I really do ship Thundercacker and Marissa in the IDW comics. So they are together in my AU. So during the big war on earth, Marissa was part of the Earth defense command's "skywatch" sector. She was assigned to be partnered with a newly defected Thundrecracker.

near the end of the war, things were not looking good on earth. The constain fighting had done a number on many human cities and put most of the world into chaos. So when Optimus died and peace treaties were singed, many different opinions where made about transformers. Seekers in particular were despised by mostly everyone (not shocking as they were really good at killing people). Seeing that earth was in the dumps and seekers were no longer allowed on earth, Thundercracker and Faireborn made the hard dessison to leave for Cybertron.

However not before heading to Talakan (G1 episode 33, season 2, I'm not making this shit up) and changing Marissa into a Cybertonian to make sure she could survive on Cybertron. Posing as a bot form a Cybertonain colony planet, Fireborn became integrated with the hierarchy of the seekers. She and Thundercracker still miss earth immensely, however rightfully assume it's still a charred mess.
