Desafio 100 grandes filmes pouco conhecidos: você assistiu no máximo 4 desta lista
2018/04/17
Clint Boulton CIO

Venue Spotlight: AMP by Strathmore
Several stories above Rockville Pike at the intersection of Old Georgetown Road, an intimate performance space welcomes families featuring quality entertainment by talented independent musicians. Oh, and there is mac and cheese too.
Affiliated with the nearby and much larger performing arts center, AMP “powered by Strathmore” is a cabaret style venue showcasing acts ranging from local banjo legend Stephen Wade, to rock legend tribute bands, and a February 2018 visit from Barenaked Ladies’ Steven Page.
However, with the occasional Pajama Jam Party series, an early Sunday evening show just for kids and families, and hosting events like the Family Jazz Sessions on Saturday mornings, AMP is also staking its subwoofers on the DMV family entertainment scene.
First, the Pajama Jam weekend show start time of 5:30 PM is appealing for many families who find it is really the perfect time to unwind with the kids, squeeze in a little dinner and put everyone to bed after a nice screen-free and enriching evening out.
Eva, her little brother Connor, and mom Caitlyn enjoy music by the three time GRAMMY nominated Brady Rymer and The Little Band That Could in their jammies!
Also, attending an AMP show with kids is made super easy by the on site garage (first two hours free) parking, and tasty snacks, lunch, or dinner before the show. The space is big and allows for sitting in the lobby as needed, as well as hassle free exit and re-entry. The house staff know their audience and make sure there are just the right number of tables for dining, seating, and of course a dance floor. The bartenders are ready to provide water and juice boxes, as well as a variety of adult beverages. Reasonably priced kiddie food options are available and delivered to tables.
AMP is one of the only places on the Maryland side of the beltway where kids and families are treated to high quality music line-ups featuring the many talented members of the Kindie, or independent kids music genre. Appearances are made by all-ages bands from across the country you and the kids wouldn’t otherwise have the chance to see, like the three time GRAMMY nominated Brady Rymer and The Little Band That Could from NY, Jazzy Ash and Lisa Loeb out of L.A., and the nationally touring Justin Roberts nominated for the GRAMMY award this year for his third time, on his newest album Lemonade.
Musician Justin Roberts appears at AMP on March 11, 2018 for Pajama Jam
AMP by Strathmore is at 11810 Grand Park Avenue in North Bethesda. It is located on the 4th floor above the garage entrance next to the GAP clothing store. The next Pajama Jams show is Sunday, March 11, 2018 featuring Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players.

Hugo gives examine off rightwing asserts to celebrate diverse writers
Another attempt by the Sad and Rabid Puppies groups to hijack the science fiction award goes to the dogs, as generators and names not in their safarus take top prizes
The wins of the 2016 Hugo awards have been announced, with this years alternatives signalling a reverberating overcome for the so-called Puppies campaigns to thwart the venerable annual honouring of science fiction literature and drama.
The winners were announced on Saturday evening at MidAmeriCon II, the World Science Fiction Convention regarded this year in Kansas City.
As in previous years, there had been attempts by two sift radicals, the Sad Puppy and the Rabid Puppies, to tournament the awards in favour of their preferred slates of operates. Both radicals claimed that science fiction has become dominated by a liberal, left-wing bias.
The Hugos are voted on by those who purchase an attending or subscribing membership to either the current or previous Worldcon incidents. Eligible voters can click the No Award box if they dont agree with any of the shortlisted cultivates, a implement which has been used to block out Puppies recommendations previously. In 2015, five No Awards were given, including for the prestigious best novella and better short story categories; an unprecedented count, as No Award had only been presented as many times in the entire record of the reward, which began in 1953.
In contrast, this year there were only two No Bestows, in the smaller best related design and good fan-cast categories.
Best novel went to NK Jemisins The Fifth Season, a richly-detailed story of a planet experiencing a periodic and cataclysmic season of apocalyptic climate change. Jemisin has now been clashed with Rabid Puppies co-ordinator Theodore Beale, who was removed from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America after he publicly called the pitch-black generator an educated but ignorant savage.
The highly-acclaimed Binti by Nnedi Okorafor scooped better novella. The anecdote of a member of the first member of the Himba community on Earth to be accepted into a prestigious intergalactic university, Binti also won the Nebula give for the same category earlier this year.
And excellent novelette was given to Folding Beijing by Hao Jingfanq, a Chinese science fiction narrative which, translated by Ken Liu, appeared in Uncanny Magazine.
The best short story, best editor long form, best editor short way, and excellent professional artist awards all went to women nominees respectively Naomi Kritzer for her fragment Cat Pictures Please, Ellen Datlow, Sheila E Gilbert and Abigail Larson.
In other categories, Neil Gaimans return to the character that moved his refer gave him the best graphic storey give, along with artist JH Williams III, for Sandman: Overture, while Oscar-nominated film The Martian and Marvel TV show Jessica Jones won for the best dramatic presentations.
While exclusively two No Awards were given this year, the Hugo award organisers now face the decision of whether to change how the nomination plan currently wields. With people able to buy subsidizing bodies to Worldcons even if they have no purpose of attending to ensure they have a say in what ultimately goes on the ballot, the Hugos stand democratic, if vulnerable to internet campaigns.
