I take my estrogen sublingually.
It is impossible for me to describe to a cis person what estrogen does for me. I've tried and tried. The existence I had before was not living. Four little tabs a day make me possible.
Some girls are good at continuing on, business as usual, while their tabs dissolve. I am a clumsy little chatterbox and will manage to fuck up my tabs if I keep talking. I refuse to talk while they dissolve.
I treat every tab of estrogen like there might be a shortage. Like they might pull the rug out from under me. My tabs are my connection to the divine, my lifeline, my everything. The idea of wasting them is a persistent anxiety of mine.
And, wouldn't you know it, my silly little brain has decided it would be incredibly hot if a girl tested my resolve while my meds were in.
I pop my tablets in and suddenly there's hands on me. Sliding under my shirt, gripping my thigh. Pushing me up against the wall. Fingers around my neck, teeth on my throat. Brushing her lips against mine.
Lamenting how her girl is too busy to service her. Alleviate the ache that's built up in her.
All I can do is whine and pout. Blush and ache for her. Wanna be good.

So I was wondering. If drugs kick in based on how long it takes them to get into your circulating blood. What happens if you put drugs (in tablet form, I guess?) on/in an open injury? Like, clearly this is a terrible idea and you *shouldn't*. But since you asked for asks and didn't specify they had to be *good* questions... what do you think would happen?
(Inspired by today's experience of sublingual dramamine + bitten tongue & wondering if that's actually. Helpful in getting the thing to hurry up and work before car time? And then what if... )
Some of the drug might absorb through a wound, but it wouldn't be as consistently or as completely absorbed as it would taken by mouth. The formulation of a tablet or capsule is that it dissolves and is absorbed in the environment of the stomach or small intestine (or mouth, if it's an ODT). A wound is a very different environment, so it would kind of be impossible to tell how much would get absorbed.

i do find it mostly just funny to see people get all prescriptivistically pedantic about usage of different words for toxins in everyday conversation
but there's also some linguistic curiosity of my own, as to how this classification system works
like. if "venomous" means you get the effect by being bitten (like by a snake) does that mean all toxins that take effect through the bloodstream are venom
does execution by lethal injection count as venom? Does it matter whether intravenous, intramuscular or subcutaneous? (those distinctions are actually pretty important when dealing with medical injections because they do influence the effectiveness of the med, so maybe they also get different names when the injection is for killing instead of healing? i wanna know)
if we have different words for "it kills you if injected inside you through your skin" (venom) and "it kills you if you ingest it through your mouth" (poison) I want a whole vocabulary for all administration routes
i want words for toxic
inhalations
suppositories, both rectal and vaginal
topical cream/lotion/ointment/gel (possibly different words for each)
nasal spray
ear drops and eye drops
all the different types of injections, separately
maybe also further categorize the oral route, because you'd be impressed how much difference it makes whether you ingest something in a capsule, tablet, coated delayed-release tablet, liquid suspension or sublingual melt
if you're gonna police people's words about putting deadly stuff in your body, i want your entire legal system in writing. Not because I'm gonna follow the laws. just because I am autistic and this is the sort of thing i study for fun
#all of them are probably actually relevant#because any medicine can be toxic in the wrong amount or the wrong circumstances#so if a patient dies or gets severely sick from an overdose through ANY of these routes#i wanna be able to say the correct alternative to “it poisoned them”#and also i wanna be able to correctly say what the black mold is doing to me#via inhalation route#notron anyvirus#userworldproblems#language

I often go through terrible insomnia periods, and I'm currently going through one. Last night when I couldn't sleep and it was already past midnight, I decided to take these natural sublingual tablets I usually take for my anxiety when I'm going on long and stressful drives, and I'm telling you within a minute or two my shoulders and neck started to relax, and then I slept through the night and woke up at 8:19am. This is significant because it doesn't matter how little sleep I get at night, I always wake up around 6:30 or 7am. Today I did wake up around 6:45am because I remember turning off my alarm at that hour, but then went back to sleep and only woke up at 8:19am I'm sure because the morning was getting really hot. lol Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that it seems that my insomnia is related mostly to stress, and those little pills seem to work for me. And I can get them at the health food store which is great.

I'm researching historic pharmaceuticals for work, and came across the following that may interest my Blue Castle folks:
"Nitroglycerin sublingual tablets are used to treat episodes of angina (chest pain) in people who have coronary artery disease (narrowing of the blood vessels that supply blood to the heart). It is also used just before activities that may cause episodes of angina in order to prevent the angina from occurring. Nitroglycerin is in a class of medications called vasodilators. It works by relaxing the blood vessels so the heart does not need to work as hard and therefore does not need as much oxygen. (https://medlineplus.gov/druginfo/meds/a601086.html)"
Valancy takes drops, not tablets, but otherwise this seems pretty spot on. Wikipedia suggests it's been in use since the late 1870s and is still prescribed today, so solidly period plausible.

3/11/24- patiently waiting
thank you arclightbutterfly for inspiring me to start this blog, and for everything, really. two months ago i broke down really bad, and i wasn’t sure i could keep living. i’ve researched diy for about a year, but i never thought i could figure it out. i’m 16, and crypto just seemed impossible to figure out. but it was transition or die. i lost sleep checking every diy provider and r/transdiy. it’s impossible to find support as a minor on there, as they’ll ban you at the mention of being under 18. i guess i get it, i’d really hate for something to happen to it. eventually, i found exactly what i needed- someone mentioned inhouse and how they have a p.o. box available. they take money orders, which you can purchase from a post office using cash and have it mailed over, no id required. i ordered enough estradiol to last me a few months, and had them split my order into two parcels to help with customs, and asked them to waive signature. i placed the order two weeks ago, they received the money last week, and my shipment is on its way now. my new start isn’t so far away, and the wait is harder than anything i’ve done before. but i know that this is the turning point i’ve been waiting for, and i’m beyond grateful for it.
i’m not going to tag this post out of fear of it getting taken down or found by transphobes- something… but eventually, it’ll be buried by updates. this is for everyone who is like me- those who need to see it. diy saves lives. it might be the only reason i haven’t taken mine. hrt is illegal in my state for minors, and my parents don’t really accept my identity anyway… this is my only way out, and i wouldn’t be doing it if i had any other choice.
i’ll be posting again once i receive my shipment. i’ll report on things like physical and social updates, probably some vents. however i decide to do it!! weekly updates, maybe? idk, we’ll see. ordered 2mg estradiol tablets -> sublingual use/monotherapy (because i can’t afford an AA and need a job.) initially i wanted to start on injections- they’re so efficient- but since inhouse is pharmaceutical resale, it’s expensive as hell. but seriously, any E is better than none. okay, that’s all i have to add. signing back as soon as i start!!

A (probably) new method of taking estrogen
Okay, so, this will probably also work for pretty much anything that's not super heat or water sensitive and doesn't have a carboxylic acid on it (eg. testosterone, progesterone, other things that I won't talk about here so that my post doesn't get taken down), but I'm personally just trying to deal with estradiol because somehow I've become the biggest non-prescription E distributor in my city. Instead of using a tablet press or buying gel capsules, you can make starch chips. Essentially, you mix starch, sugar (not essential, but I like the sweet), any other flavors you want (don't use a lot because it will be concentrated), and your active ingredient to the desired dose (how to find this will be explained later). Once everything is very well mixed together, you take 1 unit (by volume) of the mix and add 3 volumes water (this is about the maximum and makes it easier to handle as a fluid, but if you want more precision, use less water, down to 2 volumes where it will be very stiff and just barely fluid).
Now, while this whole thing is fairly precise, for the next bit it's more like baking than pill making. What you need to do is take about 1 mL of the mix into a syringe (no needle), pipette, or other precise measuring device, and drop it onto a baking sheet. You make as many drops as you need to use up all of the mix, being sure not to let the drops touch. At this point, count the number of drops on the pan to make sure that the mix is divided exactly into the number you had planned. If there are too many drops, the estradiol will be more dilute than intended, if there are too few, your estradiol will be more concentrated than intended. Put the sheet in the oven for 10 minutes at 325, lower temp can be used, but will need more time to dehydrate. The actual cooking time is not super important and you can go almost 5 minutes over without consequences, but more than that and it may burn. When they're done, you should be able to easily scrape the little starch chips off the sheet. If they are sticking, try using parchment paper, using less water, or cooking them a little longer. The starch things can be dissolved sublingually or swallowed.
In order to calculate the amount in each one, you take number of chips you expect to make and multiply by the dose you want per chip (eg. you use 100mls of dry mix and 250 mls of water, and want a chip that uses 1.5 mls of wet mix, so you have 350/1.5 which gives you 233 chips. If you want 4mg per chip, that means that the dry mix will need 933mg of estradiol in total. So, this means that you take 933mg of estradiol, add starch (and other ingredients if you want) up to 100mls, add water, make precisely 233 drops, and that's it).
I was rushed when I wrote this, but IMO it's pretty cool and I hope it helps someone. If anything needs clarification, just ask and I'll be happy to clarify

when I started hrt, I was so incredibly unsure. every day I was wracked with doubt and anxiety. here was this gaping hole in my chest, which by my measure was only growing, and I expected one little pill every day to fix it somehow. I was doubtful, but when I talked to my trans friend about it, they said the same thing: they weren't sure at first.
they took theirs experimentally at first, just to figure out if it was what they wanted. they told me it was like a fog lifted. I felt very foggy. I decided to try it.
I live in a state where informed consent is the accepted model of treatment. I scheduled an appointment to consult about it, heard out the risks and benefits, and I was sure my doubt had been evident to my doctor. I was also sure it would disqualify me somehow.
she told me to see her again in a month. I booked my next appointment three weeks out.
at that appointment, she simply asked me if I understood the risks, benefits, and overall effects of estrogen. I told her I thought I did. she asked me if I wanted it, and I said the same. I was practically waiting for her to stop me, to tell me I had to be sure.
she wrote me a prescription and I picked it up the same day.
ESTRADIOL 2MG SUBLINGUAL TABLET
I left the pharmacy in disbelief. my pharmacist had usually said the name of my prescription to me when handing it over. she didn't say anything this time.
at home I sat staring at the bottle for a while before opening it. then I finally got out one tablet and placed it under my tongue. looking back, I'm sure I did it wrong. I didn't hold it there as long as I should have, and kept moving it around by accident.
I knew it wouldn't change me overnight, but I still somehow expected it to: to wake up with a different brain, one that could feel everything deeply rather than drifting through each day in a dreamlike state and drifting into dreamless sleep each night. of course this didn't happen. it wouldn't, either.
the next day I felt worse. with each passing day it continued, as my desperation grew for this little tablet to do something, anything to me. I just wanted a *sign*. something to me feel like I wasn't headed for the edge of a cliff anymore.
but I was on 2mg sublingual daily. a weak dose, one that achieves essentially nothing without an antiandrogen. I didn't really know what dosages meant at the time. even so, I was happy to have estrogen in my body.
wait.
*I was happy to have estrogen in my body.*
even without knowing what it was doing, without seeing any of its effects, just by beginning to take them, I had already realized that I wanted to keep going. I wanted to keep putting estrogen in my body, and as soon as I began to understand levels and dosages, I wanted more.
several times I asked my doctor to increase my dose ahead of the recommended schedule, and each time she obliged, remarking that while it could be risky, my mental state was the more important consideration and it was ultimately up to me.
so I kept going up, always just a bit ahead of the curve. soon I was at the maximum safe dose on tablets. soon after, I switched to injections (I'm now on 6mg estradiol valerate per week) and started progesterone. I have never been happier.
there were many stages where I fully expected doctors to refuse to prescribe me, or change my prescription for, estrogen. I expected them to tell me I wasn't ready to make that decision, that I could only know with more therapy, or that I at least had to be able to tell them I wanted it without a hint of doubt in my voice.
but that's only because it's what I kept hearing from everyone else: that it's a decision to take extremely seriously, one with irreversible consequences.
but all it took was one tablet with far too small a dose to be effective, and already I was sure. maybe I always had been.
remember that while nobody chooses which hormone their body produces, they are *always* changing you irreversibly. the question to ask is not "am I really certain I want estrogen?", it's "do I like the idea of this better than staying on testosterone?" and if you still can't answer that but are curious, it's perfectly fine to just try it.
not every place has informed consent, but they should. if they don't, never be afraid to lie to doctors in order to get what you want. remember, the barriers to HRT were not put in place because of genuine medical concern, but because of transphobia. you deserve better, so do whatever you have to to get your hands on it, even just to try it, even if you're not sure. your body probably knows what it wants.
for whoever needs to hear this:
starting HRT doesn't have to be a huge momentous all-or-nothing decision. you can just try it like you would an antidepressant you've been informed of the risks of.
there won't be any immediate irreversible changes overnight. you can always stop, change your dose, change your delivery system, decide it's not the right time. you can even microdose if you want to.
you don't have to tell anyone. you don't have to announce it if you don't want to.
stop waiting for a perfect time in your life because it won't come.
stop waiting to reach a mythical level of certainty that never comes to anyone, for anything.
you've been thinking about it long enough. if you have the opportunity, just give it a shot. you're worth the courage it takes to make a change in your life.

what does zolpidem look like
Zolpidem, commonly known by its brand name Ambien, is a prescription medication widely used to treat insomnia and other sleep-related disorders. It belongs to the sedative-hypnotic class of drugs, designed to promote relaxation and help individuals fall asleep faster. While zolpidem is available under several brand names and generic versions, its appearance can vary depending on the manufacturer, dosage, and form.
For those who wish to buy zolpidem online UK, it’s essential to recognize the appearance of legitimate zolpidem tablets to ensure the authenticity of the product. This guide provides an in-depth look at what zolpidem typically looks like, its variations, and how to identify safe and genuine medication.
Understanding Zolpidem: An Overview
Zolpidem works by acting on certain receptors in the brain to enhance the effects of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter responsible for inducing sleep and reducing anxiety. It is commonly prescribed for short-term treatment of insomnia, particularly for individuals who struggle with falling or staying asleep.
Zolpidem is available in different dosages and formulations, including immediate-release tablets, extended-release tablets, and sublingual tablets. Each of these formulations may have a distinct appearance based on the manufacturer.
What Does Zolpidem Look Like?
1. Brand Name Ambien
In its brand-name form, Ambien is commonly available as a small, oval-shaped tablet. Depending on the dosage, the following characteristics are typical:
5mg Tablets:
Color: Pink
Shape: Oval or elliptical
Markings: Often imprinted with “AMB 5” on one side and may have a score line for easy splitting.
10mg Tablets:
Color: White
Shape: Oval or elliptical
Markings: Typically imprinted with “AMB 10” and may also include a score line.
2. Generic Zolpidem
Generic versions of zolpidem may differ in color, shape, and markings, depending on the pharmaceutical manufacturer. Here are some common appearances:
5mg Tablets:
Color: White or pink
Shape: Round or oval
Markings: Manufacturer’s logo or code, sometimes with a score line.
10mg Tablets:
Color: White
Shape: Oval or round
Markings: Manufacturer-specific codes or numbers.
3. Zolpidem Extended-Release Tablets
Extended-release tablets are designed to release the medication gradually, allowing for a longer-lasting effect. These tablets are typically larger and may have the following features:
Color: White or light blue
Shape: Round or oblong
Markings: Manufacturer details and dosage strength.
4. Sublingual Tablets
Sublingual zolpidem tablets dissolve under the tongue and are often used for middle-of-the-night awakenings. These are usually small and have distinct markings:
Color: White
Shape: Round or oval
Markings: May include the dosage strength or a manufacturer logo.
Why It’s Important to Identify Zolpidem
When purchasing zolpidem, particularly online, it’s crucial to verify the appearance of the tablets to ensure that you’re receiving a genuine product. Counterfeit medications are a growing concern, especially when buying from unregulated sources. Fake zolpidem tablets may not only be ineffective but also dangerous, as they can contain harmful substances.
If you’re planning to buy zolpidem online UK, understanding what zolpidem should look like is a vital step in avoiding counterfeit products.
How to Safely Identify Genuine Zolpidem
1. Check the Packaging
Genuine zolpidem will come in professional, clearly labeled packaging with the following details:
Manufacturer’s name
Dosage strength (e.g., 5mg or 10mg)
Batch number and expiration date
Proper instructions for use
Counterfeit products may have misspelled words, blurry text, or missing information.
2. Examine the Tablet
Compare the tablet's appearance to verified images provided by trusted sources such as your pharmacist, doctor, or official pharmaceutical websites. Look for the specific markings, color, and shape associated with your prescribed dosage.
3. Use Online Tools
Some online resources and apps allow you to identify medications by inputting their color, shape, and imprint code. Use these tools to cross-check the authenticity of your zolpidem tablets.
4. Consult a Pharmacist
If you’re unsure about the appearance of your zolpidem tablets, consult a licensed pharmacist. They can confirm whether the medication is genuine and safe for use.
Tips for Buying Zolpidem Online in the UK
If you choose to purchase zolpidem online, follow these tips to ensure a safe and reliable transaction:
Choose a Licensed Online Pharmacy Reputable online pharmacies in the UK are registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Look for the GPhC logo and verify the pharmacy’s registration online.
Ensure a Prescription is Required Legitimate online pharmacies will require a valid prescription for zolpidem. Avoid any website that offers zolpidem without a prescription.
Avoid Unrealistic Offers Beware of websites offering zolpidem at unusually low prices. These could be selling counterfeit or unsafe products.
Check Reviews Look for customer reviews and testimonials to gauge the reliability of the online pharmacy. Independent review platforms can provide more accurate feedback.
Conclusion
Zolpidem is a widely used medication for managing insomnia, available in various forms and dosages. Recognizing the appearance of genuine zolpidem tablets is crucial, particularly for those who wish to buy zolpidem online UK. From oval pink 5mg tablets to white 10mg options, knowing the specific characteristics of your prescribed zolpidem can help you avoid counterfeit products and ensure your safety.
Always purchase zolpidem from a licensed and reputable pharmacy, and consult a healthcare professional for guidance on proper usage. By taking these precautions, you can enjoy the benefits of zolpidem while minimizing risks.

Vitamin D Therapy Market
Vitamin D Therapy Market Size, Share, Trends: Abbott Laboratories Leads
Rising adoption of fortified foods and beverages driving vitamin D intake
Market Overview:
The global Vitamin D Therapy market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 7.2% from 2024 to 2031. The market value is expected to increase significantly during this period. North America currently dominates the market, accounting for the largest share of global revenue. Key metrics include increasing prevalence of vitamin D deficiency, growing awareness about bone health, and rising adoption of preventive healthcare measures. The market is experiencing steady growth due to the expanding applications of vitamin D in treating various health conditions and the aging global population.
The vitamin D therapy business is rapidly shifting towards vitamin D inclusion in fortified foods and beverages. This trend is being driven by increased consumer knowledge of vitamin D's health advantages and the global prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency. Food and beverage makers are reacting to this need by providing a diverse range of vitamin D-fortified goods, such as dairy substitutes, cereals, and juice. This trend is most visible in areas with little solar exposure, such as northern European countries. Fortification offers customers a realistic and accessible way to achieve their daily vitamin D needs, complementing existing supplemental options. As this trend continues, it is projected to have a favourable impact on the total vitamin D therapy market by broadening the spectrum of vitamin D supplement administration methods.

Market Trends:
The rising prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in various populations is a primary driver of the vitamin D therapy industry. This deficiency is caused by insufficient solar exposure due to indoor lifestyles, sunscreen use, and nutritional deficiencies. According to recent global health research, around 1 billion people worldwide are vitamin D deficient or inadequate. This widespread defect has prompted an increase in diagnostic testing and treatment recommendations. For example, in the United States, physician orders for vitamin D testing have risen by 80% in the last five years. Furthermore, studies have found that vitamin D deficiency affects 40-60% of the senior population in developed nations, increasing demand for vitamin D supplements and fortified foods in this demographic.
Market Segmentation:
The oral method of administration, which includes tablets, capsules, and liquid formulations, dominates the vitamin D therapy market. This dominance is due to the simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and widespread acceptance of oral supplements by consumers and healthcare practitioners.
Recent market data shows a large growth in sales of oral vitamin D supplements. For example, a major pharmaceutical company announced a 25% year-over-year rise in its vitamin D oral supplement line for 2023.
