Tumblr media
summary: how you both spend your date together
featuring: isagi yoichi , bachira meguru , kunigami rensuke , chigiri hyoma , gagamaru gin
nana's lil note: there'll be a part two
Tumblr media
ISAGI YOICHI - cafe date
Isagi was never a fan of going to the cafe but since it's your favourite place to hang out and date he agreed.
He would be the type that 'yikes-coffee' so he would order something sweet and caramel
The two of you would likely to stay up until dusk, talking and LITERALLY you gossiping because duh, that shit is entertaining.
He'd constantly asked you if you wanted another slices of cakes 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 finished one
And like those typical cringe dramas, he'll escort you home to make sure you are safe. AW 🙁
BACHIRA MEGURU - shopping date
You was quite the person who loves 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘴 shopping and so is Bachira though it's not as big as yours-
You both would stroll around the mall going from one store to another with bags in hands. He LOVES spoiling you--Though sometimes he got broke and you both ended paying equally, not that you mind of course
He is the type to grabbed anything from the store and then goes like "Oh you need to try this! And this too! Oh this too!" and you'll obeyed anytime
There's that one time you both ended paying for almost 400$ on one store and no food after but instant ramen 😓
You two once go to a fanciest looking restaurant there but the foods- Bachira almost choke on his fork after tasting the raw steak they're serving but even so your day continued with no further problems
KUNIGAMI RENSUKE - late night stroll date
It'll started with you both going to the lake enjoying the lake side whilst watching the sunset. Kunigami had his arm around you and protectively holding you in his arms Or you laying on his lap as he plays with your hair
Then started the plan of late night strolling, he'll just take you to a 24-hour diner and have cheese burgers (Im hungry af)
Lastly- depends on the weather if its raining you two would just walk around the town soaking wet in rain. Maybe dancing? humming slowly to 'can't help but falling in love elvis presley' or if its not, you will just slow walk to a place where its high enough to get a beautiful scenery of the moon (Desperately want this date w/ my bf) and stay up until dawn watching the sunrise
CHIGIRI HYOMA - amusement park date
Chigiri knows how you enjoys going to an amusement park--it was written on your face during you both first date abt how excited you are.
He always make sure you are on ur best condition, wearing sneakers, a thick jacket so you won't catch a cold and he always buys you food for each rides
You both would ride all the extreme rides instead of the kiddie ones like the unicorn carousel and such but! bumper cars! It was one of ur fav rides after roller coaster (me irl would peed my pants)
The last ride (yall know what it is) is the ferris wheel. It was during your first date together when you both got into the ferris wheel and once you reached the top, the electric cut down. You were watching the night blue sky in admiration when suddenly Chigiri pulls you closer. He started to lean it and BOOM! The fireworks starts
And no 13+ happended🙄💯
GAGAMARU GIN - hiking date
Your date was the day after Gagamaru won the u-20 match, right after the facility gave them the two weeks off, Gagamaru barged into your house telling you that he already planned a date for you both. You both ended up packing together and leave at dawn.
Gagamaru always makes sure you wear something comfy and cozy for the ride. He told you to get on the top of the hill by sunset so you both can go and have a nice romantic sunset seeing together.
Since Gagamaru is an 'expert' he knows a lot of things you don't such as good places to hikes for 'wow'.
The memorable part of the trip date was you both adventurous river hikes and having fun chasing the waterfalls.

Hi guys so we’ve had a few room inquiries over the past few months, and we’ve pretty much declined them. We have right at 70 rooms and the only rooms we see being utilized consistently are homes. So here’s what we want from you. Check the list below, to see what rooms you might want to keep or which ones you might want to see gone. Once the list is finalized based off what YOU as a community vote for we will then consider letting individuals start business rooms again. However with that means that you have to keep said room active. If your room goes more than 2 months inactive it will be removed and may get another chance to reopen your business at a much later date. If you have suggestions of new rooms you’d like to see please let us know those as well.
To vote on rooms, simply post in the comments the rooms you’d like to see stay. Any rooms that do not make the cut will be removed from cliq immediately.

Hills and Views: Lisbon and Sintra
Tumblr media
We left Porto at 9:30 in the morning and arrived in Lisbon around 12:30. The train was really nice, and I’m glad we treated ourselves to business class and were able to choose our seats. The walk to the hotel from Santa Apolonia train station was 19 minutes on Google maps, so we thought, “why not?!” Welp, a 19-minute walk in Lisbon is not like casual walks in other cities.
That trek was STEEP. After what felt like years of climbing and a pit stop to enjoy the views (but really to take a break) we found our hotel, Solar dos Mouros, and were able to check in early. We had a pretty nice view from the room, and it came stocked with port and fruit. Love free perks!
Day One: Lisbon Food Tour and Sao Jorge Castle
After relaxing for a bit, we headed to Figu’s for lunch and had seafood salad, prawn salad, watercrest soup, and Roobz had sausage.
Tumblr media
Before meeting up with our food tour, we walked to the water and saw the Praça do Comércio. Grand!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The food and wine tour we booked was fun! Our guide was Joanna, and she was great—informative with dry humor. That’s all you need. There were a lot of New Yorkers, along with people from North Carolina, Maryland, and South Africa. We ate some good food and had more delicious green wine, port and red wine. We also tried cherry liquor—YUM. It was a good combination of learning about the city, eating good food, and getting our steps in. We got to know the couple from South Africa a bit more at the last stop, which was nice. I was having too much fun and didn’t take a lot of photos, but this glass and tile combo at a former casino-turned-cultural-center made the camera roll!
Tumblr media
Afterward, we headed to Sao Jorge Castle to get some views in. It wasn’t the best sunset, but it also wasn’t too crowded, so it was up our speed.
Tumblr media
We packed in a lot during the first full day, but other than the tour, we didn’t have as strict of a schedule, so that took some pressure off.
Day Two: Sintra Palaces and Castles
We got to sleep in a bit—woo! Tried the hotel breakfast, which was OK. We took an Uber to Sintra that cost 35 euros. We bought tickets right before for an 11:30 time slot, which ended up being a little useless with so many people waiting on line. After three check points, we made it to The Pena Palace. It was cool inside, but it honestly wasn’t the nicest palace we’ve seen 😜. The color exterior is really what it’s all about. The colors and tiles and views didn’t disappoint. We also lucked out weather-wise, and the rain held off while we toured around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After getting our fill of pictures, we tried to eat in the cafeteria, but while we were on line, they ran out of sandwiches! So we went to the restaurant downstairs and ordered food there—we were HUNGRY and got waters, beers, pasta, soup, salad, and a pastry. Roobz went to the bathroom and accidentally walked in on someone who was not having it, so we laughed and laughed about that.
After lunch, we headed to Moorish Castle, which was a HIKE. But it was really nice and was a real castle, NOT a palace! The views were beautiful, and we were able to get nice views of Pena.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was also way less crowded, which we loved. Once we were over it, we Ubered back to Lisbon for 23 euros—not bad for a 45-minute drive. Grabbed some water and wine and watched the sunset from the hotel room. We had dinner at Petisqueira Conquistador. It was near Sao Jorge castle and pretty good. We had soup, I had grilled cod, and Roobz had steak. Ended the night with wine and TV...living the life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day Three: Lisbon Touristing
We were pretty leisurely for our last full day. Enjoyed breakfast at Santo Antonio, the bakery next to the hotel that won a pasteles de natan award! They were the best we had in Portugal. We also shared a mozzarella and tomato croissant sandwich and a jam one. I also had a latte, which was much needed after a day of many steps. We walked to Miradouro da Graça, which had views and a cafe. After having more coffee and mediocre egg tarts, we walked to Pink Street, which looks cooler on Instagram.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While we were there, we stumbled upon Sol e Pesca and decided to eat there for lunch. It was a fun place, and their schtick was all canned seafood. We had a cod stew, tuna “ham” and octopus salad. And we obviously ordered a bottle of green wine.
Tumblr media
For dessert, we found a gelato place, Gelato Davverro. I had ricotta honey, black fig, and pistacchio. Roobz had vanilla, black fig, and lemon. It was yummy and gave us the sugar spike to walk back up to our hotel on Mount Everest. We got some souvenirs near the hotel and then ordered sushi to the hotel, which was really good, but my stomach regretted it the next day 🙃.
Tumblr media
Overall, this was such a great trip. We didn’t over plan and try to pack in too many cities and stops. We saw incredible views, ate delicious food, drank so much fresh wine, and saw so many beautiful sights and historical places. I really liked that the trip was divided between the islands and main land. It made it feel like we went to more countries, but it was just the one! I’d love to go back and see more islands in the Azores and also visit more cities in southern Portugal. It was a good choice for a honeymoon—both adventurous and relaxing, while still being pretty close to home. ‘Til the next CarubinTrip!

i decided i wanted to go out for a day alone yesterday and it was really nice. went to the bookstore, drank a liter of water while looking at books, went to a restaurant and drank a bacardi water and got a rare steak (only eating meat once a week for so long made this experience visceral and transcendent in ways i cannot describe), read books of blood while eating, got asked out by my waiter (???), got so creeped out reading my 2nd favorite short story of all time (in the hills, the cities, final “book of blood” in books of blood) that i didnt get dessert, then went home and lazily watched a microscopic kitten sleep until i, too, passed out before sunset

Masterlist Prev. | Part 30
Word-count: 4k+
A/N: kinda wild that we’re on part 30 guys!! hope you enjoy!!
Tumblr media
Everyone has it.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this. They were supposed to go to Mexico, save Scott, and come home all in one piece. They weren’t supposed to almost kill Scott, and they sure as hell weren’t supposed to lose you in Mexico.
“Stiles, come on. You have to eat something.” He didn’t need to look up to know that Lydia was looking at him with those big, knowing eyes again. “At least drink something, okay? I’ve got Gatorade.”
No one can lose it.
The bottle thudded against the table as Lydia set it down. She sighed and sat on the bed, and Stiles could imagine her rolling out her neck as she appraised the latest clippings pinned to the board.
“The diner is new. What happened there?” she asked, careful to keep her voice even and not to betray how worried she was. Not careful enough, though, because the worry slipped through.
What is it?
Stiles didn’t realize she’d gotten up until he felt her hand on his shoulder, jolting him fully out of his memories. “I miss her too,” Lydia said. “We’ll get her back.”
“You weren’t there, Lydia.” Stiles’ voice felt unfamiliar. It had been a while since he’d used it. “You’ve never had that thing inside you either, okay? It’s a constant battle that you are constantly losing. And I- I did that to her. She was fine to die, but I couldn’t let that happen.”
A shadow.
“Stiles.” Her voice was gentle as she tried to pry his eyes off the boards and to her. “I wouldn’t have let her die either. We’ll get her back.”
When? It had been weeks since anyone had seen you.
I’m your shadow, Stiles.
---
If someone asked Stiles why he had driven almost an hour across town to have dinner by himself in a suit that he hated, he wouldn’t know what to tell them. Maybe he was hoping that you’d be there, somehow making the past few weeks into nothing but a bad dream. Maybe he didn’t want to spend another night surrounded by people who insisted it wasn’t his fault. Maybe he just didn’t want to pay another cancellation fee.
“What do you mean ‘my party’s already been seated?’” Stiles asked the hostess as she led him through the restaurant. “I am my party, and I just got here.”
“Sir, I-”
Either she stopped talking or his brain stopped processing everything else except for what was in front of him. Probably the latter, because Stiles was never really good at thinking when you were around. And there you were. Sitting, back to the wall, in a black dress and heels with jewelry far shinier than he’d ever seen you wear, and makeup out of a magazine. You fit in almost perfectly in this place.
And then his brain started working overtime. Stiles cataloged every bruise and cut littered across your body; judging from the color, some had started to heal and others were newly torn open, some bruises were dime-sized and others looked like someone had choked the-
“You clean up nicely.” Your voice wasn’t right. None of it was right. “All that snark wrapped up in a nice little suit.”
“I-” Stiles realized the hostess was still there to get her to leave. Half sitting, half collapsing into the chair across from you, he tried to make a coherent thought. Your smile was sinisterly amused by him. “What are you doing here?”
“Same as you; we had a date. Remember?”
“You know that’s not what I meant,” Stiles said.
He should be doing something. Calling Scott. Getting Derek. Something. He shouldn’t be talking to you. And yet ...
You tilted your head to the side, hand lifting to get a drink of water. “You invited me here, Stiles. You prayed to me, practically begged me to come back,” you said.
“No, there is no way-”
“And I missed you.”
You could have stabbed him with the steak knife on the table and it still would have been less painful than that. “You missed me?”
You leaned forward in your chair and reached a hand out to him. “There were others before you, Stiles, but none of them were like you. Rhys was fine, malleable, but he lacked a certain … darkness.” Your hand was freezing where it touched him, a cruel imitation of how you’d play with his fingers when you were nervous. “And Y/N isn’t right either. It took days before I had the strength to control her, and you know what she did after we left you in Mexico?”
Stiles didn’t trust himself to speak, but he had to. “What did she do?”
“She tried to hang us,” you said, voice clearly unimpressed. The bruises on your neck. No one attacked you; you attacked yourself. “She’s lucky I was angry enough to save us. Do you remember when she stabbed us, Stiles? No, she’s got an iron will. It would never work like this.”
“If it doesn’t work then why are you still here?” Stiles asked.
“Because your friends tried to kill me, and I want to return the favor.”
You pulled your hand back and smiled at the waiter that came to take your order. Stiles stared at you as you ordered for the both of you. It was your face, but it didn’t look like you. The nogitsune turned back to him, cold and calculating.
“Are you jealous?” it asked in your voice. “Tell me, do you miss me, Stiles? Do you miss the power, the control?”
“No.”
“Never lie to a liar, Stiles.” You said in a sing-song voice before leaning forward on your elbow, like you were about to tell him a secret. “I miss the games we would play. I miss watching your friends try to decide if they should fight for you or kill us in the street. I miss the way she would protect us, even seconds after trying to kill us herself. Do you remember it, Stiles?”
Vividly, and the worst part was that he remembered liking it. When he was dead and dying, and you’d step between him and whatever was trying to kill him-
“Do you remember that night in Derek’s loft when Argent tried to kill us?” Your eyes lit up at the memory. It made Stiles feel sick. “She went up against Argent, the oni, and for a second it even looked like she’d take on Derek for us. Do you think she’d kill him, Stiles? Do you think she’d kill Scott?” He didn’t answer. You leaned back in the chair and sighed. “I wonder exactly how far ‘no matter what’ goes. Don’t you?”
“Why are you doing this?” Stiles asked. His voice was cracking. He hated it.
“Because I have a head full of new memories, Stiles. I know everything about you, and I know everything about her,” you said. “And now I want to know how much pressure I can put on this until it breaks. Until you break.”
“If I agreed to go with you right now, would you end this? If I never went back, would you-”
“I don’t want this version of you,” you said. Another steak knife to the chest. “When I take you back, I want you broken. You tried to kill me, Stiles, and I’m not just gonna let that go.” You stood up and looked at him. You were angry, but anyone looking over would just think you were leaning down to kiss him goodbye. Hovering just next to his ear, you whispered, “I’m going to destroy everything you’ve ever loved, using the hands of the girl you love. And it’s going to be all your fault, Stiles.”
You tapped his arm once, twice, just like you used to, and then disappeared. Probably you just walked out of the building and Stiles was just too much of a coward to follow. Maybe he just had trouble processing it. Either way, the next thing he knew a waiter was trying to set a plate of food in front of him.
“Could I, uh- Yeah, can I get these to-go?” Stiles asked. “My girlfriend’s not feeling too good.”
---
Stiles warned everyone that the nogitsune would be making its move soon - he even called Cora and Lahey down in God knows where doing God knows what - but the problem was that he didn’t know what that move would be. When it controlled Stiles, the plan had been to systematically destroy everything that held Beacon Hills together. From the temporary order of the game would come the complete and total disorder of chaos.
Now he didn’t know the plan.
Should everyone gather together for safety in numbers or would that just make them an easier target to hit? Should they split up to cover more ground or would the nogitsune pick them off one by one? Stiles didn’t know.
They tried splitting up.
It got Lydia hospitalized.
There was always at least one of them with her while she recovered, but the annual summer fair was today and the nogitsune loved anything that drew a crowd. It had been using you to take out small targets until now, but Stiles could feel it in his bones. Something was going to happen today.
Something was going to break.
It happened at sunset. That’s when the Ferris wheel malfunctioned and Liam and Mason were stranded at the top. When the sun completely vanished, more of the games went haywire. Metal went flying, cutting people’s arms and hitting them in the eyes. Any dogs that were brought made a run for it, chasing after something that Stiles couldn’t see.
Then the power went out and the screaming started. And then he saw you, waving him over to the woods. Stiles tried looking for Scott but he would lose you before he found him.
“This is where it all started, Stiles,” you told him, arms spread wide as you twirled around the underbrush. It would have been cute if you weren’t possessed and sirens weren’t filling the air. “This is where I keep coming back.”
“What makes you think I care?” Stiles asked.
You tilted your head at him, stopping any other movement. “Aww, you’re so cute when you’re angry. Getting closer to the Stiles I knew with each and every day.” You took deliberate steps closer to him and he took steps back until he hit a tree. “The problem is-” your hand touched the side of his neck, fingers pressing his head into the tree “- I don’t have the patience for more days. I’m not getting any younger, Stiles, and I want to leave this place.”
Stiles dropped his gaze to your neck. It was a sickly shade of healing bruise yellow, but it was also a reminder that you were still in there. That could take control, even for a moment.
“Are you even listening to me? Do you even care-”
One second you had him pressed up against a tree, and the next you were on the ground, fighting off Malia. Stiles wasn’t sure where she came from or where the others were, but he knew that if he didn’t pull her off then she would rip off your face. Even if you locked away in your own body and you might never come back, the need for Stiles to protect you was too strong.
He was in the process of pulling Malia off when you scrambled back to your feet. You looked ready to bolt but Scott caught you before you could. He caught your arm, twisted it an angle that Stiles was gonna kick his ass for later, and sank his teeth in all in the time it took for Malia to elbow Stiles in the gut.
Stiles didn’t remember screaming for Scott to stop, but he could hear himself yelling as he struggled back to his feet. To you.
“Scotty?” Your voice sounded broken and your legs waivered beneath you, and then Scott’s unnatural hold on your arm was the only thing keeping you up. Blood soaked through your shirt where he’d bitten you. “Scotty, I’m sorry- I’m s-”
You collapsed into a fit of coughing on your hands and knees. When Stiles scrambled over, cupping your face in his hands and pulling you up to look at him, he realized it wasn’t just blood. It was black blood. Black blood coating your mouth. Black blood streaming down your face. Black blood.
“I love you, Stiles. And I’m so … I’m so sorry.”
“Why does it sound like you’re saying goodbye?” Stiles’ voice cracked on the last syllable. “You’re not going anywhere, okay? Listen to me, Y/N-” Your head lolled in his hands “-No matter what. We’ll figure this out, okay? No matter-”
You collapsed.
You weren’t breathing.
The black blood was everywhere. Your hair, your teeth, your clothes. Stiles’ hands. Scott’s shirt when he carried you out of the woods. Underneath Malia’s fingernails. Everywhere. The Jeep’s backseat. Deaton’s stainless steel examining table. Your cold, limp hands. The black blood was everywhere.
---
Stiles wouldn’t let them move you. What were they gonna do - autopsy the girl that had been dead for hours but was still bleeding? Melissa was the only one that agreed with him, but that was probably because she wanted him to stop arguing.
Turns out he was right not to let them take you to the morgue because somewhere between his 3am coffee break and spilling all over Deaton’s waiting room, you woke up. When he ambled back into the exam room, you were sitting on the table, looking haunted with your legs dangling over the side.
He stopped dead in his tracks.
He should call someone. He should call Scott. Deaton was with the dogs in the back. Where was Lydia? He should call Lydia. Stiles called out your name and took some very hesitant steps over. Were you real? The tears in your eyes seemed real.
The second he touched your skin, something inside you sparked. You looked less haunted and more terrified, and then you had your arms wrapped around his neck. You pulled him close, shaky hands cradling his head. He could feel your heart beating out of your chest. You were saying something. What were you saying? It was hard to tell with all the sobbing.
The only thing Stiles was sure of was that this was, undeniably, you.
“Hey, hey, look at me,” Stiles said, using every ounce of willpower he had to pull away from you. You were freezing and all he wanted was to make you warm again. “It’s okay, alright? You’re okay.”
“No, it’s not!” Your voice was raw. How long had it been since you’d had anything to drink? Stiles couldn’t concentrate. Not with your hands moving up to his face before you pulled your hands back, holding them so tightly to your stomach as you shook your head. “Stiles, I hurt you. I- I almost killed Lydia. And Noah- he- It’s not okay. It’s not okay. It’s not-”
Stiles was so busy trying to get you to stop wringing out your hands and shaking that he didn’t notice when Deaton came back with Scott. You froze as soon as you heard Scott’s voice, looking haunted again as your eyes drifted over to him.
“Scotty?” Your hands reached out for him and Scott looked at Deaton for a second before walking over. Your fingers traced his neck. The snap replayed in Stiles’ head as you did. “I’m so sorry.”
“It’s okay,” Scott said. Stiles envied his control in that moment. His calm, smooth alpha voice. “I healed, and so did you. For a second there, I thought you were gonna leave me alone with all this.”
You shook your head. “Don’t be nice to me. I tried to kill you.”
“No, you didn’t.” Even. Controlled. The alpha. “That wasn’t you.”
“Scott-”
“Could you let Deaton take a look at you? I’ll tell the others that you’re not dead and then … then we’ll go home.”
“You don’t understand,” you said. “Scott, I- I hurt you. All of you. I can’t take any of that back. I can’t go home.”
“You are home,” Scott said.
Stiles noticed the strain between his eyes and suddenly he didn’t envy him anymore; being the alpha meant he couldn’t be anything else. But somehow Scott managed to get you calm enough for Deaton to take a look at you, and he went to call everyone while Stiles stayed with you.
You didn’t seem to mind the poking and prodding, but every time Deaton set a tool down or Scott’s phone wrang, you flinched. The noise and the light bothered you more than it should, reminding Stiles of just after the three of you sacrificed yourselves for your parents.
The nerves ate away at his stomach lining until the exam was over and everyone was filling up Deaton’s back room.
You were sandwiched between Scott and Melissa. Liam and Mason were huddled in the corner. Malia, Derek, and Braeden were standing off to the side. Stiles’ dad stood next to him, trying to keep him from unraveling. Argent was in the doorway. Lydia and Kira were holding hands next to him. Deaton had to maneuver around the uncomfortably full room to find a place to stand.
“So, Doc-” you said with a shaky breath. Melissa’s grip on your hand tightened but you didn’t seem to notice. “What’s wrong with me?”
“Are you familiar with the term ‘umbra tetigit’?” Deaton asked.
You shook your head and Deaton was ready to keep talking when Lydia spoke. Stiles couldn’t tell if she was frowning due to exhaustion or confusion. “Shadow touched?”
“Exactly,” Deaton smiled at her before continuing. “When a person has an immense darkness around their heart, it tends to open doorways that sometimes can’t ever be closed.” As he explained, he laid out tongue depressors next to you. You stared down at them, Stiles stared at you. “Now, you’ve managed to close some of them, but the stress of being possessed-” he picked one of the tongue depressors up and snapped it “-tore some of them open again.”
“Okay,” you said slowly. “Then Scott bit me and you- you said my heart stopped?”
“Some doorways only lead in one direction,” he said as he turned some of the tongue depressors. “Others are more fluid. So when Scott bit you, your doorways started slamming shut. Not everyone is capable of unlocking those doors to get back.”
“But, um - and correct me if I’m wrong - I’m still alive,” you said, making it sound like a question. Maybe it was a question and Stiles just didn’t notice because he was too busy noticing how tight you were holding onto the sides of the table.
“Technically speaking,” Deaton nodded. “Because you were undisturbed for so many hours, that time allowed you to do something special. You managed to pry open those broken doorways-” he moved the snapped depressors slightly apart to allow for a small path to trickle through “-and claw your way back through. That kind of determination is … one in a million.”
“Kind of like the determination to become an alpha without killing anyone?” you asked, only lifting your head from the table to steal a look at Scott.
Scott had been unusually quiet since calming you down when you woke up, but he gave you a small smile when you looked at him.
“Exactly like that kind of determination,” Deaton said, drawing your attention back to him.
Then you looked down at your hands, and Stiles knew that you didn’t know what to do next.
“But it’s not like she's the only shadow-touched person out there, is she?” Stiles said, trying to take the heat off you. “Like Scott’s not the only true alpha to ever walk the earth, right?”
“No,” Deaton said, seemingly choosing his words carefully. “But shadow-touched creatures come in many different forms. Werewolves, wendigos, banshees - to name a few.” He took a pause and Stiles’ eyes flicked to Lydia’s for a second. “That being said, every shadow creature is created by an event that allows their minds to be more fluid. In your case, it was a confluence of events. The sacrifice, the nogitsune, the bite.”
“Meaning what?” you asked.
“Meaning that even if you found another shadow wolf, they wouldn’t be like you,” Deaton explained. “Not in the way that Scott is like Liam or that Meredith is like Lydia; they share the same base design - if you will - even though they have special talents.”
“So, what, it’s like luck of the draw?” you asked, pushing yourself off the counter. The room went an eerie sort of still and Stiles wasn’t sure what to do. “You’re telling me that you only have a hazy idea of what’s going on with me, and now it comes down to how lucky I am?”
You were almost never this angry when it wasn’t about someone you love. There was something unsettling in your voice and your eyes.
“There are tests that we can do to find out where your strengths lie, to see how similar you might be to the werewolf base design,” Deaton explained. His resolve to stay unafraid of you only made you more mad, which only made Stiles more confused. “Like that. Scott’s eyes go red when he’s upset, Liam’s go yellow. Yours turn black.”
You blinked a few times and leaned back into the table, seemingly out of it again. Stiles rushed forward to help you stand. Until now, you’d pushed him away almost any time he reached out for you, but this time you held onto his arms until you were steady enough to sit on the table again.
You put a hand to your temple, trying to get yourself to focus. You took a deep breath and looked back up at him. “Thanks.”
“You have heightened sensitivities,” Deaton said. “It’s going to take some time to learn to control them.”
“I’ve gotten pretty good with the-” you gestured vaguely around your head as you spoke. Stiles had to let go of you, but he didn’t want to. “Overloads. They’ve been happening since the sacrifice. I just need … a few seconds.”
The seconds went past and Stiles was acutely aware of all the eyes in the room, all looking at you or sharing looks with the person next to them. He wondered if it was driving you crazy as well.
“I’m really hungry,” you said eventually when you opened your eyes again. The room let out a collective breath, and Melissa even managed to laugh.
“We can do something about that!” Scott said. He sounded relieved to be able to do something. “Lydia and I will make a food run. Burgers? Pizza?”
You shook your head, still looking overwhelmed. “Whatever’s closest.”
“Got it,” he said. He smiled at you before heading out with Lydia, Kira awkwardly following out behind them.
Argent nodded his head to the front and your mom and Stiles’ dad followed him out. Stiles moved out of the way for you to have a moment with the Hales and Braeden, but then it was just you and Stiles. And a very heavy silence.
“I’m sorry for … not understanding,” you said after a minute of Stiles’ head exploding. He didn’t know what to say, but luckily you started talking again so he didn’t have to. “I thought I understood what it was like for you, but all the things I said …” You shook your head. “I’m sorry you went through all that by yourself.”
“I wasn’t by myself,” Stiles said. He started reaching for your hand but stopped, unsure. “I had you, and you’ve got me. No matter what, remember?”
You bit your lip as you reached out your hand, stopping before you touched his hand. Then you shook your head and grabbed Stiles’ hand. “No matter what.”
I wonder how far ‘no matter what’ goes.

Michelin guide announces 2021 stars for NYC restaurants
Star light, star bright. Date nights in New York City are about to get a whole lot tastier! Famed French restaurant guide Michelin announced their top area eateries for 2021. Michelin awarded 76 restaurants their stars in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Westchester.
However, this year there are only 68.
Since the pandemic hit the city, restaurants that have shuttered number at least 1,000. Alas, 15 previously Michelin-ranked restaurants didn’t make the cut this year — while seven new places were added to the list.
Upscale Manhattan staples such as Le Bernardin, Per Se, Masa, Eleven Madison Park and Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare all kept their status as three-star places. These five have not moved from the list since 2018. Another 14 hot spots have two-star ratings. Michelin has also stated that places that were temporarily closed during the pandemic would be able to keep their stars.
As of now, 49 restaurants carry one star. The new additions to that list are Rezdôra, Don Angie, Tsukimi, Jua, Kochi, Vestry and Francie.
The chief inspector of Michelin’s North America team, who spoke to Bloomberg under the condition of anonymity, said ranking visits took place both before the pandemic and as the restaurants re-opened, following pandemic protocols. They stressed that inspectors were sensitive to the social-distancing restrictions and communicated with chefs and owners on openings and closures.
Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin guides, said that the way restaurants handled themselves during tough times was commendable. “Despite the context, restaurants took this year as an opportunity to make progress,” he told the New York Times. “The world can look to how the US is handling the recovery.”
A new award was introduced for restaurants that focus on sustainable cooking. The green star was given to Blue Hill at Stone Barns. The spot currently has two stars.
Several top eateries that exited the list due to their untimely permanent closures include Aldea, Gotham Bar & Grill, and Del Posto. Babbo, a Washington Square Park fave, also fell off the the guide, even though it is still open.
Eleven Madison Park’s three-star rating comes hot on of the heels of news that it is adopting an all-vegan kitchen. The relaunched menu is described as “an eight- to 10-course menu in the main dining room consisting of entirely plant-based dishes,” according to their website. The place is set to reopen for service on June 10 after shutting down during the pandemic.
Chef-owner Daniel Humm recently told NPR that he began thinking more clearly about health and sustainability while the restaurant was closed in 2020. “The way we have sourced our food, the way we’re consuming our food, the way we eat meat — it is not sustainable,” he said.
“Guests have never come to us to just eat a piece of steak or lobster,” he said. “They’ve always come to us to be on a journey.”

Pairing: Johnny x Y/N Word count: 2395 Part: 1 | 2
warning: slightly minutely suggestive at the end but nothing major
Tumblr media
The air was hot with summer and expectations. Johnny felt it as he halted halfway across the Pont d’Arcole, placing his hands on the bridge railing. The sun was setting in the distance, the lights around him already having come to life. The purple and pinks of the sky were reflected in the river Seine, a dinner boat filled with tourists floating by slowly. Johnny could faintly hear the accordeon players on the other side of the bridge, their playing drowned out by the sounds of rush hour - as in this busy spot in Paris, it was always rush hour. “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” he heard a voice to his right side. As he looked up, away from the water, the hospital that resembled a castle, the top of the Eiffel Tower in the distance, his eyes met those of a stranger, a girl. Her hair a dark brown, almost black, a sundress that reminded Johnny of places he had imagined often before, like the hills of Italy and cities of Spain. “Yes, it is,” Johnny said.
He turned back to the view. It wasn’t often he found himself speaking to strangers. Everyone almost promised that a solo traveller would easily make friends with other travellers when abroad. Johnny had become quite accustomed to the thought that he wasn’t going to be that type of solo traveller. He sometimes liked solitude, for it was not loneliness. Not if you didn’t let it be. “Are you from Paris?” the stranger asked. Without taking his eyes off the fading sunset, the world around him slowly turning a deep shade of blue, only to later fade to black, Johnny answered: “No. Are you?” Another question. He was surprised to find himself speaking so much. Perhaps it was the comfort he found in your voice, as if you also weren’t used to addressing strangers like this. “No. I don’t speak a word of French.” “Quel dommage!” Johnny said, finally turning to look at you again. The wind picked up now the sun had disappeared fully beyond the horizon, and it blew the girl’s dress around her bare legs. Surely she must be cold. “Did you just curse?” she said. He chuckled. “No. I said it was a pity. French is a beautiful language.” The girl nodded. “The language of love. I was hoping to find a Parisian to show me around the city. Not just the tourist gems.” She gestured in the distance towards where the Notre Dame was located. “I haven’t seen it yet but I know it will disappoint me. Like all the touristy things do. They’re fun for a moment, until you notice the crowd and you realize that all that was beautiful about the sight is taken away by the tourists.” “I disagree,” Johnny said. He looked at the girl thoughtfully before extending his hand toward her. “Johnny.” She shook it. “Y/N.” When she let go of his hand, she said, with a smile playing around her lips: “You should show me why you disagree. Take the Notre Dame as a case study.” Johnny knew he ought to say no, knew he ought to take the closest mode of transportation back to the hotel, for it was… He estimated it would be about a 45 minute walk, judging by the sunset. Johnny knew he ought to return, that tomorrow would be a busy day, but looking at Y/N, he knew he couldn’t. “Okay, I’ll tell you everything I know.” He began walking, Y/N following close behind, as he recounted the little amount of information he had retained from the tour guide that afternoon, showing him and the rest of the NCT 127 members and their staff around the city in a double decker tourbus, one of those silly touristy things that Y/N would probably have some comment about. After Y/N had agreed to give a pass on the Notre Dame, for it was beautiful enough from the front and the sides they saw to ‘tolerate it’, as she put it, with a wink added to Johnny, she exclaimed she was famished. “I know just the thing,” Johnny said, feeling the overwhelming need to impress Y/N with whatever knowledge of Paris he had. Which was, admittedly, slim to none. He at least knew from the little research he had done that the Quartier Latin, the Latin Quarter, was only steps away from the Notre Dame and served great food. Johnny let Y/N pick the restaurant, a place that proclaimed itself to serve authentic Italian food. The main room of the restaurant was brightly lit by white fluorescent lighting, making the assembly of black-and-white pictures on the walls stand out like ghosts among the living. The place was owned by two very clearly non-Italian men, who chatted excitedly as they recommended Y/N all sorts of dishes in their native language, which they appeared to think she spoke as well. Johnny had to admit Y/N looked to be of many places and he was curious to find out where she was really from. Eventually, Y/N ordered a steak and frites while Johnny stuck to a margherita pizza. He wasn’t particularly hungry but he wanted to stay and listen to Y/N as she recounted her first day in Paris. How she had spent it mostly travelling down from Amsterdam, only to end up at Galeries La Fayette by accident. Johnny knew of the place, a large mall-like setting where one could buy from luxury brands. Taeyong and Haechan had went there straight after dinner. “I don’t know what I was doing there,” Y/N said, taking a hair tie from around her wrist and tying her hair back. “I’m honestly too broke to even be on this trip.” “Where are you from?” Johnny asked her, but Y/N didn’t get to answer because their plates were put in front of them. The pizza made his mouth water and Y/N, as famished as she had claimed she had been, started attacking her steak. It was odd, Johnny thought as he watched her eat, that he felt so utterly comfortable around her. It was clear she had no idea who Johnny of NCT was, and he felt pleasant enough in her presence, almost as if Johnny of NCT was no longer even part of him, as if he was only Johnny in Paris, worthy of being in Y/N’s radiant company. When they had paid the restaurant owners, who wished them well in three different languages - they still hadn’t figured out which one Y/N spoke, but Johnny guessed perhaps they could only speak French, Arabic and German and learning English had never occurred to them despite the large amount of English speaking tourists from all over the world flocking to visit their restaurant - Y/N claimed she wanted to see the Louvre. “They’re not open,” Johnny reminded her. “I don’t care, I just want to see the building and the pyramids and the Jardin des Tuileries.” “So you do speak French.” “Un petit peu.” A little bit. She stuck out her tongue at him and took off down the cobblestoned street, leaving Johnny to bite his own tongue and follow her. There was nothing in the world that could get him back to his hotel now that Y/N had compelled him to follow her to the Louvre. To get there, they crossed the Pont des Arts, the bridge that had previously held all the love lockets. “I never understood why people do that,” Y/N said as she looked out at Paris stretching out on all sides around her. “Do what?” Johnny asked, oblivious to the bridge’s previous purpose, aside from allowing passage across the Seine. His full attention was on Y/N in a way he could not describe. He started thinking maybe it was Paris making him think that he was forming a rarely occuring, deeply consuming bond with Y/N over their shared (in)competence in French, over their deep hatred for the sour type of mayonaise French people used on their sandwiches, over their love for all types of music, whether genuinely good or genuinely guilty pleasures. Perhaps he was turning into the main character of a cheesy romcom, in which they meet in Paris, fall in love in Paris and do everything in Paris, together, until they part ways. “Hang lockets on bridges to say they love each other. There’s nothing as unromantic as purchasing a locket and a key and pretending it’s your hearts forever locked together.” Her expression turned thoughtful. “Now that I put it like that, it actually sounds like something I would do. Just to prove that love is not dead. How about you?” “Me? I’m entirely living.” Y/N laughed, the sweet laugh that sounded like bells chiming on the wind. It occurred to Johnny that perhaps the fluorescent lights of the faux Italian restaurant had made him delirious. “You’re adorable,” she said, twinkling stars shining in Y/N’s eyes as she looked up at Johnny, towering over her. They had reached the other side of the bridge and now passed underneath an archway, out onto the square of the pyramids. It was still warm, no longer suffocatingly hot, and this caused there to still be a group of people at the square. As Y/N took out an analogue camera - what else had Johnny expected of her? - and snapped some pictures of the pyramids and the Louvre building, Johnny stood to the side, leaning against a wall as he watched her. The way she moved, the way the tip of her tongue poked out in her efforts to get the right shot… Johnny had to slap himself to wake him up. What was happening to him? He had never really thought of himself as a romantic person. Of course he had liked girls in the past, had thought he loved them, even. There were girls he hadn’t loved at all, girls he had only used for his own pleasure. He didn’t feel guilty about it, since the girls had only had shallow feelings for him as well. It was the life of a rockstar, his friends had told him. They thought he was living the dream. But perhaps it was all more of a nightmare, if the only people that you could ever lovingly caress, were people that only pleasured themselves with superficiality. Y/N was different. Whether that was because Johnny wanted her to be or because she truly was, he didn’t know, but for now, at least, he wanted her - in ways he could not explain. Perhaps it was not just the girl but also the city, Johnny thought as he followed Y/N across the square and to the park. Truly, it was the perfect night to visit a park like this, so far away from the busy streets of Paris but so in the middle of it. The city breathed ancientry and what Johnny had always thought was a particular movie romance idea, which he assumed would never be real. But following Y/N across the park until they reached an octogonal pond, surrounded by grass and chairs, he realized that perhaps he had been most pessimistic about love and movies and how movies depicted love. And truly, with all the people around… He wished they would all disappear except for her. “Let’s sit,” she said then, settling on the grass, not bothering with the nearby chairs. And Johnny sat next to her. And he watched her as she opened her bag and handed him a bottle of wine. “Have you been carrying that with you all day?” “I was waiting for the perfect moment.” “And this is it?” Johnny asked, feeling like he was a child on Christmas morning, being handed the bottle. “It might be.” She took out a collection of plastic cups. “This is wasteful. But I’ll recycle them, I promise.” She didn’t even seem to speak to him, Johnny thought as he filled the plastic cups to the brim with red wine, almost causing them to overflow. Y/N took the cup from him and they sat for a while. First in silence, then in a wild flurry of silly conversation. Sparked by the third cup of wine, Johnny said: “Come to my hotel with me.” And he could see she wanted to refuse, but perhaps she felt what he did, maybe only a little bit but perhaps. She nodded. If this had been a movie, Johnny thought, they would be playing some French victory song. Or perhaps not. They finished the wine and walked the last 15 minutes to the hotel. Due to Yuta matching up with a staff member - it had been because of an argument, but Johnny was thankful for that argument now - Johnny didn’t have to share his room this evening. But he did anyway, guiding Y/N through the velvet draped, shiny parquet floored lobby of the hotel to the elevators, a golden button waiting to be pressed. The hallways upstairs were much of the same, some fanciness and luxury, the place breathing of a far away, historian Frenchness. Johnny saw from the look on Y/N’s face that she was impressed, if not by the place around her by the fact that he could walk so confidently and unbotheredly around it. After a day at the hotel, and many hotels like these, Johnny had become accustomed to the beauty. Perhaps there would one day be something that would still shock him to take time and appreciate it - like the sunset at the bridge this evening or Y/N. But those were intangible things. He thought of Y/N as intangible as she entered his hotel room, took off her shoes as if to not destroy the burgundy carpeted floors. She spun around once, taking in the room and Johnny taking her in. “The wine made me tired,” she said. “Just lay down,” Johnny said, gesturing at the large bed. “Do you need something to sleep in?” “Nah. Come lay down with me.” Y/N lay down and patted the spot beside her on the bed. “I don’t know if I should.” He was tipsy. “I think you should.” She wasn’t tipsy. Johnny lay down anyway, making sure not to touch her. Until she turned and started pressing kisses to his cheek, creeping down to his neck. “Johnny Suh…” she mumbled against his neck. Huh, Johnny thought, he had not remembered telling her his last name…

Why you should be a flight attendant
When I was a little girl, growing up in the Czech Republic, there was this telenovela on TV (Muneca Brava) placed in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  I would watch this show for hours since I was obsessed with the main actor/singer Natalia Oreiro. If someone‘d told me back then, that I’d be flying to Argentina on a regular basis, I’d say they must have gone mad. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to remind myself that I in fact have the opportunity to fly to these amazing places , which I would have never thought of seeing one day.
Since I  started flying,  the concept of  traveling in itself has rather changed  for me. Once down route, you may only have 24 or 48 hours for exploring the certain destination. But let me tell you something; you have no idea how much a person can see or experience in such a short period of time. Before my flying career I’d think what’s the point of even getting out of your hotel room, if you only have a few hours to do something. But that is absolutely wrong thinking. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll see how fulfilling and exciting it can be to see the destination even only for 24 hours. That actually reminds me of one time in Buenos Aires with my close friend Vendy. After a 13 hours` flight from London to Argentina you may assume there is no energy left for further exploration of the city. But since we arrived in the morning, the plan was simple: having a 3 hours nap and then heading for dinner to one of the most famous restaurants in the whole Buenos Aires, called Don Julio in the area called Palermo. While queuing up to get in, we got talking to a lovely Australian family and other fellow travelers.   We enjoyed our delicious steak and Malbec red wine and asked the waiter where  the best place was  to go for Tango lessons. We ended up nearby, in the local old ball hall, which was rather scary at first glance. But after a few glasses of Malbec and a few attempts at Tango dances with the locals and our new aussie friend, all worries were forgotten. It was probably the most authentic experience I could have asked for. Around 1 am in the morning, we got into a taxi and headed back to the hotel. That was surely the longest day of my life, but it was totally worth it. The point I’m trying to make by telling you all this is  that no matter how much time you have , you should make the most of it while you can. You create incredible memories which you will never forget.
So, what else is there to do during one or two days? Maybe driving around Hollywood hills, Malibu and watching the sunset on Santa Monica beach in Los Angeles, or maybe wine tasting in Napa Valley, California. I’ve also watched the sea lions in San Fransisco bay and hiked through woodlands in the Washington state. I’ve  also tried kayaking and paddle boarding in Austin, Texas. I’ve seen more and experienced more in 2 years than some people in a decade, all thanks to my job. And even though it is hard sometimes, I never forget to feel grateful for having been given this opportunity.
Once on board, you get surrounded with all different kinds of people and you get to talk to them if you want to and get to listen to their stories. Sometimes you turn into a therapist, since some passengers may share a bit too much of their personal life. You also get to learn about different cultures since many of my colleagues are literally from all over the world. So you may learn a few words in Spanish, Dutch, Swedish, Romanian or Czech.
You spend about 15 days per month abroad; trust me, you really appreciate your bed back at home and you also fall in love with the home comings after a long trip.  Imagine returning from your trip on Monday mornings when you can just watch people rushing to work, while you can go back to your bed at home.
What else is great about this job?
1.       You gain muscles from closing all the overhead lockers on board and lifting your suitcases often
2.       You become a „house wife“ (you master your skills in the kitchen while on standby. You may rediscover painting with water colours once being bored on standby. And you may also start making homemade Kombucha like my friend Vendula, once being utterly bored on standby.
3.       You acquire an incredible amount of time for yourself, while down route or back home, which gives you the chance to watch all of the tv series which you have always had a eye on.
If you work in a regular office job, you usually spend time with the same people every day, which is nice, if you’ve bonded with them and created a little family environment, but you might agree with me that things aren’t always easy with some of your colleagues or your boss. Well, this is not the case in Aviation. If you dislike someone, you might never really see them  again, or, if need be, you just ask your senior to work in another part of the plane :)
Anyone who lives in the UK knows that winter is absolutely miserable out here. It’s grey and rainy and it’s windy and cold, which is rather depressing. Imagine that every week you get to escape all of that. I don’t need to dream about it, I am lucky enough to live it. The upcoming month I am rostered to fly to Rio de Janeiro and sunny Los Angeles. You are constantly on the move and you can enjoy sunny destinations even in the winter months, which is also one thing I adore about flying. Unless you are sent somewhere like Boston where it is minus 13 in January.

Tours of Texas: Thurber, TX - WHITL Woodworking

Tours of Texas: Thurber, TX
Tumblr media
Labor Day Weekend Jake and I decided to head down to see Jake’s parents. We were not there long before an adventure starts.
We decide to head about thirty minutes east to a small town on I-20 called Thurber, just off exit 367. Thurber was once famous for coal and then brickmaking. Its claim to fame when I was growing up was having a population of five people. What Thurber lacks in population it more than makes up for in great food. If you go to Thurber you have to eat at New York Hill Restaurant.

Thurber was the most important mine site in Texas for 30 years. 3,000 tons of coal were produced daily. This coal provided fuel mainly for the Texas and Pacific Railroad, but a dozen other RRs also used Thurber coal. By ensuring a plentiful coal supply, Thurber helped railroads open up the great southwest.

New York Hill
Known for its high-quality southern fare the New York Hill Restaurant doesn’t just serve some of the best Chicken Fried Steak in Texas it also provides some rich histories of the small Texas gem. Grab a steak or some chicken tenders, settle in, and get to know Thurber.
What we ate:
Sam – Texas Sizzler with a double order of green beans.
Jake – Chicken Tenders with a double order of fried okra.
John – Hamburger Steak with a loaded baked potato.
Judy – Hamburger Steak with mixed veggies.

History of Thurber Texas
Thurber had the best equipped brick plant west of the Mississippi. Manufactured from the area’s rich deposits of shale clay, Thurber brick paved hundreds of miles of Texas highways and streets: Congress Avenue in Austin; the Galveston sea wall; the Bankhead Highway; Camp Bowie, Main Street, and the stock yards in Fort Worth, etc.

One of the reasons we chose to go to New York Hill over other restaurants in the area is, unlike so many other places, New York Hill takes pride in serving something more than just passable food. Their chicken fry is light and airy; their green beans are served with pork back and as salty as your grandma made them; and their meat dishes are prepared without haste to ensure a tender, quality experience worth paying for.
Why the name “New York Hill”?
New York Hill gets its name from the rich settlers from the northeastern United States who lived on the famous hill overlooking Thurber. The restaurant itself is built on the site of the former Episcopalian church attended by the affluent northerners.

The Thurber coal miners’ strike of 1903, which ended when a contract was signed by John L Lewis and Edgar L. Marston (for Texas & Pacific) in the old Worth Hotel in Fort Worth, was the beginning of the labor movement in the southwest. Thurber became the only totally unionized town in the world, and had two UMW Locals; the English Local and the Italian Local.

After Eating we decide to go on a short road trip into the old mining town of Thurber. We pass by the smokestack (a smokestack landmark and adjoining restaurant that is all that is left from the brick-making industry that operated in the town) on our way to the Davidson Cemetery in Thurber.

Hundreds of European immigrants, representing eighteen ethnic groups, began working as coal miners and brick makers. The priest at the Catholic Church heard confessions in six languages. Thurber was a “melting pan” for Eastern European immigrants, providing an interesting and colorful cultural and ethnic mix. OTHER FACTS Thurber was the site of the last regularly scheduled stage coach in America. It ran from the Hotel Knox to Thurber Junction (now Mingus, Texas). The Metropolitan Opera troupe stopped in Thurber en- route from the east coast to the west coast. (The Italians loved operas.) Famous voices were heard in the Thurber Opera House, where ceiling fans had been installed (a rarity at that time). The Opera House seated more than 650 people, and VIP’s had their own box seats.

Davidson Cemetary
Cemeteries are not all that impressive in and of themselves but Thurber’s is unique. We stopped because from the road we could see a massive structure made of old brick. When we got closer we realized it was the cemetery and decided to take a look. It is an understatement to say that it is beautiful. The contrast of the brick on the green hills of Texas hill country at sunset makes for a picturesque place to stop and spend a few minutes. Something I personally had never seen before was a mausoleum built entirely of brick for one of the town fathers.

After another hour of driving around and looking at the countryside, we headed home. All in all, it was a good day and a great way to spend Labor Day weekend. If you ever find yourself on I-20 between Weatherford and Abilene be sure to check out all the rich history that Thurber has to offer.
