Also another fun fact about Lepigriffs:
Their wings are a bit... Weird.
Unlike moth wings, their wings are supported by cartilage "digits." Because of this, they're much stronger than true bug wings, but at the cost of being somewhat less flexible.

Have a random story- drabble thing based off of a random idea I have. Basically, solarpunk/ clockwork world with sapient moth-bird-raptor people.
Honestly, she had no idea how she even got in this situation. She was currently at Ms. Rubi's stall, waiting on a few supplies for drawing and other small crafts. Sula nervously twirled her claws, hoping that she haven't done anything that could warrant misunderstanding. She wasn't really the best at social situations, but she couldn't rely on Ashworth to do the shopping and talking all the time.
Sula looked around the gigantic open space that is the local mall. It was mostly small stalls, their lepigriff owners trying to desperately gather any passers-by's attention to show off their stocks. It was mostly crafts, with many stalls selling beads, paintings, suncatchers, tapestries and the like. The mall itself was made of mostly copper, gold and wood, the hues of the walls being a dead giveaway. The ceiling was made of stained glass in varying shades of green, casing a leaf pattern on the floor, almost like the ground of a gigantic forest.
There were also many plants, especially somewhat large trees that were placed in well-decorated 'pots,' although they were really depressions in the ground that was filled with more than enough soil. The building was also multistory, and there were perches scattered around, many of which had lepigriffs resting on it. The air was filled with quiet chatter and clicking of talons against the wooden floors.
Sula haven't realised that she was zoning out until Ms. Rubi have finished packing her order and was giving it to her. "Here you go, sweetheart," Ms. Rubi chimed in her sweet voice, startling Sula from her trance and handing her a fabric bag full of art supplies. Still a bit anxious, Sula took the bag from Ms. Rubi's talons and replied, "Thank you miss. Sorry about that, I zoned out." Ms. Rubi adjusted her glasses, before she spoke, "No problem dear, it's alright." She then waved at Ms. Rubi, before heading back to her room in the nearby apartment.
She glanced around the halls in the apartments, looking for her room number. She never really adjusted to living in apartments, she vividly remembered how her parents had a small shack near the local park, which was somewhat small but still beautiful, with a small stream passing right through it. She finally spotted her room number; 140, up on the second floor. Except there was one problem.
She can't really fly.
She couldn't remember if there were any nearby stairs, and she could ask any of the lepigriffs who were walking around, but she didn't want to seem weird and lead herself to a potentially awkward situation. So she decided the best course of action: she was going to at least try to fly.
With wings outstretched, Sula jumped into the air, flapping her large rusty-red and yellow wings, with eyes locked on to her room. However, it wasn't executed as gracefully as she liked. Instead, she managed to crash-land onto the second floor's wooden panels, her wings sending a great deal of dust and scales everywhere.
She heard of the sound of a door slamming opening, and then was greeted by the sight of Ashworth staring with a concerned look on her face, bright golden-yellow eyes seeming even more comically large. "Are you okay? Have you tried to fly to the second floor again?" Ashworth asked with concern in her voice, talons on hips and tail flicking a little bit. "Yeah, at least I managed to actually get onto the halls this time," Sula replied, already dusting herself from the landing.
"You could've gotten hurt! Next time, please ask someone for directions to the stairs, or something like that!" Ashworth chimed. "Don't worry, I'll try to remember that, plus I managed to get all my supplies without being a nervous wreck!" Sula then continued, holding the bag which somehow managed to not spill any of it's contents during the crash. "That's great, although I guess we should go inside now, and make sure you're okay and all that." Sula sighed, before chuckling, "Okay! Okay, please stop being really concerned, I'm okay now."

It's pretty common for businesses to be run at one's home, especially with artisans. It also can vary, with some deciding to use stalls at "malls," or even a completely separated building altogether, although this latter option is extremely rare.
Is it more common for businesses in your setting to be run from someone’s home or a separate building? Does it depend on the type of business?

Sure thing! I recently drew these because I haven't gotten any chance to develop Solarclock Lepigriffs much, especially lepigriff's clothing and such. So here you go!
(Jumpsuit showing wing holes, jacket and jumpsuit, dress without any jumpsuit and dress with jumpsuit)
As you can see, they usually tend to wear simplistic clothing, although they do like to wear somewhat elaborate accessories, such as frilly necklaces, bracelets, etc.
Popular clothes generally varies, although it's usually bright and colourful stuff. Warm colours and iridescent stuff are especially popular.
Any mutuals got any original species? I’d love to possibly make one. Feel free to drop links to posts about them, so just reply to this post so I can dm about them.
Even feel free to use this post as an excuse to talk about them cuz I’d love to hear about peoples original species.

Been meaning to do this...
Mind telling me about this project? I'm very curious!
Sure thing!
There are two things this Project consists of: Solarclock Lepigriffs and Moonmoth Clockworks.
Solarclock Lepigriffs is the general worldbuilding project. This is based around the lepigriffs, sapient moth/ bird-like creatures, and their culture and environment. This is heavily based on solarpunk, clockpunk, art deco and art noveau, with a slight dash of biopunk.
Lepigriffs are the sapient species of Solarclock Lepigriffs. They are anthromorphic moth-like creatures, with bird-like faces and talons. They tend to be 4-5 feet tall and very light. Their colouration tend to mimic real-life moth, butterfly, dragonfly and wasp species. They have large eyes with slightly elliptical pupils, with black, brown, gold, green, blue or even red iris and dark sclera.
They're also based on various moth species and can have tail wings! However, they can't be based on insects that aren't moths/ butterflies.
Moonmoth Clockworks is a series of short stories focusing on Sula, a timid lepigriff artist, and her friend Ashworth. It's mostly slice-of-life stuff, and you can read the first part here.
Unfortunately, as you can see, I... didn't really managed to write much (*Cough* Too many things and not knowing what to focus on *Cough Cough*)

Finally! Made the references for Sula and Ashworth! Well, it's not proper refs, but it's a good start!
Sula is, of course, based on a Sulawesi Moon moth. Ashworth, however, is based off of pink spirit moths, not Ashworth's Rustic! Despite being pastel colours, I think she'll like somewhat gothic things.

I'm also active at @octahedral-chaos, but I want to start posting here again. I also want to work on @solarclock-lepigriffs as well, so you can also follow over there if you want.
If you're an artist and are having trouble building followers, especially if you're new on tumblr or back after leaving, reblog this with some of your art. It will be visible to everyone checking the notes. Everyone keep checking the notes and follow whoever puts their cool art in them. People keep telling me I'm Tumblr famous so maybe this helps!

Hello! Welcome to OCTAfan's sideblog for a little story/ worldbuilding project of mine; Solarclock Lepigriffs and Moonmoth Clockworks!
What is Solarclock Lepigriffs and Moonmoth Clockworks?
Solarclock Lepigriffs is a fantasy worldbuilding project that's basically a heavily solarpunk and clockwork inspired world where moth/ bird like creatures called Lepigriffs are the sapient beings. It'll have a lot of stained glass, art deco and nouveau and plants, but also slight biopunk and microbiology/ virology motifs.
Moonmoth Clockworks is a potential short story (?) set in this world where we follow Sula, an anxious and somewhat introverted lepigriff artist, as well as Ashworth, her partner, as they both get into silly daily shenanigans.
Can we make stuff based in this setting?
Sure thing! Just make sure to credit me... in fact, if you made any fanart or even fan character, please tag me so I can see them!
Where can we follow you besides here?
I run several other blogs! My main being @octahedral-chaos.
I also have a YouTube channel, and a spacehey... although that's pretty dead (Maybe I'll revive it into a Solarclock Lepigriffs-themed blog where I post stuff relating to it, as well as other fun stuff?
Anyways, I hope you enjoy your visit here, don't forget to ask questions and stuff! Have fun!
Oh! And tag list under the cut:

OH MY GOODNESS THEIR CHICKS ARE LIKE PUFFBALLS?????
I must know more about the chicks!
OKAY SO-
Lepigriffs have clutches of 1-3 eggs, the chicks are initially naked and blind but they grow quite quickly, like they take at least 3 weeks to develop feathers and eyesight. Lepigriffs become mature at 20 years, and live up to 70 years on average.
Basically Lepigriffs chicks are very cute! They have big ol' eyes and are very, VERY fluffy with their downy feathers. Colouration tend to mimic the lavae of the bug species that they'll resemble at adulthood, with some markings based on game species (Specifically little stripes and spots).
