Making a second post on this but Garlemald could have had a massive interest in Sui so sato as an underwater base: Submarine tech exists and diving suits wouldn't be out of character for them to have. It's in the middle of the Ruby sea and near TWO occupied regions! They could bypass the Pirate Confederacy taxes AND Hingashi laws!

I also found a mod for bionic arms. I'm still debating on whether or not I wanna add this but I think bionic arms are the coolest thing ever and giving my WoL one would also be super cool. I'd just need to come up with a good reason for it.

Day 27 - Memory

Yume goes home, and takes Aymeric with her.

"We don't have to stay if you're uncomfortable."

Aymeric's words were soft, his hand a comforting presence at the small of her back. Yume looked up at him and tried to quell her unease.

"I know."

She wished her voice did not sound so small.

The sea-muted sun sent caustics rippling over the sands beneath their feet. Outside the dome, schools of brightly-colored fish swam by birds in flight.

They had come to the bottom of the sea, to the place of her birth, with little forethought. They were in Kugane. It was not so much farther to show Aymeric her home.

To introduce him to her step-father.

She had written of Sui-no-Sato before and related it to Ishgard. He was curious, of course. But he knew, like all of their familial relations, that the past had been... complicated, to say the least. It was evident, however, that she loved her step-father as he had loved the aging Borels. And so he did not push, but he had still put the option out there for her.

"Do you want to go and see him?"

"But say the word, and we shall return to our room in the Bokairo," he told her.

Yume favored him with a warm smile. "I know," she said with greater confidence. "He is not a man of many words, but he was good to me. I want... I want to reconnect, if we can. I want to at least try."

They stopped in front of a small stone hut, a shape so familiar it made her ache. She knew every smooth stone, every crack, every splinter of wood, every shade of every piece of paper in the sliding door like she knew her own scales.

Yume's hand was raised to knock before she even realized she had lifted it. She watched it shake.

Aymeric wrapped his own hand around hers. The warmth of him steadied her. She pressed her cheek against the back of his hand before pulling her own away and rapped lightly on the door frame.

From within, she heard movement.

Fear dripped through her like rain. This was a mistake. She should not have brought them here. She should have─

The door opened.

"Namine?"

A broad, teal-haired Auri man regarded her with disbelief.

"Papa," she answered weakly.
