Suiryu x Chubby Reader

Summary: Never in a hundred years did you expect a man like him to like you.

Suiryu loved women. Loved to flirt and play. 

He went on more dates already than any other man of his age.

But as soon as he saw you, that all changed.

You were one of the nurses who helped him after Saitama saved him. He was at the hospital for a few days. Almost all of his bones were broken, so he couldn't do much.

Of course, other nurses offered to help him, since they all found him handsome. But he didn't care, from the moment he saw you, you were all he wanted to treat him.

How you met him was by pure chance. A colleague of yours called in sick last minute so you had to take over their patients, and one of those was Suiryu. The moment you locked eyes with him, you knew you were going to like him. But you kept your professionalism and delivered what was expected of a nurse. Even if he kept on flirting and joking with you, you never crossed any boundaries.  

And even though you were a bit shy around him, your duty was to help. 

"I don't know why you insist on me feeding you Suiryu, you are all healed now."

"I know. But I really enjoy your company Y/N." you smiled and feed him another spoonful of his lunch. "And tomorrow, when I'm going to be let off, I will ask you on a date. Think of your answer before please." he said. It didn't really shock you, you knew he was a flirt, but the fact that he chose you out of all the nurses, did. 

Tomorrow came quicker than you expected. As Suiryu was let go, you said your goodbyes at the front of the hospital.

"Be safe please."

"Knowing that such an amazing and kind nurse is waiting for me here is very tempting, but I do not plan on getting hurt. I plan on becoming a real hero, and man deserving you." you blushed a little.

"I like your soo Sui."

"So, will you go on a date with me?"

"Yes, I will." he was so happy, his smile lit up the whole entire world. 

"I will pick you up tomorrow when you shift ends. See ya'!" he said as he turned to leave. You were a bit disappointed that he left so quickly, but you were looking forward tomorrow. 

But before you could turn around Suiryu was right in front of you as he pecked your lips. He gave you a wink and waved goodbye.

You only stood there frozen. And you would probably still stand there if it wasn't for one of your colleagues yelling at you that your break is over.

Suiryu watches him with the patience of a river carving itself into rock. The effect on Garou is the same; wearing him down as he wears away.

Garou narrows his eyes. —Why?

Suiryu sighs, shaking his head. —Why, why…You love that word, don’t you?

But Suiryu is already shifting his body, making more space, trusting that Garou will follow as surely as smoke follows beauty, or night follows day.

Above them, the sky flares with the first flames of a firebird sunset. Lurid hues of orange, and red consuming pallid shades of yellow and blue.

Garou is shivering. From the cold, from the scene, and from something else. He digs his fingernails into the bare flesh of his crossed arms. He shouldn’t feel like this.

—Sit with me, Suiryu says. Please.

But Garou’s body is already moving for him, toward him, moving on its own. There’s no question of heart; it doesn’t occur to him. But the answer comes easily enough.

Suiryu watches with a sly smile and eyes you could drown in—how chilling, how dark, how deep.

Garou stares back with eyes like flame; with a gaze as readily kindled as extinguished.

She got jacked arms under her suit, no doubt…crazy spider-leg hair, she has full control over every thread of organization members… what were they prior? Ex-mercenary? They emit prison guard… or executioner vibes…

You simply don't fxck around. You will not find out, you will simply be gone, gone like a speck of dust.

Let's talk about neo org structure, (ex?)-criminals, cult leaders, big-shot bourgeoisie… 99% guaranteed to each have their own purposes, grand delusion of world conquest, & their nefarious deeds:

Loot, tax evasion, human experiment & underground market etc.

Such an exemplary bunch, what could possibly go wrong?

Allow me to tell you a story:

Once, X worked at an establishment* with decent pay but manager bullied them so they left for another sect. across the block, who promised them better pay & fair treatment. Except when they arrived, to their dismay, other staff were jealous saboteurs, back-stabbers, rumour mills who did all they could to drag others under no matter how low they stoop.It was even implicitly encouraged.Boss did not want X bc of age, manager later also did not want X bc of “ability” despite prior promises, but they do not get dirt on their own hands, so they “borrow other's knife to k!ll” so to speak,which is why some staff turn on X as if they get paid… they do, though reward may not be money.

X decided to quit when they found out just how shady they operated:

identity fraud & faked marriage for immigration, debt entrapment, money laundry, tax evasion, exploit staff by tip confiscation, gambles are on the tables & obligatory, prostitute to the top, join cult for promotion

Their method:

financial & social entrapment, back scenes manipulation,subtle coercion

At the end X went back to prior org …at least they had rigid management who know how to run an operation on the table… all hands visible.

Not to dismiss the benefit of doubt but when you fill your ranks & esp. the executive echelon with egoistic characters of dubious backgrounds & even more obscured intentions… what would you expect happen?

Already on first encounter somebody expressed vehement protest. Truly smart opposition don't show their fangs until it's too late for you. Ex-criminals who look ready to pick a fight anytime? You rly think they would change for good? Mayyybe… but words are cheap talk, watch what they do. Cult leaders… never good news. Immediate boost of followers for your organization? Sure. Long-term goals? Hmm… Well, what can the bourgeoisie do? Anything they want & their money can buy. Easy funds? For now. You think they will just fund you for free? It's a world of Give & Take, & who knows better how to seize* than an elite capitalist. An iconic idol can't be bad, we get loyal popularity!Except she's wired to the organization's server, which seems convenient,for communication? Or maybe… mind control? She already experiences “glitches”…seems like a cyborg power boost clearly has draw -backs.How long can the power boost of borg op. last? What happens when it's worn out? We all know hardware needs maintenance & upgrades. About the disciplinary agents? Also borgs …But they look uncanny, like they'd be unfazed under any circumstances, like they know…things.Idk about the ex-mercenary part… they thoroughly creep me out.

Hey at least the young leader seems honest & competent? Keyword: young* Can we expect a circus of hooligans to obey a 16 yr-old boy? …How much control does he actually have over them? I don't doubt his competency, I doubt the members' extent of will for cooperation.

@yonkochi​ Hi there, uhm I’m not sure what post that would be, must have been a very long time now. I have no energy to do any digging for sources or old posts in my current condition, but I can mention a few things that might be related to what you expected to find, and maybe someone else who sees the post will have the sources at hand or some clarifications to add and stuff!

Here goes:

- So, I remember that some time ago, ONE said on their twitter that they were ok with people shipping Saitama x Genos, or that they were ok with fanworks of that kind, or something among the lines.

- I can’t talk about Mob Psycho 100 because I’ve only watched the 2 anime seasons, but regarding One Punch Man, it seems very obvious that both ONE and Murata seem more than ok with queer people in general, as there isn’t only a lot of fanservice of all kinds but also a few canon queer characters in OPM (even if a couple of them aren’t precisely the best representation the LGTB+ community could get, but still, there are a couple others that are perfectly fine).

- There is also the fact that on many occasions, when the fans have gotten pushy asking if Saitama x Fubuki or Saitama x Tatsumaki (or Genos x the girls) is going to get confirmed already, Murata’s reply has always been “OPM is not a romance manga”. Hilarious that every single time there seems to be “romance” in OPM or characters crushing after someone, it’s pretty queer instead... to name a few examples:

---- Those male B Class Heroes crushing after Zombieman (during the first attack of the Monster Association, only in the manga, this scene was not in the anime or the webcomic). Ok, this scene doesn’t really confirm that those guys are gay for Zombieman, he’s really cool and there are many reasons to get overwhelmed in his presence, but still, in Murata’s and ONE style we never really see characters making those kinda faces unless they are crushing on someone or drunk XD

---- Lily crushing after Fubuki real bad

---- Mentioning that Okamaitachi and Puri are queer, just for the record. 

---- *WEBCOMIC SPOILERS* Feather thinking Erika is in love with him just for her to be like “Actually I have this giant crush on Tatsumaki you see”. Sorry Feather, you are a good lad, but that’s how things are ha ha.

- I know Amai and Genos and some others have many fangirls and I know Suiryu fucks his fangirls now and then but that’s it, crazy fangirls and hetero men acting like pigs are the only instance of hetero people existing in the world of OPM and it’s kind of refreshing to have the heteros be on the end of the jokes and ridicule and criticism so often instead of the gays (with the exception of Puri, of course).

I hope I worded this all nicely enough but to any readers, a friendly reminder that not only I’m dictating most of this and editing without hands is hell, English is not my first language.

Okay- okay- I’m gonna be real with you. Even when Amai’s backstory was revealed and was a little disheartening, I couldn’t bring myself to like him. I know that might be calloused of me, but his projection of his self-loathing onto other / uglier people reminded me a lot of Homelander from The Boys.

Amai wants to be loved and idolized. It was fine and dandy when he was a hideous beast just picking up trash, but it’s different when that concept of Justice began to fade in the distance of fortune and admiration letters. That’s why Blast’s charisma is regarded as idealistic, as Amai developed this idea that being a hero meant killing anything that is considered to be irredeemable.

Whether or not he changed out of that idea after his altercation with Saitama, I’m not sure. I don’t know whether he’ll be like Garou and quickly become my new fave (again, sorry Genos) or he’s going to continue to be a petulant little shit and learn not a damn thing (see: Suiryu). I can understand his plight wholeheartedly, but I cannot like his character for where it left off.

Unless Amai, somehow, manages to grow and overcome his beastliness and becomes better than who he was (be it that he saves someone from the Neo Heroes or apologizes to an ugly person he wronged), I can’t say I like where his character left off. Hopefully that’ll change, but until then, I’m gonna keep my eye for him in the panels

Let's try you with the Eastern fujo ships; Garou x Suiryu, Suiryu x Sneck, Flash x Sonic and Atomic Samurai X Iaian (There's actually quite a few more I can name but God won't let me speak them into existence. I mean I know theye exist, but I pretend they don't. Anything with Bang has to go.)

As for Suiryu and Sneck: B! I think it’s really cute, and I like how Sneck influenced Suiryu’s opinion about the heroes by just... showing up lol. I think the pinnacle of bravery to Suiryu is Sneck, just because Sneck was the one who stood and fought when he knew he was outmatched. Their relationship would be really funny, I think. Because Sneck is so uptight and Suiryu is so easygoing. I also really like the martial artist x martial artist dynamic simple because of the sparring matches.... oh, the sparring matches....

Flash x Sonic: B! I also think this is a really neat ship. They’ve got a very interesting history and they both share a really shitty childhood growing up in the ninja village. I think together, they could help each other heal and grow in tandem with one-another, because they both also share an immense talent for speed and sword-fighting, and have never really left behind their ninja roots.

Atomic Samurai x Iaian: D. I think this one is a little weird because I have a personal hc that Kamikaze took Iaian under his wing when Iaian was pretty young. Their relationship and light father/son dynamic works really well already! I’ve also said this before, but I hc that Iaian is basically exactly like how Kami was at that age, so that whole situation is just really interesting to explore.

Sexuality Headcanon: Gay as hell.

A ship I have with said character: Batarou and Genos x Garou!

A BROTP I have with said character: Tareo (obviously). I love the shitty teen squad, and Garou befriending Mumen. I also think Garou and Suiko, and Garou and Suiryu would get along well separately. Suiko and Garou I think would click more immediately, and Garou would view Suiryu as everything he fights against, then grow to appreciate him the way one grows to appreciate getting a pair of socks as a birthday gift. 

Is it something you thought you’d like? No. But they’re here now and for some reason you’re excited about it.

Being friends with both of them means acting as the middleman for them, which Garou is terrible at. He gives up almost immediately and forces them to hash it out.

Him and Mumen is a bit more straightforward: Mumen got his good reputation from being a genuinely good person, not because he always wins a fight. I think Garou could appreciate his scrappiness and good heart. And Mumen sees the best in everyone. I feel like they’d have a big brother little brother dynamic.

Ok one that’s a little more out of left field is I think he and Stinger would get along well. Stinger’s pretty earnest, and out of the heroes—though he’s popular—he’s one of the more selfless ones. Garou knows this too, and used his loyalty to his friends to his advantage. I think the two would actually grow to appreciate one another/actually get along.

A NOTP I have with said character: I’ve seen Garou x Zenko fanart when looking for Murata art for Garou edits and. Hm. Kneecap removal.

Given Garou’s 18, I’m also not super comfortable with ships that involve him and someone 20+.

A random headcanon: I’ve mentioned this previously, but I feel like Garou would be someone who sucks at mediation. He’s just not good at being a passive observer of his own thoughts. He’s been doing a lot of it lately, but he hasn’t gotten any better at it. So he’s moved to self-reflection instead.

General Opinion over said character: I love Garou. There’s something about the idea of a character who decides to be bad because he’s had it shoved onto him his whole life and is convinced that since people think he’s bad, he can’t be good/a character that feels it’s his only choice. I also love how he acts as a foil to so many of the characters in OPM. I’m hoping we see more of him in the webcomic.

GREAT PRETENDER Anime Lines Up Its English Dub Cast

  Last month, Netflix announced plans to premiere WIT Studio's GREAT PRETENDER anime on the service outside of Japan on August 20. That's next week already, somehow, so it's time to see who's playing who in the English dub.
