This was shot on a collapsible Summicron 5cm, a lens that made its debut in1953. The serial number dates my copy to 1955 – and, yes, it does tend to flare and I really need to use a hood, especially on sunny day. But once in a while, I get an interesting effect on the image.

最近の日本のビックニュースと言えば、MLBの大谷選手の結婚から始まり、専属通訳だった水原氏の大問題。

日本では野球・MLBそしてサッカーが主に騒がれますけど世界的に見るとF1の角田選手やWRCの勝田選手の方が大谷選手よりも有名だったりします。そして彼らは多くの取材陣の中で自ら英語で受け応えしています。それから以前よりも他の競技でも、他言語を操る日本人選手を見るようになってきました。

異国で活躍している日本人サッカー選手達も他言語でやり取りしているのを国際ニュースで拝見します。それに比べて野球界では少ないように感じてます。

“ 何故なのか？ ”・・日本の野球界システムにも理由があるように感じてますが、これは個人的な感想。

言葉の重要性は時折このオヤジ日記でも記させて頂いてますけど、色々な意味で真�� “ 国際 ” スポーツのあり方や価値を見つめ直してほしいと外から眺めております。ま～それには、火を点けるマスコミの姿勢も大きく関係しますよね・・・

I can finally show off a (mostly) complete period-accurate Leica kit.

1955 M3 with M-mount type-1 Summicron

1937 IIIa with matching 5cm Summar

Set of original Leica FILCA and IXMOO reusable film cassettes

Both cameras have Oberwerth straps and are fully functional. I'd like to upgrade the bag to a genuine Leica leather bag (or maybe something by Oberwerth) as my Billingham Leica M system bag is a little large for casually carrying these two cameras. The IIIa is also missing the shutter button collar which is driving me crazy.
