The thing about being a writer/ reader who enjoy angst/whump as much if not more than fluff is that I genuinely want to see characters that I love get hurt more than characters I hate. Like for example I don't really want to break all of Izzy's bones bc I don't care about him all that much and I don't think that his response to having all his bones broken would be all that interesting. Stede, though?? I would LOVE to break all his bones oh my God that would be such a fascinating scenario to put him in and force him to deal with.
