The road remains within the national park for the entirety of the route, adding to its attractiveness as a scenic drive.⁣ ⁣ Many people assume that the Snake Pass took its name in reference to its many twists and turns as it weaves its way through the dramatic landscape. However, while the serpentine route may imitate the animal itself, the real meaning behind the moniker is more prosaic.⁣ ⁣ The road actually acquired its name from the Snake Inn, a popular pub along the route. Interestingly, the situation was later reversed when the Snake Inn renamed itself the Snake Pass Inn, so the pub took its name from the road, which in turn took its name from the pub!⁣ ⁣ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:⁣ ⁣ There's a bus service run by 'Hulleys of Baslow' that runs from Sheffield to Manchester and vice-versa. In @crankgameplays‘s Snakepass video he brought up a nightmare he had as a wee boi about a giant snake strangling him. And for some reason I decided to depict the snake back for revenge. I dunno, I’m tired. Noodle attempting to eat a blueberry or something. Always ask first.

Snake Pass is a hill pass in the Derbyshiresection of the Peak District, crossing the Pennines between Glossop and the Ladybower Reservoir at Ashopton. The road was engineered by Thomas Telford and opened in 1821. The pass carries the A57 road between Manchester and Sheffield, but it is no longer the main signposted route between those two cities.
