning from Alisa and then studying her spellbook, it was time to stretch her muscles for real. If she couldn’t take a single ghoul, she sure couldn’t take Kratch, and she meant to watch him burn from the inside out.
Went he ghoul crashed into her magic, a shockwave exploded outward. Zan flew into a tree hard enough to stun him, and the ghoul’s roar turned into a sudden, frightened whine of confusion.
“That’s right, I’m stronger than you,” Riah said, and closed her fists around the white power on her skin. “I’ve read about your kind, and I know what sunlight really is. I know your weakness.”
The white light in her hands took on an eerie blue tinge as she compressed it in her hands, and into tight chains around the ghoul, which howled again, this time in fear and pain. It struggled against her, so strong it could have escaped if she had it wrapped in anything other than pure sunlight, but ghouls didn’t like the bright light of day,
When it was captured, helpless under her power, Riah pulled the Sunlight Sword off her back and approached the ghoul with the long blade in her hand. A shadow detached from the undergrowth and joined her. Zan, limping, but on his feet with his blades ready.
“What are you going to do with it?” he asked her warily. His eyes were wide as he stared at the ghoul. He was so handsome Riah almost let the spell slip at the sight of him, lit by toxic sunlight, but she gave herself a mental kick before the spell could waver. She might like Zan, or at least she was attracted to him, but she was on a mission. Maybe after, if he didn’t try to betray her, she would reconsider. “Will you kill it?’
“Can it do anything but be a monster?” Riah asked and eyed the ghoul speculatively. “Alisa is no good at the kind of magic that controls minds.”
“You could try blood-binding it, but it may not have enough mind for that.” It was no surprise that he suggested that. Kratch had him blood-bound. He knew how effective it was. “It does take enough understanding to know what a command is.”
“Maybe something new from my world,” Riah said, and allowed herself a hard, cruel smile as she thought of the video games and books she had read. Of the mind control they so often used. It was the domain of villains, but then, she was on a mission to murder a man. It hardly seemed time to quibble over a little thing like mind control. “How smart are they?”
“About as clever as a clever goat.”
“I don’t know much about goats,” Riah admitted, but se approached the ghoul and pulled out the knife on her hip. The one her father bought her, what felt like a lifetime ago. “But I’m getting the hang of magic.”
Alisa’s spellbook had plenty of runes that meant all sorts of things. When combined, they were a language. With the right word-choice, that language could change the world.
With the steadiness of the Sword’s white light in her hands, she cut the runes for control and obedience and permanence into the ghoul’s forehead. It struggled, but she leaned on the impossible strength of the Sword and held it fast. Blackish blood trailed down its face, but the runes lit with hot blue light, and sealed into fresh scars.
When she freed it from the chains of white radiation that bound it, the ghoul stood before her, shaken and cowering.
“There,” she said with a hard, satisfied smile at her first attempt at mind control. Then again, this was probably more like a compulsion. She wasn’t really sure the right words for it. “You’re not going to refuse me now, are you?”
The ghoul whined and cowered further, but when she snapped her fingers at it, it followed her at her heels.
“That ought to make an impression,” she told Zan, who was staring at her, almost as afraid as the ghoul, but with new respect, and a hint of what she tentatively thought might be the same attraction she felt for him. “Come on. We have a long way to go. Maybe if we’re lucky, we’ll find a few more ghouls on the way.”

I absolutely love the tiny little headcanons or thoughts about mia in the comments , would you mind telling us more 😭 ranting or more I don't mind we just love to hear it
Hehe the Mia brainworm is still at an early stage, it needs to grow so I can get more ideas for it.
So I talked to @sunborn-tenacity and we came up with some ideas
I've seen a post where op had thoughts about Mia having a one sided love for the og MC and that this is the first time that MC actually picked her.
I love the angst of "I'm in love with my bestie who never picked me and suddenly in this lifetime they see me"
The contrast between Miranda's:
og!MC is the only one that matters, this new MC is just a vessel for me to make sure they become their former self. So they can die, pick another person, that's insignificant to me, they WILL become my old MC.
Vs
Mia's:
I'm still in love with og!MC but I've never seen an opportunity to be with them, so I had my grief over it and now I'm just kinda trapped in this quest to "help" Miranda, when in reality I just want the best for my friend.
This new reincarnation is not them, it's not the same person anymore... And yet, I can't help but feel for them.
I also like to think that Mia's route would have some kind of flashbacks as Miranda's had.
But the big difference is, while in Miranda's route you get very overwhelming and invasive flashbacks the more you are with her, to the point you can't enjoy or be present. In Mia's route you'll get glimpses, feelings, of familiarity and random images, but they aren't violently forced on your brain. And Mia is the one who will probably have memories violently shaking her brain.
While MC falls for Mia, Mia is very torn apart by her old and new feelings. Realizing she didn't fully grieve the old MC.
Her route will start in the middle of Miranda's or before Miranda's route.
Her bad ending could be that Mia can't deal with everything after MC takes the worst decisions known to man. (I don't think Miranda is gonna do much at the beginning, since she doesn't even take Mia into account as a rival for MC at all. But if things become more obvious, by the end she will intervene)
And I think Mia will get to that crazy disassociation where she will go "alright, this is not real, MC wouldn't pick me. So let's get over with this" and kills MC or hands them to Miranda so they can reset the loop early.
The neutral ending would be something like Mia just pushes MC back to Miranda's route and disappears
The good ending would be that Mia would accept MC's feelings and they will try to do something to stop Miranda. But fail.
And you think the loop has been reset and you have to start the game again but this time there is a new option at the beginning, one that will lead you to the Mia route without having to get into Miranda's first.
If I'm delulu enough, I can imagine other characters helping them as well (coff coff Bela coff) since most want the curse to be lifted, and there are only two love interests that remember the loops (Donna and Bela) I guess it would depend on your relationship with them. But I bet Bela would take any chance at getting free from the curse and helping her family even if she doesn't get you too.
So I would love if they play around with the game files in a very ddlc and make Mia's route as unnerving as Miranda's but somehow less cold and cryptic and more hopeful.

GFL2's Gacha System (in CBT3)
Yep, it's Genshin.
Identical five star rates to Genshin and Star Rail. 0.6% base rate for five stars, soft pity exists, hard pity at 80. You have a 50% chance of getting the rate-up character when you pull a five star, and if you lose that 50%, your next 5-star will be a rate-up character. I assume this carries between character banners like Genshin.
There is a limited character banner, limited weapon banner and permanent standard banner.
There is a live-updating pity counter on the rate-up page that counts down as you pull and approach hard pity.
Hope you're excited to see this a lot.
Can't say I'm that enthused about this, however, I have some hope Mica might be more generous than Hoyo is with this framework. It isn't the worst gacha system out there, but it certainly isn't one of the more pro-player ones either. It really all depends on how many pulls we're given on a regular basis. This system could also potentially change in the full release of the game, so keep that in mind.
If you want to see the gacha in action, as well as gameplay from CBT3, you can watch Ceia's stream VOD of playing through it below. I've linked it with a timestamp to the gacha section for convenience.

Tears waiting to be diamonds spoilers
Place your bets now as to why sunbrat went on a break prior to the events of Tears Waiting to be Diamonds:
Is it…
1) a genuine issue that is worth breaking up over permanently, possibly related to some of their argumentative and less than communicative tendencies in In Other Lands
2) Elliot forbade Luke from competing in the Sunborn Championship again, and he did, again, and he won, again. (Hey, Elliot is 24, meaning it’s been exactly 10 years since the last Sunborn comp… but yet they referred to Luke as the Sunborn champion… just saying, about time for the next one)
3) Luke wants kids, Elliot wouldn’t compromise, ergo the commander exiled him to tutor kids as a sick joke… but also playing long-game relationship mediator. (I already know this is so off-base, but Elliot did say that thing about ‘sometimes you need to compromise’ to Mark)
4) Luke wanted Elliot to take the Sunborn name, Elliot refused
5) other dumb thing elliot refused to compromise on that their relationship will easily recover from by the end of this short story ((pls, God Sarah, if ur listening))
#im sure I’m wrong but wouldn’t it be fun if any of these except 1 ends up being right?#tears waiting to be diamonds#in other lands#sunbrat

Lost Caverns of Ixalan Artisan Set Review: Part 1
Which common and uncommon cards in Lost Caverns of Ixalan might make their way into your Artisan Commander decks? Part 1 will cover the monocolor cards, and Part 2 will cover the multicolor and artifact cards. Let's take a look:
White
Manglehorn is an existing card but doesn't see much play in Artisan. Making your opponents' artifacts enter tapped has a larger impact in regular EDH where it hits mana rocks like Grim Monolith and Mana Vault, not to mention slowing down big treasure makers like Dockside Extortionist and Smothering Tithe. In all, I don't expect to see too much of Dauntless Dismantler in Artisan games.
Blue
An upgrade over Supreme Will, which sees some play. Putting the extra cards into the graveyard instead of the bottom of the library is relevant for spells decks with payoffs that count the number of instants/sorceries in the graveyard: Crackling Drake, Gandalf's Sanction, Rise from the Tides, etc.
Black
The closest comparison is to Infernal Grasp. Bitter Triumph can hit planeswalkers, but there aren't very many of those in Artisan. The larger difference is the flexibility in the additional cost: when you don't want to pay life you can discard a card instead and vice versa. Some decks, such as reanimator, want discard outlets anyway. I expect to see Bitter Triumph at similar rates as Infernal Grasp and Go For the Throat.
A Deadly Dispute that creates a Map token instead of a Treasure. A lot of decks that run Deadly Dispute will want this card too: Juri, Gut, Thalisse, etc.
This card's pretty interesting. It has shades of Deadly Wanderings to it, except that it only needs you to attack with a single creature instead of controlling only one creature, which is a pretty significant difference. Obviously, you'll want to put this in a deck that can attack with a single large creature. This card's not worth running over a card like Ancient Craving if you're not going to profit off the front side. I'm thinking something like Yargle or Rael Rilsa.
Ichor Wellspring is played in lots of decks that like to sacrifice artifacts. Mephitic Draught is essentially a second copy for black decks.
This card's not far from Doomed Necromancer, which has always struck me as a rare that's ripe for a downshift. The finality counter and sorcery speed are a bit of a bummer, but Soulcoil Viper is something to consider when building Barrowin of Clan Undurr, or if/when they downshift Alesha, who Smiles at Death (fingers crossed)
Any self-mill deck that can easily get four or more permanent cards into its graveyard will like this little guy. Deathtouch means you will often be able to find someone to attack who doesn't want to block, and in a pinch you can leave it back to dissuade a big creature from attacking you.
Red
I'll talk about Caparocti Sunborn when I get to the multicolor cards, but yeah, if you plan on discovering a lot, this card seems deece.
It's a red Prying Blade except: A) it's indestructible, B) it gives an extra point of toughness, and C) gives you the treasure on attack, not when it hits an opponent. Overall that's pretty good.
This card looks excellent in an artifact-heavy deck. It can provide creatures haste in a pinch on its front side, but flipping it shouldn't be very hard, in which case it turns into a land with a very powerful activated ability. Even if you never use that second ability, it's still a card that ramps you.
It's going to be fairly difficult to trigger descend every turn, even in decks that go out of their way to sacrifice stuff. Keep in mind that tokens are not cards, so sacrificing treasures or Eldrazi Spawn tokens or whatever won't trigger this. That said, getting just two or three treasures out of a two-mana creature is pretty good, and it has two relevant creature types.
Sunshot Militia is yet another creature that goes infinite with Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator and a way to turn it into a pirate. Aside from that, it's still a card with a ton of potential. It works great with Curiosity effects, for one thing. But any deck that has lots of stuff hanging around, be it treasure tokens, food tokens, equipment, or dispensable creature tokens could use Sunshot Militia to deal good chunks of damage at low cost.
Great for my Syr Carah deck.
Green
Ok so a lot of these dinosaur payoffs I'm skipping over because the red-green signpost dinosaur legendary doesn't look very compelling as a commander- I'll get to it in Part 2- but Earthshaker Dreadmaw is a house.
This card reminds me of Afiya Grove, which not only is a rare but also on the reserved list. And Explorer's Cache is... better? It enters with one fewer counters on it, but gives you a lot more control over when you dole out the counter (a big mark against Afiya Grove is that you have to give the +1/+1 counter to an opponent's creature if you don't control any creatures), and of course, it recoups counters if your creatures die. I'd put Explorer's Cache into any deck that has a lot of +1/+1 counter synergies and proliferate. It also works very well with Kami of Whispered Hopes.
Poison Dart Frog looks like a decent mana dork/rattlesnake card. Pretty nice that it can block a creature with flying, then tap to help pay for its own deathtouch ability. That said, I wouldn't run a two-drop mana dork if I don't need the mana fixing; if I just want to ramp, I'd go with Llanowar Elves/Elvish Mystic/Fyndhorn Elves instead.
This is the biggest, baddest green mana sink we've gotten in Artisan. Previously the best was probably Centaur Glade. Sachi decks will be able to use this, and maybe(?) Rishkar and/or Tatyova decks. If you're making infinite mana with something like Devoted Druid + Vizier of Remedies, I'd recommend putting that mana into something like Goblin Cannon for the win; as cool as turning all your lands into 7/7s is, you have a limited supply of them, and they don't have trample-- you don't want to pass the turn only to have them all destroyed by a Slaughter the Strong or Kirtar's Wrath.
Alright, that's all the monocolor cards! See Part 2 for multicolor and artifact cards!

top 3 benicio movies???? 👁️👁️
holy shit okay only three fuck okay here we go
#3 - excess baggage (1997) | okay hear me out, the movie isn't the best. but benicio del toro in a leading role as a lanky, misunderstood stud who doesn't want anyone getting hurt is a full MEAL of a role. the movie is filled with cute romance and funny moments where vincent roche cannot take anything seriously even if he is having a near death experience and that is so special to me. also alicia silverstone chose benicio herself and she was so right for that. the second she realized he was method and he punched her in the arm for real i bet she was regretting that decision LMAO.
#2 - sicario (2015) | not only is alejandro gillick that bitch, but the movie itself caught me so off guard when i first watched it that i sat there in a daze like... what the fuck did i just watch. i have a severe hatred for josh brolin (we've got once-sided beef, that man is in everything i love and he is good at what he does.), and emily blunt and daniel kaluuya sold the deal for me with their on screen friendship—the cast has me feral. and the story is gut-wrenching (no pun intended).
#1 - things we lost in the fire (2007) | again, hear me out. i am a sucker for romance, benicio's character jerry sunborne is trying his best, and i would sell my soul for halle berry. there's something about the fact that the story is based around the entire family realizing jerry is now their main connection to their recently deceased family member that i connect to a lot. and also idk if i have ever told the story about how me owning this movie on dvd is a total mystery and that it's the only bdt dvd i own—but that too.
now if we're talking characters, the good and the bad, that's a whole other ball game!
#anon this was so much fun omg thank you#my little sick brain loved answering this ask#scuddisher.inbox#i know my choices are so mid but the movies themselves have a lot of meaning to me lmao#and again... characters are completely different and i love both the good ones and the evil ones that bdt plays#anon feel free to send me asks like this any time it's so entertaining and gets my brain thinking thoughts#benicio del toro

Dear Professor, Due to changes in the Twitter API and adjustments to the game's application specifications, among various technical reasons, we plan to gradually terminate (discontinue) the association of Twitter accounts.
If, for some reason, you or someone you know is using a twitter login, please bind your account to a Sunborn ID immediately. The process is very simple, as you'll see in the picture above. If you don't, you will soon lose access to your account. And then Persicaria will be very sad. That is all.
