I just participated in a super fun art challenge with @gaymarriedinspace and @chiropteracupola! Our theme was “Softboy Meets Something I Love.” We’re posting our own parts of the challenge individually before the finished pieces (and their previous sketches and lineart) are posted on the Softboy blog this upcoming Saturday.

Halloween is over, and now it's time for Chris, Makena, and Lorrie to do some intense napping after their post-candy binges. All of their candy combined made quite a big haul this year!

This year's theme for their costumes was indie horror games. Chris is Rambley Racoon from Indigo Park, Makena is Amanda from Amanda the Adventurer, and Lorrie is Huggy Wuggy from Poppy Playtime.

And with that, the October drawing challenge will come to a close! I hope you liked the daily drawings and had a Happy Halloween.

Softboy visited a cool art exhibition recently! He's all bundled up because it's cold on the moon, and not because the artist messed up when drawing his mouth.

So, in case you ever wanted to learn more about Figaro, the main character of the Softboy universe's Tailwind Tales franchise, this Gravity Falls audio (from the short "Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained: Stan's Tattoo") should tell you all you need to know about his personality.

Note: The Tailwind Tales franchise is set during Figaro's childhood. In this clip, he'd be Soos's age. His personality didn't change much!

This week's comic is inspired by the fact that I recently purchased (and binge read) the new Gravity Falls book The Book of Bill. Two elements (the... interesting texture in the fourth and fifth panels, and the cipher text) were downloaded from the website connected to the book. See if you can figure out how to get them too!

A “fun” fact: In the early days of this blog, I was planning to incorporate more of what I called “the red clouds” or “the red lightning.” It was a manifestation of anxiety, fear, and dread that Softboy would need to battle through. Some of you may even remember the one comic where it was actually used. However, I chose to focus on more fun (or at least, less dread-filled) ideas and haven’t used it since.

Recently, I was in the mood to see if I could make a new version of the red lightning through Procreate. I wish I wasn’t.

Thank goodness... that Leo has been able to relax and play a video game recently. Although he's been thinking about it so much that now, it's popping up in his dreams.

This is something I just had to draw after playing the game Thank Goodness You're Here! What can I say? Smol helpful characters make me think of Softboy.

Softboy’s wizard robe is based off of a real pair of underwear that the artist owns! It is, indeed, magically cozy.

Breaking news: Chrisville has finally established itself as an independent nation! This up-and-coming little country has got it all: laws, universal healthcare, mandatory theater society duty… what more could you want? True, they may not have anything to offer the global marketplace, but (most of) Chrisville’s residents still take pride in the fact that their home is so unique and wonderful. And totally not beholden to the laws or leaders of any other country. Not a single one.

They ARE still figuring out their exact system of leadership, though. Softboy isn’t really a monarch: he was democratically elected. However, the Chrisville residents started teasingly calling him “your majesty,” and they made a lil crown for him because he looks so darn cute, so he’s kind of also a king. Whatever he is, he calls the shots, and (almost) everyone is happy about it!

Before you ask, yes, there is an opposition party in Chrisville, and yes, it is just Dirk.

So... the artist might've been reading/watching a lot of Dungeon Meshi lately.

Still, the question remains! If Softboy were to imagine himself as Laois Dungeonmeshi, which form would be the best for this purpose? On the one hand, the left form is the most like our lovely little guy. On the other hand, the right form allows Softboy to properly embody Laois's nature of being the party's big ol' tank.

By the way, this post doesn't necessarily mean that I'm certain Softboy would play Laois in a Chrisville casting of the story. I just think this idea is fun and cute.
