i have left tea for you. i am sure you will find it
Thank you very much. It'll be shared with the rest of the bus. I'm sure that they will appreciate it.
As an update, they did in fact appreciate it. Sinclair especially liked the ssanghwa-cha and it apparently helped with his "tummy ache" as he described it.
Hong Lu looked nostalgic drinking the Lu'an melon seed tea you sent. Rodion did seem to like it as well, though stuck with the iced tea that was prepared for Don Quixote and Charon.
Outis, Heathcliff and Vergilius enjoyed theirs too, however I didn't catch what types they picked. Even with the lack of suitable apparatus, your gift was appreciated and LCB sends their thanks.

Tea and a Chat
With a knock upon their office door, Locke perked up. âAh- Come in.â
The familiar glow of a broken halo greeted Locke shortly after hearing the door shut once again. They turned around and gave a small surprised nod at Phillip. âIs something the matter...?â
âI just wanted to chat about... my place upon this floor.â
Locke tilted their head. "Um, sure... please, have a seat.â They motioned over at the little circle of cushioned chairs. âWould you like some tea? I just brewed myself some.â
âYou donât have to. Isnât it for you?â
âPlease, I always make just enough for two. It sounds like a waste, but...â Locke smiled as they sat down the books they were going through and soon took their own seat in the comfy circle. They carefully poured tea into a cup for themselves and another for Phillip and slid it over to him. â...Now, what exactly about your spot did you wanna talk about?â
âThe entire thing.â Phillip said bluntly. He could only look down into his teacup, seeing his murky reflection within. âI donât want to be here again- this place...â
Locke gave a pained look his way. â...Phillip, I know itâs difficult for you... frankly I donât like asking this either, but youâre still needed on this floor.â
âAs something that needs to be studied?â
âOh no- not at all!â They waved their hands, but the Patron Librarian knew he wasnât wrong at all.
Those were the intentions Angela had.
â...Well-â Locke held onto their own teacup. âPhillip, youâre perhaps the only one here who stood on the boundary between E.G.O. and Distortion. Thatâs how Binah says it, at least... Youâre not wrong that yes, we do want to know more about this phenomena. However... to me, thatâs not why I want you around.â
âThen why-â
âI said it before, didnât I?â Locke took a moment to sip their tea, looking up at Phillip with a small smile that seemed almost sad. âThis is a floor of second chances. This Library has taken a lot... L Corp has taken a lot from people. Iâve seen it with my own two eyes. I donât want this place to be like that... I want to help people.â They put their hands together, closing their eyes. âI know... I know itâs painful. I donât like it either, but...â
â...A long time ago I knew someone who reminds me of you.â Locke finally spoke after some time. âThey wanted to be a hero. I think... itâs safe to say they still do. Perhaps... this is their chance to be one.â They looked over to the window, gazing at the shimmering lights above the crystal treetops. âI know how you feel, Phillip. I just ask... can you stick around for a bit longer?â
The man didnât seem too convinced, but he gave a look and a slow, weak nod soon followed. âI... I guess.â He then took a sip of the tea- it somehow making him perk up a bit. âHey- is this-â
âChamomile.â Locke responded. âItâs one of my favorites. I used to drink it all the time when I couldnât sleep.â
âItâs not bad...â Phillip looked down.
âI can show you how to make it like that if youâd like. In turn, I do ask of one thing...â
âAnd that is?â
âI want to try Ssanghwa-cha. Iâve never had it before and... Iâve noticed you made some before for the other folk on the floor. Is it too much to ask if I could try some when you make it again?â
â...Not at all.â
âThank you, Phillip.â

BTS SEASONS GREETINGS 2021
Taehyung is drinking ssanghwa-cha (ěíě°¨ éĺčś), a medicinal tea with an egg yolk in the middle. It has a bitter taste The yolk is added as itâs the protein. This tea provides comfort when you feel exhausted or feel a cold coming. Itâs traditional tea that matches with 80-90s Korean Retro vibe.

The cup is medicine tea! It was very popular in the 70s/80s.
Called, ěíě°¨ | Ssanghwa Cha. It' has like, Paeony, Cnidium, Huang Qi, Liquorice, Cinnamon, Jujube, Dried Ginger and Rehmannia Root, sometimes even with egg yolk.
Used for physical strength, relief of pain, and the reduction of fatigue!!
Ohhh, thank you! I saw someone refer to it as coffee so I was... confused. xD
#i would be willing to try that without the egg#but i also don't blame him for choosing yakult instead#asks

Wake Up Kisses [Kyungsoo, Jongin, and Sehun]
Little note for Jonginâs. Â Ssanghwa Tang is a common Korean medicine and will be something people will recommend if you have a cold. Itâs brown and has a bitter taste. It was something I took when I was working in South Korea and a lot of my students did too when they were sick. I hated the taste and the smell, but my co-workers swore if I took it once a day Iâd get better (it did itâs job).
Culture fact of the day~ okay moving on!
Enjoy~
Kyungsoo
Rebecca loved when Kyungsoo spent the night at her place. She loved waking in his arms and the morning kisses he would give her if her was up first. There was a catch though, Kyungsoo could wake her up with kisses, but he absolutely hated when people woke him up. Rebecca never listened and would wake him up periodically.
When she woke up in Kyungsooâs arms she felt instant comfort. She could snuggle up in his arms and fall asleep if she really wanted to, but her stomach told her otherwise. Rebecca crawled out of bed to take a quick shower before she decided to make breakfast.
After her shower and change of clothes, Rebecca walked out of her bathroom with a towel in hand drying her hair. She smiled at Kyungsoo who was under the rays of the sun as he slept. He looked angelic like a sleeping angel. She put her towel over her chair as she made her way to his side of the bed. Rebecca sat beside him and ran her hand through his hair. She pressed a quick kiss to his cheek then his lips. She heard the groan of annoyance as she pulled from him. Her hand fell to his cheek, âSorry I woke you, but I couldnât help it.â She smiled.
Kyungsoo looked over her with a sleepy gaze before he moved to make room for her on the bed. He patted for her to lay down and she gave him a suspicious look. âI wonât do anythingâ he chuckled as a response to her gaze. Rebecca sighed as she moved beside him. However, his angelic look shifted to a smirk as he pinned her to the bed. Â âYou know you canât really believe me. You woke me up after I told you not to. You deserve a punishment.â
âNoâwaitâ Rebecca squealed as Kyungsoo relentlessly tickled her. Rebecca didnât get how Kyungsoo could be in an angel one moment and a devil in a matter of moments.
âPromise you wonât wake me again. Or I wonât stopâ Kyungsoo grinned as he was wide awake at this point and he watched his girlfriend who was trying to escape him.
âI promise! I promise! Pleaseâ she laughed as she curled up in defense before he stopped tickling her. As she caught her breath, Kyungsoo pressed a kiss on her lips and got out of bed to go to the bathroom. âYouâre a demon!â
âI know, love!â He called back before he shut the bathroom door.
Jongin
Sumin raced off to EXOâs dorm with medicine and ingredients for her boyfriend, Jongin. Junmyeon had texted her and let her know that they were going out and Jongin was stuck home with a cold. She had no plans that day, so she told Junmyeon sheâd go and keep in an eye on Jongin.
She used a spare key to enter and was greeted with silence. Sumin dropped the grocery bags in the kitchen and headed to Jonginâs room to check on him with Ssanghwa Tang in hand. She opened the door to see him fast asleep buried under the covers. She approached him and pulled the covers off his face as she placed the medicine on the nightstand. She put her hand on his forehead and felt instant heat, âStill have a fever.â Jongin groaned in response waking to the feeling of her cold hand. âDid you take medicine?â He nodded, his eyes still shut. Suminâs fingers guided through the top of his hair as she leaned down and kissed his cheek, âI brought more. Get up.â
Jongin groaned as he watched her get up from the bed, âYou shouldnât be here. What if I get you sick?â His voice was hoarse and she helped him sit up. âI donât want you getting sick because of me. I can handââ
She opened the ssanghwa tang and held it to his lips, âDrink it and shut up already. Are you hungry?â He shot her a glare, but his stomach betrayed him with a growl. Sumin smirked, âWell that answered my question, Iâll make you some soup, so relax in bed and Iâll be back.â As she left, she heard Jongin whine about being alone and he weakly got himself out of bed with the comforter and followed her up until the living room.
Jongin got well pretty fast after that as Sumin took care of him each day. However, Sumin ended with the exact same cold and had to deal with Jonginâs I told you so as he tended to her. The things she did for love.
Sehun
It was Sehunâs birthday and he had stayed at Myungheeâs place after she pleaded for him to so they could spend his birthday together. She planned to make him breakfast in bed. However, when she woke up wrapped in Sehunâs arms, she had half a mind to stay there. It was rare to wake up in her boyfriendâs arms and she always slept better with him around. She pecked the tip of his nose and whispered happy birthday even though her was out like a light before she slipped out of his arms.
Myunghee made him all his favorite food as well as some seaweed soup for him then placed it all on a tray with tea and orange juice. She balanced the tray in her hands as she returned to her bedroom to wake her boyfriend. With a bit of a struggle, she was able to put the tray on the dresser and went to Sehunâs side to wake him. âOppaâŚâ She touched his shoulder as she shook him lightly. Sehun responded with a groan, but didnât wake up. She sighed as she leaned down and pecked his slightly parted lips then shook him once more, âSehun oppa, wake up.â
His eyes opened slowly and he met her gaze, âWhaaaâ he whined still half asleep.
âHappy birthdayâ her eyes twinkled as her lips pulled to a small smile, âI made you breakfast.â As Sehun sat up, Myunghee went to retrieve the tray of food and placed it in front of him as he rubbed his eyes. Sehun didnât touch the food and looked at Myunghee, âWhatâs wrong?â
He let out a huff, âYou woke me up for food. You could at least feed me.â
She rolled her eyes, âJust because itâs your birthday doesnât mean you can be a brat.â
âThatâs exactly what it means, love. Now get to feedingâ he opened his mouth for her to feed him. With a scoff and an eye roll, she picked up the chopsticks and fed him. He gave a grin in appreciation as he chewed the food she made him.

Getting sick in Korea
After our second day in Busan, I got sick with a pretty annoying cold. It manifested itself entirely in my respiratory system and my nose has yet to stop producing snot - it has been over a week since I got sick.Â
My nose was extremely stuffed up, my whole body ached, and I just felt miserable. The great thing about Korea is that they are OBSESSED with health care and taking any means necessary to be healthy. This meant that I had some of the most affordable medicine and health care at my finger tips. The bad thing about Korea is that they are obsessed with health care and being healthy - this means there is a little bit of a stigma attached with being visibly sick/coughing/snotting everywhere. Additionally, if you mention in passing that you are sick or feeling sick Koreans will kill you with kindness in all their recommendations and prescriptions for ways for you to get better. A lot of the time they freak out and think that maybe you should go to the hospital. For them, health care is so affordable and easy to access that a trip to the doctor is a no brainer for any ailment.Â
Chris and I had had intentions to go see my Uncle Eddie and aunt who were putting on a concert at the college where my uncle is a professor in Ulsan. Unfortunately, I got too sick and both my uncle and cousin insisted that it would be better if I stayed in Busan. Both recommended that maybe I should go to the hospital, haha.Â
Instead, I just went to the pharmacies and picked up decongestants, painkillers, vitamins, and herbal drinks. A korean pharmacy is different than in the US. You canât get anything without first asking a pharmacist. You donât need a prescription for most things, but you do have to consult the pharmacist before you can get anything - even advil. As an aside, birth control pills are available without prescription in Korea and they all cost around $10. Things like that makes me furious with the health care system in the US.Â
ANYWAY. So I got my western medicine and then I got some herbal remedies. One thing that I learned from my friends at Flower Child was that Koreans love these drinkable vitamin and herbal medicines. One, which is available at convenience stores and pharmacies, is just a huge dose of vitamin c.Â
The other is this herbal drink that you are meant to consume warm. It tastes a little bitter, but also sweet. Itâs dark, a little syrupy, and smells a little like licorice. The only thing Iâve tasted that had a similar flavor was bee propolis, which is in itself a weird homeopathic remedy and most people have probably not tried it. I had no idea what it was called, but a quick google search revealed that it is called Ssanghwatang or Ssanghwa Gold and is made up of several different herbs.Â
Sadly, my cold slightly tainted our time in Busan. It never got so bad that I needed to go to the hospital, but I was not feeling great for several days and the cold is still lingering as I write this in Tokyo.Â
Being sick while traveling SUCKS. I think that is obvious, but I felt obligated to write that out. I missed being able to curl up in my own bed, get disgustingly surrounded by tissues, make myself soup and tea, and watch hours and hours of Netflix. Instead, I was staying in a strangers home, in a foreign place where I only had a few days to really explore and enjoy it. I felt this guilt about staying in, so I think I mightâve prolonged this cold because I didnât stay indoors for the duration of the worst of the cold. Instead, Chris and I did small trips around the neighborhood and at the first sign of me getting my strength back we took some bigger trips to do some more sightseeing.Â
The nice thing is that korean food is the perfect cold food - lots of soups, spicy foods for clearing the sinuses, kimchi for good stomach health, and warm broths.Â
I still have to take it slow every day. Traveling has made me painfully aware of how long it takes for the body to get over something as stupid as a common cold.

Are you late, too?â (Oh!
