                   she’s running late, and even though it’s only by a few minutes, it’s not something she’s known to do. she’s got a new client, which isn’t unusual of course, but she likes making a good impression. especially since it’s a new client. so a little out of breath as she enters the salon, she waves a quick ‘hi’ to her coworkers and heads straight to the back. she quickly shoves her bag into her locker and grabs her apron, already walking out as she ties it around her waist. a few words at the reception and she heads over to the person who is presumably her client. “hi! did you book a cut and colour for eleven?” she asks, a smile on her face.

Sendo filho único de uma família conservadora chinesa e inglesa, Cameron nasceu e cresceu em londres, aprendendo desde jovem a mentir para os mais velhos para manter a paz e poder fazer o que tivesse vontade. Mesmo que nunca lhe faltasse nada, percebeu também na juventude que aprender a se virar sozinho quanto a muitas coisas, do contrário, acabaria tendo de seguir a risca todos os planos (dos quais não gostava nem um pouco) impostos para si por toda sua vida.

Com esse pensamento, fez questão de ser o melhor possível quanto aos estudos, pedindo para os pais desde o início de seus anos finais na escola para que pudesse se inscrever para uma bolsa em alguma universidade fora do país em que moravam, insistindo que queria ver tudo por uma outra perspectiva, já que isso poderia o tornar mais responsável, maduro e independente (além de ser ótimo para seu currículo). E foi assim que foi parar em Sowon. Em seu primeiro ano na universidade, contou com a ajuda financeira de sua família, contudo, acabou por ter de se virar de outras maneiras após ter problemas com a mesma. Por estar vivendo longe, Cam achou que não precisaria mais ser tão sutil e cauteloso quanto a seus divertimentos e gostos, percebendo que estava muito enganado ao ter o relacionamento que mantinha com seu ex namorado descoberto por ser pais, tendo de passar por tempos difíceis graças a isso. Com muito esforço e muita ajuda (até de outros familiares) , conseguiu aos poucos ir se reerguendo, saindo dos clubes que fazia parte e os substituindo por um emprego, mudando muito sua rotina... com o tempo, conseguiu organizar seu corrido dia a dia atual, o qual consegue realmente aproveitar e se sentir, em maioria, contente com ele.

It’s Friday. I should be happy and looking forward to my weekend (including my first trip to Soonsiki for a haircut, I have high hopes!).

But instead I got myself worked up because a person I care about keeps repeating this stupid destructive cycle with jobs and it’s frustrating me to no end.

I get. You want to be happy at your job. You weren’t completely happy at your last job which is why you left it and this new one is a good opportunity. But it’s been less than a week, you don’t know anything about your new job and if you can adjust to it. Is it really a good idea to quit? At least try. And don’t get f*cking snarky and defensive when I’m trying to be positive and encouraging.

As for me, I don’t like my job very much, but it’s a stepping stone and I will get to where I want to be eventually. I don’t have the luxury of just quitting a job.

I ended up telling her we can’t talk about jobs anymore. Our views are too different and it just creates tension between us.
