German Music in Translation, ep. 667
Stockmann – Dämon (feat. PSASSA)
I’m on the road again Walking and holding hands with my shadow All of the streets have been deserted But what is that back there in the alley? It’s growing larger with every step That it’s coming closer. Slowly, I start to recognize That this is monster is myself I say “Hi” and we shake hands
Another handshake here and there A nice acquaintance A bottle of champagne Because I’m one of you
It’s getting late, up there in the sky is the moon, the moon, the moon It’s alright because I stand by my demons, demons It’s getting late, up there in the sky is the moon, the moon, the moon It’s alright because I stand by my demons, demons, demons, demons, demons, demons
I know no fear, I know no dread I see a black cat, walk under a ladder No one is as strong as me, come and say it to my face The first stool gets thrown across “No, stop, I beg you!” Poison tongues full of self-praise And a few snakes trying to bite me Not a chance with me, ha! It’s an own goal Because I am one of you (of you, of you)
Another handshake here and there A nice acquaintance A bottle of champagne Because I’m one of you
It’s getting late, up there in the sky is the moon, the moon, the moon It’s alright because I stand by my demons, demons It’s getting late, up there in the sky is the moon, the moon, the moon It’s alright because I stand by my demons, demons, demons, demons, demons, demons

a faded scar
Tumblr media
pairing: dr. thomas stockmann x reader
rating: E for everyone (for now, 18+ later on)
word count: 1.7k
summary: after a bad fall in the forest, you wake up in a stranger’s house injured and confused. little did you know, said stranger was a doctor that majored in being a cutie patootie. will you let him nurse you back to health?
a/n: this is my first time posting on tumblr so i don’t really know what to expect or if anyone will actually read this, and i’m posting it at 9 o’clock in the morning so pretty crazy start to this but we’ll see what happens. i hope you enjoy!
You were just trying to hunt. You lived in a relatively remote area, and food wasn’t easy to come by. You could hike for miles to a local store, which isn’t guaranteed to be open or stocked with nutritional food and leave your open to the risk of an animal attack or dropping ALL of your food a pretty decent distance away from home (Both having happened multiple times before. God.) OR, you could hunt, and find fresh fish and berries and get the rest from your garden.
In the last few months, the second option has been relatively more preferable. It’s significantly harder in the winter, yes, but easier than hiking through miles of thick snow and ice and risking frostbite (Rest in peace to the tip of your pinky <\3).
Life was easy. You sewed, read, farmed, and hunted. Day in and day out. Until the day you fell out of a tree while trying to collect fruit and hit your head on the solid ground below.
The world had never been so dark. Nor painful.
Later, you begin to arise from your injury-driven slumber. Had it been hours, days, weeks? The way your body and head ached, it seemed closer to months. Your eyes hung tired, and the clothes on your body fit looser than they ever had. The bed creaked from the pressure placed on it from you sitting up.
Wait.
The bed? You’re in a bed?
Last time I checked, the woods don’t have beds.
Your eyes, previously weighed down by exhaustion, shot open as if you had just been told something that turned your world upside down. The bedroom surrounding you was peculiar…Sparsely decorated with furniture, and more correctly, filled to the brim with books, texts, and manuscripts, and papers covered with illegible scribble about chemicals you’d never heard of. Sitting up, you place your feet on the ground and brace for the weakness in your legs. The weakness comes in a sudden volt, then in waves. You put on a facade of bravado, then eventually the aches in your body make themselves well known. You estimate that your ankle was sprained at the least, and a severe concussion, if not a skull fracture, at the most. You limp slowly, allowing the weight to shift to your other foot, in order to explore more. Floorboards creaked as you crept around the room, investigating your surroundings and trying to figure out where you are, and who brought you here.
Your question is quickly answered.
A door creaks open slowly, the hinges squealing like a pack of mice in fear.
A male voice rings out, thick with a Norwegian accent.
“Hello? Are you awake?”
A flash of fear, feeling like a bolt of lightning stabbing your back, shoots up your spine. In an instant, you grab the closest thing to you, and launch it towards the general direction of the door. Unbeknownst to you, the object was a thick textbook, and you remember why you stick to guns for hunting and not hand to hand contact. The textbook thuds 4 feet away from the door, and the man in the doorway jumps in shock. He stares at the book, then at you, and retreats.
“Hey, get back here!”
You quickly hobble to the door, shuffling like a penguin, shouting for the person to show themselves.
“Who do you think you are abducting my unconscious body from the goddamn fores-“
You round the corner to see the man, aged and weary, holding his hands up in meager defense.
“Please…let me explain.”
Realizing from his lean arms and frame that he is not much of a threat, you lean onto your strong leg and stare him dead in the eyes with an expectant look.
“Well?”
“Oh! I wasn’t expecting you to agree that quickly. Well, clearly, I found you outside and unconscious. While I don’t know exactly why, I’m sure you can shed light on the occurrence soon. Regardless, I ran back to my home to grab my wheelbarrow to attempt to tote you back. When I returned, animals were poking and prodding at your body, clawing at your skin and trying to eat you! I tried to fend them off, but we both left that scuffle with a few scars,” he starts to chuckle but realizes from your face that the situation was not as comical as he thought.
“Right. I wheeled you back here, and for the last few days I’ve been nursing you back to proper health. I’m so glad to see that you awoken, and able to walk too! I was hoping your injuries weren’t too severe.”
You nod slowly at the strange man, and while he continues prattling on, you evaluate him. Standing at around five feet and nine inches, this weathered man had greyed hair, crows feet, rounded glasses, and smile lines. His eyes were large, and held an unexplainable depth and shine to them.
“-God knows, I could use the company.”
You tune back into his words.
“What do you mean you could use the company?”
“Well…”, his shoulders sink, the shine in his eyes dampening and general demeanor saddening. “My wife passed away not too long ago. It’s going on two years, but it feels like just yesterday I was holding her in my arms. I miss her like a crow misses the wind in its wings. I’ve been alone out here all this time. I suspect you are out here for similar reasons, and if not, then you also value the secluded nature of this area for reasons the same. When you wake up, and hear the birds chirping and wind rustling through the trees, it makes you feel…well it makes you feel like you’ll be okay. If not now then..then soon. Or at some eventual point.”
A weighted tension fills the air. The look on his face is indescribable, but is most closely resemblant of sorrow. Deep seated, heart shattering sorrow.
He jolts back to attention, and tries to lighten the mood.
“But I’m getting ahead of myself. Or behind, considering I just spoke on the past. I’m Dr. Thomas Stockmann. Emphasis on Doctor, in case you held any concerns on the quality of your care or my personal capabilities. I took care of your wounds with the utmost respect! Respect for patient ethics is a focus that all doctors should hold, but I digress.”
You sigh in relief at these words.
“I see. I apologize for being so apprehensive then. Thank you for saving me from everything. I don’t know what happened the day I fell, except for how I was trying to get apples from a tree nearby. The branches must have been weak. You’d think with all my experience in the wilderness I would’ve figured that out before I was 15 feet in the air.”
His face drops suddenly, in shock but also disbelief.
The sudden change in demeanor frightens you.
“What’s wrong?”
“You climbed the apple tree? The one with the hole near the middle? That one was planted millennia ago! It has weakened branches due to years of additional weight from excess fruit causing the wood to warp. I planned to cut it down, at least attempt to, but I didn’t want to lose a staple of the local wooded area.”
“Oh.”, you deadpan.
Suddenly, your leg starts to feel weak. You stumble in the most obvious manner while attempting to keep your balance.
“We should get you back to bed- That is to say, if you want to stay? I know you may not feel the most comfortable staying with a man which you know nothing more than his name.”
You weigh your options. He raises a good point, you know nothing about him. He could be lying about being a doctor and is instead a killer in disguise, waiting for the right moment to strike. But if he was, why would he wait days to kill you? And fully dress and care for your wounds and injuries? Additionally, it’s not as if he’s very…physically capable of attacking you. If you leave, you won’t be able to make it back to your cabin, let alone care for your injuries or afford any medical supplies. Your best chance of survival is to stay with him.
You focus back on his face. He stands there, shoulders slumping slightly but eyes focused on you. There is a look in his eyes that screams he wants you to stay, that he’d want nothing else in life for you to remain here.
“Fine. I’ll stay. But there better not be any funny business, or you’re going to get it,” you say, poking him in the chest.
“Never that, I guarantee. Rest and relaxation all the way. Now let’s get you back to bed, I don’t want you to faint. While you sleep, I’ll make us some dinner, and wake you up when it’s done.”
You jolt at that. You realize within seconds that you truly are the definition of famished.
He feels you jolt, and rushes to reassure you.
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to make enough for you to have more later. You haven’t really ‘eaten’ per se, at least since I found you. Any moments of lucidity you had involved pained moaning and trying to drink the water on your bedside table.”
You both reach the bed, and you sit down on the side and allow for him to lift your legs in and tuck you in gently, making sure you aren’t in any discomfort.
He walks to the door, and before reaching it, turns back to face you.
“I’ll be back soon, okay?”
“Okay.”
He doesn’t make it out of the room before you stop him.
“Wait.”
“Yes?”
You feel embarrassed at your initial reaction and treatment of him, despite everything he’d done for you at this point.
“Thank you. For uh…for everything. I truly don’t know any other person who’d do this for anyone, especially a stranger.”
He smiles at your comment, eyes crinkling upwards. “I’d do it all over again. This is why I became a doctor, my dear. Rest well.”
As the door creaks closed, darkness flooding the room, you slowly fall asleep with thoughts filled with him.
