GT July 2023

I really enjoyed this challenge, though I didn't quite finish it and what I did get done was largely very late. Life hit me pretty hard and got in the way more than I ever expected, which is a bummer but I must keep on trying. As it is, I don't want to keep feeling Guilty over this not being finished, so I'm calling it at 28 prompts filled. Thank you to everyone who read, and I hope you'll stick around to see what else I come up with!

1 - Enchanted - Interrupted at Work - The miniature wizard Colfax is grabbed (rather rudely) from his lab to employ his services as Court Wizard.

2 - Bird - Gilded Birdcage - Adrian, cursed to live his life as a small bird in a cage, contemplates his life as a witch's would-be familiar.

3 - Impulsive - Nailed It - Chase Lisong, tiny king of impulsive idiots, has a close call in the kitchen while on a borrowing mission.

4 - Stargazing - Grey Landing (part 6) - In which Isaac Grey gathers some supplies for himself and also learns he's definitely not in the same world he recognizes.

5 - Caught - Orange You Glad - Borrower Chase's close calls finally catch up to him and he gets caught out in the open.

6 - AU - Landing Grey - Introducing ... Isaac Grey, an unlucky sailor who has somehow shipwrecked and washed ashore on an island of tiny folk.

7 - Thief - Almost a Thief - Borrower Chase makes a good bid for freedom, but doesn't quite have the speed to get away from a human that's set on catching him.

8 - Dream - At Odds with Himself - In an AU inspired by a dream, two versions of Colfax butt heads. When one is a powerful wizard with a shrinking spell in his arsenal, the resulting chase is frightening and strange for the other.

9 - Rainy Day - Learning to be Friendly - In the cyberpunk Elias Dawn AU, Elias' miniature droid buddy is learning some skills for how to talk to a friend.

10 - Ancient - The Forest Walks - An ancient forest entity laments that she is no longer friends with the wee folk, though her luck may be turning around once more.

11 - Melancholy - Missing Freedom - Jacob, a giant, is captive to some mysterious organization that is trying to train him into a soldier.

12 - Video Games - Let's Go, (Tiny) Gamers - Adrian and Colfax wander Sawyer's apartment and stumble upon a video game controller. Colfax decides to show Adrian the ropes.

13 - Banter - Wrong Place Wrong Time - Hype, a deaf fairy, has wandered into a scout's camp by accident. The scout is not keen to banter with this apparent tiny spy.

14 - Instrument - The Keys to Happiness - (Pet GT Trope) Mindy was a raffle prize to a giant she's not sure is cut out to take good care of her. Despite her resentment, though, Alban has a surprise for her. Set in the FFH world created by @therealbrigeedarocks

16 - Celebrating - Lies Under Duress - Borrower Chase tries and fails to make up a good reason for why he was stealing oranges. The human that caught him isn't convinced.

17 - Home - Grey Landing (part 7) - The giant fishermen that have captured Isaac bring him home with them.

18 - Fire - Grey Landing (part 8) - Isaac is brought to a giant cabin where he has to deal with yet another giant, as well as wonder what they have planned for him.

19 - Trickster - Crisis Averted - Elias Dawn has finished up a fight and she's tapped into her more devious nature to do so. Eral has to talk her down before she heads off to cause trouble that no one deserves.

20 - Intimidate - Grey Landing (part 9) - The giant fisherman attempts to intimidate Isaac. The lady of the house, however, intimidates everyone into calming down, and Isaac is put in time out with some much-needed food.

21 - Secret - Shoot the Breeze - Borrower Chase has a chat with the human that caught him, and learns his name is Jacob. He does not quite manage to convince Jacob to send him on his way as a benevolent hallucination, alas.

22 - Garden - Bowman of the Garden - A brand new AU of Bowman of Wellwood, in which the wood sprites of that story reside in a lush garden near a human home rather than out in the woods, isolated from all human contact. Bowman is still and always the reckless patrol sprite.

23 - Weapon - Two Thieves - A pair of thieves think they have the perfect mark in Elias Dawn, until they notice the pixie with him and remember some of the rumors about how dangerous that pint-sized powerhouse is.

24 - Memory - Grey Landing (part 10) - Isaac makes a little progress talking to the giants. But things still aren't perfect. He's got to win them over a bit more.

25 - Pajamas - Ducky Pajamas - Little Oscar has been adopted... by a human! He reflects on his nice pajamas and how soft and comfortable his life is despite the unexpected circumstances.

26 - Tangled - Office Fae - Simon, a house fae making things work in an office instead, hears about a new hire in the office.

27 - Jewelry / 28 - Cursed - Shackled Forest - Morrel, a giant of the woods, is bound by cursed jewels that have woken again after many many years dormant.

I know I used this meme before with my writing, but um, I ain't joking when I use it for this fanfic:

But anyway, somehow the longest chapter of this fanfic at twenty pages (seriously, the normal limit prior had been six pages), Janira is taken to try out for tourney by Jane and despite intending to fail the try out so she can avoid spending time around Jay and focus more on the situation with her mom, a situation with a bitter classmate changes things...though if you ask Janira, it changed things for the worse...

5. Do you have any writing superstitions? What are they and why are they 100% true?

As noted in my answer to 38 about what is weird about my writing process, I am deeply, deeply weird about sharing my works in progress. If I share too much, the story will run away and escape and never be seen again. Don't ask how I know, I just do, okay? But they WILL.

27. Who is the most stressful character you’ve ever written? Why?

I am not sure I would describe any character as stressful precisely, but writing Jean in ebb on with them who homeward go (The Doctor Blake Mysteries) was fucking hard. Like, you have this character who makes extremely interior choices that are not all that well explained on screen, and I wanted to spend time with what that would look like--and it's a fairly long story in which absolutely nothing happens and very little time passes. Trying to do that well was stressful--but I think successful. Speaking of stories where I learned something, this is one.

28. Who is the most delightful character you’ve ever written? Why?

Delightful? I...have no idea. It's always the most recent one, the character whose head I have been trying to get into and untangle and understand. Because every story is a love story, because I love everyone I write about.

So that means today, it's Margo Madison. Read acts of survival made generous (For All Mankind).

“Yeah,” O’Neill said, bringing himself to his full height as he pulled at the ends of his sleeves. “If you keep phrasing things like that, someone might get the wrong idea.”

“And what idea is that, sir?”

O’Neill shrugged. “That we’re officers who can’t follow sensible orders. We don’t want that, do we? Especially when we’ve been doing such a great job. And especially when the well-being of so many good people will be part of the equation.”

Where do all the Twos fit in the VID time line?

This is very long, I have put a cut in so you don't have to read it if you don't want to :)

View it Differently is what started my love for making all these fanfics. Really it started because I wanted to give Mewtwo somewhat of a childhood. Now it has four pretty much finished books and one that I'm writing, and a few side stories, like Past and Future.

All the stories fit into a timeline. Starting from when Usagi was made.

Usagi was made from an experiment where Dr Fuji took a baby Mew and fussed human DNA with it. This resulted in Usagi. Usagi went though life like a normal kid, until she was thirteen and was asked to help research Mew with Dr Fuji. When she was seventeen she made Mewtwo. Not long after Dr Fuji fussed her DNA with Mewtwo's. Resulting in her being a Mew and Mewtwo cross-between. This had consequences for Mewtwo, who started to fail. He had to put inside a living being with the strength to carry him. Usagi was the only one, so she got pregnant with Mewtwo, giving birth to him on February 3rd 1998.

Jump ahead a few years to 2002. Usagi had had to give Mewtwo back to Dr Fuji not long after her birth. At the age of four Mewtwo meets Amber, we know what happens there. After that however he gets a high fever before the scientists can erase his memory. Usagi takes him out of incubation to nurse him back to health. He slips into a coma a few days later, meeting Amber's ghost who gives him the choice to stay or go on. He chooses to stay.

Go on a few more years to 2019, Mewtwo was once again given back to Dr Fuji and finished his incubation, age 20. He breaks out of his tank, meets Fuji, and Mum and then get very confused resulting in him destroying his "birth place" and killing everyone but Usagi, who takes him in. Mewtwo learns to live a comfortable life, and takes control of his powers, until Usagi has Amber. He doesn't like not being given attention and loses control of his powers, hurting Usagi (she's fine!). After that Amber gets sick and needs to go to hospital where Usagi meets Mono.

Jump ahead about a year, 2020. Usagi goes to Unova, rescues a Babytwo, Ashley who Mewtwo adopts, Usagi also has Ai. Ashley's creater Dr Finley tries to get her back, resulting in the family moving into hiding.

Ahead, nearly 2022. Amber gets abducted by Dr Finley and used as a hostage to get Mewtwo. He agrees to be experimented on. These goes by alot of blood extractions. His blood is used to make Mewthree, but also Past, who Mewtwo doesn't know exists, that's where the story splits into Past and Future.

Jump ahead five years, 2027. The family takes him in. They find Jess, a Babytwo made from Mewthree’s DNA, who Mewthree adopted. The family moves, Mewthree discovers his body doesn’t change to the seasons, so he needs to be kept warm and cool during the months. He unknowingly gets pregnant the Mew way. He finds out while he is in human form and is forced to give birth human, to Leslie.

Past and Future's story starts in 2027, when Past meets Future.

Jump way ahead to 2055, Past and Future have Kat, and end up meeting Mewtwo, and Mewthree. That's it :)

At least once a month I remember that Ozai ruled for ~3 years. That's shorter than one presidential term. That's nothing. In comparison Zuko - who suffered so much cruelty and was made to feel worthless under Ozai - ruled for ALMOST 70 YEARS. That's more than 22 times the length of Ozai's rule - and he will go down in history as one of the most influential and well loved Fire Lords of all time
