Daily Spanish music sharing day #3! Today I present to you La Canción del Pirata, by Tierra Santa!

This song is actually pretty special, because it's not just a song; it's a poem.

So there's this poem by the same name from the "época del romanticismo" that talks about a pirate, and the group Tierra Santa took its words and turned them into the lyrics of an actual song. When my dad was a teenager, students would often be tasked with memorizing the poem and this song was pretty useful for that.

I've never had to memorize it because we don't do that anymore where I'm from, but I memorized it anyway because it's an amazing poem - and the song is amazing too! Give it a listen!

It talks about a disaster, the Prestige disaster, the sinking of a ship which released a LOT of petroleum into the sea and contaminated the coasts of Galicia, if I'm remembering it correctly.
