Hello! What is your thoughts on meta knight and his relationships with everyone? Who do you think will he get along well and be besties with :00?
Hi! You're gonna get a long one!
First off, wanna mention that i think every specie ages slowly, and won't die unless killed by an outside force (so they can't die of old age, and they won't physically age past a certain point). This means that I will use physical ages to describe characters, rather than actual ages because these guys are all thousands of years old probably (I also think that some species will age through childhood quicker than others).
Okay, so!
Meta Knight is one of my favorite characters, which means I like to give him the most painful hc's I can! First off, he's blind, but he's got a visor in his mask that let's him see (which is why in some of my doodles, he has glasses, they're made of the same material). This was Nightmare's fault, his eyes were normally yellow but turned grey afterwards. At the time, Nightmare also quite literally ripped out his wings. Luckily for the plot amoured circle, the Dimensional Cape works as a prosthetic and can turn into his wings (He can actually use magic to maintain his 'wings' while he's not wearing the cape, but it's very limited and will hurt a LOT afterwards, so he doesn't do that often).
Alright, so hears everyone I can think of and Meta's relationship with them!
Kirby - Initially, Meta Knight refused to see him as anything more than a child who needed to learn. He was afraid of getting attached. He didn't want to lose anything else. However, this failed, and he ended up seeing Kirby as a son, going as far as to call him one. He cares for him enough to probably destroy the entire town in order to keep him safe, and is obscenely grateful that Kirby can hold his own for the most part.
Tiff - Initially, some kid who he avoided because she asked too many question and he didn't want to risk her figuring anything out since she tends to hyperanalyze random things while dismissing others. After Kirby's arrival, he sort of has to be around her, so he tries to keep himself emotionally distant. But he's bad at that, so he ended up seeing her in the same light a parent would their daughter, although he'll deny it. He finds it difficult to remember that she's still pretty much a 10 year old child given she's incredibly smart for her age. He teases her about Kine because, quite frankly, he finds it hilarious.
Tuff - He was a little easier to stay distant from. Meta Knight didn't have an opinion one way or the other about him before Kirby arrived, and usually only saw him or his sister if they were getting involved with Dedede in case they were about to get killed. Afterwards, he also sees him like a son. He's got adoption issues lmao. He's aware that Tuff is kinda stupid, but looks past that a lot in fvaor of things he's actually good with.
Sword/Blade - He feels the same way about both of them and will obliterate you if you hurt either of them. He met them at possibly the lowest point in his life and didn't initially believe they'd survive for very long given their terrible fighting capabilities. Regardless, he got attached and they became very close friends. He cares for their safety, and is a little off put by their willingness to do stupid things that puts their live sat risk, especially if he's the reason (cough cough Wolfwrath cough).
Dedede - In one word, idiotic. He showed up before Tiff was born so he's known Dedede for a LONG time. Even then, the idiot was playing with monsters. He got frustrated after the child's were around and Dedede started endangering them with his stupidity. Admittedly, he finds it amusing when he's scaled by N.M.E, but hates that it's them that does it (they don't deserve money how dare).
Ecsragoon - Sort of sad, really. He's just pathetic, all of his skill and he couldn't find a better job? It was worse after Meta Knight had seen that his mother wasn't a complete failure of a parent. Escargoon worked so hard to lie to her and out up the most ridiculous act he'd seen from him, but couldn't keep himself from being a complete fool of a person? He suspects he was likely more decent before working for Dedede. He also finds it infuriating that he yells at Tiff so often, and has even had her neglect her sleep for several days to built a stupid robot, only for it break and for him to attack Kirby anyways. Hurting him as bad as he did was satisfying.
Any of the cappies - He tends to avoid them, he's socially awkward. He finds them all collectively stupid, though. Who gets brainwashed by a swirl on TV with a penguin repeating 'Kirby must go away' over and over? Regardless, he appreciates that they provide company for his children friends.
Fololo and Falala - No opinion, but appreciates knowing they'll help him out if he needs to fly after Kirby without using his wings.
Waddle Dees/Waddle Doo - All his children. Every single one of them (Waddle Doo excluded). He sneaks them candy and they like to bring him small gifts. Typically screws or feathers, they don't have much. They're all squishy cute things. He's glad they're so durable. He likes Waddle Doo. He may be oddly loyal to a rude penguin, but he takes care of the Waddle Dees and won't hesitate to ask for something if they need it.
Tokori - He doesn't like him. He's rude to Kirby. Finds it amusing that Tiff has literally punched him and he seems to fear making her mad.
Any of the talking animals - No real opinion. He doesn't like that Kine likes Tiff. His kids aren't allowed to date. He finds it funny, though. He'll tease her about it endlessly.
Any talking trees - He mostly doesn't care. A little annoyed that Whispy nearly got his kids killed over a demonic flower, but oh well. It was a while ago.
Kabu - Meta Knight greatly appreciates his presence. It was nice to find something he was familiar with on Dreamland. He sometimes likes to chat with him.
That's all I can think of for Dreamland so GSA TIME!!
Nightmare - Ew. Ugly intergakactice war criminal that ruined his life and killed all of his friends. Meta Knight hates him with his very soul.
N.M.E Sales guy - Not really a personal opinion, but he doesn't like him. He works for Nightmare so hopefully he'll just stop existing. He doesn't know if he survived the ship being blown up and quite frankly, doesn't care.
Yamikage - He wants to kill him. He hates him. He doesn't understand how someone could betray the GSA, and it cost the lives of many innocent people. Yamikage also hates Meta Knight. Stupid pineapple.
Garlude - Now, I know it was never confirmed that she ever regularly worked with him, but I'm hooked on TheWinterRaven's Star Trio idea. He's very good friends with her and was devastated when she died. Before that, she was a good friend, but he admittedly didn't like her bothering him about his health.
Jecra (Knuckle Joe's Father) - Best friend, as stated in the show. He acted like an idiot, though, and would usually annoy Meta Knight outside of battle. They got along well, and Meta Knight had lost a lot when he had to kill him. His death hurt.
Arthur - He has a lot of respect and sympathy for him. He's the leader of a large army that (in my AU's/HC wasn't originally even his). On top of that, he grew up around him, and saw him like a brother. It was heartbreaking to watch him go from a confident and well trained Star Warrior to someone who felt hopeless about the battle they were slowly loosing. He'd started yelling multiple times about how much better Uther would have done for the GSA and refused any support. When they split up, Meta Knight was convinced they were dead, and was beyond hurt that he had to die in that state of mind. He knew Arthur blamed himself for every failure and setback, and seeing him act as if he was fine around others was painful beyond explanation.
Falspar - Menace. Also grew up with him. Falsoar tried to keep everyone's spirits up and Meta Knight appreciated that. He cared for him, even though he had been notorious for causing mischief before the army fell apart. Near the end, he was trying his best to keep Arthur together, and he seemed lost. Meta Knight didn't like that.
Dragato - Very similar to Falspar, but Meta would call him dramatic too. He'd be the type to hop around on one foot, yelling ow repeatedly in a higher and higher pitched voice it he hit it on something. He was 'killed' in the same state as Falspar. Neither of them seemed like themselves in the end.
Lancelot - Meta Knight would speak to him the most out of all his brothers. He was calm and introverted. Shy boi. He got along well with him but would also harass him about his health. He was Arthur's biggest helper and near the end, had the biggest struggle in keeping him and the rest of them even the slightest bit hopeful. It was a lost cause by then and it was obvious he knew it. He stopped after Arthur yelled at him to stop acting as if everything would be fine. From there he was more quiet and withdrawn than he usually was. Meta Knight hated that.
Kit Cosmos - He knew he existed but hadn't really formed much of an opinion on him. He respected his skill.
Galaxia - Meta Knight had been on his own for several years before meeting Sword and Blade, and was at the lowest point in his life. He carried a lot of guilt and Galaxia would try to comfort him. He finds her presence comforting, to the point where he hates it when she's not with him. He speaks to her a lot. When he isn't fighting a loosing battle with his mental state, she bothers him about his health. In short, she's probably the closest thing he's ever had to a mother.
Any monster - He hates them all. As far as he's concerned, they're just embodiments of Nightmare's magic, and they can all disappear forever.
Anyone who works for N.M.E - He hates them too. He's good at hiding it when he knows they aren't a monster, but if they anger him, they're dead.
Sirica - Seeing her was both painful and relieving. He knew Garlude cared for her and was convinced she had died a long time ago. He doesn't know where she got the idea that he left her mother to die, but he assumed some monster had spewed it to her before dying. She clearly didn't like N.M.E but didn't have anything else to go off of, so he understood. Still, it was difficult to be attacked for the death of a friend that he already blamed on himself. He treats her the way a father would their daughter. Very protective orb.
Knuckle Joe - He didn't blame him for going after him. He was annoyed with Dedede for telling him that Kirby was the one he was after. Treats him the same way as Sirica. He knows they can handle themselves, but when they're on Popstar, dad mode activates.
I think that's all- Let me know if I missed anyone! :D

during one of my many existential crises relating to me writing original fiction (and failing at it), it has dawned on me that i need to start writing sapphic stories.
because i've also realized the main reason why i can never create male characters interesting enough for me to want to *write* about them extensively is that i just...don't care??? 😂
like, seriously

rambling about the love triangle, what michael & kit represents for jentry
a good handful of the criticisms about the love triangle and the romance in general in the show are completely valid and i agree with a lot of them... like i truly do get it when people say they rather not have romance in this show. but honestly i found the love triangle in beginning to be quite interesting since it showed potential in the dynamics. i feel the writers did not *fully* utilize the meaning within the dynamics that was already there and instead mostly used the triangle for entertainment. it would've been way more better for the writers to take advantage of the meaning to explore it for the audience to study it, which they partially did but its clear at some points they prioritized showing romance for the sake of entertainment reasons
in the beginning, Michael being representative of the "normal" and Kit being representative of the "unusual" that the main character is struggling with is such a compelling introduction of a love triangle, considering that we're introduced to our main character struggles with normalcy, the past, her powers, and the underworld being set up to be the main thing for this season. Micheal is teenage boy who is quite normal to the point of almost being the ideal of it—he's a football player with good influence whose able to socialize with people. but also he is a childhood friend who is still disturbed by the past fire, so he is not even just being representative of the "normal" but also the past that Jentry constantly struggles with.
Kit fits the norm so much to the point he leans towards being a deviant. he is very conventionally attractive, he says and does the right things, he's so polite and composed, yet also remains detached. he's so close to perfection to the point he's "unusual" or "out of bounds" (like the underworld). but also he is the "new kid" of the school, being the potential of something new or a different kind of future that Jentry can't get with Michael.
Noticeably, Jentry also struggles with being unusual in social and physical terms (underground world & possession of powers), and she pushes herself to the future for the sake of normalcy so much to the point of not addressing the past. this is reflected by the way the romance in the dynamic between Jentry and Kit is quite fast despite her feelings still remaining with Michael (the past), the attraction from Jentry's end being so strong because she's enticed by the image of him (the future or moving away from her past), plus how unusual they are & feel fueling the connection. the speed of their romance is also reminiscent of how fast Jentry became connected to the underworld.
Then what these guys represent for Jentry gets explored more. Michael as a representative of the "normal" is somewhat broken down. he is quite unsure his future & himself despite being perceived as being secure in his identity and how much he's seen as a good teenager mostly relies on how much he pleases others (especially authorities but also his peers) even if he doesn't want to do those things. though in a sense these traits are normal in teenagers (thus being a representation of the "normal"), those traits also deconstruct norms which are typically social expectations that are thinly-veiled unattainable ideals for most teenagers to achieve. thus Michael shifts to being representative of the deconstruction of "normal"—which absolutely goes well with Jentry breaking down the lies, truth and secrets behind what is normal for her (ex: her grandmother as a guardian, the lack of her parents)
but on top of that, it turns out he has quirky powers of his own. his powers are interesting considering he is the "normal" (then "deconstruction of normal") and "past", considering they are outside of normalcy and are related to the future. despite having these visions, he remains unsure about them and the future in general. its hinted that his parents know about the powers, yet never told him about it. which is interesting noting that these parents pushed him to be normal. through the relationship with his visions, his parents knowing about his powers while pushing him away from the knowledge of them—but also pushing him towards what made him normal (football), and also his desire for doing something new, it shows that being "normal" held him back on his potential unrelated to norms & expectations, thus contributing to him as a symbol for deconstruction of norms.
Kit as the representative of the "unusual" is not just reinforced but strengthened when he's revealed to be a demon. this reveal really does reinforces him being the underworld that Jentry is connecting to, though the connection mostly revolves around her being taken advantaged of by the many demons in that world—just like what Kit has largely been doing throughout the show. yet there is more added to him as a symbol. he becomes the physical form of Jentry's insecurities, being the demon that she think she is. Jentry has avoided and taken advantaged of the "demon" (power) within her at various points of the series, which is similar to the way she does the same to Kit. despite being a demon, the show humanizes him as it shows he is a multifaceted being cable of emotion that he may not be able to describe. through the acknowledgment of the demon that is Kit having traits likened to humanity, Jentry is able to address the "demon" she sees in herself by humanizing herself. and so Kit's death can be seen as a the death of Jentry's perception of herself.
with the context of Jentry's story being to accept the powers and the connection to the underground world as something definite in her life, along with the themes around taking control and Michael slowly getting used to his own powers, him as a symbol is framed differently. Michael is the deconstruction of *society's* definition of normalcy to make your own version of what's normal for you! with the (possible but likely) establishment of the romance in the dynamic between them at the end of the show, it represents Jentry reconciling with and finally addressing the past that she has constantly mourned about. with Michael largely being associated water (that being a big theme in his visions) and Jentry being associated with fire, it shows a "balance" between the two of them as she's worked on herself and that work is ongoing. in a way he goes back to being a symbol of what is normal, but specifically according to Jentry's definition.
i just want to emphasis that there's so much potential even right from the start. i also believe that the outcomes of the triangle—the dynamic Jentry/Michael being endgame, and Jentry/Kit having hints of chemistry for a while but is doomed to perish makes sense for the narrative. the endgame relationship being off and on does make sense, although it is a concept not executed greatly since the show is so vague with them establishing their relationship and them breaking up to the point that was not the message given to many viewers. Kit's death (in the love triangle and literal terms) makes sense, and it is to me the most satisfying outcome of the triangle despite the execution of it being questionable among some of the audience. i'd say that these characters' existence & the emphasis on Jentry's dynamic with the both of them (romance or not) are needed for the story. it is also very interesting to see what the guys represent for Jentry having some shifts and recontextualization, which is reminiscent of the constant life & rebirth topic going on through out the show with the rules regarding to spirituality and the underworld
there's no question that the execution of the whole triangle wasn't that great. there can be so much meaning drawn from the love triangle and what it means for Jentry's story. yet many viewers are dissatisfied with it to the point of some wishing there wasn't any romance in general. it is understandable, though i fear that the love triangle was so lacking to the point the meaning & potential that's already there is missed by the audience and diminished by the writers.
i especially have more complaints towards Jentry/Michael, which fell short to me (and many others apparently) despite it supposing to be the endgame relationship that's meant to be rooted for. there is some hint of the "opposites attract" thing going on with the two that strengthen by the fire & water associations with Jentry & Michael. the both of them are set up to be the opposing elements that are needed together to balance the two of them out. though there is definitely stability that can be seen from especially Jentry but also Michael as he has constantly jumped to girl to girl despite his strong feelings for her, that "opposites attract" trope is hardly reinforced by Michael's personality traits.
Michael's character... needed some more work in this season. he's such a "safe" character that the traits that would translate to flaws and/or concerns in real life (emotionally cheating on all of your partners, cheating by kissing someone else despite having a current partner, and jumping to girlfriend to the next) are portrayed as traits not meant to show depth, and in fact are things to gloss over or be happy about for the sake of rooting for the endgame ship. the traits that could've acted as an extension of to already existing traits (his trouble with commitment could be an extension of his constant self doubt of himself) are not touched on, because those traits are meant to be glossed over. there could've been more opportunities to explore him more and yet there are hardly any, which makes some of the meaning between Jentry/Michael not shine as much as it had the potential to.
and it was very clear that people behind the show did not know what to do with Michael's character, which makes him and his relationship with Jentry lacking even more. which is quite unfortunately, because i'd argue the dynamic is one of the most important ones in the story... and yet the writers prioritized the drama that come with it instead of the potential depth of the ship. Sigh. Still like this show though! It's just... maybe there could have been more... to the romance...

would you ever be willing to show the steps you take to create a comic? :> 🩷 if you have done so before my apologies, i didn't see it
I'd probably not.
I'm not doing it to gatekeep, It's just documenting steps, explaining why I do this and that, is just a whole work I'm not willing to invest in especially when I'm mostly operating on instinct. Please, I just knew how to draw and decided to make some self-indulgent comics. I thought it would be a good brain exercise now that I find it stale to work on beautiful portfolio-worthy artwork 100% of the time -_-
The mangas and comics I've read in the last decade certainly gave me a direction on how I want to do it. If you're looking for a helpful guide, Adrienne's comic tutorial taught me everything I know: here's the link (It literally gave me the confidence to make one lol).
That said, please don't ask me for a step-by-step process anymore. I don't like doing it. I get that spreading knowledge is important but asking someone who doesn't want to teach, teach will do more harm than good. I think people who want to learn better deserve better and I'd feel bad if I just ended up adding to the noise of bad art advice out there djsfladsjfh

Please share the Preston Garvey thoughts! 🙏
i wish they were more coherent but at heart i just love 'Character Who Knows The World Is Terrible And Tries To Do Good Anyway' & i think preston is the perfect example of that!! something about meeting him in concord and not knowing how close to the edge he is just makes me lose my mind. he truly believes he's failed everyone he's ever tried to protect but he puts a brave face on for these last four people because they don't need to see that, they need him to at least pretend there's a way out - and then there is, because the sole survivor arrives and it's enough of a foothold to keep going a little longer!! and then he builds the minutemen back up into something worth fighting for and being part of (and i do give him credit for that - yeah sometimes the quest-giving got annoying but literally what can he do. another settlement genuinely needs our help) and just 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 thinking about him as the sole surviving member of the minutemen meeting The Sole Survivor is very 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 and THEN there's the MAIN PLOT of FALLOUT FOUR coming to be SUPER ANNOYING -

5 simple, some age-old, conflicts for your fantasy/scifi world just off the top of my head:
They have more of *resource* than us!
Oh Boy The Rich Are At It Again
"The only punishment for theft is murder" um
STOP KILLING THE PLANET
torn on how to deal w/ the plague
I could keep going. Even stupid stuff like "you eat PB&J with GRAPE JELLY you MONSTER, it should be STRAWBERRY JAM" could be a realistic, yet defining line in the sand. Also, all the ones above are literally huge issues in our world that we haven't fixed! If you need "realism"
So yeah! Have your pick, challenge yourself to come up with more funky ones, maybe world specific! "You get to make fren with dragons, BUT OUR COUNTRY DOESN'T AND THAT NOT FAIR" "screen time for space kids, y/n" XD I mean there are sooo many things to explore, old & new ^_^
