Everything You Need to Know About the Chulgiri Trek
Tumblr media
Chulgiri jain temple is surrounded by the Aravalli range, which gives you a beautiful and captivating view from the top of the hill. It is a proper blend of adventure, beautiful nature, and religiosity. Chulgiri Trek Hill is one of the most attractive places in Jaipur. Jains particularly regard Chulgiri as one of the holiest and most well-known locations in the world because a stunning white-marbled Jain temple sits perched atop the hill. Its most attractive thing is its calm nature, which gives you a soothing feeling.
Chulgiri Jain Temple
Tumblr media
In 1953, Acharya Shri Desh Bhushan Ji founded the Chulgiri Jain temple. When he reached this place, seeking peace to engage in serious meditation, and because of the area’s peace and quiet, he ultimately chose to conduct soul-searching. Following that, he constructed the “Chulgiri” Jain temple.
About Chulgiri Hills
Nestled in the Aravalli hills, next to the Ghat Ki Guni tunnel, lies the temple dedicated to Chulgiri. This is the peak of the Chulgiri trek Mountains. There are a thousand steps leading up to the temple. In 1966, sculptors created three white stone statues representing Shree Parshavnath, the Tirthankars, and Neminath. During renovations, installers added 24 additional Tirthankars and a water tank to collect prayer water. Then, in 1982, builders erected a 65-foot dome and one of Mahaveer Swami’s tallest statues, standing around 21 feet tall and carved from a single piece of white stone. Craftsmen use white marble to create this stunning temple, which features exquisite and unique decorations.
Chulgiri temple has diverse flora and fauna, as well as many plants, animals, and birds. Indrajeet and Kumbhakaran are believed to have prayed and meditated here in ancient times. It is a unique and historic palace if you follow Jainism. This temple is one of the famous sightseeing places in Jaipur, providing you with a magnificent view from the top. The Aravali ranges encircling the temple make it more beautiful. The Jain Chulgiri temple is a digambara shrine. Walking up to the temple is quite thrilling.

When is a Llama not a Llama?
For you regular followers of my twaddle you will remember that MM has had good reason to give me grief over my mistakes regarding national monuments in the past. Who could forget my inability to distinguish between a Temple and a Palace in Bangkok or, even worse, a priceless Japanese Bridge and roadworks in Hoi An in Vietnam. On this occasion I'm happy to report that the cock up is not mine for a change. But more of that later.
Today we visited the old town of Lima with our guide, Mabel - a good Inca name I thought! It turned out that we had her all to ourselves. She said it was because it's early in the season and we were her only bookings. I think that maybe the other 10 had heard that MM was in town. Bad news travels fast over here and, although they apparently have tuk tuks in some areas, we haven't seen hide nor hair of any. Her exploits in India in 2015 have gone down in tuk tuk folklore and have clearly travelled across the globe in the intervening years.
I digress. Mabel arrived bang on 9am and off we went to the old town where we were dropped off next to The Bolivar hotel, a beautiful but decaying building. Everyone who was anyone has stayed here from Kennedy to Mick Jagger. The hotel sits looking over the square that contains a statue in recognition of the Argentinian general (Jose de Saint Martin) who secured Peru independence in 1821. Interestingly, at that time only 10% of Peruvians wanted independence, 90% wanted to stay under Spanish rule! (So Jose was the equivalent to Nicola Sturgeon!). However, the rest of South America wanted Spain out so they united to fight the Spanish and Peruvian armies. Another couple of interesting facts that transpired from looking at the statue. On any statue of a man (or woman) on a horse if the horse has the 2 front legs in the air, then the rider died in battle. If only one leg is lifted (as in this case) the rider did not die in battle. However, if all 4 legs are grounded the the rider was never in a battle. Also, for statues of the virgin Mary, if she has her hands together, then it's before she was a mother, if her arms are open, then she's given birth to Jesus. Fascinating! When you see the photo's you will see a picture of the angel of liberty on the front of the statue of our friend Jose with a tiny Llama on her head. You may wonder why this is. Fortunately for you, I am here to explain as it is quite unusual. Although this is a Peruvian statue, it was commissioned in Spain. In Spanish “Llamas" has several meanings. It can mean Llama the animal, flame or name. So the sculptor was asked to provide a "statue of the angel of liberty with a llamas (name) above". So, when is a llamas not a llamas? Crazy.
It really was an interesting tour and Mabel really knew her history. I would strongly recommend it if you visit Lima.
We also saw the sun for the first time today. Apparently, the Peruvians nickname for Lima is "the donkeys belly" because it's always grey here. However, it hardly ever rains either. They occasionally get drizzle but maybe only 2mm of rain a year.
I'm glad we've spent a couple of days here. It was more interesting than I thought it would be and we've learnt quite a lot.
Tomorrow we fly up to Cuzco and find out how badly we'll suffer from altitude sickness!

8 Most Famous Festivals in India
Tumblr media
India is known for its multitude of festivals and the peaceful coexistence of people from different religious backgrounds. These festivals are a true representation of India's rich cultural heritage and traditions. There are several festivals and celebrations. While there are celebrations throughout the year, the country is at its most colorful from October to January. Every religion and community in India practice their own culture and enjoy it to the fullest. India celebrates holidays according to state, religion, and society. Festivals in India are never ending and every day is something to celebrate.
Diwali
The nation commemorates Lord Rama's homecoming to Ayodhya after a 14-year exile by lighting diyas, making rangolis, adorning homes, donning new garments, giving out presents, and setting off fireworks. People also revere Lord Ganesha, who represents moral beginnings, and Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of riches and prosperity. In West Bengal and Odisha, it is referred to as Kali Puja. It is known as Bandi Chor Diwas in Sikhism, and around this time, worshippers light the Golden Temple of Amritsar and enjoy fireworks displays. All around the nation, Diwali melas are organized. In Karnataka, there is a five-day celebration, which can be witnessed during India tours. In the Braj region, Diwali is devoted to Lord Krishna, and as a result, they worship Govardhan Mountain. There is a lot of fervor and spectacle around the Festival of Lights.
Republic Day
India became a republic on January 26, 1950, when the Indian Constitution went into effect. Since then, Indians have proudly celebrated the national holiday on January 26 each year. The festivities take the form of ceremonial marches at Rajpath in front of the Indian President and other foreign dignitaries. Numerous thousands of people come to the venue to watch the spectacle showcasing the nation's unity and cultural diversity. You need to register for this event from government websites during your India tour packages.
Holi
The festival of colors is the friendliest holiday in the nation. The night before Holi is Holika Dahan, when all negativity is burned in a bonfire. People play with organic colors while grooving to music on the main day. The festival's signature dishes include Gujiya, Mathri, and Thandai. In the Mathura district of Bhaj, Lathmar Holi is observed. Sticks were used by women to amusingly beat their husbands' shields. Offerings are made to Kamadeva, the Hindu god of love, throughout the south.  In Gujarat's coastal city of Dwarka, the event is observed at the Dwarkadheesh Temple. It is celebrated as the holiday of reconciliation and fresh starts.
Rath Yatra, Puri, Orissa
The largest celebration observed in Puri is the Rath Yatra. In Puri's primary Jagannath temple, the deities Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra are carried away on the heavenly wheel and placed in their corresponding chariots. The chariots are then driven up to the Gundicha Temple's grand avenue. Participants in this Yatra number in the thousands. This Yatra is also shown live on foreign channels.
Krishna Janmashtami
The birth of Lord Krishna is commemorated each year by a Hindu event. The holiday is observed differently in each state. The traditional Krishna play, Rasa Lila, is performed throughout the states of Gujarat, Manipur, Assam, Rajasthan, and Mathura. The Dahi Handi festival is held in Mumbai, Pune, and Gujarat, during which groups construct human pyramids to reach a yogurt pot that is suspended at a specific height. In Gujarat, traditional dances are presented at the temples. Farmers in Gujarat's Kutch region paint bullock carriages with Krishna statues to perform pageants. People participate in devotional songs and celebrate the holiday in North East and South India, respectively. The most important Indian festivals are observed in Mathura, Vrindavan, and ISKCON.
Durga Pooja
The festival honors Goddess Durga's victory over Mahishasura and the triumph of good over evil. In the eastern and north-eastern states of India, it is celebrated over a period of ten days and is a significant social occasion. The believers take pleasure in the lengthy and intricate procedures. You are surrounded by colorful streets, pandals, bhajans, and dazzling lights throughout the festival season. Additionally, to commemorate Maa Durga's victory over the buffalo demon, actual animal sacrifices are made at the temples of West Bengal, Odisha, and Assam. In Karnataka, it is known as Mysore Dasara. The scheduled dates could change.
Rann Utsav, Kutch, Gujrat
Visitors are cordially welcomed in the White Desert. The celebration continues until February. The vibrant fairs at the river's edge enhance people's spirits with a festive spirit. There are activities like horseback riding, camel riding, bird watching, traditional dances, various games, giant chess, paramotoring, and net cricket, to name a few. The festivals in India offer guests an opportunity to get a taste of the many customs and friendliness of the Kutchi people. Everyone enjoys looking at white sand that has colorful ornaments.
Hornbill Festival, Nagaland
The Hornbill Festival, often known as the Festival of Festivals, takes place annually from December 1–7. a distinctive traditional event that takes place in Nagaland, a state in northeastern India. Nagaland is a multiethnic state that is home to various tribes. GOD'S OWN COUNTRY
Tumblr media
Kerala is known as 'God's Land' and rightly so, Kerala is a picturesque state located in the South of India. The lush boardwalks and backwaters will soothe your mind and soul and give you the vacation you've been waiting for. Winter in Kerala is considered the best season to plan a vacation. Kerala's warm temperatures provide perfect conditions to escape freezing temperatures and spend time with your loved ones, friends and family in a boathouse.
Three years ago i completed my board exams and was getting ready to enjoy my summer holidays. My family decided to take me to Kerala for summer vacation. We tend to reach the city through train and that we travelled 15 hours to reach that beautiful state. We tend to reach our destination around 12.00pm in the noon and had rest in our assigned rooms. As first day of our tour we made it to Thiruvananthapuram and visited a famous temple named Shree Padmanabhaswamy Temple this temple is full of mystery and unique dress code was followed in the temple, this there were secret tunnels under the temple and many rumors and mystery was revolving around this tunnels among the people over there and we came to know many interesting facts about the temple during the visit. We took alot of photographs and shared it in our social media handles. We got to try alot of foods originated in kerala and we also got to try alot of different foods from different cuisine in this trip.
Then we decided to experience some breezy beaches of kerala. Thereby we planned our second day schedule and visited Kovalam beach, Hawah beech, Veli beach. Kovalam beach is considered to be one of the major beaches in trivandrum and is situated just at the distance of 17kms comprising a group of three remarkable crescent shaped beaches, namely samudra beach, hawah beach, and light house beach. Kovalam beach is always buzzed with activities.
And we visited the other beaches near kovalam. we wore our swimming dress and enjoyed the pool located in our resort for almost 2 hours. And the resort management organized the resort well for our stays. The comfortness offered by resort made us enjoy the short vacation happily.
Tumblr media
We tried alot of food stalls located around the beaches, and we also did some street shopping in the beach. We went on a boat ride for which kerala is famous for. Finally we visited a sunset point where we got to see a beautiful picture perfect sunset view. We clicked alot of sunset photos and videos and created tons of memories in kerala. As it was three day trip our final day in kerala went on checking out rooms and packing for our departure. We took a return train at 5.30pm from trivandrum and reached vellore by 8.30am the next day morning by this our short kerala trip came to an end.
