Just a gentle reminder

The Heritage Foundation have outright admitted they intend for """The Kids Online Safety Act""" to be weaponized against LGBTQ+/abortion information and any form of sexual expression on the internet, that is IF the drump wins the election in November.

KOSA very recently passed the "mark up" stage in the House Committee on Energy & Commerce, and now, according to the EFF, the bill is being considered in the US House this week. So now is the perfect time to call/pester your house representatives to shoot this unconstitutional bill down for good.

If you're unsure of how to contact and make your piece known to your House representatives, here's a handy resources guide, complete with call scripts written specifically for democrats and republicans!

Make no mistake, this bill will not just affect millions of people in the states, this will also affect the wider web across the world. So for international folk, you can also sign the petition here!

I believe taking these actions may end up working, because even House representatives are beginning to doubt this bill is in anyway a good thing actually. All we have to do now is pile on the pressure!

There is no sugar coating this bill, and more and more people are starting to see it for what it is; KOSA is a trojan horse for internet censorship. Call your representatives and demand they kill it once and for all.

Kids Online Safety Act AND “STOP CSAM” Act: SOPA/PIPA/EARN IT Act, now with Kids as the Shield!

TLDR; Congress's new bill KOSA that has an immense amount of bipartisan support will lead to internet censorship by giving all state attorney generals, even the ones in Texas and Florida, power to sue websites for "harmful" content and decide what is "dangerous" for minors, force websites to make you upload your govt ID online, and lead to widespread abuse of queer youth.

We have to fight back NOW or else we will see an internet-wide purge of any adult and queer content online, globally.

THIS BILL IS SUPPORTED BY THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION AND FAMILY RESEARCH COUNCIL! THE LATTER IS A HATE GROUP!

What can you do about it?

1) Call your Senators. As of 5/25/2023, Your Senators are working at home, which is a good time to flood their voicemails with your concerns about this.

You can use the following website (BadInternetBills.com) to easily contact your senators, sign the petitions, and get more information about the bill, alongside other bad bills like EARN IT Act, STOP CSAM Act, and RESTRICT Act.

A Call Script if you need one, but sticking to the point about the Heritage Foundation and how this bill gives too much power to Attorney Generals is probably simpler for KOSA.

2) Fax your Senators. Use FaxZero to send faxes of the images above, alongside modified call scripts if needed.

3) CONTACT BIG ORGANIZATIONS, INFLUENCERS, YOUTUBERS, PEOPLE IN FANDOM, ETC. This affects everyone who uses an online space, so be sure to contact them as well via any means necessary.

If you’re not aware yet, KOSA stands for “Kids Online Safety Act”. However, this bill wants to heavily censor every corner of the internet, which isn’t really keeping kids as safe as they think. Instead, it would give them less access to helpful resources (ex: LGBTQ+ Fandom site). This censorship wouldn’t be just putting filters to prevent kids from seeing NSFW content, but also LGBTQ content, mental health support, and others. Essentially, it would reduce the amount of helpful resources kids can access, as well as hinder their education of modern problems (especially if they aren’t taught in school). So, please, PLEASE, sign as many petitions as you can to STOP this bill from being passed. We need to be heard.

Edit: it also poses a risk to fanfiction sites like AO3 and Wattpad and probably also us on tumblr

HIII EVERYONE!! I bet yk about KOSA and it's bullshit excuse for being a transphobic law. It's restricting access to almost everything fandom, (well, everything that has controversies or anything fandom.) You're going to lose money by passing this damn bill. you're also asking for a whole riot over internet restrictions. This goddamn bill is just another plain excuse for you to pain/flat out sue companies if they even mention a small controversy. If you really want to protect kids, restrict gun access, give the trans youth their basic rights back, give the rights to have abortions back, but do not pass this damn law. We don't want that suicide rate going up, do we? X3
