Speaking of pudding, I actually don't know if Oli was the only one who's eating it but when Louis was in the Philippines during LTWTManila, I saw Oli going into a "Pasalubong" (in English souvenir) store and going out with atleast 3+ tubs of Leche Flan and Ube Flan. He must've love pudding so much to buy that many. I think I also saw him carrying a Pichi-Pichi or a Biko box (it has a big label on the side that's readable so that's why I know) so he must like rice treats as well.
could anyone have predicted the rise of Oli/ pudding receipts?! NOT ME!!! every new day on this site is a gift from the gods above

The mother and daughter were on the way to Ysla’s house when tragedy struck. The loss of her beloved student and friend plunged Ysla into a state of deep depression, and she struggled to cope with the void left by their absence. — It was during this dark period that Ysla stumbled upon a video of Mirabel taken by her mother expressing their desire to travel the world with her. Culture Fact File
(A view of the Manila Bay)
Here are some fascinating facts about my Filipino culture, which is shaped by a blend of indigenous traditions, Spanish influences, and modern Western elements:
1. Bayanihan Spirit: The concept of bayanihan is deeply rooted in Filipino culture and represents a spirit of communal unity and cooperation. Traditionally, it refers to neighbors helping to physically move a house by carrying it on bamboo poles, symbolizing helping one another without expecting anything in return.
2. Fiestas and Festivals: Filipinos celebrate numerous fiestas (festivals) throughout the year to honor patron saints and celebrate local heritage. Some of the most popular ones include the Sinulog Festival in Cebu, the Ati-Atihan Festival in Aklan, and the Pahiyas Festival in Quezon, known for their vibrant parades, costumes, and street dances.
3. Catholic Influence: The Philippines is the only predominantly Catholic country in Asia, a legacy of Spanish colonization. About 80% of Filipinos identify as Catholic, and the faith plays a significant role in everyday life, including events like baptisms, fiestas, and processions.
4. Balikbayan Boxes: Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) often send balikbayan boxes filled with gifts, clothing, and food to their families back home. These boxes symbolize care and love from abroad and are eagerly awaited by Filipino families.
5. Pamamanhikan: In traditional Filipino culture, pamamanhikan is the custom where a man and his family formally ask for a woman’s hand in marriage. This is typically followed by a meal where both families discuss wedding arrangements and get to know each other.
6. Pasalubong: Pasalubong are small gifts or souvenirs brought home by travelers for friends and family. It’s a way to show thoughtfulness and share a part of one’s journey with loved ones.
7. Strong Family Ties: Family is the cornerstone of Filipino culture. It’s common for extended families to live together or nearby, with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins playing active roles in each other’s lives. Filipino families are known for their close-knit relationships and mutual support.
8. Love for Karaoke: Karaoke is a national pastime in the Philippines, with many Filipinos owning karaoke machines at home. Singing karaoke is a popular form of entertainment during family gatherings, parties, and even public events.
9. Filipino Hospitality: Filipinos are famous for their warm hospitality, often going out of their way to make guests feel comfortable. It’s common to be offered food, drinks, and even a place to stay if you’re visiting a Filipino home, with hosts often saying, “Feel at home.”
10. Respect for Nature and Spiritual Beliefs: Many Filipinos, especially in rural areas, hold animistic beliefs and respect nature spirits known as anitos. These beliefs are mixed with Catholic traditions, with some families still offering rituals or prayers to respect and appease nature.
Filipino culture is a beautiful blend of community spirit, respect for elders, religious devotion, and a love for family and hospitality.

Pasolubong
When I was a kid and we would take periodic trips to the Philippines, my parents were always in a flurry about pasolubong (souvenirs). In the past my mom would make a list of each relative we were visiting and made sure she had something to give them. She also sent balikbayan boxes of American candies, soaps, perfumes, clothes, and our clothing (second hand).
I was often fascinated by my mom's generosity and her meticulousness to make everyone at home feel included. The way she packed it tight, measured the boxes, called the remittance packing places to pick up.
Everyone was so gracious of my mom. I carried this behavior with me as an adult. She would often tell me I didn't have the money to be spending like this on people. I realize at her age with similar amounts of income, neither did she! But we did it anyway as we are programmed to give back and be thoughtful but also the subconscious idea of being in America was part of the imagination that we had more privilege and "should" have the capacity to be generous.
So while I packed for my trip in the year 2024, I realize things are much different. My friend Lawrence said that most products you can buy in America are made in China, which means they're more obtainable now in the Philippines with it being geographically so close. And while I packed my mother's goods into my luggage she advised me to hide them under an old towel or garment in case someone might take them.
With these 2 tips, I realized how trusting and naive I am about a lot of things beneath my eager Filipino self. I don't think I've mastered at all the art of pasolubong buying or preparing even if my heart is in the right place. Classic me, applying pressure on myself.
Maybe I am questioning my own status. Maybe I am trying to make a statement on behalf of my mother that I am not some failure as I exit a job and escape to the Philippines hoping to turn off social media communications...
Time will tell.

What if it's a polariod camera and each occasion (let's say birthday or Christmas) he gives a box of printed out polariods to the people he loves. Each box contains pictures that remind him of them and little trinkets and souvenirs he accumulated throughout his journey and some candid photos of that person + a polaroid selfie of them together with nico.
Just imagine Nico gifting Jason a small handcrafted box from the Philippines and upon opening it he sees pictures of the sky (mostly sunrise) in different places like mountains, cliffs, fields, on top of buildings etc. Then you see a trinket of a small snowglobe without the snow, and at the bottom, it says, 'reminds me of u'
I would like to believe that Nico saw a floating lantern festival once when he accidentally shadow-traveled to China and, ever since then, has been making occasional visits to either just watch or participate in it.
#i imagine nico doing all the efforts into this tiny box to gift them to his closest friends and loved ones#fluff!#wholesome#nico being a cootie patootie#sentimental nico will be my weakness#nico di angelo#pjo

Trouble Trouble Trouble
Kriesha Tiu and Kim Minju
Tags: Threesome, Slight angry sex, Cheating
Words: 3.3K
If you know a bit more about Minju then you'll know who she is.
I'm not sure if they are still friends but I think they are. Just haven't heard of much interaction between them since pd48.
You and your girlfriend walk down the airplane aisle to look for your seats.
“Your parents are weird.”
“Oppa, what did you expect? They are Filipino. You are Korean. I told you to be ready for culture shock.”
“Kriesha, whatever. At least they liked me, right?”
“They did for the most part...”
“What do you mean?”
“Your incessant bowing weirded them out. They aren’t used to that.”
“When you meet my parents, you have to do that. Trust me, and they are very conservative.”
“Oppa, did those conservative parents raise a guy that fucked a celebrity ten times in the past two weeks?”
As you grab her butt, “Shut up!”
“Oppa, not here!” she giggles. “Here are our seats.”
You and your girlfriend, Kriesha Tiu, just celebrated your 2nd anniversary by meeting her parents over the Christmas break. It went well, meeting her parents, grandparents, cousins, and whoever else was considered part of the family. It was exhausting trying to remember all their names, but you made it through, and now you have to fly back to Korea. She needs to return to her company to prepare for her long-awaited comeback.
The following six hours just become a blur as you ride the airplane home.
“Oppa, wake up. We are landing.” Kriesha shakes your arm
“Oh. Huh? Okay. What?” you try to sit back up and remove the eye covers that are misaligned on your face.
*Good evening, ladies and gentlemen; we are on initial descend to Seoul. Local time is 9:25 pm, and we should be down in touchdown in 10 minutes. *
“Kriesha, is Minju going to pick us up?” you look at her then away.
“She is. She is already waiting for us at the terminal.”
“Hehe, I’m excited.”
“Oppa, you should stop that. I know she is your IZ*ONE bias, but she is my friend, and don’t forget you are my boyfriend!”
“Hahaha, I’m just messing with you. You know I always love you. It is just sometimes it is fun poking around that I like her.”
She rolls over her eyes, annoyed that you are always teasing her about how Minju-angel is and will always be your ult. But of course, Kriesha knows you are hers, and you always constantly assure that is always true.
The plane touches down. It bounces up a bit, showing the slight inexperience of the flying pilot. But it is a quick procedure, as the aircraft hit the apron and the deboarding process begins. Ordinary things, walk to immigration, passports get stamped, and pick up the luggage from the carousel.
As you hold hands with your girlfriend to walk to the visitor’s welcoming lounge, There she is, Minju.
“Unnie!” Minju shouts, running towards Kriesha and giving her a big hug. “How was the Philippines? Did you bring dried mangoes for me?”
Kriesha shuffles through her shoulder bag and pulls out the bundle of the sweet 7D dried mangoes just for Minju. “Of course, I have plenty of pasalubong for you.”
A/N pasalubong (Filipino) - souvenirs or gifts that people who travel give to their friends and family when coming home
“Unnie, I’m excited!”
You approach them pushing the cart with your bags and two boxes of the pasalubong Kriesha promised.
“Can we go home now? I exhausted from the flight,” you desperately ask
“Okay, Okay. I’ll call the driver now. He should be close.” Minju replies
All three of you stand outside in the cold January wind. The snow is still fresh on the ground. The black Hyundai Grand Starex stops in front of you. While Minju and Kriesha board the van, their manager helps you load the bags in the trunk. Everyone gets in and settles for another long ride from the airport to your shared apartment with your girlfriend. You go back to sleep, trying to get some rest after the long flight.
Kriesha pokes your shoulder. “Oppa, we are here.”
Startled again, you wake up. It is already the drop-off area of your building. As the man in the situation, you unload all of the luggage from the trunk.
“Manger-nim, Is it alright if Minju stays over with us?”
He looks at Kriesha, flustered by the question, “Just make sure you are ready for tomorrow; you have dance practice in the morning.”
“Okay! Thank you! Thank you!” Kriesha now looks at Minju. “I’ll tell you all about what happened!”
They both hold hands and jump around in circles, ecstatic.
“Unnie, I don’t like sleeping alone. I’m happy that I’m with you again!” Minju gives another hug, even tighter than the one at the airport.
“Girls, can you help me?” You try to pick up everything, the bags, and the boxes.
“We can do two tri-“
“No! No two trips. We can only do one. Trust me, it is possible. If you can hold the smaller box and pull your bag and Minju, you can take the bigger box. And I can carry the two strollers and three backpacks and place my shoulder bag over on my right side. That’s fine.”
“Are you sure? We can take two tri-“
“No! No two trips!”
“If you insist….” Kriesha says as she complies, doing her share of your stupid plan.
Minju does her part. But of course, the weight of everything you are carrying almost breaks your back. But your pride is everything. No person shall take two trips. As everyone enters the elevator, you hope that everything will fit, and it barely does.
“Minju, Oppa, actually, I think I have to sleep early. I have my schedule, and I need the rest.”
“Unnie, no problem. I can get the juicy stories from Oppa then.”
*Ding*
You wear the backpacks, readying yourself again for the challenge. It looks like you’ll struggle for a bit, but your determinacy is still strong enough to carry everything.
“Oppa, we-“
“Don’t say it.”
You shuffle towards the door, still carrying everything, holding on to dear life to show that you aren’t too weak to make two trips.
Kriesha sees your struggles and gets back on your teasing. She strolls to the door, taking her sweet time as she sees your face become hot red. She slowly presses each button of the 6-digit combination. But on the last digit, her finger hovers above 7.
“Ops, Oppa, what’s the combination again?” as she looks back at you with a vengeful smile.
“1-2-2-0-9-8!! It is your birthday! You know it. I know it. Even Minju knows it! Open the door already!”
“I’m sorry, what was it?”
“1-2-2-0-9-8! Fine! I’m sorry! You were right! We should have taken two trips!”
“Haha!” she kisses your cheek and correctly punches in the correct code, opening the door.
You rush in and drop down everything. Kriesha and Minju walk in laughing at your misjudgment but are still impressed with your insistence and success in carrying everything in one trip.
“Okay! I’ll listen to you next time.”
“Oppa, you said that last time. When we brought in the groceries.”
“I was right, though. One trip. But next time, I promise.” With your hands on the ground and still panting
Krisha laughs again, walking away. You stand up to collect yourself, grabbing a special small bag out of your backpack.
“Minju, I was able to buy new coffee beans. Do you want to try them?!”
“Sure, Oppa! Those are from Mt. Apo, right?”
“Yup, just roasted seven days ago! Kriesha, do you want to try?”
While walking to your shared room, she answers, “None for me. I’ll go to sleep. Goodnight. Love you,” as she yawns.
“Goodnight, Love you too.”
“Well, let's get started, Oppa!”
A/N for those coffee connoisseurs, I’m sooo sorry if I’m wrong
You grab the grinder and the French press from the cabinet.
First, boil some water in the kettle.
Second, use the water from the kettle to preheat the French press.
“Minju, do you want one cup, or do we share?”
“One for me, please.”
Thirdly, measure 16 grams of the beans, just enough for two cups, then grind them coarsely for the French press.
Fourth, heat another 472 mL of water to 90 degrees Celsius.
Fifth, pour out the water that pre-heated the French press, then add the coffee inside and pour the water in a swirling motion. Stir to make sure everything is adequately mixed.
“Okay, now we wait four minutes!”
“Oppa, what do will it taste like.”
“Well, according to my friend. It is supposed to be more citrus, fruity, and nutty. But it is my first time trying this out.”
“So, how was the trip?!”
“Well, kinda tough meeting Kriesha’s parents. Good thing I could speak a bit of English. They also tried speaking Korean, but anyway. Kriesha said they had fun. I hope they did.”
Minju looks at the timer. “Four minutes it up. Can I push it?”
“Sure, do it gently.”
As Minju slowly presses on the French press, you grab two mugs. She pours for both you and her. Then as it fills. The fresh coffee aroma envelopes in your nasal cavities. The smell already gives off its flavor.
“Oppa, here is one for you and one for me.”
“Minju? Cheers?”
*Cling*
Both mugs touch. You both move to the living room and become comfortable, sitting at the opposite side of the couch made for three. You sit down, leaning back, relaxing, and taking a sip of the aromatic drink. In contrast, Minju sits down, crosses her legs, slightly revealing her thick thighs.
“So, Oppa, how was the Philippines?”
“We didn’t go to Boracay, surprisingly. We stayed in Manila first, then we took a flight to Cebu and went snorkeling and swimming with the Whale sharks.”
“Oh, that sounds fun. What did you wear…?”
“Why are you asking?”
“Just want to try to get a better picture of your bod-. I mean trip. I’m sure Kriesha was wearing her sexy bikini. I wouldn’t be surprised if you got a nosebleed.”
You lean forward and place your mug on the center table. “Do you think that Kriesha is sexy?”
Minju stands up, placing her drink on the table as well. “I’m not focusing on her. How about you?” She knees in front of you, spreading your legs wide open, showing off the slowly growing bulge.
“I don’t think we should do this….”
“Don’t worry as long as your girlfriend doesn’t find out.”
“Don’t you want to enjoy the co-“
Before you can finish, Minju lunges in and swiftly unbuttons your pants, pulling them down along with your underwear.
“Wow, you are ready. You are already hard for Minju?”
“We shouldn’t do this….”
“We should. Unnie wouldn’t mind, right?”
You nod in fear and excitement, knowing that Minju will do next.
She dives in, kisses your tip, swirls her tongue around it and moves down to the bottom of your shaft, and gives a good whiff of your crotch.
“Unnie always mentions you put on perfume down here. I had to find out if it was true.” As she continues to slowly stroke your cock. “Were you supposed to do naughty things to Unnie tonight?”
You look down, seeing Minju’s face. The face isn’t of an angel anymore but a sexually desperate demon.
“Were you? Minju is asking.”
“We did have sex before the flight.”
Minju takes in another whiff. “Aahhh, cherries. She does have good taste.” She lets go of your cock and removes her shirt. “It is Minju’s turn now.”
She dives in and swallows everything at once. Her lips surround your entire girth as it delicately tickles it. You let out a gentle moan as she goes in. She continues with her sucking, bobbing her head up and down. Her hand grabs onto your thighs to support herself.
The sound of her sloppy blowjob echoes in your ears. The only focus right now is Minju and her sensational ability.
“Minju, you are good.” You groan.
She pops her head from your cock but leaves her hand to continuously stroke it. “Am I better than Unnie?”
You pause for a second. Of course, your girlfriend gives good head. But Minju’s technique is too different to compare. “You are both excellent. It isn’t the same.”
“Well, I can show you more if you want?” Minju stands up and unhooks her bra, revealing a pair of perky breasts. She stands her topless, hand on her hip, leaning at one side. “Whose is bigger?”
“Umm-“
“Never mind. Don’t answer. I already know.” She unbuckles her tiny jean shorts and pulls down, exposing a tiny slit waiting for you.
“Minju, are you sure about this?”
“Are you?”
Before you can answer, Minju sits on your lap and wraps her legs around you. You instinctively hold onto her soft, gentle waist. She places her left hand on your shoulder, and her right moves down to rub it against your length. Minju leans in for a soft kiss, touching it gently. Each meeting sends shivers down your spine.
“Ahem”
You both look back at the bedroom door. It is Kriesha.
“Ay-nako. I went to sleep, and this is what I find you doing here.”
Unable to escape Minju’s weight. You sit down stammering. “Kriesha, I know what it looks like…. And it is exactly what it looks like….”
“Oppa, I’m not mad.”
“You aren’t?”
“To be honest, I didn’t know it would take you this long before you started fucking Minju.”
“Don’t worry, Oppa, Unnie, and I had a bet. And I guess I won.” Minju smirks
“So, Kriesha, you aren’t angry?”
Her tone changes. “It depends.” She slowly undoes each button exposing her pair, and seductively walks towards you; each foot moves one at a time. “It depends on what will happen tonight.” She comes in, leans for a kiss, and then sits on the couch's arm.
Minju gets off your lap, and both she and Kriesha moves in between your legs.
“Now, Minju and I will have a second bet. Tell me, Oppa. Do you enjoy this?”
Kriesha then comes in to lick your shaft thoroughly from the base to the top then engulfs it. Her lips move down all the way. As her mouth moves up, her tongue drags your cock inside her mouth. She then removes herself from your cock.
“Or this?”
Minju repeats the same thing, the lick, the suck, then the release. The same, but both feel different. Kriesha is rougher in her approach, but Minju is gentler. They both look at you, waiting for an answer, but you sit there speechless.
Unhappy with the silence, your girlfriend goes back down again, but this time rigorously swallows everything. Her mouth takes everything at once. She continuously moves up and down, using her hand to aid her approach. Minju, annoyed with being left out, moves up and smacks her lips against yours.
Your hand moves to her breast and starts playing with it. The other starts caressing her soft, bouncy ass, squeezing it, and slapping it. You start fingering Minju. Frist with the index. It slowly starts going in from behind.
Minju breaks the kiss to give her some space for the both of you to give a gentle moan. At the same time, Kriesha pops her head off from your cock, removes her bottoms, and interrupts you and Minju. While your girlfriend pounces you onto the couch to move her hips above you, Minju hovers her pussy above your mouth.
You become the first by slowly kissing the entrance of her pussy. Down below, Kriesha aligns herself on top of your cock to tease herself, using the tip on her entrance. But finally, with what feels like forever, she drops herself. The familiar walls surround your shaft as the warmth welcomes it. Kriesha releases a loud moan as your cock enters her. She uses her legs to move up and down, slowly increasing her pace.
For Minju’s pleasure, you start to eat her. Your tongue entering inside her. She cannot stop herself from screaming in pleasure. Her hands get a firm grip on your hair as yours wraps around her meaty thighs to try to make her stay still.
“Oppa, are you enjoying Minju more?” Kriesha gets slightly angry and gets up and pulls Minju away from you. You get up, surprised by her actions. She forces Minju to face her hands on the coffee table to expose her ass to you, and she does the same.
You look at them both as they look back. To your right is Minju and to your left is Kriesha. You use your respective hands to feel the aroused pussies and see which hole you want to insert first.
“Oppa, try me first.” Your girlfriend asks.
You lean into her, but before you put your cock inside.
Minju protests, “No, Oppa me first.”
You look again between both. Their eyes are begging that you’ll enter them first. Your cock instinctively moves towards Minju. It is something you haven’t tried; you might as well go there first. You push in first. Her face shows a painful expression. The same one when Kriesha had when she first took on your cock. You fully slam your hips against Minju.
She grunts as finally, you can fully enter her. You move in and down slowly and increase your pace. To not leave your girlfriend out, you push your finger into her and move in the same motion you are with Minju.
All three of you scream in pleasure. The sound reverberates all around the living room. Your cock and fingers slide in and out faster after each minute. But you pull out to give Kriesha some time to feel your cock. You finger Minju the same. You resume the fast pace that was before.
“Oh, Unnie. Why…didn’t….you….tell….me….he…was….so…good?”
“He…is…mine,…Minju. He…is…mine.”
The girls argue about you. Slowly, their voices become silent. The only thing you can feel on your cock is how each pussy feels around your cock. You move back and forth between them. Kriesha is the familiar one, the one you have felt at home for the past two years. But Minju is a whole new horse. Her tightness constricts your new cock, welcoming it as your thrust in and out.
“Oppa, is Minju better than me?” Kriesha snaps you out of your trance.
All she sees is your eyes struggling to open as it closes in pleasure. Your mouth can only groan at how each girl gets tighter each second.
“Tell me, Oppa.” Her voice starts to get irritated.
“Kriesha! It is yours! Your pussy feels the best!”
She smirks at Minju. Showing how she can please a man more.
As your cock switches back to Minju, “No! It is Minju!” you can only scream. The pleasure of Minju is now more evident than before.
Slightly annoyed with your sudden change of answer, Kriesha gets up and pushes you down to the couch, still inserted inside Minju. She now moves up and down on your cock. While Kriesha leans in and whispers to your ear.
“If you like her so much, cum inside her Oppa, please cum inside her.” Her anger turns to pleads for breeding
“Oh, yes, Oppa, please cum inside!” Minju shrieks after begging for your seed.
Kriesha leans in for another kiss as you fondle with her breast. She cups your face and rubs her hand on your cheeks.
“You want it inside?”
“Oh yes, Oppa, shoot it in me!”
Suddenly you burst inside Minju. Your entire load gets shot inside her. You grunt as each wave of cum runs inside. She gets up, leaving the breeding leaking out of her as she walks to the bathroom to clean herself.
But your lips still locked in with Kriesha’s. Your limped cock touches Kiresha’s soft ass. You slowly move in to lie down together and cuddle as you drift to sleep.
The following day, Krisha is gone from you. You are still nude from last night. Minju is sitting at the dining table eating some cereal for breakfast.
“Minju, where is my girlfriend?”
“Oh, she already went to work.”
You get up and see that Minju is still naked.
“Oppa, thanks for last night!. Yesterday was a long day for me.”
“Uhh, no problem?”
“Anyway, do you want to try again? This time the two of us?”

Alamat "ILY ILY" is beautiful
hi, I'm just gonna write something quick to process my thoughts and analysis bc this MV and the song is so good and dense with message.
For some vague contexts, OFWs or overseas filipino workers, are often heralded as “Bagong Bayani” (trans. the new heroes) as they bring in millions of pesos every year to help with expenses and living costs back home. As of Nov 8 2022, $1 (US dollar) = roughly Php 58 (Philippine peso). I’m not sure how it’s changed over the years, but in 2010-14, at least for me, Php 50 can buy you an entire lunch meal in school.
ILY ILY is a multi-genre song by Alamat with the melody originally from a Hiligaynon folk lullaby "Ili Ili tulog Anay". I believe the song itself talks a lot about the sacrifices OFW parents make for the financial security and comfort of their children back in the motherland (Philippines). And the subsequent emotional consequences and psychological effects these have on the family. The irony of ILY ILY also doubles as "i love you, i love you" is not lost on me.
Starting off strong! "Ano ba?? Ganyan ka na lang pala!" -very common scolding terms, especially from a older guardian or parental figures.
"Hindi ka ba nag-iisip na may naghihirap doon..." - kind of guilt-tripping the child for crying, being angry, or generally just not feeling happy by bringing up their working parents (likely OFWs) and their sacrifices; generally an unhealthy way of soothing someone's frustrations over neglect or dissatisfaction.
I love how money comes out of the cake. Usually another way to soothe their children, is by bringing in more money, for more comfort. But that doesn't phase Lyca (the female singer).
presents for the children... again, to make up for not being their for their birthday or whatever missed celebrations (especially during formative years of their childhood)
I'm trying to figure out which specific Filipino festival this is refering to. I know a few filo street festivals that reenact the Passion of Christ (ex. Sinulog, Moriones, Salibatbat, etc.) which sometimes includes self-whipping, which the crown, candles, and ropes here are symbolizing.
The lyrics are so on point,
Gabi-gabi at umaga (every night, and every day) Pangungulila ang dama (feeling bereaved, "ulila"="orphan", which is on theme) Hihintayin ang araw na (waiting for the day) Tayo'y magsasama-sama ([where] we all get together)
This is supposed to remind you of the sacrifices people make for love.
^^^Can someone tell me what these are referencing? I feel like this is supposed to be something from a filipino film or something similar, but I'm blanking on where it might be.
I love the direct parallel of the filipino kid having a yaya (maid/ domestic helper) back home while the parent is the housekeeper in a different country. Just *chefs kiss* GENIUS!!🤌🤌
the lyrics shows how much the child/children cares about their parents. in the midst of happiness and abundance around Lyca, she can't help but miss her mom and dad.
Island Maid - from a quick online search, it's a domestic helper agency in Singapore. Upon looking into their website, they hire Filipino workers trained under Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). Beside R-Ji is a balikbayan box, large cardbord boxes used to deliver souvenirs, gifts, clothes, furniture, and other things back to the country.
The lyrics now talk about how the child (R-Ji) aspires one day to be the one to work so they can bring their parents back home. (And, in a way, isn't that a tragic cycle of poverty and capitalism? Parents have to work away to bring money and food home, and the child has to work in order to bring their parents back home.)
Very powerful imagery. The waste, the anger, the sadness, the loneliness, while surrounded by presents, money, comfort.
Sacrifices, all in the name of family and love.
I love this part. From what I've gathered, in here, Taneo talks (in Ilokano) to the tone of an eldest sibling, about how he's going to take care [of you] for now. The lyrics shift the emotional burden of parenting to a fellow child, with the parents abroad and likely, unavailable. He throws paper airplanes made of paper money out the window while an airplane (parents?) flies in the back. Lost childhood maybe?
Another strong imagery. Money in a kaldero (used to cook food, usually rice, stew, and other filipino cuisine) while everyone is situated in a Boodle Fight (eating tradition where food is served on top of banana leaves).
"they've been gone too long so I'll be your Dad and Mom for now", again referencing about the physical and emotional unavailability of parents that older siblings or family members have to take on to fill that gap.
"'Nang, 'tang, muli na kayu" (Mom, dad, please go home)
At the emotional crux of the song, the lines said over the "telephone" sound is so poignant. They need their parents to go home. But instead...
...All they got were more Balikbayan boxes.
...and all they can do is fight over who gets them. Empty boxes. empty gifts of love. God, I love this song. Stream ILY ILY.

I'm really, really enjoying the Philippines! The weather could be cooler and less humid but the people are so kind, especially my in-laws, food that meets my level of kashrut is much easier to find than I'd expected, and there are so many cool things to do/see.
We're only staying in one city this trip because the important thing is for my fiancée to be with her family, not for her to show me tourist sites. But we've done a lot of sightseeing here with her family!
I bought some beautiful souvenirs for myself and my friends/family too. My favourite is definitely this beautiful wood chest with mother of pearl inlay. There's a big one in my hotel that I walk by going to my hotel room every day and I admire it every time I go by, so when I saw mini ones (jewelry box sized) at a market I had to get one. I'd love to get a big one someday but they're expensive and getting it to Canada would cost even more!
My fiancée bought me beautiful South Sea pearl earrings which I'm scared to wear because they're so pretty.
Next week we're going to buy some wall art for our apartment. We leave Thursday morning.
This weekend we're going to the beach!!!!!

Mairimashita! Iruma-kun s2 ep19
Nice! It’s a Clara-centric episode with some bonus Azz trying to impress Iruma! I mean I don’t have anything against Ameri and I’m happy she got lots of moments with our protagonist but I just want Azz and Clara to get their chance, too you know?
This episode is fun and cute! Plus there are songs in it, too since it’s about Clara’s family.
Clara’s house! Iruma and Azz are staying over for a while after what happened in the last episode. The Valac residence is located at Gaya-Gaya Forest where lots of strange creatures and plants live! According to Clara, her family knows the place really well.
And I just realized that this is the first time the boys got to visit Clara. It’s just they’ve shown us Clara’s family and this house a lot that it slipped my mind that to Iruma and Azz, this is the first time they’d be seeing it.
The typical welcome in the Valac home! They did chants, too weirding out the boys especially Azz. Urara isn’t home again this time so he’s represented by a drawing. I wonder which school he’s in since it seems theirs isn’t on vacation like Babyls.
Clara’s mom tells the boys to relax and feel at home. She says she’s happy because Clara brought friends home for the first time (and sorta mentions this is a first overall for their family or something). In a way that’s kinda sad that it either meant not many people wanted or thought to visit or Clara just didn’t have anyone to invite before Iruma and Azz.
On the other hand, this is almost the same reaction my own family has whenever I brought home some classmates to do school projects. I don’t have irl friends lol so they’re like “Big sis has friends?!” because my classmates would introduce themselves as friends instead of just classmates.
Iruma and Azz give Clara’s mom some souvenirs from the Walter Park trip as a present (I dunno about everywhere else but this is a Japanese thing if I remember correctly and people here in the Philippines do it to whenever they visit sometimes). Iruma gives a small box of sweets and Azz gives them a huge replica of Walter Park's castle made out of chocolate. The kids immediately crowd at Azz for the chocolate until told to calm down.
I could understand them though. My siblings and I too would do the same cause that seriously looks cool and also it’s chocolate. We could devour that in a few days.
After being let in the house, Clara’s brothers immediately asked the boys which one is their sister’s boyfriend which freaked them out. The brothers think that Azz would be a good catch (cause he is with being good-looking, rich, smart and popular. They don’t even have to know all these things cause Azz just looks it) but remembers that their sister is already interested in a guy named-
Clara promptly cuts them off and drags them away.
We get some glimpses of what’s inside the Valac house and see a lot of strange-looking objects. Clara’s mom explains that those are brought home by her adventurer husband and that they came from those trips.
I wonder what kind of adventures and if any of the items are magical or cursed. I mean this is the Demon World so it’s possible.
The mom finally brings out a photo album! She happily shows the boys Clara’s baby pictures. Azz notes how baby Clara looks like her own baby siblings. The resemblance isn't just with looks but with personality as well! Clara is embarrassed of course but Iruma says the photos are cute which made Clara happy.
That said, she’s still embarrassed letting Iruma see the photos and takes the album away. Her mom immediately brings out another one! In an attempt to stop her mom from embarrassing her any further, she reminds them that it’s shopping day.
Iruma, upon hearing it’s time to buy food, says that he’s hungry so perfect timing. Clara and Azz, upon hearing that Iruma is hungry decides they’d make the food for him. It seems we might get shokugeki part 2!
The idea of shopping at the forest baffled Iruma and Azz as they didn’t think there’s any supermarket here. Clara and her family explain that the so-called “supermarket” is actually what the entire forest basically is. They could get fresh produce from here and there’s so many kinds! The entire family, along with Iruma and Azz go “shopping” and are all armed with baskets to fill.
A song number! As expected from the Valac family lol. I knew there’d be one. The song explains the stuff they could get in the forest and how the place is akin to an actual supermarket. There are many types of food and some which looks like regular food could be found in the unlikeliest of places. I mean, they get their meat from trees. But it’s also dangerous in here so they have to be careful.
When shopping is done, Azz and Clara compare the stuff they got which they’d use for their food battle. Apparently, the stuff Azz got which looks good are actually terrible tasting compared to the weird ones Clara had gotten.
Clara’s mom tells them that there is a creature in the forest that is called Shabu-Shabu which is known as the “Ultimate Ingredient”. It could be found in the Cave of Rewards which is shown in the map up there. Iruma thinks it must be delicious and so Clara and Azz decided they’re gonna get it for him.
The main trio plus Clara’s brothers all go to the cave (Clara’s mom went home cause the babies are asleep) to find this creature. The brothers tell Iruma and Azz that they should stay back as they think they shouldn’t trouble the guests. Clara immediately tells them that Iruma is actually pretty strong as he’s the Hero of Walter Park after all (Azz agrees). Iruma downplays this and says everyone did their best so he’s not the only strong one.
The brothers are amazed and asked Azz what he did at the Walter Park incident. Azz remembers what had happened with his fight alongside Sabnock and how they had to retreat and with this, he wasn’t able to give them an answer.
The Shabu-Shabu appears! It looks like a chimera composed of shark, pig and lots of vegetables - the complete meal! That's why it's called Ultimate Ingredient lol. Almost everything you’d need in the kitchen all in one large and dangerous package. It even has seaweed mustache. XD
Their prey is also a predator and so the Shabu-Shabu captures Clara’s brothers using his mustaches in order to eat them. Azz tries hitting it with his fireball but it kept deflecting it with a Chinese wok lol. With that not working, Clara uses all the ingredients she got from their shopping trip in order to distract the creature. Once it was busy eating, Azz cuts off the mustaches and frees the brothers.
Azz thinks of what to do next. He wants to defeat this creature for Iruma and it doesn’t have any hostages anymore so he’s free to try but he knows it’s too strong. He remembers the stuff Sabnock told him at the park and decided it’s best to just retreat for now. He summons his familiar to help them escape but he thinks to himself that he’d try and get stronger after this.
As they were leaving, Clara’s mom arrives and instant KOs the Shabu-Shabu for what it did to her kids. The kids are of course, surprised by this.
I’m happy they’re still acknowledging that adults are stronger than the kids. Most other shounen anime would go with the “these kids are special and they could totally win this without much proper training” but this one decided to be a bit on the realistic side. Sure the kids aren’t strong yet but they do realize this themselves one way or another and strive to be better and stronger. If they continue trying to grow then they’d end up really strong, too. It would be fun to see that development especially for the kids of the Abnormal Class who didn’t really think much of themselves before as they’d prove to others and themselves that they are capable of amazing things.
They were able to go home safely and Clara’s mom cooks while Clara watches and Azz takes notes. Oh and they did use the Shabu-Shabu as it’s shown that it’s skull is outside the house haha. Iruma was able to eat a ton of food!
The day ends and it was time for bed. They were tired after the long day so they declines Clara’s invite for a pillow fight. Clara then offered to do a sleeping ritual to them which is something she does for her siblings which always works. They had to lay their heads on her lap though which they immediately decline for obvious reasons. Clara doesn’t pick up on this and pulls Azz down to lay on her lap and he quickly falls asleep in the middle of complaining. Iruma gets pulls down, too and Clara starts singing a lullaby. Her singing sounded really good, too! Iruma falls asleep to this and Clara bids them good night.
Aren’t they cute? It looks so sweet.
The next morning, the Valac family plus Iruma and Azz went out to gather food for their breakfast. While the trio is getting vegetables, Clara’s mom takes a photo to put on another album about her daughter. It’s so cute!
Also, Azz who was weirded out by the events of the day before seems more comfortable now and is happily participating in the stuff the Valac family does.
Overall it was a peaceful time. And then we get this cliffhanger showing us that Ameri’s dad is on his way to the Valac residence for unspecified reasons.
---
That episode was really fun! Its more slice-of-life-y becoming the sort of breather episode after the previously intense battle heavy arc. It also lets us know more about Clara’s family and about Clara herself. I hope Asmodeus gets an episode like this, too.
Despite the episode being a bit more on the relaxing side, it has moments that continues Azz’s development that was happening in the previous episodes. He did take to heart the stuff Sabnock says and decides to be better. I think it’s a fun cycle that Sabnock, the self-proclaimed rival of Iruma, learned to become a better person cause of Iruma himself and taught this same lesson to Asmodeus, the self-proclaimed greatest ally of Iruma. Many shounen anime rivalries like this end up with the person learning the lesson because of their rival to be a bit bitter about it but here, they actually really appreciate it and don’t hold any grudges. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate how it’s done in other stories. All I’m saying is that seeing something different from time-to-time can be nice, too. It shakes things up a little.
I did feel a little bad when Azz couldn’t give an answer when the brothers asked him what he did during the attack on Walter Park, though. But he actually thought about it and didn’t try to lie or anything. He admitted he needed to get stronger and promises himself that he absolutely will.
I went “Aww~!” at the many heartwarming moments in this episode especially when it came to Clara’s mom. Seeing the phot album near the end made me smile so much. The scene where Clara sings to her friends is really nice and sweet, too.
The previews show that the next episode would be Ameri-centric again. This anime has so many ships revolving Iruma that it makes me wonder if this could count as a harem anime (but since that’s not exactly the overall focus of the story, it doesn’t seem like it and I only remember when the show hints that the girls like Iruma). So far Iruma has got Ameri, Clara, Kerori, and Eiko who has blatant crushes on him (with 3 out of 4 admitting it to themselves). If you’re wearing shipping goggles then there’s also Asmodeus and Kiriwo-senpai. But the one who gets the most focus when it comes to romantic development is Ameri. She gets moments and sometimes episodes that gives a spotlight to her feeling for Iruma (and there are moments where Iruma looks like he’s close to feeling the same way).
I’m wondering if this means Ameri would be the official love interest. Like, I guess it makes sense with all the development and I don’t hate it but still... it kinda makes me sad that the ships I do support for Iruma are shot down already haha. Ameri fans are so lucky! I wish Clara and Azz are given this much fighting chance, too cause so far, Iruma only thinks of them as friends.
Alright, this has gone on too long. Thanks for reading!

Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef, Australia
Day 71/72 – Hong Kong → Manilla → Cairns
In the evening I took the MTR out to Hong Kong’s airport, boarding my flight with Philippines Air, bound for Cairns, Australia. In the scramble of re-routing my flights over the previous days, I was scheduled to take a red-eye with an overnight layover in Manila. As someone who usually can’t sleep a wink on an airplane, this leg of my journey was particularly fatiguing. Fortunately, my first flight was not without a silver lining, as I was in for a pleasant surprise once our on-board dinner was served. Simply put, Philippines Air easily had the best plane food I had ever experienced: perfectly seasoned chicken adobo with a hearty side of rice.
Navigating through the terminals of Manila Airport during the wee hours of the morning, I eventually found my transfer gate to Cairns and tiredly plopped myself in a corner, curling up next to my pack. In the hours that followed, I dazedly realized that the secondary screening next to my gate was actually for Quarantine purposes – as there were no bathrooms, water fountains or shops in the vicinity. Unfortunately, this also meant I was not even allowed to bring water with me onto my next flight! This was certainly an eye-opening realization for me, as I could see just how seriously Australia takes biosecurity to protect their unique agriculture and wildlife.
After nine hours in air on my second flight, we gradually began our descent into Cairns, located on the Northeastern coast of Australia. It was a beautiful bluebird morning, with patches of dark coral reef occasionally visible beneath the shimmering ocean below. Descending the air stairs onto the tarmac, I was immediately hit by a powerful wave of heat. Although I had travelled to Cairns with my family well over a decade earlier, the distant memory of intense heat and humidity was quickly brought to the forefront, as I breathed in the thick, tropical air of Queensland.
Having secured my ETA Visa in advance, my Canadian Passport allowed me to easily pass through the electronic gate in the small airport. Collecting my pack quickly at the baggage carousel, I was heartened by the thought of finding a bed to sleep in shortly. And as my luck would have it – a customs official thought otherwise. At the time, I did not realize how suspicious a single backpacker travelling from Asia was – but in my following weeks in Aus, I heard countless stories of backpackers being connected with drug trafficking through countries such as Indonesia and the Philippines. Over the following hour, the customs agent thoroughly examined each item in my pack – swabbing everything from my toothbrush to flip-flops to test for trace amounts of cocaine and other drugs. Although I had nothing to hide, the entire process still came with a certain amount of apprehension, as I had heard stories of drugs and contraband being planted in luggage. After finally receiving the all clear, the customs official waved me on my way, with a comical parting comment: “you have to be the neatest backpacker I’ve ever seen!”, referring to my many packing cubes and vacuum packs. With a tired chuckle, I trudged out of the airport, briefly stopping to pick up a new SIM card on my way to catch the airport shuttle into town.
Travellers Oasis
Blasting A/C and country music, the shuttle cruised along a series of palm-lined boulevards and roundabouts leading into Cairns. After more than 24-hours in transit, I was thrilled to finally arrive at Travellers Oasis, a charming, family run hostel a short walk from the city centre. This hostel was easily a top favourite from my entire trip. I was originally a bit concerned about staying in hostels in Australia, as I knew that Aus had a younger backpacker scene compared to other places I had travelled. This was forgotten immediately as I was welcomed into the hostel’s laidback, tropical oasis, and was met with a mix of travellers of all ages. After a much needed power nap, Gabriel, the hostel owner, walked me through all of my options for open-water certifications in the Great Barrier Reef. I was thrilled that there was a last minute spot on one of the “liveaboard” boats, and booked a 3-day, 2-night open water certification with Reef Encounter, starting a few days later.
I spent the late afternoon wandering the palm-lined boulevards of Cairns, shopping for more appropriate clothes to match Queensland’s overpowering humidity. Sweaty and dusty after a long day, I plunged into the hostel pool in the evening, sharing cold beers and trading Australia tips with fellow visitors from Switzerland, Canada, Britain and the US. Gabriel, the hostel owner, and his daughter Poppy had organized a delicious pizza dinner for us, which we ate family style – gathered around wooden tables under the tropical foliage. Full and very tired – I crashed shortly afterwards, but not before loading the air conditioning machine in my room with all my spare change (The only drawback of the hostel – no free A/C!)
Day 73 – Cairns
Sleeping in and shaking off my jet-lag, I fixed myself breakfast and set myself up at a shady poolside table for the day, gearing up for a crash course in scuba diving! After signing myself up for my open water certification the previous day, I had been given a thick manual to read, along with test questions to respond to as I worked through the course. I found the material surprisingly challenging, as there was a substantial amount of physics and biology involved – taking me back to my undergrad at Western! As I went through the course, I took regular breaks to cool off the pool, and Facetimed a few friends and family back home.
After finishing the scuba coursework in the late afternoon, I met up with a Dutch and English girl, and we headed out into the town to explore. Walking towards the wharf as the evening fell, we began to hear the high-pitched screeches from a massive colony of fruit bats, who were just beginning to wake up as the sun was setting. Dangling from trees near the city centre, these large, black “megabats” have a wingspan of up to 1.6 metres!
We continued onwards to the Cairns Night Market, an open-air bazaar with local goods for sale, Australian food products, souvenirs and food stalls with cuisine from all over the world. A much more relaxed night market compared to the souks of Morocco and food alleys in China, we meandered the stalls and checked out the range of products for sale. Leaving the market behind, we strolled along the nearby wharf, lined with dark palms swaying in the balmy ocean breeze. Nearing the ocean, I was immediately struck by the number of large, yellow signs, warning of the dangers of swimming due to the large number of saltwater crocodiles, or “Salties” which inhabit the area. In addition to crocodiles, these warm ocean waters are also home to a variety of jellyfish known as “stingers”, including large box jellyfish and the tiny Irukandji jellyfish, both of which are considered to be among the world’s most venomous species. Since it is far too risky to swim off the picturesque beaches of the town (and a such a shame, at that!) a large, manmade lagoon has been built next to the ocean - for a croc and jellyfish free swimming option!
The girls and I ended our evening at a lively Cantina in town, sharing a few pitchers of Sangria on the patio, and swapping stories from respective countries late into the night.
Day 74-76 – The Reef
I packed a small bag in the morning, leaving my pack behind at the hostel as I set out towards Marlin Wharf, the busy departure point for snorkeling and scuba diving trips in the Great Barrier Reef. Navigating through crowds of day-trippers, I located the small catamaran which would transport me to the Reef Encounter, my floating home for the next three days. As we cast off from port, the humidity and heat gradually eased off as we ventured further into the coral sea.
My home for the next three days!
Arriving aboard the Reef Encounter, I was shown to my small portside cabin, which I was sharing with Poppy (the hostel owner’s daughter – who happened to be taking her open water certification at the same time!). After a delicious lunch and thorough orientation the boat’s safety procedures, I was introduced to Anna and Nick, our open water instructors, and Elmira, a Russian teacher who was taking the course with me. Anna and Nick, a couple from Spain and Germany (respectively), wasted no time in suiting us up in full scuba gear, complete with buoyancy compensators (BCDs), weight belts, an oxygen tank, regulators, masks, and flippers. We were also fitted in bright blue, Lycra stinger suits – certainly no fashion statement, but necessary protection against the lethal jellyfish and fierce sun of Northern Australia. After running us through equipment set up and safety checks with our diving partner, Anna and Nick had us get in the water, rolling off the back of the boat in our inflated BCDs!
A few fantastic underwater snapshots - courtesy of our on-board photographer!
The next three days were simply magical, and were my favourite days of travel up until that point. We were completely immersed into a spectacular world of colour and marine life, and completed 10 dives in total, some at the crack of dawn, and one night dive!It was definitely hard work, as Anna and Nick put us through our paces, practicing countless essential skills from controlled descent/ascent, equalizing our ears, underwater emergency drills, breath control, energy conservation and oxygen monitoring.
Spotting a hiding cuttlefish in the reef
As we became more and more comfortable in the water, it became easier to relax and appreciate the breathtaking underwater landscape around us. From swimming next to technicolour cliffs of swaying coral, drifting past giant sea turtles, and swimming next to hunting reef sharks and giant trevallys (during a night swim!) – there are no words I could use to fully describe this astounding wonder of the natural world. The distortion of images and sounds deep in the ocean was also fascinating – a fish biting a piece of coral feet away sounded as loud as someone crunching on cereal next to my ear! I also kept bumping into things - my depth perception questionable now that I was 9 meters underwater.
During our time onboard, The Reef Endeavour took us to several different dive sites scattered around the Outer Barrier Reef, including Norman, Saxon and Hastings Reef. As we moved between the many dive sites, Elmira and I practiced filling out our logbooks, tracking our maximum depth, bottom time, water conditions, and calculating our residual nitrogen levels using dive tables. An added benefit of staying overnight on a liveaboard boat is that we could begin diving as early as 7am – plunging into the crystal clear water long before any other day trips had set out from Cairns. These early dives were equally captivating as those at night, as we could see the reef waking up – coral opening and tilting towards the morning sun above, and sleeping reef sharks drifting along the sandy ocean floor. Fascinating fact about sleeping sharks – by sleeping in moving tidal currents, water naturally flows through their gills, allowing them to breathe when asleep!
After three perfect days, I completed my last dive with Anna and Nick, wrote my open water certification test, and officially received my Open Water Diving Certification through Scuba Schools International (SSI)! The full-immersion into the diving program allowed me to learn quickly and improve after every dive, and during my time on the boat, I would constantly catch myself thinking - why didn’t I do this 10 years ago?!
On my final day of diving, I met a fellow scuba diver named Carlos, a medical resident on placement from Barcelona. As we returned to the mainland, I joined him and his 3 Spanish friends for dinner and beers in Cairns, where we tried crocodile and kangaroo (which were delicious, for the record!). After comically trying to recall my high school Spanish for a few hours, my newfound friends and I parted ways just as heavy drops of rain began to fall. Sprinting back to my hostel in the middle of a pounding tropical thunderstorm, I arrived drenched – but happy and exhilarated.
Trying out local cuisine - including crocodile and kangaroo!

BACKSTREETS BACKK!!!!!
for those who are reading this that care, the Backstreet Boys is coming back to the Philippines for the DNA world tour.
Around three years ago in October 2019, I went to my very first concert after doing a school UN and travelled all the way to Manila to see the backstreet boys. The anniversary of that day was just a few days ago and now in February 2023, they are coming back after the pandemic stalled their tour.
Now i will be begging my mum to take me again and hope (with enough money) to get to what mr aj mclean calls the pe pe hole, which is in the around the front, rounded by a walk way they go around on.
I am in complete favor of getting in those seats as i remember from the last experience, two of the members (aj and kevin) did their costume change on stage, they got into a box of course but they threw their used clothing to the crowd. This sounds disgusting in some degree but i remember thoroughly enjoying the night., and to get a souvenir that wasnt bought, would have been worth the thousands of bucks worth of ticket inevitable getting released .
My mum introduced me into their group and i have been all the more grateful.
I wish we have the funds, i really hope so and im sorry for the rant if this ever lands on your dash

IDENTITY BOX PROJECT! October 9, 2018
I am usually perceived as a quiet person because I keep to myself most of the time. I can be seen as angry or anxious as Rick and Morty’s facial expressions vividly show. I am also see as stand offish as I can be reserved when I feel awkward or out of place.
These adjectives may be true at times but that is not all there is to me.
I grew up around introverted activities because my parents were too busy when I was a child to place me in an activity that requires communicating and working with others. I grew up watching anime and studio ghibli films that launched my interest in writing stories and doodling.
I also play the ukulele, sing, and play the keyboard. I do not play as much as I would like to because I am so busy with school but in the future, I would like to learn the bass or drums. My favorite song to play on the piano is Oh Darling by The Beatles.
Another trait that may appear to be unexpected is that I tend to be impulsive with my decisions because of my indecisiveness combined with anxiety. My hairbrush represents the times I decided to cut my own hair because I was going through a rough time in high school. I went from cutting my own layers, trying to even it out for about 2 years, shaving an undercut and cutting my own bangs.
I cherish my family and friends, they have taught me to put all my effort in creating fulfilling relationships with others while maintaining integrity and honesty to myself because I tend to change my personality depending on who I am with.
I put my religious bracelets in there to remind me of my roots. I grew up catholic and although I am not religious anymore, it is a reminder to always have faith in my family and myself.
I also have this religious necklace that is reminder of my family back home in the Philippines. I value the tight community they have there, it’s not common for people to isolate themselves like in California. They eat breakfast and dinner together as a family and I want to bring that sense of belonging and community here.
Lastly, is my turtle keychain. I love turtles, I used to have two when I was a child. The back of the keychain says the Philippines because I bought it as a souvenir. It is a symbol of my roots and a remembrance of that vacation, which I grew the most.

🍭Exploring Dessert Museum + Vlog
I got to explore the sweetest and tastiest museum in the Philippines - The Dessert Museum. The museum as they described is an “8 mouthwatering rooms of sugar-filled happiness. This is the only museum you’ll ever slide into! Follow our Candy Rabbits through our Donut Hole and slip down our sprinkle slide. Choose your path in our Candy Cane Groves or go Cotton Candy Picking in our sweetened forest.”
The museum is located at Unit 124, 126, 127a, S Maison, Coral Way, Conrad Hotel Manila, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. It is open starting from 10 in the morning until 10 in the evening. Last tickets are sold at 8pm.
The trip going to Dessert Museum was very spontaneous. My friends and I were originally planning to just have lunch, watch a movie, and visit the National Museum of Natural History. Unfortunately, it was closed that day thus we decided to go to the Dessert Museum out of our frustration to visit a museum.
Before entering the museum, a blue strap was given equivalent to an entrance ticket. The strap was also needed to get a free dessert per area/room. Each strap were scanned once you get the small treat.
Ticket prices are Php799 for walk-ins and if you booked online, tickets are sold for Php699 only.
We were given 15 minutes for each room to explore and have those instagrammable photos! A total of 2 hours were allotted for the whole museum.
A guide was assigned per group to tour us around the whole museum. Photographers were also on standby if ever you would want to have your photos professionally taken and be printed afterwards as souvenirs.
1. Donut Room
The first room was the Donut Room. It is a room with hanging donuts just like the one in The Simpsons! It also has a wall with some facts about the donuts industry. For this room, we received a granola bar as the first dessert in this museum.
2. Marshmallow Room
Second room was filled marshmallows! Thousands of marshmallows were hanging from the ceiling. I really just wish those were edible! To those marshmallow addicts, marshmallows doesn’t have fats!
Being in the marshmallow room means having a giant marshmallow as freebie! Coating for the marshmallow has two choices during that time - Vanilla or Strawberry! And of course, as a strawberry lover, I chose the strawberry flavor. The dip is the same flavor as Mcdonald’s strawberry sundae dip cone.
3. Naught or Nice Room/Candy Cane Room
Upon entering the room, you would see that it is divided into a pink and blue area.
There is also an area with “bubble gum” or “candy” like jars where you could have your Instragrammable photo.
In the same room, there is an area with surrounding heart boxes. I think those were supposedly be chocolate heart-shaped boxes.
4. Ice Cream Room
The ice cream room! One of my favorite room since it has those plastic balls just like in playgrounds.
We were given options for the ice cream flavor, either Mango or Avocado. For my ice cream, I chose the Avocado flavored one.
5. Bubblegum Room
I wasn’t able to take photos for this room. As I remembered, this room has a big balloon like inflatable that you can go inside.
6. Gummy Bear Room
I also love this room since it has big gummy bears! Who wouldn’t want to hug a gummy bear?!
The room also has 3 small bathtubs where you could take a photo in it too. Balloons and plastic balls were also scattered in the area.
A unicorn cookie was given as a treat for this room. Though, I was expecting it would be some gummy bears treat.
7. Cotton Candy Room
Second to the last room is the cotton candy room. This area made me feel I am in a cotton candy land with its life-sized cotton candies and trees made from it.
8. Cake Pops Room
Last room is the Cake Pops room. It has an area with giant cake pops which you can sit or stand on it. It also has an area where you can play basketball with those round stuffed toys they have.
Overall, the Dessert Museum is a nice place to visit and try, however, I think the price for entering it is not that worth it. Once is enough to be able to see what the Dessert Museum has to offer.
Below is a vlog to show what’s inside the museum.

Until the next entry, conquering the within with happy thoughts! ✴️
