This was a concept painting for a fantasy Catholic Church that would be the site of a class change system in an rpg video game based on my historic fantasy project. The larger than life statues on the alter represent 5 class archichetypes: St Cyprian the patron saint of Magic representing magicians, St Joan of Arc patron saint of war representing warriors, St Christopher patron saint of travel and athletics representing good monsters, St Peter the first Pope representing Thuamaturges, and St Sebastian patron saint of Archery representing marksman. There is also a small shrine to St Micheal the archangel to represent those who seek to dabble in the Occult. The player of the supposed game would come to this church to reassign their characters skills, ultimately change the characters class, like going from a thumaturge Priest to a marksman Commando or a warrior Pugilist to a magical Green Magician. I based the church on the real life St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Pittsburgh PA located in the historic Strip District. It is a very traditional style church built in a cathedral style with gorgeous imported European stain glass windows that deserve to be included in art history text books. I loved the dark yet soothing atmosphere of the church, lit only by candle light and tinted sunlight. It's like walking into another world of Divine mystery. It was exactly the feel I wanted in my painted world so I almost copied the church verbatim, having to change little to change the historic St Stanislaus into a magical twilight realm of hope and possibility If you are in Pittsburgh I highly suggest you check out St Stanislaus, it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. https://www.instagram.com/p/CE9zXvZjjci/?igshid=18jqevmhse8nc
