do you ever think about zemo's plan to break the avengers and what exactly it says about steve rogers?

he clocked steve rogers so hard (and tony too but this isn't about him).

he wanted the avengers to destroy each other from the inside out so he found the exact pressure point to press and that pressure point was that steve rogers isn't entirely reasonable when it comes to bucky barnes.

(this isn't about the accords exactly. they were just a means to an end for zemo).

and i actually think it lends credence to what many of us already suspect about the end of the first avenger. steve was at minimum passively suicidal when he went down with the valkyrie and that his actions were directly connected to the loss of bucky.

and that this connection is able to be drawn as a matter of historical record in the mcu if you're looking for it.

even if one couldn't draw that connection from steve's actions during the first avenger the hydra files that natasha dropped might've lent some clarity.

(what would i give to know the academic fighting over steve and bucky's relationship in the mcu.)

also, maybe controversially, at the end of civil war steve admits in his letter to tony that not telling him the truth of howard and maria's deaths was sparing himself but was it? or was it another attempt to shield bucky? because in protecting himself from that hard discussion it also protected bucky. but the point is that again and again and again we are shown that steve's emotional core is defined through his relationship with bucky.

it is concerning how much faith Tony fans have in the government and the political establishment: especially the ones who call themselves "liberal".

Like, its a consistent theme throughout the MCU that establishment figures and politicians cannot be trusted. They're almost always the villians or aligned witht the villians.

They never pass up an oppurtunity to screw over the little people. Which is arguably one of the most realistic aspects of the MCU.

Take how they say Steve "should have gone throught the right legal channels" to help Bucky in Civil War.

The movie takes great pains to show us that Steve *tried to do that*. Like Bucky let himself be arrested as soon as he got away from Ross kill squad.

And what happened? He's handed over to the CIA and denied a trial or legal representation (E. Ross laughing at the idea of him having a lawyer which is a human right enshrined in International law)

Its clearly shown that those in power were *not interested* in who really bombed the UN. They just got hold of the nearest convenient scapegoat and wanted to get rid of him as soon as possible to look good. To look as though they were doing something.

No due process, no investigation. Zip. They didn't even bother with proper security at the detention facility considering Zemo was just able to walk in armed only with a fake ID card.

Steve was basically *forced* to clear Bucky's name himself, because the establishment were not interested in real justice. It wasn't even some "arrogant American" version of justice either.

Like... finding the *right* person who bombed the UN and killed King T'Chaka should have been a priority for anybody.

Convicting the wrong person for a crime is contrary to most people's interpetation of justice, because it means that the person who actually did it goes unpunished.

Bucky Barnes Winter Soldier Memory Erasure - from a real scientist.

Hi y'all! I posted this a few days ago with the book I'm about to share and realized my embarrassing mistake that I accidentally forgot a page. Things will make sense now! Sadly, I'm not the scientist, but I am a historian. I was asked if Bucky's story was realistic and part of that story was mind erasing. If you want to learn about mind control, look up the MK-Ultra science experiments- which the government admitted a few years ago to be a thing that happened. I'd also recommend looking up early LSD experimentation on soldiers and the Manchurian Candidate. Tony makes this joke for a reason. This is only about 3.5 pages. It's a pretty easy read! This is from The Science of Marvel: From Infinity Stones to Iron Man's Armor, the Real Science Behind the MCU Revealed! by Dr. Sebastian Alvarado.

Sharon’s conversion with Steve was cut short by a radio to her headset. “Agent Carter, we have a…young person claiming to have information on the whereabouts of the terrorist that bombed the UN building.”

“Well then, send them up. What are you waiting for?” Sharon insisted and waited at the elevator for your arrival. The Avengers privvy to this information all patiently waited in the office, and were surprised to be greeted by a teenager. “This is Y/N Zemo.”

“My father is the bomber—” You blurted and were quickly cut off by Tony Stark.

“Like we know who your father is.” He retorted.

“Yeah. I was getting there.” Your quick backtalk silenced the room. “His name is Helmut Zemo, my family was killed in Sokovia and ever since…he’s been on this mission to destroy you all.”

“You said you knew his whereabouts?” Steve asked politely, not wanting to be snapped at like Tony was.

“He’s here. With Bucky Barnes.” You revealed.

“You should have started with that!” Sharon yelled just as the power went out and the Winter Soldier was activated. “Shit. Stay here!”

In the comics, Captain America and the Baron have cool chemistry.

Sworn enemies. Steve Rogers, the one who left Helmut without a family and disappeared into the ice during the war. The one who had caused everything the Baron had been able to accomplish in his villainous path. A long-standing, bone-deep hatred, throughout the years of confrontations, gives birth to respect, even admiration and the thought - "No one is worthy of a symbol but Steve Rogers."

Siberia

The last fight of Captain America: Civil War takes place in an abandoned, frozen bunker in Siberia. It's also where Hydra kept the Winter Soldiers, including Bucky Barnes, for decades. We are even given the name of a specific settlement nearby - Oymyakon, in Yakutia.

What is this place and how cold is it there?

Oymyakon is the coldest permanent human settlement on Earth. Population: 560 people.

Some facts:

Winter daily mean is ~-45°C (-50°F)

The coldest officially recorded temperature is −67.7°C (−89.9°F)

During the summer months, temperature rarely drops below zero (°C) and sometimes even reaches +30°C

The ground is permanently frozen

For the most part, only air transportation is possible

The main occupation of the local population is reindeer herding and cattle breeding

Transport in Oymyakon is almost never turned off, otherwise it would freeze

For CW we are most interested in the temperature at the beginning of May. On average, the temperature these days ranges from -10 to +10°C. But it can fall to -29 or rise to +15°C. Humidity from moderate to high. Wind from calm to moderate.

Hi there!

Almost a year ago (wow) I first started writing three long fics. They were Crassula Conundrum, Forget-Me-Not Blues and Blackberry Wilds. These are what inspired me to keep writing (alongside Flufftober and Kinktober) - and although they took months to get out I am proud of them and happy to report that because of those ideas I have had many more; some of which inspired series (looking at you Whisk and Whimsy).

So, what originally started as multiple series, is now down to a collection of one shots. Maybe I'll add more into the future but please enjoy the plant-themed shenanigans! 🪴

Summary: Zemo sends you another gift.

The realization dawned on me that Tony Stark basically killed Zemo's family twice over.

He created Ultron (ignoring advice) who destroyed Sokovia and killed countless civilians who Tony was prepared to abandon to their fate.

The real kicker though is how Zemo said they actually died.

In his account, his family were some miles outside the city in a car, presumably fleeing among the other refugees. Then, his son asked his father to drive a little closer to Novi Grad.

Why?

"He wanted to see Iron Man out of the Window"

Think about that. If Zemo's son hadn't been a fan of Iron Man, and desperate to catch a glimpse of his idol, his family would have got far enough from Novi Grad to survive.

And Zemo wouldn't have done anything he did in Civil War.

Which is why it seems like Zemo reserves a special hatred for Tony. I mean he hates all the Avengers, but his attitude to Cap is more nuanced: it almost seems like a grudging respect. They are both soldiers after all.

Yet when he sees Tony he barely even speaks to him, and his voice drips with something beyond contempt or arrogance. Its hatred. Utter and unbridled hatred.

Interesting to note as well how Zemo used the video of Tony's parents murder. I think making Tony watch that video was about more than just making him fight Cap. Zemo wanted to torture and torment Tony by making him watch helplessly as his loved ones died.

In the same way as Tony made him watch his family die.
