Endangered Frogs
Sadly with everything there are even frogs that are considered heavily endangered of going extinct. I will give a quick little overview of three such species of frogs that are on the endangered species list as well as what is causing them to be put on the list and any conservation efforts.
#1 Macaya Breast-spot Frog Critically Endangered
Only found within two regions of Southern Haiti, these little guys are endangers due to the charcoal industry logging efforts and habitat degradation. They were rediscovered in 2011 after being lost to scientists for nearly two decades. Haiti has established a national park to assist with conservation efforts, but sadly even that habitat is starting to experience habitat degradation. It is considered one of the smallest frogs in the world being roughly the size of a grape.
#2 Kihansi Spray Toad Extinct in the Wild
This really feels kinda sad as these guys are very close to disappearing all together but thankfully there are efforts to prevent complete extinction. Before becoming considered Extinct in the Wild the Kihansi Spray Toad only existed in a small two-hectare (5 acre) area around the base of the Kihansi River Waterfall. Areas near the spray zone experienced near constant temps and 100% humidity. A hydraulic dam built upstream caused the habitat to change drastically and while a sprinkler system has been developed to help mimic the conditions the toad thrived in, it had not been developed when the dam was first built. Currently they are bred in captivity in zoos across North America, with the first such zoo being the Bronx Zoo's program starting in 2011. Originally only 70 toads remained in captivity but since then other zoos have began their own programs and hundreds of Spray Toads are maintained in the Detroit Zoo, Chattanooga Zoo, and a handful others.
#3 Titicaca Waterfrog Critically Endangered
Titicaca Waterfrogs live exclusively within the rivers and lakes of the Lake Titicaca basin, the frogs unusual appearance being caused by its environment allowing it to absorb oxygen in a high altitude, low oxygen environment. Considered Critically Endangered in 2011 due to the introduction of invasive fish species, pollution of the lake basin, and overharvesting for consumption; things seemed rather grim for them. However there have been multiple successful projects that would preserve the waterfrogs. Bolivia and Peru have agreed to work on the environmental problems the basin is facing but corruption and risks of civil unrest have caused a hindrance with efforts. Both countries have pledged to use the equivilant of $500 million USD for efforts in 2016; including construction of a new water treatment facility.
There have been captive breeding efforts going back as far as the 1970s though the frogs may not have been completely understood at the time because while the eggs did hatch into tadpoles, they didn't metamorphize into frogs. The first successful captive breeding happened in 2010 in Lima, Peru. In 2015 the breeding project started in Peru was expanded when a group of frogs was sent to the Denver Zoo, with the first successful breeding outside of Peru happening in 2017-2018; first tadpole hatching in 2017 and first successful metamorphosis into young frogs in 2018. In 2019, some offspring were sent from the Denver Zoo to various zoos across the US and UK to assist with conservation efforts. in 2016 Peru declared it illegal to hunt the Waterfrog and frogs used for captive breeding programs have been able to live for up to 20 years.

A Comprehensive Guide to Public Address System Installation: Key Considerations and Best Practices
Introduction
Public address (PA) systems are essential tools for communication in various environments, from schools and corporate offices to stadiums and public spaces. The successful installation of a PA system requires careful planning, technical expertise, and a clear understanding of the specific needs of the space. This article will guide you through the key considerations and best practices for installing a Public Address Installation system, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Assessing the Environment
Before diving into the installation process, it’s crucial to conduct a thorough assessment of the environment where the PA system will be installed. Consider the size and layout of the space, the type of activities that will occur, and the ambient noise levels. These factors will influence the type and number of speakers needed, as well as their placement.
Choosing the Right Equipment
Selecting the right equipment is fundamental to the success of your PA system. This includes choosing high-quality amplifiers, speakers, and microphones. It’s essential to match the equipment to the environment. For example, outdoor areas may require weatherproof speakers, while large indoor spaces might need powerful amplifiers and additional sound reinforcement.
Planning the Speaker Layout
The placement of speakers is a critical aspect of PA system installation. Proper speaker placement ensures even sound distribution, minimizing echoes and dead spots. Start by mapping out the space and determining the optimal locations for the speakers. In larger areas, consider using a mix of ceiling-mounted and wall-mounted speakers to cover the entire space.
Wiring and Connectivity
The wiring of your PA system is another vital component. Ensure that you use high-quality cables and connectors to prevent signal loss and interference. Plan the cable routes carefully to avoid running cables parallel to power lines, which can cause noise issues. Additionally, consider using wireless microphones for more flexibility in certain environments.
Testing and Calibration
Once the system is installed, thorough testing and calibration are necessary. Begin by checking all connections, ensuring there are no loose cables or faulty components. Then, test the system at different volume levels and in various areas of the space to identify any issues with sound distribution. Adjust the system as needed to achieve clear and consistent audio throughout the area.
Maintenance and Support
A PA system is an investment that requires ongoing maintenance to remain reliable. Regularly check all components, clean the equipment, and replace any worn-out parts. Additionally, consider setting up a support plan with the installation company to address any technical issues quickly.

The Ultimate Guide to Managing Tenant Repairs and Upgrades on a Budget
Get ready to learn how to handle tenant repairs and upgrades without spending a fortune! We’ll guide you through practical strategies and simple tips to keep your rental properties well maintained on a budget.
Imagine being able to manage your properties without blowing your budget. In 2019, landlords in the UK were spending an average of 3.1 thousand pounds each year on their portfolios. That’s why we are here to show you how to make every penny count!
Join us as we share budget friendly tips and proactive strategies to manage your tenant's repairs and upgrades with ease. From prioritising repairs to unveiling DIY ideas, we've got you covered.
Emergency Maintenance 101
Prioritising repairs is crucial for the safety and well being of your tenants and the integrity of your property. That’s why emergency maintenance issues like power loss, burst pipes or fires, require immediate attention to prevent further damage and ensure habitability.
So here’s a tip: Always give your tenants a list of trusted vendors for emergencies. By equipping your tenants with this resource, they can take action fast, minimising risks and saving you time and money.
The Scheduled Repair Survival Guide for Landlords
While emergency repairs are crucial, scheduled maintenance is equally important. Regular inspections not only catch problems early but also extend your property's lifespan and provide a comfortable living environment for your tenants.
To avoid such emergencies, it's essential to create a regular maintenance schedule with your tenants, keeping track of seasonal tasks. Here's an idea of what to check on each season:
🌼 Spring: Embrace the season of renewal by focusing on landscape clean up, window washing, setting up the irrigation system, and giving some attention to the air conditioning system.
☀️ Summer: As the sun shines, it's time to clean outdoor spaces, check sprinkler systems for optimal performance, address any pesky pests, and ensure smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms are in working order.
🍂 Autumn: As leaves fall, inspect decks and patios for slippery growth, check attic and roof insulation, and seal any openings to keep the cosy warmth inside.
❄️ Winter: Embrace the chilly season by insulating pipes to prevent freezing, pruning trees for safety, proofing doors and windows to keep the cold air out, and ensuring the heating system is working efficiently.
By staying proactive with scheduled maintenance, you'll minimise surprises and show your tenants that their well being matters.
The Classic Dilemma: DIY or Professional Help?
You know you have repairs and upgrades to tackle in your tenants' houses, but when should you call the professionals and when should you channel your inner DIY enthusiast? It's a classic dilemma. Studies show that while 41% of UK landlords have attempted DIY repairs, almost the same number (35%) end up regretting it.
Before diving headfirst into a DIY project, it's crucial to evaluate whether you have the necessary tools and knowledge to proceed. Sure, you might be handy with a hammer, but certain repairs might require specialised skills or equipment. Just remember to prioritise safety and don't hesitate to seek professional help.
Painting Dreams and Lighting Up Savings
Whether you choose to DIY or prefer to call in the Fixers, sprucing up your rental space doesn't have to drain your wallet.
First off, consider refreshing the property with a coat of paint. A new colour can instantly breathe life into any space without breaking the bank. Another idea is to upgrade the property's lighting by swapping out old fixtures with energy efficient options. This not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but can also save on utility bills in the long run.
Also, don't underestimate the power of landscaping! Tame those wild hedges, plant colourful flowers or add some outdoor seating to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. And bonus trick: repurposing old furniture or accessories with a bit of creativity and a fresh coat of paint can give your property a unique touch while staying within your budget.
From Repair Riddles to Upgrade Treasures
As you can see, managing tenant repairs and upgrades on a budget can be both practical and enjoyable! Remember to equip your tenants with a list of trusted vendors for emergencies and don't forget to schedule regular maintenance inspections to ensure property tenant safety. Also, give your place a fresh makeover every now and then. It's the perfect recipe for adding charm and character to your property!
And if DIY is your favourite route, the Bokafix app is always here to help! With just a few clicks, you can book quality Fixers for emergencies or schedule repairs.
Remember, the secret lies in the small details that can transform your property into something extraordinary.

Navigating Zoning Laws and Building Regulations for Converting a House into Flats
Converting a house into flats can be an exciting venture, whether you're looking to increase rental income or simply make better use of your property. However, before you start envisioning those sleek, modern apartments, it's crucial to understand the zoning laws and building regulations in the UK that govern such conversions. In this article, we'll break down the process for you, making it as easy to digest as a cup of British tea.
Why Convert a House into Flats?
Before we dive into the nitty-gritty details of zoning laws and building regulations, let's quickly explore the reasons behind converting a house into flats. There are several benefits to consider:
Income Generation: Converting a house into flats can significantly boost your rental income, especially in high-demand areas.
Property Value: Splitting a large property into flats can increase its overall market value, making it a potentially lucrative investment.
Adapt to Changing Needs: It allows you to adapt your property to changing needs, such as accommodating family members or creating separate living spaces.
Maximizing Space: Opting for a conversion can make the most of your available space, ensuring every nook and cranny is put to good use.
Understanding Zoning Laws
Zoning laws, also known as planning permissions, are essential considerations when converting a house into flats in the UK. These laws determine how land and buildings can be used, and they vary from one location to another. Here's what you need to know:
1. Check the Current Use Class
Properties in the UK are classified into different use classes, ranging from residential to commercial. To convert a house into flats, you'll typically need to change the use class from "C3" (dwelling houses) to "C4" (houses in multiple occupation - HMO) or "C3/C4" (dual use). This change usually requires planning permission.
2. Planning Permission
Obtaining planning permission is often the first hurdle in your conversion journey. It involves submitting an application to your local planning authority. Be prepared to provide detailed plans and possibly face objections from neighbors or local authorities.
3. Permitted Development Rights
In some cases, you may be able to convert a house into flats without full planning permission. Permitted development rights allow certain types of conversions, but these rights vary by location. It's crucial to check with your local planning authority to see if your project qualifies.
4. HMO Licensing
If your conversion results in multiple self-contained flats, you may also need to apply for an HMO (House in Multiple Occupation) license. HMOs have additional regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
Navigating Building Regulations
Once you've sorted out the planning permission and zoning laws, you'll need to navigate building regulations. These regulations focus on the construction and safety aspects of your conversion project. Here's what you should consider:
1. Structural Changes
Converting a house into flats often involves structural changes. Ensure that your project meets structural safety requirements. This might include reinforcing walls or floors to comply with building codes.
2. Fire Safety
Fire safety is paramount in multiple occupancy buildings. You'll need to install fire alarms, smoke detectors, fire-resistant doors, and possibly a sprinkler system, depending on the size and layout of the flats.
3. Sound Insulation
Sound insulation is essential to maintain privacy and peace between flats. Adequate soundproofing materials and construction techniques must be employed.
4. Accessibility
Ensure that your flats are accessible to all residents, including those with disabilities. This may involve adding ramps, wider doorways, and accessible bathroom facilities.
5. Electrical and Plumbing Systems
Update electrical and plumbing systems to meet modern safety standards. This includes ensuring that each flat has its separate utilities, such as gas, electricity, and water meters.
6. Energy Efficiency
In line with the UK's focus on reducing carbon emissions, your conversion project should meet energy efficiency standards. This may involve upgrading insulation, windows, and heating systems.
Practical Steps to Conversion
Converting a house into flats can be a complex process, but breaking it down into practical steps can make it more manageable. Here's a simplified guide:
1. Initial Research
Identify Use Class: Determine the current use class of your property.
Consult Local Authority: Contact your local planning authority to discuss your project's feasibility.
2. Planning Permission
Submit Application: Prepare and submit a planning permission application.
Engage with Neighbors: Be prepared to address concerns from neighbors or local authorities.
Seek Professional Advice: Consider hiring a planning consultant or architect to assist with your application.
3. Building Regulations
Consult a Structural Engineer: Assess the structural requirements of your conversion.
Fire Safety Assessment: Plan for fire safety measures.
Soundproofing: Incorporate sound insulation techniques.
Accessibility: Ensure your flats are accessible to all.
Utility Separation: Separate utilities for each flat.
Energy Efficiency: Implement energy-efficient upgrades.
4. HMO Licensing
Determine Eligibility: Check if your conversion requires an HMO license.
Apply for License: If needed, apply for an HMO license from your local authority.
5. Construction
Hire Contractors: Select experienced contractors to carry out the work.
Monitor Progress: Keep a close eye on the construction to ensure compliance with regulations.
6. Final Inspections
Building Control Inspection: Schedule inspections with your local building control authority.
Fire Safety Inspection: Ensure fire safety measures are up to standard.
7. Completion
Notify Utilities: Inform utility companies of the new flats.
Register with Local Authority: Register your HMO, if applicable.
Market Your Flats: List your newly converted flats for rent or sale.
Conclusion
Converting a house into flats in the UK can be a rewarding endeavor, both financially and personally. However, it's crucial to understand and navigate the zoning laws and building regulations that govern such projects. Begin with thorough research, consult with local authorities, and enlist professional help as needed. By following the appropriate procedures and ensuring compliance with regulations, you can transform your property into a profitable asset while providing safe and comfortable homes for your future tenants. Cheers to your successful house-to-flats conversion!

However, amidst all the excitement and energy, it’s crucial not to overlook one of the most essential aspects of club management; fire safety and attending appropriate Fire Warden Training. Implementing and maintaining proper fire safety checks in your sports club can safeguard the lives of your members and visitors.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the essential fire safety measures and checks every sports club should undertake regularly. Consider completing Fire Warden Training and / or an Online Fire Safety Training course.
Conduct Regular Fire Safety Risk Assessments
Fire Safety risk assessments are the foundation of fire safety planning. Regular assessments should be conducted to identify potential hazards and assess the effectiveness of existing safety measures. Here’s how to go about it:
Identify potential ignition sources such as cooking equipment, electrical systems, and heating appliances.
Evaluate the potential for fires to spread and the materials that could contribute to the fire’s growth.
Determine the number of people present in the club at different times and their ability to evacuate quickly.
Assess the effectiveness of fire safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and emergency lighting.
Document the findings and create an action plan to address any identified risks.
Maintain Fire Safety Equipment – Fire Warden Training
Fire safety equipment is your first line of defence against a potential fire emergency. Regular checks and maintenance are crucial to ensuring they function optimally when needed. Fire Warden Training will help you achieve this. Here’s what you should focus on:
Fire Extinguishers: Check pressure levels, expiry dates, and ensure they are easily accessible.

Spider-UK’s Henna
Malala Windsor was having a pretty normal day. Well, normal for her involved at least one fight with yet another supervillain that kept cropping up, a mountain of schoolwork and being vomited on by any of the babies her mother was babysitting. Anything less than that meant that Malala considered it to be a slow day.
“Spider-UK, you pest!” Scorpion roared, as she artfully dodged his venom-filled bullets.
“Aww, you came up with a pet name for me, that’s nice,” she cooed, webbing up his gun. He snarled and threw it away. Under the mask, she smirked.
“This ought to shut you up!” the scorpion-themed villain snapped, throwing a grenade. It was supposed to emit a paralyzing gas, but instead, it landed near a live wire and caused a fire, which caught onto the arm of her suit.
"My suit!” Malala yelped, ripping the left sleeve off before it caught onto her skin and burned her. Scorpion scoffed at her spider-themed henna art. She’d done it herself and it was starting to peel.
“And I thought my body modifications were extreme,” he snorted, gesturing to the claw he had on one arm. Malala rolled her eyes.
“Stay there,” she snapped, webbing his feet to the floor as she hit the sprinkler system. As water rained down from the ceiling, Malala webbed Scorpion up a bit more just to be safe and got out of there.
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_
When she got home and inspected her body for any damage (the only damage was to her suit, mashallah), she turned on the news.
Breaking News: Identifying Mark Spotted on Spider-UK’s Hand! Could This Lead To Unmasking The Webhead?
There was her henna pattern, clear as day. “Dammit!” she cursed. Frantically, she got up to wash it off, when a thought struck her.
Maybe I don’t have to wash it off, she thought. So long as I time it just right. She got her henna instead of soap and redid the henna art on her hand.
“Look at the cool henna art I got, you guys!” Felicity “Fizz” Dalton giggled, showing off the spider-henna she’d had done on both arms. “My mum threw a fit, but I told her, if it’s good enough for Spider-UK, it’s good enough for me! And it fades eventually, so it’s way better than a tattoo!” Malala grinned behind the backs of the girls and got out more books. A lot of girls had spider-henna done, too. Most were Muslim, but not all of them.
“This henna pattern has gone viral! Girls all over the UK are wearing this henna!” her seatmate said, giggling as she showed off her own henna art.
“I’m just feeling sorry for the police at this point. Now loads of girls have this henna pattern, they’ll have trouble finding Spider-UK. If anything, they’ve made her even more famous and cool,” Malala mused.
“I know, isn’t it ironic?” her seatmate said.
And Allah has smiled upon me once again, Malala thought to herself, suppressing a grin.

Architects: Real-Life Superheroes
Fire – A word that strikes fear in the bravest hearts! As children, we nonchalantly played the game ‘Fire on the Mountain Run, Run, Run!’... But in our crowded, vertically towering cities, fire is no game… and how and where does one run in case of an unfortunate fire in a high-rise building? Here’s where the wisdom of the age-old adage “Prevention is better than Cure”, becomes pivotal for every decision in the construction world.
Talking of decision-making, there is a group of unsung superheroes who silently and meticulously work behind the scenes, ensuring our safety and security. They eat, breathe and sleep safely, because their decisions literally make the difference between life and death; and the protection, or destruction of hard-earned property. Their safety consciousness is seen right from the word ‘go’, starting with Hazard Control measures at the construction site; Planning for efficient Lightning Protection Systems; Integrating Fire Safety into building design; Ensuring Material Specifications that incorporate high-quality, rated, insulation to prevent fire hazards, as well as secure the life of buildings and their occupants.
These real-life superheroes are the Architects whose painstaking efforts ensure our safety in offices, factories, homes, holiday resorts, malls, restaurants, theatres, stadiums, educational institutions, places of worship, and the list goes on… Their decisions can make or break life and property at every step of the way; every second of the day! Such is the immensity of power in the decisions Architects make. With this great power, comes great responsibility. By consciously striving for safety, Architects are truly the unsung real-life superheroes, responsibly keeping safe millions of lives across the world.
Speaking of safety, fire is one of the greatest threats, especially in high-rise buildings, compelling every possible preventive measure. Fire protection systems like Fire hydrants/sprinklers, Fire escape routes with directional signs, Warning System, Firefighting equipment, and Fire Detector System are visible measures of fire protection; but studies have also put the spotlight on fire-resistant building material, that has significantly reduced the number and intensity of disasters. With this in mind, at Eurobond, fire safety is a concern that has been amply addressed in all the cladding material we offer, as summarised below:
Eurobond A2 Aluminium Composite Panel (ACP)
These ACPs incorporate the best-in-class materials with a minimum 90% mineral core sandwiched between two aluminium skins of alloy 3003/5005 with Kynar 500 PVDF/FEVE lacquered surfaces on the front, and service coated on the rear. The FR mineral core is made of special grade MDH and ATH compounds which are the most reliable Halogen-Free (HF) compounds. Upon forced burning, they emit non-toxic harmless vapor; exhibit the best flame self-extinguishing properties; and are active smoke suppressants, thus greatly helping in containing the spread of fire. Our A2 ACPs have been tested and certified by Exova Warringtonfire, UK Laboratories, China, and have a confirmed rating of EN 13501-1 as Class A2 - s1 d0, thus satisfying almost all the building and construction codes worldwide, including application in fields such as railways, transportation, wind energy, defence, etc.
FR Plus (Class B) Aluminium Composite Panels
These incorporate new generation Mineral Core Filling, which contains 70% advanced mineral compounds, for excellently and economically restraining flammability of minor polymeric content, thus restricting flame propagation and smoke generation in case of a fire. It comprises of two Aluminium skins (Alloy 3003/5005), front skin coated with an advanced PVDF/FEVE coating system, and a rear with a wash coat to provide longevity to the panel. The PVDF/FEVE coated front skin provides excellent colour retention, gloss retention, UV stability, weathering resistance, and pollution resistance – for more than a decade with negligible periodic maintenance. Tested and certified by Exova Warringtonfire, UK, these ACPs have a confirmed rating of EN 13501-1 as Class B - s1 d0. They also have a 3 Hour Fire rating for ASTM E 119 and have been tested by Thomas Bell Wright, Dubai.

In this imperfect world, there will always be superheroes and villains, and Architects too have the option to decide on which side of the divide they want to be. The unscrupulous ones make unprincipled decisions and the unfortunate results are there for all to see! Thankfully the vast majority of Architects are truly superheroes who do everything in their power to build safe buildings because there are literally millions of lives riding on the decisions they make.
The importance of choosing safe cladding material can never be over-emphasized, considering their pivotal role in preventing fire-related disasters, and also in ensuring the life and safety of buildings – and consequently people too. We at Eurobond are committed to innovations that constantly focus on safety in cladding material, to help Superhero Architects in their quest to build a safer world – one building at a time!

Ooh, bonne journée, has it really been a week since I last “spoke” to you? Goodness these weeks are flying by, it will be a new month tomorrow and we are hurtling towards the time of year that we all look forward to; summer 😊.
I visited “le médecin” this week, had a few things to discuss, was pleased to receive the form to be registered with him. My visit to the pharmacy saw the “new lady” spot a prescription that had not been paid for 🙄, I paid and received the necessary feuille de soin to apply for a refund.
I think I read somewhere that it takes a while for some French people to “accept” you. Where I have been happy to give gifts to people who have helped me with things, I notice a hesitance towards friendship sometimes. Such is the case with Monica; she is an estate agent, I corresponded with her way back when I lived in the UK, she was very helpful when I first arrived here showing me properties, even coming and moving the big stone cover on the water pit and climbing inside to read the meter ( I didn’t even buy the house through her 😳) , the first Xmas I made gifts and took her a bag of edible goodies, she was appreciative but I did feel I had overstepped the “friendship” mark. Anyway, I saw her the other day and she asked if I walked to Fontaine (where she lives) she told me her house number and said if her car was there to ring the bell and we would take tea or coffee together. How nice is that?
Had the monthly chat with my friends in Bristol, I am now booked on a flight in June. I am going to stay 4 nights then head up north to see the family. As always I am happy but anxious, especially after last years fiasco when the first train was delayed which meant that subsequent trains were all obsolete and new trains had to be booked “en route”. However, that was last year, we can only be hopeful.
Has Anie returned from her “trip” ? I don’t want to intrude on a bank holiday weekend so will wait until Tuesday to message her.
I was happy to see broad beans, rocket and lettuce coming through in the potager and so I removed the grillage. The following morning some of the broad beans had been dug up and a cat had 💩 in the bed. I was so upset! I don’t grow these things to have oodles of produce, I do it for my own well-being, getting outside, talking to the plants, watching them grow and produce, really really helps me through the year. I poured a potful of black pepper all over said potager, recovered with the grillage but will have to see about weaving string across it in the hope it will deter it again. As if to repay me for doing that, after spending Thursday cutting grass and tidying up in the back garden the cat decided to leave me a mangled corpse of a bird and on Saturday morning a pile of 💩 on the grass 😭. My sister said it was a shame that I didn’t have a sprinkler system, my goodness no! 😱 water is too precious a commodity to use up spraying at a cat, which would probably be wearing a wet suit anyway 😂😂. It’s going to be the old “scoot” type stuff I think.
So after clearing up after the cat, I have seen peas and beetroot shoots appearing, that put a smile on my face. I found the peony, which I knew was round by the forsythia bush, it’s leaves were taking in the sun and I am hoping against hope that this year it will flower. The two I picked up in the gaspillage last year are really doing well, the one I bought, not so! Unfortunately the beautiful hibiscus from last year looks dead, no green life in it at all. I am quite sad as it was beautiful but it obviously didn’t withstand the winter weather.
Of course, I have been to the bar this week. I love going in and reading the newspaper, of course I could go into the médiathèque and do the same but I find the bar more relaxing. I even had a non alcoholic cocktail one day, it was a Sandy Island, very tropical and fruity I really enjoyed it.
I turned up for “Knitting with refugees” only to find that the girl I had messaged was now on holiday and she hadn’t passed the message on. No harm done! Restarting May 15th 🤞. It was the knitting group with the French ladies and a couple of people took the items to be displayed and offered for sale…… I am still stitching mine up 🙄, so need to get them finished for next time.
It’s a busy next couple of weeks, but more about that later. Until then let’s have a look at an excerpt from “Days” by Philip Larkin
“What are days for?
Days are where we live.
They come, they wake us
Time and time over.
They are to be happy in:
Where can we live but days?”
Now I am ready for a cup of coffee, so I will wish you all a “Bon week-end” enjoy the Bank holiday on Monday 😊.

Photo
13th September 1962 - Test pilot George Aird ejected from XG332 Lightning F1 near Hatfield, Hertfordshire at very low altitude, after the plane became uncontrollable due to an engine fire.
Amazingly, George survived after crashing down through a greenhouse roof, breaking both legs and right thigh. He was unconscious due to the impact of landing and was woken by jets of cold water from the greenhouse’s sprinkler system. He later recovered to resume his flying career.
The photograph was captured by Jim Mead who had positioned himself close to Hatfield airfield in the hope of photographing his neighbour (also a test pilot) who was due to fly on that day.
The startled driver was 15-year-old Mick Sutterby, and the tractor appears to be a Fordson Major built by Ford at Dagenham, UK betyween 1933 and 1964.
