today was fun.

woke up at 5. read through bdc a bit before breakfast.

9 - 10 - nerve muscle physiology. they only taught us what we already knew about neurons from 11th/12th grade.

10 - 11 - anatomy - joints. taught us the basics about joints and their types and mostly covered everything except moveable joints.

11 - 1 - foundation course. basically teaching us how we are supposed to approach learning while in mbbs.

1 - 2 - walked back to the hostel, had lunch, went back to the college.

2 - 3 - biochem. mostly the proff took the entire time to talk about the subject and what he expects from us and about the exams and stuff.

3 - 5 - anatomy. all the teachers of the dept gathered us all, assigned each of us a cadaver (groups of 20) and had us take the cadaveric oath. ngl the formalin did make my eyes water. i was on table one so I was near the storage and ig there's more formalin covered stuff in there?

after that i accompanied my friends as they bought their books and then we all went to buy our dissection kits. (dissection is tomorrow!! can't wait!!) and by the time i came back to hostel it was 7-ish?

the seniors gathered us around, no ragging just a bit of an interaction. then dinner time rolled around but i skipped it to wash clothes 💀 (kya halat ho gayi hei yaar meri-)

anyway then me and my roommates tried group study. the keyword is 'TRIED'. none of us are group study people so it didn't work out.

i read the intro to the first chapter in physiology. and then started with anatomy lower limb. we're working on the hip bone rn and will finish that in tomorrow's lecture. i wanted to complete it tonight but i don't think that'll work out, really. it's already 1:30 and I don't wanna annoy my roommates by keeping the lights on for long.

and besides, i often found myself on the verge of falling asleep during lectures because I got used to sleeping a lot during the 5 months gap between neet and now and I don't want that to continue so ig i really should get some sleep.

Hi there. Princess here. How are you, sunshine? I'm planning on running away from the country. Not like actually running away but as in leaving everyone behind and never coming back. It's not possible right now obviously but maybe in a couple of years. It was decided that I'll be a doctor (by my parents obviously and I have accepted that I'll do it cause I'm better at biology and it just interests me more than mathematics and as a field medicine is better than engineering for me so I had no choice but to just accept my fate) and I'm giving NEET next year. I am running away cause that's the only option I have if I wanna live my life the way I want to. I am from a very conservative and controlling background and even though our family is full of scholars and highly educated people with most having a PhD they're not the most open minded people out there. With them having a career that you wanna pursue, marrying the guy you want to, wearing clothes that you wanna wear, everything is impossible. I'm a muslim so a burqa is what they want me to wear which I hate cause I refuse to hide myself just because my hair can arouse a man. We're also from a caste that's on top of the caste hierarchy so they're hellbent on marrying their children off to guys Only from that caste and and his family has to be purely from that caste too 🙄. All these things are absurd to me and I won't do anything like that. So basically I have to live in a prisoner, marry the guy of their choice that will probably abuse me and force me to have kids and ruin their life as well. first of all, don't just do a degree as intensive as MBBS because you feel like you have no choice. i know your situation and how your parents aren't giving you a choice etc etc BUT BBG you can manifest your way out of anything, im sorry if I sound delusional but please just listen to subliminals and affirm that you can study something of your choice

the reason im emphasizing on you getting a degree you actually like is because the ages between 18 and say 22 are foundational years and it moulds you as a person. if you're stuck doing a course that you don't like, you'll be burnt out and you'll struggle emotionally. please dont take on unnecessary trauma, life is hard as it is.

think about what you actually like and pray/manifest that your parents let you study it, THIS IS CRUCIAL

now onto the future/moving out/running away etc

first things first, adulthood is really fucking hard. i am almost 25 and ill tell you that much.

do not go no-contact with your family until you're completely financially secure enough to do so!!!

look at freelance work, side hustles etc etc and find ways to make an income. start saving. as long as you financially depend on your family, they will control you.

so get a degree of your choice. hopefully your parents send you off to a hostel or pg or something. (manifest that for yourself) and then FIND A JOB

in the next few years, your focus should be entirely on saving money and making money. and in this day and age, money is really not that hard to make. people make $$$ selling feet pics (not that im suggesting you should but im just saying) so like there are a million opportunities if u start digging around

you can apply for masters abroad, get a scholarship, take a loan etc etc work part-time and live independently. a million people do it, you can too.

Greta Wood, MBBS, first author of the study and an academic clinical fellow in infectious diseases at the University of Liverpool, said in university press release that many patients hospitalized with COVID report persistent symptoms, often called "brain fog."

"However, it has been unclear as to whether there is objective evidence of cognitive impairment and, if so, is there any biological evidence of brain injury; and most importantly if patients recover over time," she said.

Cognitive deficits resembled 2 decades of aging Of the patients hospitalized for COVID, some did and some didn't have new neurologic complications. The researchers found that both groups had worse cognition than expected for their age, sex, and level of education.

One of the most striking findings was that post-COVID deficits in hospitalized patients look similar to 20 years of normal aging. The team also found that people who had been hospitalized with COVID had reduced brain volume in key areas and abnormally high levels of brain injury proteins in their blood.

The team saw the greatest deficits in people who had the most severe infections, had post-acute psychiatric symptoms, and had a history of encephalopathy.

In a promising finding, longer-term follow-up of 106 patients pointed to a trend toward recovery.

Could other severe infections cause similar problems? Benedict Michael, MBChB, PhD, the study's corresponding author and professor of neuroscience at the University of Liverpool, said COVID isn't just a lung condition, and some of the most severely affected patients are those who have brain complications.

That the cognitive impairments occurred alongside brain-cell injury markers and reduced brain volume on magnetic resonance imaging suggest there may be measurable biomechanisms, he said. "Now our group is working to understand whether the mechanisms that we have identified in COVID-19 may also be responsible for similar findings in other severe infections, such as influenza."

Gerome Breen, PhD, a study author and psychiatric geneticist with King's College London, said the work might be helpful for guiding similar studies of patients with long COVID who had milder respiratory symptoms who also report brain fog and for the development of treatment strategies.

There is quite a lot to learn and will help you tremendously grow your knowledge even if don't end up publishing it just reading literature to find information itself is going to increase your knowledge a lot
