"Tangle & Whisper: New Roads" Issue #1 Animated Cover!

After moping for a little while (see my last post), I started to see a major silver lining: I can work on whatever project I want. With monetary gain off the table for motivation, I suddenly realized I’m free to make art of all sorts of things, from original works to fan comics. That brings me to the first thing I’ve started working on recently. Yes, I started a Sonic the Hedgehog fan comic.

I know some of the Blue Blur’s fanbase can be a little... questionable sometimes, and I myself have mixed feelings about the IP—but the fact remains that Sonic had a huge impact on me growing up, and I still love the little guy.

One thing I love to do on my free time is connect dots of franchises with little to no explanation or backstory. The earliest Sonic games have extremely vague and simple plots, leaving a lot of space to make fun filler about how things came to be. You can see such theories on some of my Tiktoks:

In fact, it was the ones above that inspired the idea I had for the story I’m working on. The meat of the story takes place during the events of the old arcade game, SegaSonic the Hedgehog. It’s ok if you haven’t heard of it; I didn’t until not too long ago. Here’s a rundown of the game if you’ve got nothing else to do today: 

I found this obscure addition to the franchise to have a lot of potential, and I loved that this is where the characters Mighty and Ray first appeared!
