Zones / Eastern Kingdoms / Elwynn Forest
The humans have lived in Elwynn for centuries, but members of all Alliance races can be frequently seen traveling and residing in Elwynn due to its proximity to the capital, Stormwind City. Most residents of Elwynn are involved in one of its major industries: logging, farming, fishing or mining. They are also renowned for the breeding of their Evendales: steeds especially prized by adventurers for their loyalty and steadiness in the face of danger. The people are hardy and hard-working and for all its pomp and grandeur, Stormwind wouldn’t last long without a constant stream of food and supplies to support the city’s population.

In the world of Azeroth, ancient powers clash, heroes rise and fall, and the fate of entire civilizations hangs in the balance. From the towering peaks of the snowy Dun Morogh to the sun-kissed shores of Tanaris, Azeroth is a realm of wonders, mysteries, and endless adventure. The echoes of Azeroth’s tumultuous history reverberate through its landscapes, where the scars of past conflicts are…

So long story short, I joined Argent Dawn earlier this year and had my fair share of ups and downs with the server. A good friend of mine in the guild I'm in mentioned the "Stormwind City Guard" in the Discord chat the other day and most veterans got a little ranty over it but didn't give enough context on who or what they were, care to fill in a bit?
This may in fact be an innocent case of misidentification. There has been many, MANY 'Stormwind City Guard' guilds. Some have had almost identical names "Stormwind Guards" vs "Stormwind City Guard" vs "Stormwind City Guards" and variations.
The reason likely is however there have been deep problems with the 'Guard rp' scene for quite some time. We won't delve too deep into things but once it was realised by many less scrupulous players that they could achieve a power fantasy with Guard RP they decided to dip their hands into it for that purpose.
Primarily there are two types from this branch, those aligned with the Royal Court cabal (the DiCU as we call them) and those who are essentially set up to aggrandize the ego of the leader and their buddies (who are always the officers of said guilds). These players have been known to, proven to have and in many cases still do cause great disruption, outright harassment and generally promote an incredibly insular and toxic mindset. RP is a competition for them, how many people can they get to obey their nonsense trite 'law books', how many people can they get to accept their 'martial law' and 'lockdown rp' (the latter, highly insensitive when done during the height of the Covid pandemic no less).
To call them roleplayers is actually insulting to actual roleplayers, those who play a role, a character. These people generally play themselves in a sort of lionized version of their real world persona - evident by their constant drawing from real world law enforcement tropes rather than draw from what is right in front of them.
Guard RP can be good, but the inherent nature of RP (that being two parties operating in mutual consent of one another's boundaries) means playing a character which has implicit executive authority over another character by virtue of what they are doing is rife for misuse.

sometimes i wish WoW would make a show that just kinda goes back to the beginning and tells the story in a way thats way more accessible than trying to navigate a game thats stuck in various capsules of time from the last 20 years (not to mention lore thats in completely other games or other mediums entirely)
and since theyd have so much to go over, they wouldnt exactly run into the issue of hitting the present unless they were spitting out the stories at a concerningly fast rate lol
and that idk every season or few seasons is the expansions or games or idfk like it would be a lot more to consider but like, actually giving the stories the time they would take to be told yknow. and it would kinda work since a lot of the stuff that happens is pretty interconnected anyway.
and it would also let them probably try to fix some story stuff people didnt like lol
obv it would be way more complicated than just 1:1 translating it over, cause telling a story made for a game is much different than telling a story in the form of a show
also since the player character is often meant to be part of the story, i wonder if theyd have to make a character(characters?) for it, or if theyd find a way around it since that would be, imo, a big topic to try to write in. like theres a lot more decisions there than just making a guy and plopping them into the narrative
also i would NOT want it to be live action or even realistic animation lol i would want it to be stylized animation ONLY. especially since they have a good art style going in the game, at least i think so. ive heard people say that it looks bad, but i really dont see how. if its expensive though, i can understand if that wasnt the route taken
idk i have a lot of thoughts, not to mention its not like shows based on games are seen as the worst thing ever anymore with things like the success of arcane, though theyre obviously very different games and would be very different shows
also they did try to make a movie. i never saw it, and i saw some pretty mixed reviews on it, but the point is that they did try to tell a story in that sortve way before, though they were waaay too expensive about it with the movie LOL. also again, a movie and a show are still very different ways of writing a story
