What is Power of Raam Naam
As we all know Rama is a two letter mantra derived out of the ashtakshara (Aum Na mo Na ra ya na ya) and Panchakshara (Na ma Shi va ya).
Once Goddess Parvathi asked Lord Shiva how can a lay man achieve the benefits of reciting Vishnu sahasranama which is basically read by learned schlors.
For which Lord Shiva answered: "Keno Payena lakuna vishnoor naama sahasrakam - Patyathe pandithair nithyam srothumicchyaamyaham Prabho". "Just by reciting rama rama rama. Rama nama has the essence of Vishnu sahasranama or 1000 names of Lord Vishnu".
This is told in the sloka "sri rama rama ramethi rame rame manorame sahasranama thathulyam rama nama varanane"
Rama nama is so sweet as a nectar. It gives happiness to the mind.
Whatever comes in our way as an obstacle, Rama namam will protect us.
What we desire to have, we get it,that is the prowess of the nama.
The celestial s too sing the pride of this taraka mantra and it installs bravery in one's heart
The power of Rama nama is depicted by Lord Hanuman (Ever living - chiranjeevi). He crossed the ocean by chanting the Rama nama. Rama built a bridge across the ocean to reach Lanka, but hanuman just like that crossed the Ocean by just chanting Rama nama. So this means, Rama nama is mightier than Lord Rama himself.
Let us all chant, Hari and Shiva who are one and Rama nama gives happiness both in this birth and in the next birth. It erases the difficulties of the devotees, cures the illness. Let us all chant the nectar like Rama nama daily and get his blessings.
Every other mantra in our scriptures have their own names. Rama Nama is the only Mantra that is called ‘Taraka Mantra’. The word ‘taraka’ means the one that helps us cross. It helps us cross the ocean of ‘samsara’. It helps us cross the cycles of birth and death. If it is chanted as ‘Rama’, then it is a Nama.
If it is chanted ‘Ram’, then it is a Mantra.
Our ancient Sages and Rishis have glorified the Rama Nama.
Rama Nama gets exactly the same importance in Saguna Upasana (worshipping the Absolute Truth as a Being with a form) as does the Pranava (‘Om’) Mantra in Nirguna Upasana (worshipping the Absolute Truth as formless).
Rishi Manu shows that the Rama Nama has links to all the other mantras that ever exist.
In Syavana Smriti (Syavana is the name of a rishi), Syavana says that the Rama Nama is the essence of all the Vedas, Shastras, Itihasas and Puranas.
Sage Vasishta meditated on the Rama Nama for quite a long time. Hence he wanted to name the Almighty with the same Mantra that he had chanted.
THE YOGA CONNECTION
In the philosophy of the Yoga, ‘Ra’ is considered the ‘Mooladhara’ (the point of origin of the power of Kundalini) and ‘Ma’ is the ‘Sahasrara’ (the destination). Hence, when the Rama Nama is chanted in the right tone and manner, the serpent power rises and hits the head or the ‘kapala’ Thus, by merely chanting the Rama Nama, one can become a Yogi.
In Vishnu Sahasranamam, Lord Siva asks Parvati to chant the Rama Nama all the time. A good teacher is the one who practices what he preaches. It is obvious that Siva, being the Supreme Guru, (Jagadguru) Himself chants the Rama Nama. When parents do something noble, would not the son follow the same? Muruga and Ganesha chant the Rama Nama always. That is verily their ‘Kula Mantra’.
Sage Vishwamitra took Sri Rama and Lakshmana to the forests for ‘yagna samrakshana’ (protecting their fire austerities from the demons). Out of the boundless love for Sri Rama, Viswamnitra wanted to gift Him something. A sage that he was, he had no worldly possessions, nevertheless, he had performed an abundance of austerities. He had penanced for a very long time on crores of ‘Devatas’ with mantras for each of them. He initiated Sri Rama with these Mantras.
As soon as the Mantras were initiated to Sri Rama, the ‘devatas’ appeared before them! Viswamitra was jealous of the fact that those devatas who could be invoked by him only after severe penances, now appeared the instant Sri Rama chanted their Mantras!
In our Shastras it is prescribed that when the devatas are invited, they can be installed in one of the three — water (that is the reason we install ‘kalas’ – pots of water for japa, kumbabhishekam and the like), fire (that is the reason we perform homam) and the third being, installing them into one’s own body (during Sandhyavandanam, Goddess Gayathri is installed thus). Here, when the devatas were invoked, they refused to go back to their abodes. Hence Sri Rama invited one and all of them into his body. Thus, by merely chanting the Rama Nama, one gets the benefit of invoking all the 33 crores of devatas as well.
Ramayana is filled with instances where merely the Name ‘Rama’ has solved so many miseries and disentangled so many situations.
ONE NAME FOR ALL GODS
Generally, people can be divided into two broad categories: the Shaivites, who worship Lord Shiva as the supreme, and the Vaishnavites, who worship Lord Vishnu and His forms as the Supreme Being. The most significant Mantra for any Vaishnavite is the ‘Ashtakshari’ (it contains eight letters in Sanskrit) mantra ‘Om Namo Narayana’.
The chief among the Mantras for the Shaivites is the Panchakshari (5 lettered) mantra, ‘Om Nama Shivaya’. Without the letter ‘ra’, ‘Narayana’ would read as ‘Nayana’ that means one without a way (‘gati’); without the letter, ‘ma’, ‘Namasivaya’ would read as ‘Nasivaya’ that means inauspicious.
So the jiva akshara (life-giving letters) ‘Ra’ and ‘Ma’ of these two Mantras are put together to form the Rama Nama! Anyone chanting this Divine Name thus worships both Shiva and Vishnu at the same time.
Also, Here its is
One very famous and old true incident of 15th century!
Once there was a very wealthy Seth (businessman) in the current Uttar Pradesh. He was suffering from leprosy disease (vitiligo as we say white spots) for long time and therefore he plans to end his life by taking Samadhi in Ganga Ji.
He along with his family members and friends came to Ganga river and they saw Kamaal. (son of Kabiradas Ji)
Kamaal inquired about everything and smiled.
Kamaal: Seth! What if I remove this leprosy completely from your body?
Seth: I will give half of my wealth to you Maharaj instantly.
Kamaal: Keep your wealth with you. I don't want anything. Just chant Ram once from the bottom of your heart and take a dip in Ganga.
Seth did what Kamaal told, but nothing happened.
Kamaal: You didn't chant Ram from your whole heart. Do it one more time and take a dip.
Again! Nothing happened.
Now Kamaal asked him to say Ram for the third time and while Seth was taking a dip, Kamaal hit his head with a wodden stick.
Seth was horrified and terrified due to this sudden attack and he cried out Ram naam from the bottom of his heart finally.
And magic happened!
His leprosy disease vanished completely.
Kamaal was very happy seeing this and he hurriedly came to Kabiradas Ji and told him everything.
Kabiradas Ji was very sad hearing this that Kamaal had to take Ram naam for 3 times to cure a disease.
Saying Ram for 3 times for such a small purpose made Kabiradas Ji very angry.
He sent Kamaal to Tulsidas Ji who was Param Ram Bhakt with a letter.
Tulsidas Ji read the letter when Kamaal came to him and it was written:
“Dooba Vansh Kabir Ka Upje Poot Kamaal”
“Teen Ram Ke Naam Se Kodi Kiyo Bahaal”
My lineage has drowned when son like Kamaal born who had to take 3 Ram nam for curing a leprosy disease.
Tulsidas Ji smiled and ordered that whoever wants to cure leprosy disease gather at my ashram.
Around 1k patient of leprosy disease gathered from many villages.
Tulsidas Ji came and chant Ram naam only once on the water in his hands and then sprinkled that water on those patients.
And again magic happened!
Every single patient became disease free. Leprosy was vanished from each and everyone's body.
Kamaal returned home and told the incident as it is to Kabiradas Ji.
Kabirdas Ji was not satisfied even after that.
He sent Kamaal to Soordas Ji who was Param Krishna Bhakt.
Soordas Ji was laying on Raman Reti and his eyes were full of tears of love of Govind. He was in dhyan avastha.
Kamaal went to Soordas Ji and told him both the incidents briefly to Soordas Ji.
Soordas Ji: Look at the Yamuna river Kamaal. There is a dead body flowing in it.
Kamaal: Yes! There is a dead body. You doesn't look blind to me at all!
Soordas Ji: (smiling) Take that body out from the river and bring it to me.
Kamaal took the body out and took it before Soordas Ji.
Then Soordas Ji with his heart full of love amd bhakti of Govind, chanted Ra only out of complete Ram and suddenly the dead body became alive and that man stood in front of everybody like he's waken up from a long sleep.
Again magic happened!
Saying half of Ram naam can make a dead into alive!
Valmiki became like a God by chanting Ram naam backwards.
Shri Hanuman Ji Maharaj control Shri Ram himself by continuously chanting Ram naam.
Shri Mahadev took the Halaahal poison and it became an ornament for him because of continous Ram naam jaap.
new
Lord Rama is the Supreme Lord himself and any paraphernalia associated with him has his qualities invested in them, then what to speak of his holy name!
In Bhagavad Gita (10.25), Lord Krishna says as follows:
maharṣīṇāṁ bhṛgur ahaṁ girām asmy ekam akṣaram yajñānāṁ japa-yajño ’smi sthāvarāṇāṁ himālayaḥ
Of the great sages I am Bhṛgu; of vibrations I am the transcendental oṁ. Of sacrifices I am the chanting of the holy names [japa], and of immovable things I am the Himālayas.
From this, we can understand that the chanting of the holy names of the lord hold the highest position amongst all other forms of sacrifice.
Why is that? you may ask
It is explained in the scriptures that the Lord has invested all his energies and glories into his holy name.
There are some practical examples where it has been shown that the holy names of the Lord are very powerful, and in some cases, even more powerful that the lord himself!
Evidence from Scripture In the phala sruti of Sri Vishnu Sahasranama, it is said as follows: sri rAma rAma rAmeti rame rAme manorame sahasra nAma tat tulyam rAma nAma varAnane As stated by Lord Siva to PArvati - if you just chant the name "Rama",it is equivalent to chanting the 1000 names of Sri MahA Vishnu"
The Transformation of Valmiki There lived a dacoit in the treta yuga who was quite proud of his profession. One day he happened to come across a few sages. Even though he knew they would not have anything of much value to him, he decided to try his luck by approaching the sages with the intent of robbing them. The sages asked him if he was aware of the amount of negative karma his actions would bring him, to which he replied that he only had his family’s best interest in mind. The sages then advised him to ask his family members if they would be willing to share the results of his impious acts. When he asked his family members this question, they laughed and thought he was stupid to even ask such a ridiculous question. This made him realise the worth of his actions, after which he apologised to the sages. The sages gave him to chant the holy names of Lord Rama, following which he was completely transformed into the saint whom we now know as Valmiki.
The incident with Lord Shiva When Lord Brahma recited the Ramayana, it comprised of 100 crore stanzas. Due to concerns of ownership of the scripture, Lord Vishnu divided the Ramayana into 3 sections - 1/3rd was given to MahaLaxmi, 1/3rd to Garuda and 1/3rd to Shesha. At the end of the division remained 2 words: Ra and Ma. These were given to Lord Shiva. These words became the object of meditation of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva also promises to give Rama Nama to his devotees in Kashi to grant them liberation.
The incident with Hanuman Once upon a time, Lord Rama was meeting with sages in Ayodhya. As the sages left Ayodhya, Hanuman offered his obeisances to all sages except Vishwamitra. Vishwamitra was furious at this and demanded that Lord Rama execute the offender. Lord Rama being a noble and just king, obliged. Hanuman took shelter of the holy name of Lord Rama. When Lord Rama shot his arrows at Hanuman, the arrows had no effect on Hanuman. (Please keep in mind that this Lila was plotted by Narada to demonstrate the power of the holy name of Lord Rama)
The incident with the Vanaras If you have heard the story of the Ramayana you would be familiar with how the monkeys accomplished the mighty task of building a bridge from Rameshwaram to Lanka by inscribing Lord Rama’s name on rocks and plunging them in water. Due to the strength of the Holy name, the rocks floated on water.
The story of Vibhishana When Vibhishana left Lanka with his attendants, his associates were wondering how Lord Rama was able to build the bridge across to Lanka. Vibhishana explained to them that it was merely the power of the Holy name. The attendant was skeptical and Vibhishana decided that a demonstration was in order. He handed the attendant a folded up leaf with Rama’s name on it and told him to cross the ocean. The attendant may have been skeptical about Rama’s name but he had faith in Vibhishana’s words. He took the leaf and started crossing the ocean which, to his surprise was only knee deep for him. He kept walking until he reached the midway point. Then out of curiosity, he opened the leaf and read Rama’s name. His skepticism returned. How can such a simple name be so powerful as to make the ocean knee deep? Unfortunately for him, the moment he doubted the power of Rama’s name, the ocean swallowed him up. (Taken from Holy name story: Vibhishana and leaf with name Rama!)
The story of Mother Sita When Hanuman saw Mother Sita in the Ashoka Vatika, she was unkempt and chanting the holy names of Lord Rama. She states to Hanuman that only due to the power of the holy name has she been able to survive in Lanka.

ilati means inducement or orders. As He is without it, as He is not subject to the inducement or command of another, He is Anilaḥ.
ilati may mean svapiti - sleeps. So one who is ignorant or sleeps to knowledge is ilaḥ. Since Paramātma is the opposite of it as He is eternally awake in wisdom, He is Anilaḥ.
The root nila is used in the sense of dense or inaccessibility. He is not inaccessible to devotees; so He is Anilaḥ.

Sanatkumāra said:—
After saying so and consoling the gods, the excellent sage went to the assembly chamber of Jalandhara to see the favourite Asura.
On seeing the excellent sage, the king Jalandhara stood up and offered him a splendid seat with great devotion.
After worshipping him duly the surprised king of the Asuras laughed loudly and spoke to the excellent sage.
Jalandhara said:—
O brahmin, whence do you come from? What did you see here? O sage, what is the aim of your present visit here?
Sanatkumāra said:—
On hearing these words of king Jalandhara the delighted great sage Nārada replied to him.
Nārada said:—
O Jalandhara of great intellect, O lord of Dānavas and Daityas, O lord of all the worlds, you are blessed. You alone are the enjoyer of all jewels.
O excellent king of Daityas, listen to the purpose for which I have come here. I shall explain it to you.
O lord of Daityas, I had been to the summit of Kailāsa casually. It is ten thousand Yojanas wide. It has a grove of Kalpa trees.

"A" mood has gone, now "B" mood is here, and you are simply a watcher. Suddenly you will realize that when you call happiness "A," it is not so happy; and when you call unhappiness "B," it is not so unhappy. Just by calling the moods "A" and "B" a distance is created. When you say happiness, much is implied in the word.  You are saying you want to cling to it, that you don't want it to go. When you say unhappy, you are not just using a word; much is implied in it.
You are saying that you don't want it, that it should not be there. All these things are said unconsciously. So use these new terms for your moods for seven days. Just be a watcher--as if you are sitting on top of the hill, and in the valley clouds and sunrises and sunsets come, and sometimes it is day and sometimes night. Just be a watcher on the hill, far away.

What is Ekadashi? Is it auspicious?
Tumblr media
Ekadashi is the eleventh day or tithi of the lunar phase, it is also known to be an auspicious day to worship lord Vishnu. Ekadashi signifies eleven (‘eka’ means one, and ‘das’ means ten). The Ekadasi day is a significant day for Hindus dedicated to Lord Vishnu. People observe fast for an entire day. Ekadashi fasting is known as Ekadashi Vrat/Vrutam, and because this day happens twice a month (in the waxing and waning phases), devotees can observe two Ekadashi Vrats in a month.
What are the benefits of Ekadashi fasting? Get an online astrology consultation by the world-renowned Astrologer Mr. Alok Khandelwal.
Every Ekadashi is an occasion for spiritual seekers to step up their devotional service. According to the Vedic teachings, on this day, one should fast completely without drinking water. It should be a day with little or no worldly concerns, and those who maintain proper Ekadashi Vrat can free themselves of the harmful influences of the planets and malevolent ideas. Such restraint has enormous spiritual advantages and provides the necessary peace of mind.
Ekadashi Vrat
The Ekadashi Vrat begins at dawn and finishes with daybreak the next day. It should be conducted on a day that is not affected by Dashami, or the tenth lunar day. Fasting can be observed on the eleventh tithi/Dashami if it concludes 96 minutes before dawn. If the Dashami does not conclude 96 minutes before dawn, devotees should begin the Ekadashi fasting at the following sunrise.
Everyone between the ages of eight and eighty is advised to fast completely on Ekadashi, regardless of gender or social class. Those who are unable to stomach such austerity might observe Ekadashi Vrat by eating only once, either at midday or in the evening. However, food items considered banned on Ekadashi should not be consumed.

How to observe Ekadashi Vrat?
Ekadashi Vrat begins with sunrise, one should get up early and worship Lord Vishnu with a light, incense stick, and Tulsi leaves picked a day before.
Afull fast is encouraged, one might begin fasting at sundown the previous day to guarantee that no undigested food remains in the stomach.
Paying a visit to a Vishnu temple and chanting Sri Vishnu Sahasranama will assist to strengthen the spiritual drive.
Those who are unable to fast completely can eat once. However, one should take care to eat only those foods that are not prohibited on Ekadashi.
Avoid non-veg meals, meat, fish, eggs, etc., mushrooms, intoxicants like tobacco and liquor, and beverages like tea, coffee, cola, and other energy drinks.
To conclude the Ekadashi Vrat, one can take a bath the next morning (Dwadasi), worship Lord Vishnu, and break the fast during the Parana hour, which varies per Dwadasi.
Fresh and dried fruits, vegetables, nuts and nut oils, milk, coconut, cassava, potato, sweet potato, buckwheat, olive, sugar, rock salt, pepper, ginger, and so on are permitted on Ekadashi.
All grains, peas, beans, tulsi, tamarind, custard, sesame seeds, mustard, salt, baking soda, baking powder, asafoetida, cloves, fenugreek, cardamom, nutmeg, fennel, and other spices should be avoided.
To reap the full benefits of Ekadashi Vrat, one should fast completely or eat just water. A devotee might break the Ekadashi fast by eating fruits and slowly rehydrating the body. Those who are unable to fast completely due to medical reasons may consume a single meal of authorized items such as fruits, roots, milk, almonds, and so on.
The main purpose of fasting is to ingest just what is absolutely necessary. Chanting prayers engages the mind, preventing it from succumbing to the demands or temptations of the body and senses. Those who are new to Ekadashi Vrat might attempt to complete a shorter fast. He/she may eat a single meal of authorized foods or Anukalpa (the non-grain Ekadashi prasad). By completing the shorter fasts successfully, one might progressively gain the strength and willpower needed to observe a water fast or a total fast. Devotees who observe a severe fast should not be proud of their accomplishments or try to flaunt their austerities. The propensity to talk about austerity should be managed and avoided.
Spiritual Importance
It is said that devotional rituals done on Ekadashis are more powerful. Devotees should view each Ekadasi as a chance to grow on their spiritual journey. Observing the Vrat and participating in poojas and kirtans assist devotees in freeing their minds from material cravings. The key to accomplishing the spiritual objective is to have the strength to bear the austerities and to resist emotional and sensual temptations. The main premise of Ekadashi Vrat is to avoid not just food but also the demands of the body and senses. It also involves inhibiting sexual cravings. Human existence is designed to be lived in such a way that it avoids food, sex, and other material needs. Devotees can purify themselves both inside and outward by doing so.

“UMASAHASRAM” AND ITS COMPOSITION
Tumblr media
🕉️
“Uma Sahasram” is a 1000-verse poem on the Divine Mother Parvati / Uma, Composed by Vaśiṣṭha Kavyakantha Ganapati Muni.
🕉️
Articulated by Sri K. Natesan in Collected Works of Vasishtha Kavyakantha Ganapati Muni.
It is customary in our spiritual tradition to endow the nameless, formless, qualityless Absolute Brahman with a thousand names (sahasranama) or with three hundred names (trishati), and also with one hundred and eight names (ashtottarashatanama). It is a unique experience to worship the Lord with these Divine names.
"Umatrishati'', three hundred names of goddess Uma, is a most beautiful composition of the seerpoet Kavyakantha. This is one of his powerful, potent mantric utterances. The sound OM consists of three letters A U M. The word UMA too has these three letters in a transposed manner. This is the name of the Primordial Shakti, the Mother Goddess of the universe. In tantrashastra, Uma is considered to be the shaktapranava. Therefore, the trishati befittingly starts with the names Uma and Haimavati. The stories of Devi Mahatmyam find a place in this namavali (garland of names). The names of Navadurga; the ten cosmic powers of the Goddess, Dasha Mahavidya; the Saptamatrka (various incarnations of the goddess) are described in this poem. The saguna (with form) attributes of the Goddess from the tresses on her head down to her feet are also briefly narrated in some elegant verses. The trishati is an exceedingly terse composition. The poet says in the concluding verse that he has churned the ocean of all the vedas and shastras, taken the essence, the cream, which is the nectar in the form of the ``Three Hundred Names of Uma''. A recital of these names of Uma restores a person's poise in the Self and also dispels the fear of enemies, diseases, death and all other obstacles.
In Umashatakam goddess Uma, the Mother of the Universe, is adored in a hundred verses distributed over ten sections, each having ten verses. The first section explains the svarupa (characterstic nature) of Uma. The second and third deal with surrender. The fourth one is a prayer. Apitakuchamba, the consort of Arunachala, is praised in the fifth. The sixth extols the glory of the names of goddess Uma. The poet exhibits his genius in versification in both the seventh and eighth sections. In the eighth section the ten incarnations of Vishnu are also mentioned. The poet praises the compassionate glance of the Goddess in the ninth, and the spiritual aspect of the Goddess is extolled in the concluding ten verses.
Umaksharamala extolls goddess Uma in fifty verses arranged in Sanskrit alphabetical order. All the vowels and consonants of the Sanskrit alphabet have been made use of in this poem.
Umasahasram is the magnum opus of the Muni which he wrote after he accepted Sri Ramana Maharshi as his guru. He composed the Umasahasram as a part of his tapas, in gratitude to the great Goddess Uma for having given him the Maharshi as his Master. After the momentous meeting with the Maharshi in 1907, the Muni wanted to continue his tapas. At the suggestion of Sri Maharshi he repaired to the Mango Tree Cave in the Arunachala hills. Here he decided to compose a thousand verses in praise of goddess Uma, and the Maharshi gave his tacit approval and blessings. The Muni took a vow that he would complete the thousand verses in twenty days and started the composition on 26.11.1907. But no sooner did he begin the work an obstacle took place: a severe whitlow on the writing finger of his right hand afflicted him. But by the grace of the Goddess the finger healed miraculously and he resumed his writing.
On the last day (15.12.1907) he had yet to compose more than 200 verses. Resolutely facing the situation, he engaged five scribes and feverishly dictated all the required verses in the night. The Maharshi sat by his side with his eyes closed. It was midnight and all the verses of the Umasahasram were completed. The Maharshi then slightly opened his eyes and asked: ``Have you written down all that was said?'' ``With your abounding grace I have completed the task,'' replied the Muni, realizing that he owed to the Maharshi the sudden flurry of inspiration that seized him, enabling him to complete his immortal poem on Uma. As a result, each verse of Umasahasram has the potency of a mantra. A devoted recital or even the mere reading of it can bestow all happiness on the devout aspirant. As part of his tapas, the poet revised this sacred text seven times. A copy of the final text, in Ganapati Muni's own handwriting, was presented to Sri Aurobindo, before they met.
The text is divided into forty cantos, each having twentyfive verses. All the verses in each canto are of the same meter. In all, the poet has used twentynine different meters in this work. The first verse of each canto is a benedictory verse, extolling the smile of the Goddess Uma. The last verse in each canto mentions the name of the meter employed in the canto. The process of creation, the supreme form of the Empress of all, the manifestation of the Vedic and Tantric deities, the means to win their grace, yogic experiences resulting from their upasana, the truth of the ten great vidyas, the way of their adoration, the relevant sadhanas in the Upanishads such are the profound truths presented by the seerpoet in sublime poetry, drawing from the deep reservoir of his personal spiritual experiences. Umasahasram is a living synthesis of the Veda, the Upanishads and the Tantra, built out of his lifelong realization in Yoga. Each verse opens the door to spiritual experience.

Happy world book day: Importance of Scriptural Evidence in Hinduism
Tumblr media
In  Indian philosophy, there are six types of Pramana among which three types are considered major ones and accepted by most of the schools of Indian philosophy
Pramana means that which yields knowledge (prama Karanam pramanam)
Pratyaksha is the first means of knowledge – pratyaksha means that which is seen with ones very own eyes, or in a broader sense, one’s perceptual evidence. Though this is the first in the list of means of knowledge, this is considered to be very limited. Because one’s own life is limited and also their personal experiences and perceptions, sometimes they can also be faulty.
Anumana is the second means of knowledge in the order  anumana means inference, logical guess or assumption. A classical example for anumana is if smoke is visible, then there may be fire which is burning.  Prakyaksha and anumana work hand in hand most of the times to arrive conclusions.
Upamāṇa pramana (comparison and analogy) is the next in the list of pramanas, for comparison and analogy also. The scriptural material plays a vital role.
Arthapatti (postulation, presumption) in next the list of pramanas, generally considered the weakest of the pramanas by most of the schools
Anupalabdi ( non-perception, negative/cognitive proof.) such as understanding that something is absent or something is not present
The last in the order is shabda pramana, (word or testimony) or textual evidence, in my opinion this is one of the greatest pramana, (means of knowledge) to understand or learn something, we depend largely on textual evidence, because it is the collected record of experiences, perceptions and inference of great ones, the experts, the real intellectuals and the wise.
Vedas (shruti) is the first and foremost and ultimate shabda pramana in hindu philosophy, smrutis, purana, itihasa, and other sacred scriptures also fall under this category.
The Vedanta, Sankhya and yoga schools accept pratyaksha. Anumana, and shabda as the main and reliable pramanas among which shabda pramana is of foremost importance
By this we can conclude that the testimonial evidence of word or textual evidence, of past or present reliable experts is the most proper and wide means of knowledge.
To acquire detailed knowledge on any matter, books are thus the best source, reading is the best practice.
To learn and acquire knowledge on various topics of Hinduism please read, read more…
To read the translations and commentaries of sacred scriptures of Hinduism  in simple English you can get my books from Amazon and other online book stores.

Celebrating Lord Venkateshwara’s Grand Festival-Srivari Brahmotsavam 2020
Srivari Brahmotsavasam is celebrated in the month of September and October every year, praising the fame of Lord Venkateshwara, and Goddess Padmavathi on the eve of Dussehra festival. Do you know that Lord Venkateshwara is the only God who enjoys more than 450 festivals celebrated in a year? Among all festivals, Brahmotsavams are the most popular ones.
Significance and history behind Tirumala Brahmotsavams
Brahmotsavam by the name has Brahma, the creator, and Utsavam means celebration, i.e., celebrations initiated by the creator Brahma for Lord Venkateshwara. History says that Brahma comes to earth to conduct the festival for Lord Venkateshwara by chanting Sri Venkateshwara Sahasranama Stotra. The festival was signified by a small, empty wooden chariot called Brahmarathnam, which moves ahead of the processions of Lord Venkateshwara.
What to know about Tirumala Brahmotsavams 2020?
It is a 9-day festival celebration of Lord Venkateshwara, which starts on the 19th of September, 2020, that falls on Saturday.
The first day (19-09-2020)
The morning begins with Dwajarohana, raising the Garuda Flag, which signifies the beginning of the festival. The same day night, we can see Lord Venkateshwara taking processions on a large seven-headed Adisesha Vahana.
The second day (20-09-2020)
In the morning, Swami appears on a small five-headed Adisesha Vahana and takes processions. Similarly, in the night, it is Hamsa Vahana in which you can see Lord Venkateshwara sitting on Hamsa, the swan, and taking processions.
The third day (21-09-2020)
The third morning begins with the Lord Venkateshwara appearing as gigantic and courageous in Simha Vahana, the Lion, and takes processions. The day ends with the Swami appearing on Muthyapu Pandiri Vahana, decorated with colorful and fragrant flowers.
The fourth day (22-09-2020)
The morning starts with the Swami taking processions in the amazing Kalpa Vriksha Vahana. Kalpa Vriksham is a tree that is believed to give unlimited money. You should definitely have more than two eyes to see the shine of both Vahana and Swami. Now at the end of the day, we can see the Lord in Sarva Bhoopala Vahana. In this Vahana, the chariot appears like the decoration inside the Garbagudi of the main idol.
The fifth day (23-09-2020)
Now we move to the fifth day morning to see Swami in Mohini Avataram. Mohini is the Hindu Goddess and the only female avatar of Lord Vishnu. Therefore, Lord Venkateshwara takes processions in this avatar for devotees. The same day ends with the Swami taking processions in Garuda Vahana, which has a giant Garudas carrying Swami in front of the chariot.
The sixth day (24-09-2020)
On the sixth day morning, it is Hanumantha Vahana, Swarna Ratha. On this day, Swami takes processions in Anjaneya swami Vahana on a Golden chariot, and in the night time, he takes caravans in Gaja (Elephant) Vahana in front.
The seventh day (25-09-2020)
Here comes the seventh day morning where you can see Utsava Swami in Surya Prabha Vahana. This Vahana resembles the shape of the Sun in the front, and the sun rays are decorated with long clothes at the back. Since in the day he was traveling on the Sun, in the night, he takes processions in Chandra Prabha Vahana, i.e., the Moon.
The eighth day (26-09-2020)
On the eighth day morning, we have Rathotsavam. This day is celebrated grandly since Lord Venkateshwara sits on top of the gigantic chariot. Devotees pull the chariot with all their strength and devotion for taking God to processions. The same day night, Swami takes caravans in Aswa (horse) Vahanam, which looks delightful.
The ninth day (27-09-2020)
On the final day of Brahmotsavams, we can see Lord Venkateshwara in Pallaki Utsavam; Swami goes for processions in a wooden chariot decorated with all flowers like how a king/queen takes processions to temples or any place in their country. The Brahmotsavams for Swami ends with Chakrasnanam (Dwajarohanam), the same day night. Swami is taken to Pushkarani, the temple pond, for a bath and returns to the temple in his original condition how he was, before carrying him out for processions.
Conclusion
This is how Brahmotsavams happen in Tirumala every year, which also has Dussehra Brahmotsavams in parallel for Goddess Padamvathi. Hope this blog was informative and useful to you. Keep reading our blogs for more info about Tirumala and its fame.

The LORD who reveals Himself every 40 years ~ ‘ATHI VARADAR OF KANCHIPURAM ,’ India.
Kanchipuram is one of the Seven Holy Cities in India with Goddess “Kamakshi Amman” Ruling. Kanchi Puram means, Ka - Bramha, Anchi - Worshipped (Lord Vishnu) Puram - City.
Tumblr media
~Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple - Kanchipuram , Tamil nadu state, India.
Sri Varadaraja Perumal temple is one of the most famous temples in Kanchipuram that was built by the kings of Vijayanagara Dynasty in the 12th Century. It is one of the 108 Divya Desams of Lord Vishnu. The main God of this temple is Lord Vishnu and He is known by the name “Athi Varadaraja Perumal”. The main idol of the Lord Athi Varadhar is said to have been installed by Lord Brahmma Himself. Varadha means “Giver of Blessings or Boons”.
There is something really special and remarkable about this Temple. Since 01-July-2019 ,lakhs of  hindu devotees are thronging to this temple for a “Rare Darshan”.
On 01-July-2019, the idol called “Athi Varadar” was taken out of the temple Sacred Tank - ‘Ananta Sarovar’  and has been kept for darshan. This is also called “Athi Varadhar Rising” .Lord Athi Varadhar is taken out of the water once in 40 years and worshipped for 48 days. Lord Athi Varadhar will be placed out for 48 days for darshan. The last time when Lord Varadhar gave Darshan was in July -1979 and the next darshan will be in July-2059.
Tumblr media
~ Ananta Sarovar - the temple sacred tank , where ‘HE’ resides within worshipped by Aananta Sesha.
WHY THE WORSHIP ONLY ONCE EVERY 40 YEARS?
Athi Varadar was originally worshiped by Lord Brahma in Satya-yuga, by Gajendra in Treta-yuga, by Sage Brihaspathi in Dwapara-yuga and by Ananta Shesha in Kali-yuga.
Once while Lord Brahma was performing a yagna (fire sacrifice), in Kanchipuram, the fire touched the wooden Deity of Sri Athi Varadar. Brahma asked the Lord for a remedial measure to worship the Deity; the Lord instructed him to keep the Deity in the lake surrounded by the replicas of Ananta Shesha. Hence the Deity is till date in the temple pond.
Tumblr media
~ The Place within the temple tank where the Lord himself rest’s .
Tumblr media
~ The Lord is risen from the temple tank to be worshipped by HIS devotees for a period of 48 days.
While Brahma worshiped the Deity alone, Lord Vishnu tells Brahma,”You are worshiping Me constantly. You should also give an opportunity to others for worship as well”.To this Lord Brahma agreed to allow the Lord’s worship only for a few nano seconds. Similarly, when Gajendra and Brihaspathi were worshiping, they allowed the worship during their period only for a few minutes on Lord Vishnu’s request.
In a similar manner, when Ananta Shesha worships, he allows the worship to be offered by others for 48 days i.e, once in 40 years only. After this period of 1 mandala, the Lord is immersed back in the Ananta Sarovar to be worshiped by Ananta Shesha for next 40 years. Ananta Sarovar is the sannidhanam of Lord Ananta Shesha.
As per the shastras, the time varies from the upper planetary systems to the lower planetary systems. A moment of Brahma residing in the Satyaloka which is the top-most planetary system in this material realm, is considered as a year on this Bhooloka (planet earth) and so on.This year the auspicious period for the Lord’s worship by the devotees is from 01 July 2019 to 18 Aug 2019. The next darshan would be in 2059.
THE HISTORY OF ATHI VARADAR DEITY
The Deity of Athi Varadar is one among the four Deities of Lord Varadaraja worshiped by Brahma. In the Satya-yuga this Deity was carved out of Fig tree wood by ‘Vishwakarma - the divine architect’. This was the mula-vigraha worshiped in the sanctum of the Kanchi Varadaraja Perumal Temple until the early 16th century. Due to the Muslim invasion, the Athi Varadar vigraha was immersed inside the sacred pushkarani of the temple secretively and the truth was known only to one family.
Tumblr media
~Athi Varadar being carried by HIS devotees  in to the temple from the temple tank with great pomp .
For forty long years, the temple had no Deity for worship thus no puja happening in the temple. The two brothers in the Dhatacharya lineage under whose authority the Deity was hidden, passed away thus taking away the secret forever. Their two sons tried their best to bring back the Deities to Kanchipuram. One Madhwa devotee brought the utsavar back from the Udayar Palayam forest and utsavar puja began.
Unable to locate the original Deity of Athi Varadar, the authorities of the temple decided to install the Deity made out of stone and thus the Deity was brought from the Padma Giri in Pazayaseevaram located approximately 30 kms from Kanchipuram. This Deity was known as Devaraja Perumal and was worshiped by Athri Rishi. He very much resembled Athi Varadaraja. Pazayaseevaram is located on the confluence of Payasvini, Vegavathi and Bahunadhi rivers.
Tumblr media
~devotees throng in huge numbers to worship the lord .
Around 1709 the pushkarani (temple sacred tank) of the temple was emptied and Lord Athi Varadar was seen at the base of the sacred tank. The authorities then decided to take the vigraha out only once in forty years for 48 days and keep Him back. This Deity is kept safely inside the Ananta Sarovar – the temple pushkarani of Varadaraja Temple in Kanchipuram for forty years. Only once in forty years, the Deity is brought out for the darshan for 48 days. This decision was taken based on the above mentioned spiritual reason.

🌴 Rudra-saṃhitā (4): Yuddha-khaṇḍa - CHAPTER 17 🌴
🌻 The fight between Viṣṇu and Jalandhara - 5 🌻
Then both of them equally powerful had a hand to hand fight hitting each other with arms, fists and knees. They filled the earth with reverberating sounds.
Fighting with the Asura thus, for a long time, O excellent sage, Viṣṇu was surprised. He felt dejected in the heart.
Then he the foremost among the magic-wielders assumed a delightful aspect. He addressed the king of Asuras in a thundering voice.
Viṣṇu said:—
“O excellent Asura, you are blessed. You are invincible in war. Since you are a great lord you are not at all afraid of even great weapons.
Many Asuras have been killed by these very same weapons in great battles. The wicked and haughty people have been pierced through their bodies and killed.
O great Asura, I am delighted by this fight with you. You are really great. A hero like you has not been seen in the three worlds including the mobile and immobile beings.
O lord of Asuras, choose a boon. I am pleased at your valour. I shall give you anything even that which cannot be given, whatever is in your mind.
Sanatkumāra said:—
On hearing these words of Viṣṇu, skilled in magic, the intelligent king of the Asuras replied thus.
Jalandhara said:—
O Brother-in-law, if you are pleased give me this boon. You stay in my house with all your followers, my sister and myself.

🍀 23. ESSENTIALS 🍀
🕉  Meditation means to be oneself, and love means to share one's being with somebody else. Meditation gives you the treasure, and love helps you to share it. These are the two most basic things, and all else is nonessential.  🕉
There is an old anecdote about three travelers who go to Rome. They visit the minister, who asks of the first, "How long are you going to be here?" The man says, "For three months." The minister says, "Then you will be able to see much of Rome. " In answer to how long he was going to stay, the second traveler replies that he can only stay for six weeks. The Minister says, "Then you will be able to see more than the first."The third traveler says he will only be in Rome for two weeks, to which the pope replies, "You are fortunate, because you will be able to see everything there is to see!"
The travelers were puzzled, because they didn't understand the mechanism of the mind. Just think, if you had a lifespan of a thousand years, you would miss many things, because you would go on postponing things. But because life is so short, one cannot afford to postpone. Yet people do postpone-and at their own cost. Imagine if somebody were to tell you that you have only one day left to live. What will you do? Will you go on thinking about unnecessary things? No, you will forget all that. You will love and pray and meditate, because only twenty-four hours are left. The real things, the essential things, you will not postpone.

Sri Vishnu Sahasranaama Stotram eulogizes Lord Vishnu as Chaturaatma-Chaturvyuuhah- Chaturmuurthi Chaturaatma refers to Lord Vishnu’s fourfold manifestations for the purpose of creation, sustenance, dissolution and promulgation of divine spiritual knowledge. Chaturvyuhah the one who adopts fourfold or four dimensional manifestations (vyuhas) to carry out his activities He assumes four forms as Vaasudeva, Sankarshana, Pradhyumna, and Aniruddha. Chaturmurthi the one who is of four forms viz. Vaasudeva, Sankarshana, Pradhyumna and Aniruddha. In the very first sloka Sri Venkatesha Stothra (Brahmaanda Purana), Lord Venkateswara who is none other than Lord Sri ManNaaraayana is eulogized as... Venkatesho Vaasudevah Pradhyumno~mithavikaramah Sankarshano~anniruddhascha Seshaadhripathireva Cha Who is Vaasudeva? In supreme spiritual sense Vasudeva is the foremost and supreme amongst the four plenary expansions of Lord Naaraayana. He is Moksha Pradhatha, bestower of ultimate salvation to the deserving souls including Brahmaadi Devathas. Vaasudeva is the ultimate abode and most coveted place where every soul would be longing to go and stay eternally. Famous hymn Om! Namo! Bhagavathe! Vaasudevaaya! called Dwaadasaakshara (12 syllable) manthra dedicated to Lord Vaasudeva is known as Mukti/Kyvalya manthra chanting of which helps one to get liberated from the cycle of births and deaths. Vasudeva (Va+Su+Deva) means reverentially addressing the Supreme God of Knowledge (Jnaana), the one who is the creator (bring forth) of the world viz. Lord Vishnu. In sloka # 29; 74 of Sri Vishnu Sahasranama stothram we find a reference to the word Vasu where, the all pervading Supreme Lord Vishnu is eulogized as Vasuh. Vasu means dweller or dwelling. Lord Vishnu is Vaasudeva the one who dwells in each and every element of this universe and everything dwells in Him. Vasudeva also means the Lord of Vasus. He is the mega spirit present in every being of the entire universe, heart and soul of the universe and the only Aatman (soul) that existed in the beginning. priINayaaAmo vaAsudevaM devataAmaNDalAkhaNDamaNDanaM… Sri Madhvacharya in his famous Dwaadasa Stothra (8th canto) eulogizes the Supreme Lord and recommend to Propitiate Lord Vaasudeva who is the most precious jewel in the august gathering of Gods headed by Lord Brahma. Vasu means excellent/Gem; Vaasudeva means Gem of a God who is the solitary unique soul of outstanding excellence. In Bhagawadgita Vibhoothi Yoga (10th Canto sloka # 37) Lord Sri Krishna says that among the descendants of Vrishni He is Vaasudeva “vrshniinaam vasudevo'smi” He is aptly called, as He is personification of the Supreme Godhead Vaasudeva. Who is Sankarshana? “Sankarshana” is second in the line of four plenary expansions/dimensions of the primordial supreme God Naaraayana (Vaasudeva-Sankarshana-Pradyumna-Aniruddha). Sam (n) + Karshana; Sam (n) means plenty, good, together, complete, perfectly, efficiently effectively, competently etc and Karshana means drawing back, pulling off, withdraw, demolish, eliminate, reduce etc. Sankarshana literally means the one who has the power to destroy or annihilate, the one who has the power to grasp/seize, the one who has grahaka/akarshaka shakti. Sankarshana has power to attract (aakarshana) as well as to repel. In supreme spiritual sense Sankarshana is the destructive power of Lord Vishnu who alone has the strength, competency to completely destroy the world at the time of deluge in a systematic manner using his power ‘Sankarshana’ and pull back all entities into Himself. In Sri Vishnu Sahasranaama Stothram (sloka # 59) the Lord Vishnu is eulogized as “Sankarshanoachyutah” the one who grasps all the movable and immovable objects towards Him at the time of great deluge destroying them while He himself remaining composed and untainted as He is Achyuta. Who is Pradyumna? In supreme spiritual sense Pradyumna is the 3rd dimensional expansion of Lord Sri Hari the fourfold manifestation (Chaturvyuuha) Vaasudeva-Sankarshana-Pradyumna-Aniruddha. Pra means conspicuous; prominent; great; noticeable; and Dyumna means glory, strength, affluence. Pradyumna means the Supreme God, the one with great auspicious and infinite attributes glowing like Gold. Sri Vishnu Sahasranaama Stothram (sloka # 68) eulogizes the Lord as "Pradyumno-amitavikramah" the one who is having immense and unrivaled powers. Pradyumna is the creative power of the supreme Lord Sri ManNaaraayana. Pouranically we come across the character of Pradyumna in Sri MadBhagavatham as son of Lord Sri Krishna and His prime consort Rukmini Devi. Who is Aniruddha? Niruddha means the one who is suppressed, held back, restrained, stopped; Aniruddha means the one who is unstoppable, unrestrained, the one who is invincible. In a supreme sense, Aniruddha is an extension of Lord Vishnu... Vasudeva, Sankarshna, Pradhymana, Aniruddha. Pouranically we come across the character of Aniruddha in Sri MadBhagavatham as the grandson of Lord Sri Krishna and son of Pradyumna. He was considered as a replica of Lord Sri Krishna (Aniruddha roopa Hari). Usha was his spouse and Vajra was his son. These four Vyuuha forms (Vaasudeva-Sankarshana-Pradyumna-Aniruddha) also are said to represent the four states of consciousness viz. Turiya, Shushupti, Swapna and Jagrat. These four forms are considered as Vishnu tattva or plenary expansions of the Moola roopa of Lord Sri ManNaaraayana. Put together it is called Panchaniyaamaka Bhagawadruupa five strategic forms of Lord Vishnu. These transcendental expansions together form the complete worship of the Primordial Supreme God Vishnu. Merits of reciting Vaasudeva Manthra… In Sri Vishnu Sahasrnaama Stothram (Phala Sruthi) we find several merits of chanting the divine hymn of the Supreme Lord. vaasudevaashrayo martyo vaasudevaparaayaNaH | sarvapaapa-vishuddhaatmaa yaati brahma sanaatanam || (sloka#10) The one who seeks out Lord Vaasudeva with total devotion and takes shelter only in Him would get cleansed from all sins and with a mind thus purified ultimately attain salvation. Na vasudevabhaktaanaam-ashubham vidyate kvachit Janma-mrutyu-jaraa-vyaadhi-bhayam naivopajaayate (sloka # 11) No ill-fate befalls on the devotees of Lord Vaasudeva and they will never have fear from birth; death; old age and diseases; vaasanaad vaasudevasya vaasitaM te jagatrayam | sarvabhuuta nivaaso asi vaasudeva namostu te || (shrii vaasudeva namo.astuta oM nama iti) || (Sri Vyaasa Uvaacha sloka#25) Salutations to the all pervading supreme lord Vaasudeva because of whom all the three worlds have become possible/effective/operative/viable; who is indeed the refuge of all creatures. Narayanaya Vidhmahe Vasudevaya Dheemahe Thanno Vishnu Prachodayat Let us meditate on the supreme Lord Naaraayana who dwells in all beings as Vaasudeva and the one who inspire us as Lord Vishnu. Vanamaali gadee shaarngee shankhii chakrii cha nandakii Shrimannaaraayano vishnur-vaasudevo-abhirakshathu Hey! Lord Sri ManNaaraayana the one who is adorned with a forest garland, who is symbolized holding the mace (Gada), Bow (Shanrga), Conch (Shankha), the Disk (Sudarshana Chakra) and a Sword called Nandaka who is known as Vishnu and Vaasudeva protect us and bestow happiness to one and all. https://ift.tt/2H1NCck

श्री राम राम रामेति रमे रामे मनोरमे । सहस्रनाम तत्तुल्यं रामनाम वरानने ॥ . Shri Rama Rama Rameti, Rame Rame Manorame; Sahasrenama tattulyam, Rama Nama Varanane. . . Meaning: 1: By meditating on "Rama Rama Rama" (the Name of Rama), my Mind gets absorbed in the Divine Consciousness of Rama, which is Transcendental, 2: The Name of Rama is as Great as the Thousand Names of God (Vishnu Sahasranama-stotra, Uttara-khanda, Padma Purana 72.335). . . . This shloka is recited at the end of the Vishnu Sahasranama, and is said to have been told to Parvati by Shiva. . He said: chanting the name of Sri Rama just three times is equivalent to reciting the entire list of the Lord’s thousand names. So, chanting this one shloka is like reciting the entire Vishnu Sahasranama. This was the sacred mantra (Rama Rama) given by Maharishi Narada when he was confronted by the wayward dacoit, Ratnakar. Narada opened the dacoit’s eyes to the sinful life he was leading and told him, “The sacred name of Rama will wash all your sins away, and you will begin a new life.” The dacoit went into a trance, and began to utter the name that was given to him. He grew indifferent to hunger, thirst and bodily demands. He gave himself up to the Name Divine.… His tapas continued for days on end, and he did not so much as move from the place he sat; and an anthill grew all around him; and yet the was lost to all sense of this world. That was how the dacoit Ratnakar became Sage Valmiki. His life was touched with divine grace, thanks to the mantra. . . . . 🚩🙏 Jay Sree Ram 🚩🙏 https://www.instagram.com/p/B-RKDo8JBiU84rDZyn52Rpq4PZ8VRC5HM7kVyI0/?igshid=1bummqfq27t8p
