Choice || Leah Williamson
warnings : this is dark angst. there are mentions of sickness as well as reader death. please do not read if you are not comfortable.
a/n : the first 200 words of this came from 5 minutes on Squibler. There was no prompt, just me and my brain for five minutes where I could not stop typing or else it would delete it all. I finished it up and here it is. there is a line in there and it's above too that is near and dear to my heart. it's short but i hope those of you who read it enjoy.
Leah sighed walking into the bedroom. She watched as your chest rose and fell, the mug of piping hot coffee shaking in her hands. You looked so peaceful, yet so fragile.
How could someone so perfect be so sick?
When she first met you, she didn't think you would be gone 6 years later. She loved you with all her heart. If there was something you wanted, Leah would fight hand and foot to get it for you. She promised to love you through sickness and in death, yet here she was, watching you waste away. They were supposed to be vows, not her reality.
There was no cure.
There was no way to save the love of her life.
"Honey?"
"Hm?"
"It's time to wake up, baby."
"What time is it?"
"Just after 8."
You sit up, struggling to push yourself upright; Leah helps.
"Is that coffee I smell?" you mutter, voice hoarse.
"Yes ma'am,” Leah answered, trying not to burst into tears.
You were in pain. Lots of it.
There was pain everywhere. You couldn't remember the last time you woke up without it.
She was hesitant to touch you, afraid that you'd break. You were skin and bones.
There was nothing she could do and it was breaking her heart.
Was this fair? No.
Was this something she wished on herself? Every damn day.
There was no cure, remember? Leah remembered.
There was one option though. One that you were adamant you would not choose or consider.
You would never forgive yourself if you went through with it. You couldn’t ask someone to do that for you; you weren’t worth all that.
Leah knew she could fix it all. The one way available to save you was a sacrifice she was willing to make. Where there was love, there was pain.
This was pain Leah was willing to endure. For love. For you. She’d give up her life if it meant you lived.
You told doctors there was no way in hell you would let your wife do that. But the choice was not up to you. It was hers to make.
“Baby, I’ll get myself tested!”
“No Leah, I can’t let you do that!”
“But what if I’m a match?” Leah argued, face turning red with frustration and anger. Why were you being so stubborn? She could potentially save you! This was the easiest decision of her life!
“No!”
“Baby, please! If I’m a match we can fix this!”
“I forbid you to do it.”
“Why are you being so fucking difficult right now?”
“Because I don’t want you to live with the guilt of knowing you could have saved me!”
The room goes silent and you can’t hold the tears back anymore. Leah takes a step back and stares at you, while your eyes blur and the tears stain your hospital gown.
“Please Leah, just let me die.”
“No.”
“Leah, I can’t take it anymore. I can’t do this-” you say, gesturing to the sterile room you sat in, “anymore! I don’t want to suffer Leah, please,” you beg, reaching for her hand. It was cold.
“I want you to live out your life free, not stuck taking care of me.”
“What if that’s all I want to do with my life, huh? Take care of you?”
“I can’t let you do that Leah,” you whisper. “I can’t make you throw your life away for me.”
“That is not a decision for you to make.”
“Well, I’ve made it.”
“What?”
“They’re taking me to a facility.”
“What for?” Leah asks, already knowing the answer.
“To help me die.”
Leah stands right in front of your grave, a bouquet of your favorite flowers in her hands. She smells them and smiles; everytime she smelt them her heart thought of you.
“Hi baby,” Leah starts, kneeling by you. “Happy Anniversary. Rocky’s in the car, waiting for me. I think I’ll take him to get a pup cup,” she chuckles, “and yeah I knew you secretly took him for one every time you came to visit the locker rooms before game day.”
Leah places the flowers in the little vase by your headstone.
“I miss you. I know it’s been a year but,” she wipes a tear, “I can’t bear the thought of letting you go. You were the love of my life.” Leah stands, hands back in her trench coat pockets.
“The part of my life where I had you will always be my favorite,” she whispers, walking away.
She gets back into her car and Rocky is wiggling his bum excitedly. She turns the ignition and pulls her seatbelt on, looking back at you in her rearview mirror.
“I love you.”
“I love you too, Leah.”

What the fuck?!?
I get that it's hard to create, but god damn, do it yourself!
Why the fuck is Squibler pushing AI that'll write your idea into an entire book for you? I'm literally seeing red, this is the most bullshit thing I've seen in a long time.
If something was created effortlessly, it also means it was created heartlessly and soullessly. If you have neither the heart nor the soul to put into your writing, I suggest putting down your pen and saluting yourself for maintaining your humanity.

Explicit
Summary:
Notes:
Work:
Notes:

Some helpful sites for sprinting:
Word Sprints. A good no-distractions place to help you focus. Can write alone or with a group. Has a timer and shows your word count.
Oh Write. A virtual rooms with timers that you can disable. I like this one for sprinting with friends, because you can see everyone's word count go up in real time. Contains a built-in chat feature.
Nanowrimo. I usually just use Nanowrimo's site to track my goals and daily word count, but it also has a sprint feature.
4thewords. An rpg-style game where a sprint involves battling a monster for rewards.
Squibler. A "dangerous writing app" that deletes your progress if you stop writing. Also comes the option to sprint with a prompt, or to have your words hidden so you can't overthink what you just typed.

@moonspirit
There's also a hardcore mode that hides the entire screen and only lets you see the last letter you typed. Whenever i'm hung up on finding the perfect word and can't continue, just 2-4 5-minutes sessions on the app and I'd come out with around 700 words that I can then easily rewrite to improve quality and basically double the wordcount smoothly
There's still the github/original version:https://maebert.github.io/themostdangerouswritingapp/
But it scares me because if I stopped the writing is GONE, but with squibler's version there's an import button even if you "fail" and stop typing.
Sadistic Writing App Eats Your Words the Moment You Stop Writing. Say Goodbye to Writer’s Block!
The Most Dangerous Writing App is a self-explanatory name given to a sadistic web too that which forces you to complete writing at the proverbial gunpoint. Its instructions are clear and cut throat- “DON’T STOP. IF you stop typing for more than five seconds, all progress will be lost.” Don’t believe us? Find out where to find it, below, to give it a try at your own risk!

Day 1 of Writing Daily
Project: TKG, 1st Draft
Time: 15 minutes
Wordcount: 630
App: Squibler's Most Dangerous Writing App
Best Sentence: And Bmc, grinning, whispers, "Sorry."
Worst Sentence: Amc is in the High General's office - sitting behind the desk, leaning back in his chair, one booted foot sitting on the corner of the desk perilously close to a couple of very ancient-looking tomes.
Musings:
You know...
...there really isn't a good time to get back into writing. Especially not after such a long break. That's become abundantly clear to me now.
Gonna take a whole lot of blood, sweat and tears to get back to the point where typing out words doesn't feel like torture.
And it certainly doesn't help that my characters are all nameless because I haven't finished my conlangs yet, and my scene-setting is atrocious because I haven't finished my worldbuilding yet.
But...
...it's been over two years since I actually attempted to write on a daily basis, and I think it's important to rebuild that habit sooner rather than later.
So, here I be: Typing out the worst crap I've ever typed in my life. Shaking off layers upon layers of rust, hoping that there will be some kind of remaining talent or skill left underneath.
On another note: I'm a HUGE fan of The Most Dangerous Writing App. Mostly cuz it gets me writing when I'd normally be sitting there, staring at the blinking cursor. All I gotta do is work up the nerve to hit that first letter and BOOM! We're off! Typing like crazy - fighting off any significant pause lest the app viciously delete everything I've written.
Granted, everything I wrote today was trash, but still.
(Lol, this is gonna hurt. Badly.)

though i wrote enough for an angst story that is dark which i may turn into a fic since the website didn't delete my work...

There was something not quite right about the window. The window was old and cracked, but that much couldn't be an issue - no, the strangeness of it all came when you realised that the window was a small porthole, set into the stone of the castle, and that the scenery it showed was drastically different to all other windows in the castle.
A red sky, littered with drifting white clouds; rolling hills, lush with deep brown grass, illuminated by the blinding white of two moons in the sky; a small hut, set to the left of a forest that grew beyond the scope of what the window showed. Just behind the hut was a small barn, and if you looked through the window at the right time, you might witness some bizarre looking creatures making their way in and out. Presumably, the hut and barn both belonged to some sort of animal raiser - a humble farmer, or that world's version of a shepherd, perhaps.
No one would know unless they made their way into the scene shown, which was considered an impossible feat - after all, the only way it could be viewed was through that window, and there weren't any convenient modes of travel that allowed one to casually step into a different plane of existence altogether. Not in those times, at least. Nobody ever considered that the window might have a corresponding door, and the castle was far too large for its occupants to simply stumble across it by chance.
#anyway so i tried using the most dangerous writing website is that what its called?#squibler. i tried using squibler#with the prompt#so for three minutes of nonstop writing and one of editing im sort of proud :)#yellow writes

Btw to any writers out there that have trouble getting yourself to write even when you really want to and have a lot of ideas, I recommend Squibler. Its a website that forces you to write for a set number of time or words
If you fail to continue writing when you're not done, it will erase all your progress. It'll warn you by turning red.
Personally, I love it since it forces me to stop overthinking and just write.
You can generate prompts if you want. You can also export it out as a pdf or document and whatnot or just copy and paste
Anyhoo~, I hope this helps someone :) this website's free too. I think you can sign up but what I shared was free
#writing#writing prompts#writing tips#writing website#prompts#writeblr#writers block#writing fanfiction#anyway I have been procrastinating writing this so.. off to write#why is getting the link to work always hit or miss....
