Eddie Izzard play Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde but i Imagine that Elder Cadia scares Little Kira while her mother Brea protect her. Eddie Izzard also play King Edward VII in Victoria and Abdul while Helena Bohan Carter play Princess Margaret in the Crown season three and Four, Anne Boleyne in King Henry VIII and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyone in King's Speech at the side of Colin Firth and and because the british royal are related because the Sifan clan and Vapra clan are connected. Also Natalie Dormer reveals at the audience that Tavra Is Kira's aunt and Brea Is Kira's mom with Kylan because Kate Dickie played with Anya Taylor-Joy in the Witch and also Shazad Latif play Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde in Penny Dreadful and because Kira prefere her father Kylan in the role of Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde than the Elder Cadia and because the Spriton Clan are too connected with the Vapra Clan and the Sifan Clan

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!!
I made these a few weeks ago before I went full throttle with the big Gelfling oc project. Just some happy couples in winter sweaters lol
The first is the sweet Adora x Takoda ship! Aaahhh they’re too precious. I can’t wait to draw more of them because there’s a bunch to explore.
The second is Tau and Enyo who I believe are more flirting with each other. They’re interested in one another but neither has made a move to deepen the bond to a romantic one. Tau was originally going to have a beefy Dousan boyfriend because my sister demanded it lol Buut I feel like Tau is interested more in pretty softer featured Gelfling.
Enyo is on her road to becoming a better Gelfling. Some time after Fleur leaves Stone-in-the-wood is when Enyo explores Thra and begins rethinking certain beliefs her parents taught her. Fleur 100% calls Enyo out when she sees Enyo dating someone who isn’t Stonewood. Enyo’s growth is another story to be told.
We might see more Tau x Enyo because I think they look cute lol
Lastly, we have the Stonesan parents Maeve x Bhihaar! I love them and they are that married couple who is just so happy to be married and unafraid of PDA. I believe the PDA took some time for Bhihaar to get use to but he enjoys holding Maeve’s hands and pecking her cheek in public. Maeve on the other hand is unashamed- she loves her man and boy does she have a good man 😆
I have another set but I just haven’t finished it yet, so be prepared to see that in time

Nealia happily prancing and playing her lyre after gathering just a few pretty rocks along the way 🎵
I updated her design a bit. The lyre was especially in need of a makeover. Now it resembles the Spriton clan symbol more! 🌱

I have always head-cannoned that each of the different clans would have different wing types but I never really sketched them out too much until now!
I will now go into why I made them the way they are, read if you dare •_•
Spriton: felt like the speedy and strong combo fit them pretty well so of course we had to go with the dragonfly-like wings.
Drenchen: pretty standard from the books here, more fin than wing as they’re meant to be used in the water more than air
Stonewood: these guys always reminded me of your stereotypical moth for some reason, maybe it’s because they hang out in the forest flocking around this one really big light but hey that’s just me.
Grottan: speedy and good at turning since they’ve gotta navigate all those tight spaces in the caves. Which, speaking of caves, there aren’t really a whole lot of flying cave bugs to go off of for this so we’re just gonna say that since the Grottans are sister clans to the Vapra they’ve evolved from there.
Vapra: since their mascot is the unamoth I wanted to use similar wing shapes and combined it with a comet moth. They’ve very pretty wings what can I say. They are easily the biggest wings out of the other 7 clans, with Grottan or Sifa in a close second.
Dousan: the smallest wings out of the bunch since the Dousan might not fly on their own as much considering the hot hot sun and the use of crystal skimmers for transport. They’ve got the little wing-tassel bits cause I feel like it would fit their vibe.
Sifa: since the Sifa are kind of the melting pot of all the clans I wanted their wings to be a bit of everything, the top wing shape and size from the Grottan, Vapra, and spriton, with the wing tassel things from the Dousan, the bottom wing shape from the Stonewood, and some webbing(?) connecting the wings together from the Drenchen (they’re out on the water a lot, who says they aren’t water comparable?). Essentially they are a mess. Wings can change depending on if they are related more to one clan than another, and they are by far the most varied wings out of all 7 clans.
AND THAT IS ALL I AM NOW GOING TO BED GOODNIGHT EVERYONE.

I have never heard of the Dark Crystal until I saw your posts. What is it about, and what do you like about it?
Oh ho?
Sit down, anon, and let me tell you the tale of... The Dark Crystal.
*theme music plays*
Tumblr media
In a world called Thra, there exists a powerful gem called the Crystal of Truth. It is in tune to all of Thra, including the planet's most civilized race, the Gelfling.
A thousand years ago, new beings came to Thra: the Skeksis. The Skeksis, wise, hedonistic and benevolent, were tasked with protecting the Crystal of Truth by Thra's avatar/mother-nature of sorts, Mother Aughra. Because of their wisdom the Skeksis also ruled over the Gelfling and their seven Clans, while Aughra journeyed the stars and space.
But one day, the Crystal cracked, causing the Crystal to become corrupted, and a miasma, the Darkening, to spread throughout Thra. In an attempt to fix the Crystal, the Skeksis discovered Essence - the soul or life-force of every creature on Thra. Instead of taking life from the Crystal, they decided to take life from something else - the Gelfling. Because the Gelfling are the closest creatures to Thra, their Essence is pure, more potent.
The Skeksis became obsessed with Essence, and obsessed with draining Gelfling, killing them and drinking their Essence to obtain eternal life and youthfulness. All Skeksis, but the Emperor especially, were terrified of death. For when Skeksis die they do not return to Thra.
And so, a genocide occurred, and all Gelfling perished.
All but one. For there was a prophecy, told of a young Gelfling named Jen, who is destined to heal the Crystal and bring the Skeksis reign to an end!
What I love about The Dark Crystal is its world-building and characters. Its cast isn't just black and white in morality, it's more than that. The protagonists can make mistakes, and so can the antagonists. The Skeksis were good once upon a time, they once cared about the Gelfling, but their greed and fear of death overtook them. Thra is beautiful with many different settings and wildlife, even the Castle of the Crystal is gorgeous with it's fantastical and alien gothic architecture.
I'm mainly talking about the prequel series, Age of Resistance, here. It was made almost 40 years after the original 1982 film, but unlike many modern sequels and prequels it's not a cash grab at all; it was made with love and respect to the original, expanding on the world of Thra. Not saying the original film was bad, it's a wonderful piece of media! I just think it's lacking a bit in world-building and context, and Age of Resistance helps immensely.
As for characters, I'll be talking about the Skeksis, Gelfling, and Mother Aughra. There are other characters and creatures too, but I don't want to venture into spoiler territory!
The Skeksis
Tumblr media
As I said above, the Skeksis are not from Thra. They are reptile-like alien vultures with a very hedonistic lifestyle. They adore food, various forms of entertainment, the most lavish of robes, and being praised for their wisdom and status as Lords of the Crystal.
Tumblr media
Each Skeksis has a title and role they must uphold. For example, the Ornamentalist makes his fellow Lords' robes and decor for the Castle, while the Scroll-Keeper is in charge of the Castle library and keeps records of tomes and scrolls going back a thousand years of Skeksis rule.
All the Skeksis are important and unique, but the most popular and well-known by far is the Chamberlain. He has a "whimper" as a tic and speaks in slight broken English, yet is the craftiest, manipulative, and cunning of the Skeksis. A very Starscream/Littlefinger-type character, he's fantastic to watch. (He's one of my favourite characters, but not my top favourite, that honour goes to the Scroll-Keeper.)
Tumblr media
The Gelfling
Tumblr media
The Gelfling are small, elf-like humanoids that vary in looks, culture and skill between their seven different species/Clans. There is the Stonewood, Vapran, Drenchen, Spriton, Dousan, Sifan, and Grottan. Unfortunately, many Gelfling tend to be xenophobic and untrustworthy towards other Clans, though some do manage to become friends despite their differences. Most Gelfling are also illiterate, but there are a very small few that can read and write.
Tumblr media
Gelfling are the closest beings to Thra, and have the special ability to Dreamfast with one another - a rather intimate gesture that allows them to share their memories and thoughts by touching hands.
They also differ between genders; female Gelfling have wings, while male Gelfling do not.
Tumblr media
Because of their small noses and large eyes and ears, some of the fandom tend to call Gelfling "fairy mice", even giving them whiskers and tails!
Tumblr media
Mother Aughra
Tumblr media
Mother Aughra is Thra, and Thra is Mother Aughra. She is as old as the planet itself, and perhaps as old as the Crystal of Truth, too. She is connected to the Crystal, able to tell when it is healthy and when it is not.
She and the Skeksis used to be friends, admiring their wisdom and beauty, yet that all ended when she discovered what they had done to the Crystal of Truth.
Tumblr media
Aughra is sassy and somewhat grumpy, yet she loves and cares for all the creatures of Thra, especially the Gelfling, who see her as a mother-figure. She has the ability to remove her one eye and use it to spy on others or to see things up close, even from far away.
If you enjoy the fantasy genre, puppets, practical effects, and alien worlds, I highly, highly recommend The Dark Crystal and The Dark Crystal Age of Resistance! There are also graphic novels, and YA novels by J.M Lee.
The world of Thra must never die!

Your dark crystal lu au has me giggling and kicking my feet. I would love to hear more about it!!! What inspired Hyrule to leave the caverns? Are the Zelda's the Madras?
>:D
I wrote a lot so it's going under a read more:
Wanderlust? Wanting to see more of the world? Seeking out a missing princess? A calling? A summons by Aughra? It could be a number of things! I'm still figuring out how I want to integrate the Zelda lore and timeline into that of The Dark Crystal.
What I do know is that I think I want Hyrule to be apprenticing under Aughra. Assistant turned apprentice. He really does do a lot of grunt work. Go here, fetch that, oil the entire orrery, crawl around in the Sog swamps for this one specific plant. But he has a strong connection to the song of Thra and an insatiable desire to listen and learn so Aughra teaches, and gives him tasks most would think crazy, and he stays. She keeps telling him asides about this snarky sharp tongued apprentice she had before who did a bunch of cool stuff but then ran off and is shirking his duties!!! and Hyrule's like, "gee I'd really like to meet this guy you keep comparing me to smh"
As for the Zeldas, yeah! They're the princess and Maudras. These are bound to change but at the moment, the trio Artemis, Dot, and Lullaby are Maudra to the Vapran clan together. Dusk of the Drenchen, Fable is Spriton with strong connections to the Castle of the Crystal, Dawn with the Grottans, and Aurora spends her time with both the Vapran and Grottan clans. I think the Sifa hierarchal structure would be a little looser. Most seek council from the Sifa elders and soothsayers. Tetra's out and about sailing with her crew. When she needs to speak for the clan that's when you know things have really gone to shit. Flora is a princess from an age past who now travels but spends a lot of time with the Vaprans. I'm realizing now I've forgotten Stone-in-the-Wood. I might place Lullaby, Dot, or Flora there instead. Still a wip!
Which leaves Sun. There's Thra, and then Mithra from the Power of the Dark Crystal comics. I don't want to add another clan because there being 7 is significant. But maaaaybe I could just be like, you know what, what if there were just gelfling living on floating islands who have been up there of since the Age of Innocence or Golden Age or whatever and forgotten. And they're not part of any clan necessarily.
What I really need to figure out is the cause for all the guys to be in one place. Do I want time travel and they're all from different eras and are jumping between them like they are in the LU comics and fanworks, do I want a singular timeline and they've all been living congruently the whole time with their own adventures, or do I want some kind of event to have happened which has caused their times to collapse into a singular and now they're all here in one place with their Zeldas? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ there's a lot of possibility! The Dark Crystal already deals a lot with ideas of threes and triangles so three timelines and three virtues for the triforce and there being nine heroes (divisible by three) already works suuuper well.
And then there's the villans. In loz there's Ganon but in TDC the Skeksis are already a formidable adversary. They have a thirst for power and everlasting life that's already pretty interesting. There's the darkening too, which could be a stand in for the idea of Ganon, just like an evil tainting the land instead of an actual person. Idk!
And since I want it to be in Thra, where in the timeline should it be? During the Age of Division before the events of AoR, far far past the events of the later comics in the Second Age of Harmony with Kensho and Thurma, or create something new and rewrite the timeline altogether? lol I need to reread Power of TDC and read the other comics.
There's A LOT but it's fun.

@synisysm also gave me the word demagogue.
Demagogue
There has never been anyone like him. SkekSil is sure of that. If there had been, surely what he does would not be so easy.
He doesn’t pretend that he’s like SkekGra or SkekMal, SkekUng or SkekVar, or any of the other skeksis who drag their swords and claws across Thra to pull every gelfling into the particular seven clans that were already so deeply enmeshed within the system of roads and calendar and script and language that flowed from the Castle of the Crystal.
It’s not the violence—SkekSil loves blood as much as anyone, but he refuses to let it distract him.
It’s his purpose. His power. The way he can shape the world with words.
Even the sharpest sword can be blunt—a resisting town falls, and the gelfling there become Drenchen or Spriton or Stonewood. But do the gelfling feel it? Will a new Drenchen scorn a new Stonewood? Not without SkekSil’s guidance. His finer blades of words cut the gelfling into new shapes, showing them how they are like their new clan, how they fit so well together, they were always-already what they were named after the war. He teaches them to love their clan, and it works. He teaches them to scorn and be suspicious of the other clans, and it works even better.
He loves talking to them, and it feels that there is no end to what he can do. He makes the skeksis sacred to the gelfling, much more easily than SkekZok ever could. He makes them grateful for the tithes, and when skeksis demands strain the gelfling, he can make them blame other gelfling’s needs and never think about what they ever get back from the skeksis. He can erase the excesses of any of the other skeksis by making them into things other clans would do, into things that are done by those gelfling that are useless to the empire. He can even, in certain extremities, lay the blame at the feet of the mystics.
And they believe him. They want to believe him. He’s giving them something they want, though it’s really something only good for the skeksis. And for him.
There’s something wonderful about being able to reshape the world with his voice. It’s almost like magic. It has to be better than magic. It’s so wonderful it almost hurts. It’s so wonderful he’ll never stop.

Po'kaa
Tumblr media
For Day 5's addition for @the-seven-clans-week challenge, I bring you this beauty from the Spriton Plains. Her name is Po'kaa, and she's as graceful as she is brave.
I wanted her design to be simple but beautiful. Not like Kida's design, who has spunk and beauty in her (and you can see that in her face and eyes BTW), but I think I got it right with Po'Kaa's design. I hope y'all like her.

Was going over Creation Myths and realized urGoh appears in there as well as the Spriton clan. Are there any other details one might consider to have originated from AoR that appear in material preceding it? Such as clans, Skeksis, urRu, or notable Gelfling 🤔
Plenty, actually! It'd be hard to list them all but you'd be surprised how far the lore rabbit hole goes. Keep in mind that depending on what you pick up the details are very different.
The first material to continue the movie's story is Legends of the Dark Crystal and it is the very first official appearance of many characters (urSen, skekLach, skekVar, skekSa when she was called skekCru, etc). There's even a defunct Skeksis character named skekEer who probably became skekLi later on (but don't quote me on that).
Or they were repurposed from dead projects. SkekMal was actually created for a scrapped animated series called the Great Conjunction somewhere around 2012. However his name, along with Rian and Deet's, originated all the way back in the late 70s found within the movie's early story concept called 'the Crystal'. Their names were originally used for some of the main characters (Jen was called Brian, Kira Dee, and skekSil Mal).
EDIT: I just remembered Rian was also originally created for the defunct Great Conjunction series!
There's also extra material like the Gelfling Gathering that was made for the Author Quest Contest that held some old information about characters, clans, and such. That came out in 2013 right around where volume 2 of Creation Myths was released so some of that information may have existed before that but I digress.
Again, there's A LOT of pieces of AOR that existed before it so if there's something specific you're curious about feel free to ask. I hope this broader answer helps though!

"But twiggy, why are there other races in your OC? Where did the merfolk come from? And the gnomes? And how are their humans on Thraa?!?"
Well my dearies...
"Thraa had always been a place in which everything had its place. Each of the gelfling clans resided in their own dwellings, taking sanctuary beside the seven great trees. The Stonewood's lived in the Endless Forest in Stone-in-the-Wood and the Grottans stayed deep in the Caves of Grot. The Sifans explored the seas or resided by the coast, while the Vaprans settled high in the mountains of Ha’rar. The Great Smerth homed the Drenchen clan, the Crystal Desert homed the Dousan, and Sami Thicket was a haven for many of the Spritons tribes, but there was never a place for those that didn't quite fit in gelfling societies. The outcasts, the exiles, the wanderers and the lost.
Long ago, in the days when Aughra’s son Raunip would roam the planet, There sat a rock near the sea. Raunip, the greatest wanderer of them all, while frustrated and longing for answers, would often come to this rock and sit upon it, contemplating his conundrums. To those close to him, the rock became a symbol of meditation and knowledge, and a sanctuary to any who found themselves lost.
Many trines later, after the unification of the Gelfling clans and the great rebellion in the Age of Resistance, new races began to emerge. Gelfling had often believed that the creatures of their lands were all that inhabited Thraa, but once the clans united and shared their skills and resources, they began venturing out, exploring all that the Silver Seas offered. New continents populated by unfamiliar races were found. The Sifan sailors discovered a race that called themselves humans, while The mariner, Skeksa, met a species known as the Gnomes. With the promise of new lands, migration began, and the new species began to mingle. The news of these new creatures roaming Thraa spread from the Sifan coast to the Valley of the Mystics. Hearing of this, the Dwarfs surfaced from deep within their mountain dwellings that they had resided in undetected for hundreds of trine to offer trading and master craftsmanship. Tribes of Reptilians emerged from the sanctuary of the grasslands, far beyond the Mountains of Grot, and Merfolk arose from their underwater homes. With the threat of the Skeksi diminished, and the alliance of the new species, Thraa began to prosper, offering a home to a vast array of new cultures and species.
However, there were still those who didn't fit into any of the colonies, clans or tribes and so would go in search of their own haven. Tuck Pot, a close friend of Raunip, would often come across these wanderers and would offer them sanctuary in his grove. He took in many creatures of every species, offering them a safe place, but he knew that his grove could not hold all those who were lost. When a large tribe of reptilians came to seek refuge, Tuck led them and the other wanderers to Raunips Stone and helped them build a place to call their own. The colony of wanderers grew, and soon, a new city was formed.
The City of Rivers sat on the edge of the land, wedged in between the High Hills and Raunip’s spine. Many rivers weaved in and out of its cobbled streets, leading out towards the vast Silver Sea. A great wall surrounded the inner city, where the descendants of the original Reptilian settlers lived, while a second wall surrounded the outer city limits, protecting all of its citizens. At its centre, in the heart of the city stood Raunips Stone."

okay these are very bare bones but!
aster  / vapran / 21 / she, they / bisexual / born and raised on the edges of ha'rar, aster came from a hard-working farmer family. and as much as she loved farming, the gelfling truly came to life during the coldest winter days when the lakes would freeze and she could glide over the surfaces, pretending to be one of the fancy, upper-class vapran that had the free time to skate the day away. aster's passions lead her, over the course of a few years, in learning the art of shoe and ice-skate making before becoming a sought-after ice-skate maker in ha'rar.
during the war efforts, aster joins the gelfling forces by making clothing & armour supplies, working under an experienced and talented craftsman.
.....
tharhys (ta-reece) / spriton-stonewood / 21 / he, they / bisexual / tharhys doesn’t remember everything have a place to call home. he had his fathers, yes, but those things all gelfling loved, community and a house to go back to at the day’s end? they did not exist for the child of two clans, of lovers that their clans denied happiness. as a young teen, tharhys was shocked when the family came to sami thicket. and then angered, when the maudra spoke to them all as if they had done something wrong. the anger lead to a challenge against the maudra - let his fathers stay on spriton land, let them trade and live quietly, and tharhys would never be a problem again. if he lost, they’d leave. the maudra agreed. tharhys won. with a satchel of things and one of his father’s blades to his name, tharhys fled sami thicket and began travelling throughout the continent, committing crimes in the eyes of many gelfling so that he may bring justice to even a few.

"Your orders, Chamberlain?" Asked Galadriel
"Find the Stonewood Gelfling," SkekSil ordered.
At the Twilight Realm, the Garthim broke down the portale and Midna turned and saw the Garthim ransacking the store. They moved a barrel and pulled back a rug, revealing a trapdoor, which opened, revealing Grottans.
Later, they were handcuffed and standing outside of the Twilight Realm.
"Ten pieces of silver for Rian from Stonewood Clan," Gothel said, offering the exact amount of money.  The Grottans said nothing but remained silent.  "Lock them up!" SkekSil ordered.
Later, the Garthim pushed a wagon into the river, and as it began to sink, Rek'yr the Dousan, Onica the Sifan, and Maudra Mera the Spriton surfaced.
"Twenty pieces of silver for Rian from Stonewood," SkekSil said, offering the double amount of silver. Like the group of some Gelflings from different Clan before them, Rek'yr, Onica, and Maudra Mera remained silent and glared at SkekSil. "Take them away!" SkekSil ordered.
Galadriel frowned and shook her head, not at all liking SkekSil's method of hunting down Rian.
Later, SkekSil and Galadriel were at a castle.  A group of people were gathered nearby, watching, and Rian and JB turned up in disguise.
"Poor Princess Carolina," Princess Zelda said.  "She's never harmed anyone!"
"SkekSil's gone mad," Link said.
Inside of the castle, SkekSil was interrogating Princess Carolina and her family.
"We found this Sifan talisman on your property," SkekSil said.  "Have you been harboring Gelfling?"
"Our castle is always open to the weary jugglers," Princess Carolina said.  "Have mercy, Chamberlain."
"I am placing you and your family under house arrest until I get to the bottom of this," SkekSil said, as she and Galadriel turned to leave.  "If what you say is true and you are innocent, you have nothing to fear."
"But we are innocent!"  Princess Carolina protested.  "We know nothing of those Gelflings!"
SkekSil closed the door and barred it with a spear, before he turned to Galadriel and said, "Burn it."
"What?" Galadriel said in shock.
"Until it smolders," SkekSil said, handing a torch to Galadriel.  "These humans are traitors and must be made examples of."
Galadriel frowned and said, "With all due respect, Chamberlain, my Brother and the Silver Elves were trained me not to murder the innocent."
"But you were trained to follow orders," SkekSil said. Galadriel backed toward the house as if to burn it, but doused her torch in a barrel of water with a defiant glare. "Insolent coward," SkekSil said, before he took a torch and held it up to the castle, setting it on fire as well.
The cries of Princess Carolina and her family came within and Galadriel jumped through the window into the burning castle as Rian watched in concern. Galadriel broke down the door and she and Princess Carolina's family ran out. Galadriel handed the children to Princess Carolina and Prince Ivaldo and they both left, giving Galadriel grateful smiles.
