Short version. If you hit something when moving fast enough, it's destroyed. Detailed explanation below:

Basically the game checks Mina's speed every 5 frames, and if the distance traveled between those frames is large enough, it starts playing the "speed" sound cue, and showing the speed line visual effect. After a certain length of time in this state, if Mina collides with a solid material, an explosion sound will play, and a circle of material will be destroyed, and the timer will reset. It seems that the explosion can happen multiple frames in a row (up to 5?) before the timer is reset leading to a slightly longer hole than expected and probably also explains why the sound is so damn loud. There are two hole sizes that can result purely based on the timer, more time flying means that the larger radius of 30 will be used. Less time flying results in a radius 15 hole, or no hole at all. There are two methods I have found to achieve sufficient speed:

Teleporting using teleport bolt or small teleport bolt. Nolla and long-distance cast are not necessary, although they can help reduce cast delay. I don't know if it's possible to use the more niche methods of teleportation like Return, Swapper, or Homebringer to achieve ram digging.

Recoil ramming requires atleast 80 recoil to work if fired every single frame, or atleast 100 recoil if fired every 5th frame. The cheapest option is Recoil on a digging bolt (5 mana for 200 recoil), for a more controllable flight, two Heavy Shot spells or three bloodlusts also work and are relatively cheap mana-wise. some projectiles have enough innate recoil like Ball Lightning and Lightning Bolt also work if you can afford the mana cost every 5 frames. A more complete list of all spells that interact with recoil can be found here.

It's paradoxically easiest to use Ramming to dig when moving slower (around 100 recoil, or nolla small teleport bolt), both because it's easier to aim your flight at lower speeds, and because you don't need to fly as far away to have the necessary flight time to trigger the effect. Ultimately this digging method is very niche because it's very slow and hard to aim, and there's an inherent limit on how fast you can dig with it due to the requirement of moving at sufficient speed for a certain length of time.

Here are plans I have.

I'm slowly getting out of my block, and I'm working on my Custom Swapforce Skylanders.

However in order to even out the number of swappers and powers, there are two things I'm doing.

1. Creating new swap abilities.

These two new swap powers are Dive (marked by a picture of bubbles) and Gravitate (marked by arrows pointing up and down.

Swappers with the Dive ability are able to enter a minigame that involves diving to the bottom of a deep body of water, using a spin attack to dodge torpedoes or smash through underwater debris.

Swappers with the Gravitate ability activate a 2 dimensional platforming minigame, where they can flip gravity to mess with the physics.

Seeing as the current swap powers are pretty varied already, these were the only two I could think of honestly.

2. I have to make a ton of characters, making it to where there's 3 swappers per element.

While Gravitate could be shared between Light and Dark, I don't think it would be the same for abilities like Dive, especially when having a Water Dive swapper would be a no brainer.

Here are the characters I plan on designing.

Party Popper: a Magic Skylander with the bounce ability. Rather than having a tail that coils like a spring however, this is a circus/toy themed skylander balancing on a big rubber bouncy ball.

Steam Work: a Tech Skylander with the dig ability. He has a steampunk styled design, and rolls around on tank treads. Plus Drills are pretty common for the Tech Element.

Croak Soaker: a Water Skylander with the Dive ability. This frog is dressed up for some fun in the sun and he's ready for a Water fight, armed with water balloons and the ability to surf with his webbed feet.

Tail Burner: a Fire Skylander with the spin ability. Mostly because a Fire devil Skylander who whips with a flaming tail would be cool.

Cliff Hanger: while this is an Earth styled name, this will actually be a Life Skylander with the Climb ability. He'll be a mantis and his arms will be shaped like mountain climbing picks.

Fear Raiser: a ghostly Undead Skylander with the Gravitate ability, as ghosts causing people and objects to wildly float around seems like something interesting to play with.

Fleet Breeze: an Air Skylander with the speed ability, with boots styled like that of Hermes, the messenger of the Greek gods.

Mud Snapper: this Earth Skylander has the Dive ability, and is styled after a crustacean like a crawdad or crayfish. He uses his claws and tail to scoop up and fling mud.

Star Shooter: a sy-fy styled Light Skylander with the Gravitate ability. He'll be the Light element's poster swapper, like Blast zone is to fire for example.

Comet Crasher: a Light swapper who's body is made of light crystals. He has the Rocket ability.

Laser Sight: this Light element swapper has the sneak ability, and he turns invisible using a specialized belt that messes with the visible light spectrum.

Depth Strider: a Dark element Skylander with the Dive ability, with angler fish styled armor and a Harpoon gun best suited for the Darkest depths of the ocean. Like Star Shooter, he's the poster Swapper for his element.

Moon Stalker: a Dark alien Skylander with the Gravitate ability. He's somewhat inspired by horrifying aliens, kinda like from alien vs predator.

Void Master: a Dark element Skylander who can create black holes. He has the Teleport ability, though I'm still thinking about his design.

Do these sound like good ideas for characters? Depth Strider is the one I've started on so far. Once he's done I'll definitely be showing him.

I just love the potential bodyswap episodes have for hijinks and angst all at once.

- some villain just has some kinda magic powers that let them do this. Not sure if elemental master. I'm leaning more toward just magic but i’unno

- Kai, Zane, Cole, Jay, and Lloyd are all hit by it because they're dumb enough to charge at this person 

- this lasts like 4-5 eps at least. I just want a mini-arc with this 

- everyone is freaking out and falling over themselves because they all have different areas of strength and move differently. Like Cole’s mostly upper body strength and Jay’s more based on speed etc.

- Nya and Pixal make fun of them for being dumb enough to get stuck like this (they're in possession of all the brain cells at that point in time)

- Cole becomes Kai, Zane becomes Jay, Kai becomes Lloyd, Jay becomes Cole, Lloyd becomes Zane 

- Lloyd as Zane is instantly overwhelmed and Zane as Jay is banging his head against a wall because oh God he's so blind now 

– Lloyd wonders how the fuck he can live with all these displays in his face and Zane’s like “i’unno I thought that was how you guys saw too but I was INCORRECT”

- but also because Zane always worries he's not human enough he's also just staring at his (Jay's) hands like "haha...I'm a person...I’m not just code I'm a person and you can take me away from my body and I'm still alive!" he's very thrilled by the idea

- So thrilled he is too distracted to help them track this person down and Lloyd as Zane can't figure out how to work any of his displays or connect to the computer and find the person who did this. 

- they spend an episode training and adjusting but they can't use each other's power. Everyone's trying to teach each other but it doesn't work, they all tap into it differently. It’s a little like the steven universe ep where Steven tried to figure out what his weapon is, but more of a clusterfuck 

– Jay as Cole and Lloyd as Zane keep breaking things and ripping doors off hinges, they’re not allowed to handle anything important anymore.

- They eventually track this person down and try to fight them but get the floor wiped with them because they can’t control their powers and also general bickering so they end up being swapped again 

- Now Kai is Zane, Lloyd is Cole, Jay is Lloyd, Cole is Jay, and Zane is Kai

- they have signs with pictures of each other's faces to know who's where but they got the pictures off the internet and some are more flattering than others so it's a competition to find the best terrible picture of each other. 

-they’re dumb this takes a while. 

- they spend an even longer time training than before, they can get tiny little bursts of power but nothing very big, certainly none of them can do spinjitzu which causes Some Problems

- Lloyd is doing?? the best?? but not by much. He’s used Cole’s powers before but straight up existing as Cole is totally different. even using earth powers as the gold ninja just worked differently so he can’t make it work the way he wants

- Zane as Kai can set things on fire now, mostly himself, good thing he’s immune to his own fire or else this would be way worse.

- eventually after enough meditating and talking in a much calmer manner than last time they work out a system they can use to at least not instantly get killed in a fight

- this time they actually plan ahead and make a bit of a hike to find the swapper and sneak up on them

- swapper just laughs at them and puts them back where they should be

- turns out if the ninja had just waited another few days they'd be back to normal anyways haha pranked 

- this person isn’t even trying to cause harm they’re just kind of an asshole who wants to inconvenience everyone

- they have learned more about each other than anticipated and can work better together now 

- Jay: but also if we ever get swapped again I'm going to lose it  Everyone else: agreed.

This allows for exploration and experimentation without any real risk and because the player is actively  a part of the experience it causes them to identify and process what is on screen more carefully. That isn't to say that every video game should be an in-depth exploration into the human psyche or anything like that. I wouldn't ever want that, could you imagine that? Doesn't bear thinking about. Anyway where was I? Oh yes, The Swapper. It's a puzzle game, one that involves quite a bit of lateral thinking and timing. You solve its multitudinous puzzles by creating up to four clones of yourself that you can swap in and out of. So what can you do with four clones? Kill them usually, in the service of actually solving the puzzles, of course... mostly.

Interestingly you can switch control of the duplicates, even during mid-fall. Meaning that you can be falling to your death, summon a duplicate on the ground and take control of them leaving your old body to become a red smear on the ground beside you. It's a great mechanic, however it does give me some pause on a philosophical level. In fact quite often the puzzles will require your duplicates to die, which, again causes me some disquiet. So why are you solving puzzles? Well there is a narrative reason that I don't wish to give away. However from a gameplay standpoint solving the puzzles gives you monogone orbs, these orbs act as keys and open doors that allow you to progress the game.

I gave controlling this game with a control pad but I just found it much easier to use my mouse and keyboard. I'm sure that's just me, because the controls were perfectly functional on the control pad I just enjoy the speed and accuracy a mouse grants. I'll be honest as much as I like this game it does beat you over the head with philosophy. I know that I enjoyed The Talos Principle and its exploration into somewhat similar philosophical territory but there was a couple of major differences. However the main difference for me is the humour, or lack thereof in the Swapper. I know its a serious game but if I'm kept in a feeling of oppression and dread for too long I start to disengage. Even Alien Isolation had a few humorous parts that made the suspense and fear all the more palpable. If this appeals to you perhaps try; QUBE Portal The Talos Principle
