For everyone in the notes asking what happened or saying that you think it was staged:

Do you see how on the Moonlight card that it says the film name and then the category is tiny at the bottom of the card where it won't even be seen because most presenters don't fully lift the card out?

Well Warren Beatty was given the Best Actress card which said:

Emma Stone

La La Land

And then had "Best Actress" in tiny writing at the bottom of the card.

Now when you watch him open the envelope you can SEE he spots that something is wrong. So he doesn't say anything, he doesn't know what to do. Because why is the actress's name on the Best Picture card? Where are the producers names? So he shows it to his co-presenter Faye Dunaway, trying to subtly signal to her that something isn't right and wanting her to confirm that to him.

Dunaway, who has absolutely no common sense whatsoever, just assumes Beatty is giving her the honour, because Faye Dunaway thinks everything is about Faye Dunaway, and she takes it, finds the movie name "La La Land" on the card without giving a second thought to why Emma's name is on there or why Warren is acting so oddly beside her and she announces it to the room.

Again you see the panicked look on Beatty's face which is a little bit hilarious but also God poor guy, I can't believe that he got blamed for this when he was the only person who was like "wait a second, this isn't right" and being professional about it.

And how does a card that has already been called end up being handed over?

Because there are two sets of cards. One on each side of the stage. The auditors in charge of them are supposed to discard their spare as their colleague hands the other copy off to the presenter. It seems like the spare Best Actress envelope wasn't set aside.

And as first mentioned the cards were so badly designed as to make it hard to notice you have the wrong one.

The same typographical issue led to the Miss Universe incident where Steve Harvey read the wrong name!

Eddie posts a Tiktok of an old home video taken almost right after he bought a camcorder. The band has just come off the stage and they’re walking down a hallway, amped up and loud. Just boys being boys.

Gareth is filming and Eddie is talking to the camera like, “Everybody always ask me. They say, ‘Eddie, what’s it like having your boyfriend at one of your shows.’ Or they would ask me that if they won’t skin me alive for having a boyfriend.”

Gareth, who is always worried Eddie’s going to accidentally out himself: Dude

Eddie: Relax. Skin all here. We’re good. I would respond to this question that no one would ask me because no one knows I have a boyfriend by looking them deep in the eyes.

Eddie: And I’d say, ‘It’s amazing having my boyfriend here because-

Eddie: *slams the door open to their small cramped dressing room so hard it nearly dents the wall*

The walls: *literally shaking from the band current on the stage*

Steve: *Asleep, dead to the world*

Eddie: -he’s the only motherfucker who can sleep through the show.’

Eddie, crouching down next to Steve so they’re both in shot, says because they’re making this tape for his uncle, “Wayne, what are we going to do with our boy?”
