Soultale PATH CHOICE

Laria: I-I would like to explore the Ruins!

Cetas:smiling alright my child, I will show you the Ruins and how to solve the puzzles should I not be there to help you..Oh i almost forgot, here! Take this!

Cetas hands Laria a phone. Laria takes it an examines it

Corru: It's a phone! It…looks old though

Anima: Hey wait a second…That's my phone! Laria, when you have the chance, call San-…er, Soul. Call Soul

Laria nods and then looks up at Cetas, smiling

Laria: T-thank you mom

Cetas, nodding: Of course my child. If you want to do anything before we leave, you may do it.

Laria nods and hops off of the chair, thinking of what to do, but can't find anything so they walk towards the door and waits by it. Cetas smiles and walks over, patting their head

Cetas: I will be right back my child. I just have to grab something from my room.

Corru: Quick! While she is gone, text Soul!

Cetas walks off and Laria hesitates but opens the phone once Anima tells them the password

Laria, under breath: What do I text him…?

Anima: uh, I didn't think of that-

Corru: Oh! I know what to do! Tell that smiley trashbag that your are the new fallen human and can talk to us! That'll get his attention!

Anima: I…it'll probably work, but also tell him you're exploring the RUINS…I think the door might still be open..

Laria nods and clicks on Soul's contact, texting him, and the puts the phone away once Cetas walks back, holding a bag filled with water bottles and snacks in case they get hungry. Cetas smiles

Cetas: Let us go my child, there is so much I wish to show you!

Laria nods and Cetas opens the door. Laria walks out and then Cetas does, closing the door behind them. Cetas hums

Cetas: We will go back to the start of the RUINS, and then work our way back up, okay my child?

Laria, nodding: Okay mom

Cetas smiles and leads her back to the entrance of the ruins, back where she first found Laria

Cetas: Now then, my child, there are multiple paths to the ruins, so which one would you like to explore first? We can go straight, which is the main path. We can go left, which is the home area of the ruins, or we could go right, which is the path we took before. The right and left paths are the only ones without traps or puzzles.

Laria nods and thinks about it, and then feels the phone buzz in her pocket. Cetas then remembers something and frowns

Cetas: Oh dear…I forgot something. My child, I hope you can fend for yourself, while I take care of this errand. I will be back soon, I promise!

Laria, nodding: O-okay!

Cetas nods and runs off towards the left path. Laria takes out the phone and looks at it

Laria: Sans? Soul? Either way, he texted back

Corru: What did he say? Come on, tell us!

Laria: He, uh, he asked where we are? Should I tell him?

Anima: I trust him, and I know he'll trust you! So, go ahead, do it!

Laria nods and texts Soul. Not even 5 seconds later, a dragon skeleton monster appears, causing Laria to squeak in shock and fall down, shaking. The skeleton, Soul, sees this and sweatdrops, kneeling down infront of them

Soul: Ah geez, eye didn't meant to scare yew kiddo! I'm Soul, I'm sure the kiddos told you about me?

Laria, shaky: A-alittle bit..

Soul: aw, don't look so rattled, I won't hurt ya! Besides, the monsters in the underground like humans, so ewe got nothing to worry about!

Laria nods and Soul helps them up, setting them up on their feet

Soul: So, you can see and hear the kiddos?

Laria, nodding: mhm

Soul: huh, well you don't have any LV, so that means your innocent. So, where did Cet go?

Laria, blinking: Cet?

Soul: Cetas, the goat lady.

Laria: oh, she had an errand to run and told me to explore.

Soul: huh…well then kiddo, what were the options?

Laria: The right path, the straight path, and the left path

Soul: well, what do you wanna do?

Laria shrugs and the skeleton thinks, going to make the decison

Things to know:

-Sans is Justice, Papyrus is Bravery, Undyne is Kindness, Toriel is Integrity, Asgore is Patience, and Alphys is Perseverance

-Sans and Papyrus are brothers, but Sans is adopted. He's still older but was adopted after Papyrus was born

-Chara and Asriel are alive, they never died.

-Asgore and Asriel are brothers in this AU as Asgore and Toriel are children.

Monster

There once was a lamb who went by many names and was loved by all, but all that power and glory went to their head. The lamb laughed and laughed, getting greedier and greedier, taking all of the love for himself, until a goat stood in his way. The goat told the lamb that it wasn't right to steal all of the love, and that love was meant to be shared, not hoarded. The lamb laughed in her face and dismissed her, thinking he was the best. But the goat came back, day after day to convince him, until one day,the lamb snapped and injured her, but the goat was fine with this, and simply put the memories of the people he had hurt into his mind. The lamb, having been blinded by illusions, realized his mistake and fled, leaving the goat to clean his mess, which she did, for a very long time…the goat, having seemingly dissapeared, did not, having used their magic to make people perceive them as a human while they acted like a detective, picking up the lambs mess and making it right…and then one day, in the lab the goat had, alamgates had appeared in the test tubes, all six of them. The goat was concerned because nobody knew how to get into their lab, but decided to not get rid of the alamgates, instead taking care of them…but then, over the course of a week, one of the almgamtes turned into a Sans, and this startled the goat, who now had a justice soul as their apprentice. The goat still took care of them, while Justice was more wary, and then over the course if a year via resets, it was time for the Sans to come out of the tube after the goat had fixed his soul. Draining the tube of its fluid, the goat took him out and took care of him, making sure he was alright and cared for. The justice soul didn't want to admit it, but they were jealous and cautious, but grew to love(platonically) and appreciate the Sans…but then the au they were in started to get destroyed, so the goat and the justice soul, used the last remnants of their power to send the Sans to Soultale. Where he remains hidden to this day, too timid and afraid to come out, but also plotting revenge on the one who destroyed his au, the goat, and the justice soul. It was a weird makeshift family, but they made it work. The Sans, knowing about the au's, named himself Hopper at first, but then changed it to Monster as his form shifted from a normal Sans skeleton, to a beast with fur. He still thinks about his family, occasionally holding the music box the goat got for him and the bandana Justice gave him. He resides in the area between Hotland and Waterfall, but has tunnels for the rest of the Underground so he can travel

Alright, I’ll be honest. I’ve been searching ao3 for an Undertale fic where the main character is a human and falls to the underground, yadda yadda, but once they make it out of the ruins (because really, who dies in the ruins??), they die. However, instead of resetting (if they even can, as their soul may not be very DETERMINED), they just decide willingly(? I mean they were murdered, but they agreed post-mortem, probably because dying hurts like a buttcheek on a stick) to be used to help break the barrier. However, to make it more interesting, they absorb themself(?? I cannot think of a better way to word this) into the monster who killed them, or a monster they just like good enough, and refuse to be absorbed by Asgore.

And actually yeah I’m staking my claim on this idea, I’m just putting it out there because I wish it to be so

My brain kinda took it in the direction of ‘the human is terrified, but also a Sneaky Snitch and makes their way through the entirety of the ruins without running into a single monster (excluding maybe Flowey, but they’d definitely run away from him), and run through all the way to the pre-Snowdin area (does that area have a name? It’s not Snowdin, but it’s snowy). However, we are going on the assumption here that in the game or original timeline or whatever, Toriel asked Sans to make the promise to her after Frisk met her and stayed a while. This is important because after the stick on the ground breaks, the mc snaps around, and then they fucking die. Since they rushed through the ruins and dodged meeting Mom.

So now that they’re dead, soul light blue, displaying their Patience (which was already shown, since it took for-fucking-ever to solve the puzzles in the ruins without help, while also avoid encountering any monsters safely). They freak out for a while, and when they regain composure, Sans is looking at them weird, talking to them about how ‘I knew that human souls stuck around after death, but I didn’t realize they kept their consciousness,’ and explaining what would happen to them to calm them down, making at least three puns during his whole spiel.

So the human, deciding ‘fuck it, I’m already dead and this guy’s fuckin hilarious,’ absorbed themself (still cannot think of any way to word this better) into Sans, granting him a fuckton more power and dodge time, because patience doesn’t mean you can take hits. Sans, very confused and vaguely distressed, does not know what to do, and just takes a shortcut to Undyne.

And then it continues escalating from there, probably
