COME SEGNO SULLA TERRA

Luogo aspro, segnato da un turbolento passato di fuoco, lava nera e antracite si alterna a colate rosse e al giallo dei licheni. Provo attrazione per questa forza latente, sento tanta la distanza fra la mia brevità temporale, fra il mio corpo chiaro e delicato e questa roccia millenaria scura e rugosa che mi scortica la pelle. Voglio farmi segnare da questa natura potente in un legame indissolubile di fuoco lasciando un segno a mia volta. Sono pietra, resa immortale dai vulcani. Il senso che darò al mio fondermi con l'ambiente emergerà con lentezza, di volta in volta senza mai poterlo afferrare pienamente.

Terlepas dari salah atau benar, menjadi waria adalah pilihannya. Waria dengan segala macam problem sosialnya selalu bersinggungan dengan diskriminasi, intimidasi dan kekerasan yang berujung pada kematian. Negara ini negara demokrasi, namun ruang demokrasi ini tidak semuanya dapat dinikmati oleh warga negara Indonesia yang salah satu diantaranya adalah kelompok LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Biseksual dan Transgender). Mereka berhak mendapatkan hak berekspresi dan berkumpul. Mendapatkan perlindungan, pendidikan, kesehatan dan pekerjaan yang setara dengan masyarakat umum lainnya. Berbeda bukan berarti bersalah, orientasi seksual adalah pilihan.

Hendra, dengan nama panggung Seruni. Selepasnya menamatkan pendidikan di (SMK) sekolah menengah kejuruan, dia hanya mampu bertahan tiga bulan di Sekolah Tinggi lantaran tidak sanggup berteman dengan mahasiswa lainnya. Lalu akhirnya mengawali kakirnya sebagai penari di Taman hiburan karena tidak ada akses untuk pekerjaan formal. Seruni, anak pertama dari empat bersaudara ini akhirnya mengakui kepada keluarga kandungnya bahwa dirinya waria pada tahun 2008 setelah mengikuti program realityshow "Be A Man" di salah satu stasiun televisi. Dia pernah bercita-cita menjadi seorang programer, menurut pengakuannya waria memang hanya mendapat pelatihan/pendidikan di Salon, tidak banyak peluang pelatihan pekerjaan untuk menunjang keterampilan dan kemampuan, bahkan selebihnya tidak ada saat itu. Bagi mereka waria-waria yang tidak memiliki skill, Jalanan tempat pelariannya mencari jalur cepat dan mudah demi mempertahankan hidup.

He came closer, amidst cheers from friends and I could feel the heat of his gaze. That same gaze that brought us together. It was so familiar, that I could remember vividly his inquisitive eyes of a year ago probably wondering why I was rushing my food, carrying a tattered braid or wearing a dirty cloth. That was over now, because he was about to do what my past relationships couldn’t. My eyes became misty with tears at the thought of that.

“Ijee my love”, he called me out of oblivion.

“Collins “, I whispered trying in vain to withhold my tears.

“Yesterday I asked you what you want for your birthday and you said you want me. I’m giving you all of me now, please marry me!”, he said with a pleading look.

He knelt door, presenting a diamond ring in front of me.

“Yes!, I answered as tears of joy roll down my cheeks.

“Yes,” he repeatedly, chuckling. He stood up, hugged and kissed me happily. There was more cheers from his friends. I was shy, so I buried my face in his bosom.

“You know what! I’m sick and tired of fighting with you my dear son. Go ahead and marry her”, Beauty said pacing around the sitting room.

“Seems it is hard for you to consent, mom”, Collins said watching his mother to see her reaction.

“Yes it is, but whatever it was that made you propose to her without letting me know must be really powerful”, Beauty said.

Collins smiled and for the first time in his life, he hugged his mother.

“Thank you Mom”, he said.

“I’m really sorry for abandoning you when you were a kid and by not living up to my standards as a good mother, I believe I will make it up to you henceforth, Beauty said hugging her son tightly.

“Without me!”, Princess shouted from the stairs.

The three burst into laughter.

“Come my baby”, Beauty said as she hugged her too while Collins stood, smiling.

“The first day I saw you, I was quite surprised”, Collins said facing his queen, Ijeoma as she bombards him with question. Collins came to see her in school.

“Why? Ijeoma asked.

“I was wondering why you were looking restless but still enjoying your food “, Collins said.

Ijeoma burst into laughter while he watch her, smiling.

“Is that all? So that is why you were looking at me like that”, She asked.

“No, not just that. You were looking so pretty and I was wondering which planet you were from”, Collins said, holding her hands.

Ijeoma smiled.

“I never knew you were behind the foundation that paid my mother’s hospital bills, otherwise I was wondering what a rich man is doing in such a place”.

“And you chose to ignore me when I asked for your name”, Collins said faking a frown.

Ijeoma laughed and hugged him tightly.

“I’m sorry my husband “, she said.

“You’re always right”, Collins answered, holding her.

(FEW MONTHS LATER)

“So when are you leaving with your new wine”, Kelvin asked with a sly smile.

“Next week”, Collins said smiling.

“How time flies, you’re now a married man, friend”, Kelvin said looking at his friend in admiration.

“I found my missing rib, Kelvin. I did not waste time to do the necessary “, Collins said, laughing.

“That’s great man, Kelvin said.

“So when I’m expecting you two, then”.

“Let’s see… In a month time”, Collins answered.

“What? Just for honeymoon you’re spending a month. Man, you have business here. Go and do what others are doing and come back”, Kelvin shouted.

Collins laughed.

“Man, I said, one month probably. We may end up staying longer. Mind you, I’m going to do what others are not doing”, Collins said and the two friends burst out laughing “.

“You are a bad man, Collins”, Kelvin said.

Then the two friends started making fresh business plans.

EPILOGUE

Years later, Ijeoma reunite with her estranged father and live happily ever after with her husband, Collins.
