Acreage Mowing Services in Brisbane
Maintaining large properties in Brisbane can be time-consuming and physically demanding. That’s where professional help becomes essential. With the increasing demand for spacious living, more homeowners and property investors are turning to professionals who offer reliable and efficient solutions. Among the top services needed in these expansive landscapes are Acreage Mowing Services in Brisbane.
Why Large Properties Need Specialised Lawn Care
Brisbane is home to many semi-rural and rural properties, especially in suburbs like Brookfield, Chandler, Mount Crosby, Pullenvale, and Upper Brookfield. These areas feature large open yards, paddocks, and sloped terrains that are difficult to maintain without the proper equipment. Regular lawn mowing on a small urban block is one thing, but mowing an acre or more of land requires commercial-grade machines and trained hands. That’s why many property owners choose trusted professionals for Acreage Mowing Services in Brisbane.
The Benefits of Professional Acreage Mowing
Hiring experts ensures the job is done right the first time. Professionals use ride-on mowers, slashing tools, and brush cutters to handle long grass, weeds, and uneven terrain. This not only improves the appearance of your property but also helps keep pests like snakes and rodents away. Well-maintained acreage also prevents bushfire hazards during dry seasons. With regular upkeep, your land remains safe, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing year-round. It’s this peace of mind that has made Acreage Mowing Services in Brisbane a go-to solution for landowners.
Custom Solutions for Every Property Size
No two properties are the same. Some acreage blocks may have flat fields, while others include trees, gardens, dams, and even livestock fencing. A good mowing service will assess the property before the first mow to determine the best equipment and mowing schedule. Whether you need fortnightly trims or a seasonal cutback, these services are tailored to fit your land’s exact requirements. That’s why more people are trusting local experts who specialise in Acreage Mowing Services in Brisbane.
Service Areas That Benefit Most
Many Brisbane outer suburbs and nearby regions see frequent demand for acreage mowing. Suburbs such as Wacol, Greenbank, Bellbowrie, Anstead, and Samford Valley all feature larger properties that require frequent care. Acreage owners in these regions often battle thick overgrowth, especially during the warmer months. Professionals covering these areas come prepared with tools for any terrain. The expansion of acreage developments in the Greater Brisbane region only adds to the rising need for professional Acreage Mowing Services in Brisbane.
Expertise You Can Rely On
When choosing a mowing provider, experience matters. A skilled team doesn’t just mow — they know how to properly trim around trees, fences, driveways, and garden beds. They understand how different grasses behave across seasons and apply that knowledge for optimal results. In Brisbane’s subtropical climate, grass can grow quickly after rainfall. Without proper care, properties can become overgrown in a matter of weeks. Reliable mowing services stay ahead of this curve, ensuring your land is always neat. This level of service has made Acreage Mowing Services in Brisbane a vital part of property maintenance across the region.
Sustainable Lawn Management Practices
Professionals today don’t just cut grass — they also help landowners make sustainable choices. Many use mulching mowers that recycle grass back into the soil, improving nutrient levels and reducing the need for fertiliser. Others offer green waste removal, composting services, and weed control treatments that are safe for pets and livestock. These environmentally friendly options align with Brisbane’s growing focus on sustainable living, making Acreage Mowing Services in Brisbane both practical and eco-conscious.
Seasonal and Emergency Call-Out Services
Brisbane experiences variable weather patterns, with sudden downpours leading to rapid grass growth. During the storm season, properties can quickly become unmanageable. Many professional mowing teams offer emergency and seasonal services to handle overgrowth before it becomes a hazard. Whether you’re preparing your land for storm season, fire season, or simply spring rejuvenation, expert Acreage Mowing Services in Brisbane are available to keep your property under control.
Peace of Mind for Landlords and Property Managers
If you manage an investment property or holiday home, maintaining the yard from afar can be a challenge. Hiring a mowing service ensures the land remains in good condition without your physical presence. It adds value to the property, helps meet local council regulations, and avoids fines from unkempt vegetation. For landlords, this is a cost-effective way to protect their investment and keep tenants happy. This reliability is why landlords across Queensland are increasingly relying on Acreage Mowing Services in Brisbane.

Blocked Drain Plumber: Your 2025 Guide to Fast Fixes, Permanent Solutions & What to Expect
It’s a scenario no one wants: the water in your sink or shower stubbornly refusing to go down, that ominous gurgle from the toilet signalling an impending overflow, or the unpleasant smell that suddenly permeates your home. A blocked drain isn't just an inconvenience; it's a smelly, messy, and potentially damaging emergency that can throw your entire day into chaos, especially here in Brisbane where our lifestyle often revolves around our homes and businesses.
When faced with this, you need a reliable Blocked Drain Plumber—and fast. But what can you expect? Will that stubborn clog just disappear on its own? What magic do plumbers actually use? And how can you stop it from happening again? This guide will answer your most pressing questions and help you get things flowing smoothly once more.
Wishful Thinking vs. Reality: That Clog Isn't Going Anywhere
Let's address the first question on many Brisbane residents' minds when faced with a slow drain: "Will a clogged drain go away on its own?"
In a word: no. While a very minor, temporary slowdown might seem to improve slightly, a genuine blockage is a physical obstruction. Ignoring it is like hoping a jacaranda will bloom in winter – it’s just not going to happen. In reality, the problem usually gets worse. Continued use of the drain will likely compact the blockage, making it harder to remove. Water pressure can build up behind the clog, potentially leading to leaks in your pipework, water damage to your property, and even more unpleasant sewage backups. The sooner you address it, the better.
The Usual Suspects: What's Really Blocking Your Drains?
Understanding what causes blockages is the first step in prevention and choosing the right approach for clogged drain repair in your Brisbane home. Here are the most common culprits:
Grease, Fats, and Oils: Poured down the kitchen sink, these liquid fats cool and solidify further down the pipes, creating sticky, stubborn blockages that other debris then clings to.
Hair: A major offender in bathroom sinks, showers, and baths. Hair binds with soap scum and other particles to form dense clumps.
Food Scraps: Even with a waste disposal unit, certain food items (like coffee grounds, pasta, and fibrous vegetables) can contribute to blockages over time.
"Flushable" Wipes & Sanitary Products: Despite what the packaging might say, most wipes and all sanitary products do not break down in our plumbing systems like toilet paper does. They are a leading cause of blocked toilet plumber call-outs across Brisbane.
Foreign Objects: Small children’s toys, soap bars, cotton buds, and even cat litter can find their way into drains and cause significant obstructions.
Tree Roots: For older Brisbane properties with ceramic pipes, tree roots seeking moisture are notorious invaders of main sewer lines, causing serious and widespread blockages.
Poor Pipe Installation or Damage: Sometimes the issue is with the pipes themselves – collapsed sections, misaligned joints, or insufficient fall can all lead to recurring blockages.
Beyond the Plunger: The Pro's Toolkit Revealed
When you call a professional Blocked Drain Plumber, you’re getting more than just a bit of elbow grease. So, what do plumbers use to unblock drains, tackling everything from old Queenslander pipes to modern apartment complexes across Brisbane? They come equipped with a range of specialised tools and techniques:
Professional-Grade Plungers & Hand Augers (Snakes): For minor, localised clogs near the drain opening, these manual tools can sometimes dislodge the blockage.
Motorised Drain Augers (Electric Eels): These are powerful, flexible tools with rotating heads that can cut through tougher blockages, including small tree roots, further down the pipe system.
Hydro-Jetting Equipment: This is a game-changer for serious blockages and for thorough drain cleaning services. High-pressure water jets (often up to 4000 PSI or more) are sent down the pipes, scouring away grease, scale, debris, and even cutting through dense tree root masses. These drain jetting services leave pipes exceptionally clean.
CCTV Drain Cameras: Essential for accurate diagnosis. A small, waterproof camera is fed into the drain, allowing the plumber to see exactly what’s causing the blockage, where it’s located, and the overall condition of your pipes. A CCTV drain inspection takes the guesswork out of the equation.
How Long Will You Be Waiting? Setting Realistic Timeframes
When your drain is blocked in your Brisbane home, time is of the essence. A common concern is, "How long does it take a plumber to unblock a drain?" The answer, frustratingly, is "it depends."
Simple, Accessible Clogs: If it’s a straightforward blockage in a sink trap or a toilet, a Brisbane plumber might have it cleared within 30 minutes to an hour.
More Stubborn or Deeper Blockages: If the blockage is further down the line or more compacted, requiring motorised augers or some hydro-jetting, it could take 1-3 hours.
Major Blockages & Investigations: If you’re dealing with severe tree root intrusion in the main sewer line, a collapsed pipe, or if extensive CCTV investigation is needed to pinpoint the problem, the job could take several hours, potentially half a day or even longer if excavation is required.
A good plumber will usually give you an estimated timeframe after an initial assessment. Remember, a slightly longer time spent on proper diagnosis (especially with CCTV) often leads to a more effective and lasting solution. When it's an emergency, look for services offering emergency drain unblocking.
The Short Answer? Yes! Why a Plumber is Your Best Bet
So, back to a fundamental question: "Can a plumber unclog a drain?" A resounding YES! That’s a core part of their expertise.
A professional Blocked Drain Plumber doesn't just blindly poke around. They use a systematic approach:
Accurate Diagnosis: They’ll ask questions and often use tools like CCTV cameras to understand the cause and location of the blockage, not just treat the symptom.
Correct Tools & Techniques: Based on the diagnosis, they’ll select the right equipment for that specific type of blockage and your type of pipework.
Safe & Effective Clearing: Their aim is to fully remove the obstruction without causing any damage to your pipes.
Testing & Advice: Once cleared, they’ll test the drain to ensure proper flow and can offer valuable advice on how to prevent future blockages in your Brisbane property.
Beyond a Quick Fix: Aiming for Permanently Clear Drains
While a plumber can almost always clear a blockage, the real question for many Brisbane residents is, "How do you permanently unclog a drain?" A truly "permanent" solution involves addressing the underlying root cause of the blockage.
For Grease Build-up: While hydro-jetting provides an excellent clean, preventing future build-up requires better kitchen habits (scrape plates, never pour fats down the sink) and potentially scheduled professional drain cleaning services.
For Tree Roots: Cutting out roots provides immediate relief, but they will grow back if the pipe remains cracked or damaged. A permanent solution might involve advice on pipe relining (creating a new pipe within the old one) or localised pipe replacement – common needs in some older, leafy Brisbane suburbs. This often follows a comprehensive sewer drain cleaning.
For Damaged or Misaligned Pipes: A CCTV inspection will reveal these structural issues. The only permanent fix is to repair or replace the affected section of pipework.
Emphasising preventative drain maintenance and understanding the cause is key to long-term relief.
Know Your Limits: When DIY Becomes a Drain Disaster
It's tempting to reach for that bottle of chemical drain cleaner from the local hardware store or have a go with a cheap drain snake. For very minor, occasional clogs in your Brisbane home (like a slow-draining sink after a few days), a bit of hot water or a plunger might offer temporary relief.
However, it's crucial to know when to call in a professional Blocked Drain Plumber. Here are the signs:
Recurring blockages despite your DIY efforts.
Multiple drains blocked at the same time (this often signals a problem with the main line).
Sewage backing up into sinks, showers, or toilets.
Foul odours consistently coming from your drains.
Very slow draining throughout the entire property.
Gurgling sounds from pipes when water is running or toilets are flushed.
A Critical Warning: Please, think twice before using harsh chemical drain cleaners. They rarely solve the underlying problem, can severely damage your pipes (especially older metal or PVC pipes commonly found in Brisbane properties), and pose a significant safety risk to you. If they don't work, they leave a caustic cocktail in your pipes, which is then dangerous for the plumber for blocked pipes who eventually has to deal with it.
Getting Your Life (and Drains) Flowing Again
A blocked drain is undeniably a stressful and disruptive problem for any Brisbane household or business. It can bring your day to a grinding halt. But the good news is that it’s a problem that a qualified, professional Blocked Drain Plumber can resolve efficiently and effectively. With the right tools, an accurate diagnosis, safe methods, and advice for preventing future issues, they can restore order and peace of mind.
Don't let a blocked drain ruin your day or damage your property. If you're struggling with stubborn clogs in Brisbane, contact our local expert team now for fast, reliable service and get your drains flowing freely again!

Not to detract from your point that most dangerous stuff isn't in cities, but I used to do snake collection and relocation in Brisbane and would get at least one a week (in spring and summer) in my collection area where I'd have to remove an eastern brown from people's homes. I wouldn't go more than half an hour's drive away from my house and there were at least 6 other people in the city who did it.
I also kept an eye on local populations of redbellies at my local bushwalk park because they were neat and I knew where they liked to sunbathe.
There are snakes in the cities, there are venomous snakes in the cities. Snakes are not evil or aggressive (though brown snakes will tend to get defensive instead of flee), and they're not out to get you.
But there are very definitely snakes in cities and that's why you need to keep junk like dead cars and tin sheets out of your yard, keep the grass mowed, and wear appropriate footwear if you're going walking off a path.
Sometimes they get into your house and you call a guy who comes and puts it in a bag, but you're only allowed to release them within 2km of where they were collected, they are not driven multiple hours away or anything. Usually they go to the first patch of scrub nearby, because they live here and are supposed to be here.
Snake safety is basically if it's outside, keep your kids and pets inside and it will eventually fuck off. Don't try and attack or kill them, that's when people get bitten. Most bites are people trying to attack the snake. If you're super worried call a snake guy.
If it's inside, leave the doors open, keep an eye on it from a safe distance, keep your kids and pets away, and call a snake guy to come remove it. Do not try and catch it yourself, even if you have experience with pythons. You should have training to catch venomous snakes.
(if you don't know how to handle pythons, same rules apply. If you do, use your judgement but know that it's still illegal to harm, trap, or kill them without the proper paperwork and its something like a 75k fine)
As an Australian I love the whole "Australia is a death trap full of vicious deadly animals" cultural myth. Every place has some deadly animals in it who will fuck you over if you don't understand them; we're not more dangerous than anywhere else. BUT we get to look badarse by existing when people pretend we are. No downsides.

9 Useful Tips To Unclog A Kitchen Sink Properly
A clogged kitchen sink is a common household issue that can quickly disrupt your daily routine. The buildup of food particles, grease, and other debris can create a stubborn blockage, making it difficult to use your sink effectively. While a clogged sink might seem like a minor inconvenience, it can lead to more significant problems if not addressed promptly by plumbers North Brisbane. In some cases, standing water can attract pests and create an unpleasant odour, making your kitchen an uncomfortable place to be.
This list has several effective methods to unclog your kitchen sink without having to resort to drastic measures.
Use Boiling Water
One of the simplest and most effective methods to unclog a kitchen sink is by using boiling water. This method works best for minor clogs caused by grease and soap scum. Start by boiling a large pot of water. Carefully pour the boiling water directly into the drain in two to three stages, allowing the hot water to work through the clog and break down the grease and soap residue. If the water doesn't drain, give it a few minutes to cool down and try again. This method is not suitable for sinks connected to PVC pipes, as the heat could damage them.
Baking Soda and Vinegar
The combination of baking soda and vinegar is a natural and effective way to unclog your sink. Begin by removing any standing water from the sink. Pour about a cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by an equal amount of white vinegar. The mixture will fizz and bubble, working to break down the clog. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes, then flush the drain with hot water. For stubborn clogs, you may need to repeat this process a few times.
Plunger
A plunger is a handy tool for unclogging sinks. Make sure you use a cup plunger, which is specifically designed for sinks. First, fill the sink with enough water to cover the plunger's cup. Place the plunger over the drain and press down firmly to create a seal. Pump the plunger up and down vigorously for about 30 seconds. The pressure created should dislodge the clog. Once the water starts to drain, run hot water to clear any remaining debris.
Plumber's Snake
A plumber's snake, or drain auger, is a more advanced tool that can handle tougher clogs. Insert the snake into the drain and turn the handle to extend it further into the pipe. When you encounter resistance, you’ve likely reached the clog. Twist and push the snake to break up the blockage. Slowly retract the snake, bringing up the debris. Flush the drain with hot water to clear any remnants of the clog.
Dish Soap and Hot Water
If grease is the culprit, dish soap and hot water can be very effective. Pour a generous amount of dish soap down the drain, followed by a pot of boiling water. The soap will help dissolve the grease, while the hot water will flush it away. Repeat this process a few times until the drain flows freely. This method works well for minor grease clogs and can be a good preventive measure if used regularly.
Wet-Dry Vacuum
A wet-dry vacuum can be a powerful tool for unclogging a sink. Set your vacuum to the liquid setting and create a tight seal over the drain using the hose attachment. Turn the vacuum on to the highest setting to suction out the clog. This method works well for clogs caused by small, solid objects like food particles. Afterwards, run hot water to ensure the clog is completely cleared.
Remove and Clean the P-Trap
The P-trap is the curved pipe under your sink that traps debris and prevents sewer gases from entering your home. Over time, it can become clogged with food particles and grease. Place a bucket underneath the P-trap to catch any water, then use a wrench to loosen the nuts on either end of the trap. Remove the trap and clean out any debris. Rinse it thoroughly before reattaching it. This method is effective for clogs located in the lower section of your drain system.
Salt and Baking Soda
Salt combined with baking soda can help break up a clog. Mix half a cup of table salt with half a cup of baking soda and pour the mixture down the drain. Let it sit for several hours, or overnight if possible. Follow with a pot of boiling water. The abrasive action of the salt, combined with the chemical reaction of the baking soda, can dislodge the clog and clean the pipe.
Enzyme Cleaners
Enzyme-based drain cleaners are a safe and environmentally friendly option for unclogging sinks. These cleaners use natural enzymes to break down organic material. Follow the instructions on the product for the best results. Typically, you’ll need to pour the cleaner down the drain and let it sit for several hours or overnight. Enzyme cleaners are effective for maintaining a clear drain and can be used regularly as a preventive measure.
A clogged kitchen sink can be a frustrating and inconvenient problem, but with the right tools and methods, you can address the issue effectively. From simple solutions like boiling water and dish soap to more advanced tools like a plumber's snake or wet-dry vacuum, there are various ways to tackle a clog. Understanding the causes of clogs and taking preventive measures can help keep your sink and pipes in good working order.

Top 10 Winter Plumbing Problems and Their Solutions
As the winter season approaches, homeowners may face a variety of plumbing challenges brought on by the frigid temperatures. Pipes are more susceptible to freezing and bursting due to the cold weather, and drains can become clogged with grease and debris. Additionally, water heaters may work overtime to meet increased demand, making them more prone to breakdowns and forcing property owners to call their neighbourhood plumber Brisbane Northside.
To protect your home from these common winter plumbing issues, it's crucial to be proactive and take preventive measures. This guide to the most common winter plumbing issues and how they can be resolved will help you safeguard your plumbing system and maintain a comfortable living environment throughout the chilly months.
Frozen Pipes
Frozen pipes are a major concern during winter, as they can burst and cause extensive water damage. To prevent frozen pipes, insulate exposed pipes, especially those in crawl spaces, attics, and garages. You can also allow a trickle of water to run from a faucet in the affected area to keep the pipes from freezing.
Burst Pipes
Burst pipes are a serious consequence of frozen pipes. If a pipe bursts, shut off the main water supply immediately and call a plumber to repair the damage. To prevent burst pipes, take steps to prevent frozen pipes, such as insulating exposed pipes and keeping the thermostat set to a consistent temperature.
Blocked Drains
Blocked drains are a common problem in winter, as grease and debris can solidify in cold pipes. To prevent blocked drains, avoid pouring grease or oil down the drain, and use a drain strainer to catch food scraps and other debris. You can also clean drains with a plunger or a plumber's snake.
Water Heater Issues
Water heaters work overtime during winter to meet the increased demand for hot water. To keep your water heater running smoothly, flush the tank annually to remove sediment buildup, and check the temperature setting to ensure it is not set too high.
Leaky Faucets
Leaky faucets can waste water and increase your water bill. To prevent leaky faucets, replace worn-out washers or O-rings, and tighten loose connections.
Clogged Toilets
Clogged toilets are a frustrating and inconvenient problem. To prevent clogged toilets, avoid flushing non-flushable items, such as wipes or paper towels, down the toilet. You can also use a plunger to clear a clog or call a plumber if the clog persists.
Frozen Outdoor Faucets
Frozen outdoor faucets can be a problem if you need to use them during winter. To prevent frozen outdoor faucets, disconnect and drain garden hoses, and leave the faucet slightly open to allow any remaining water to drain out.
Lack of Water Pressure
Low water pressure can make everyday tasks, such as showering or washing dishes, difficult. To improve water pressure, check for leaks in your pipes, and clean or replace the aerators on your faucets.
Sewer Line Problems
Sewer line problems can cause sewage backups, which can be a health hazard. To prevent sewer line problems, avoid flushing grease or oil down the drain, and have your sewer line cleaned regularly.
Gas Leaks
Gas leaks can be dangerous and can lead to an explosion. If you smell gas, evacuate the building immediately and call the gas company. Do not turn on any electrical appliances, as this could spark an explosion.
Plumbing problems during the cold winter months can be a major inconvenience and can even cause significant damage to your home. However, by following these tips, you can help prevent these common issues and keep your plumbing system running smoothly all winter long.
Remember to be proactive in your approach, insulate exposed pipes, avoid pouring grease or oil down the drain, and schedule regular maintenance for your water heater. With a little care and attention, you can ensure that your home remains warm, cozy, and free from plumbing woes this winter.

WIRE ITERATION
My immediate reaction to this material of wire mesh was to follow the square shapes found within this woven wire. Twisting the frayed ends of the wire around the edges made it possible to not have to use any fixings to construct the piece. I purposely did not want to create a 3D cube shape as I was trying to consider negative spaces so therefore I cut thick bands of wire and connected them all together.
I then wedged the artwork into the grooves of a wooden post fence within a backdrop of a dry forest capturing the same washed grey tones as the sculpture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
REFLECTIONS
Video Installation - Mockup
I brainstormed and sketched up some more ideas of how I might iterate this into a larger installation with context.
I imagined what it would look like to re-creating these simple diamond forms in various sizes and suspend them in an arrangement where the smallest piece sits further into the foreground and the largest piece hangs in front of the viewer. The transparent quality of the mesh lends the eyes to look through the artwork and not be so fixed on the piece itself but also consider the space around it. Depending on where the work is viewed, the idea of suspending the diamond-shaped frames in an orderly and calculated fashion is to enhance a focal point directing the eyes into a rhythmic tunnel creating a movement. This may suggest that work reflects on the repetition found within sound waves of the oscillations of frequencies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The image on the left is a mock-up drawing of a potential video artwork using audio as a significant part of the work. The audio gradually projects subtle sounds of urban cityscapes and voices building up and increasing in volume as the camera pans closer and closer to a tree trunk. As soon as the camera steps through into the hollow tree, it suddenly becomes dark and the audio immediately stops into a distorted yet soft sound of the breath inhaling and exhaling in silence.
Wire Mesh - Iteration
I also then experimented with a single piece/roll of wire mesh and positioned it up in various ways within a flat plane environment as if it were snaking through the grass fields.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ARTIST RESEARCH
I've always been fascinated and intrigued by the local artist Lincoln Austin in the way he meticulously utilizes galvanized wire mesh, constructing them into incredible, pictorial and optical sculptures.
Tumblr media
I was also captivated by Brisbane-based artist Sandra Selig and her use of geometry and clever use of spatial works.
I was deeply moved by her poetic practice exploring the interplay of natural phenomena such as wind, sound, light, and movement. She creates stunning installations and delicate works on paper, using existing materials, forces, and spaces and transforming them with subtle changes, removals, or transient interventions. Her work invites the viewer to reflect on the beauty and complexity of nature and how we can engage with it creatively and respectfully.

WIRE ITERATION
EXPLORING MATERIALS
I had black Wire and red String stored at home from a previous project that I wanted to experiment with. While considering my genuine interest in geometry, I began molding the black wire into a flowing spiral form following the original direction and shape. I repeated the method with a second piece measuring the same length and bound them both together on each end. The red string was threaded directly through the spiral black wire and tightly fixed on each end to secure the movement.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
REFLECTION
I hung the object in various environments such as in the garage, tree, and water tank. I was mostly interested in placing the coiled black wire behind a white water pipe within the navy aluminum backdrop to emphasize the contrast.
The sculpture was vertically hung in the same direction as the overflow water pipe, which built a strong relationship between the artwork and the direction of the water, creating a relevant sense of gravity and movement.
The work then sparked further interest in water, physics, and the structures of its motion and movements. How could I re-create a visual representation of this? The flow of energetic structures in water and geometry??
WIRE ITERATION
I had these copper light structures used from previous themed events and thought about what they would look like arranged within a natural environment. I had already planned to transport other works to photograph at a local creek near my house.
I wondered if I used a fishing line to suspend these lanterns if it would give a 'floating in the air' effect. So I grabbed a spare cane hoop to use as a framework and structure for fixing to tree etc.
I measured 7 pieces of fishing line and gradually shortened each piece so that each lantern would sit slightly higher than the other.
I then tied each lantern with a fishing line to the cane hoop. I meticulously spaced them out and positioned in a way so they would fall in a spiral motion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With the help of a friend, we installed this piece into Kholo Creek and photographed all the remaining artworks.
REFLECTIONS
The illusion of these floating geometric lanterns hovering on the edge of the creek creates a direction moving upwards toward the tree or vice versa, the cascading copper geometries fall delicately down to the water.
The process improvisation gave the result an interesting outcome I did not anticipate. My original thought was to suspend these pieces separately throughout the forest. Instead, I chose to utilize a site that held a body of water to draw some sort of connection to my interest in pseudoscience and the hidden energies within nature.
I discovered the possibilities of working with wire and installing it into nature, using it to interpret nature's hidden structures and energies and how they travel within the space around us. For example, I often wonder how I could translate what wind looks like when it travels through the air and across the land, bringing it into a visual experience using geometries.
ARTIST RESEARCH
This tiered copper wire lantern mobile installation hovers over a natural water creek site.
I was inspired by Sandra Selig's practice and her concepts of space, time, and intangible elements such as energy. Selig uses line, geometry, and direction to create delicate and ephemeral installations with exceptional spatial awareness that interact with light and shadow, which fills the space. She explores the boundaries between presence and absence, materiality and immateriality, order and chaos.
I wanted to create a similar effect with my work, using copper wire as a medium to create lines and shapes that reflect the light of the lanterns and the water. I also wanted to evoke a sense of movement and change as the installation sways with the wind and the water flow underneath. I chose the creek site because it is a natural space that contrasts with the artificiality of the copper wire and the lanterns but also connects with them through the elements of water and fire. I think my work creates a dialogue between nature and culture and between the visible and the invisible forces that shape our world.

Are you Looking for Sturdy and Highly Durable Window Frame Replacement?
The energy efficiency of double-glazed windows is great for window frame replacement, and they also have the added advantage of reducing noise. Argon gas is inserted into the space that has been sealed between the two glass panes. Because it is so viscous, argon gas makes an excellent heat barrier. Because of the increased thermal resistance, less heat escapes throughout the winter, keeping your house warmer. Learn more about our windows' energy efficiency and the possibility of upgrading to three layers of glazing.
Replacing Glasses for a Variety of Uses
With window replacement in Brisbane you an can save on budget as well. Since most broken glass can't be fixed due to even little cracks weakening the durability and reliability of the pane and increasing the likelihood that it will shatter entirely, glass repairs are truly glass replacements.
Tumblr media
It should come as no surprise that replacing glass yourself may be risky. Once the glass is broken, you not only need to carefully clean up the potentially dangerous debris, but you also have to think about finding a replacement pane, cutting it, and properly installing it.
Additionally, this needs to be done very afterward since a shattered window or broken door panel left unchecked can attract burglars and criminals as well as vermin like snakes, rats, and more.
Advantages of Using Aluminium Windows to Replace Your Windows
The advantages of installing aluminum-framed windows in your home are numerous:
Does not call for the removal of any of your home's external elements.
Without removing the original wooden frame, it is perfectly sized to match your window opening.
The possibility of harming the wall, window trim, or siding is eliminated because only the window itself is handled.
The procedure of replacement is quick and simple, saving you both time and money.
If you have older windows in your house, you might have noticed that they are getting harder to open and close. You must not disregard this issue since a window that isn't shutting tightly offers a security risk because it's simpler for burglars to open and enter through. Additionally, as heat is lost via open spaces, it might reduce how energy-efficiently your home operates.

Wednesday 8th March 2023
Rockhampton is a friendly place of almost 80,000 which makes it the 22nd largest city in Australia. Many of its inhabitants are either graziers or in the supply or support of the cattle industry. Others use Rocky as a dormitory town working in the mining industry in Blackwater. Well that's the statistics. It has an airport and it has botanical gardens with a zoo. So within easy walking distance that is where we went. It is literally around two corners from where we're staying but the look of incredulity on the face of the lady in the tourist information kiosk at the zoo that we walked you might think it was two counties away. We are both of the same mindset that zoos ought not be necessary, but we hurried to catch the start of the talk on crocodiles. It really revolved around one particular specimen, the Colonel a salty type. He was about 40-50 years of age, measures in at 4.3m and weighs 450-500 kg. You can understand why this might not be a precise figure because he is happy where he is, enticing onto the Boots weighing scales could be tricky. Remarkably the Colonel started life in the wild, but was upsetting the eco system of the Northern Queensland farm stocks so they caught him and shipped him off to the Karoona Crocodile Farm with an idea he might be useful stock for breeding. Sadly he had two girlfriends both of which he ate. This did nothing for his CV on the dating site so it was thought a more solitary life was more suitable. Which is how he ended up in Rockhampton Zoo. He is an opportunistic killing/ eating machine of immense capability and agility in the water despite mournfully looking at the keeper in the corner of his pool hoping for a titbit or two. Or even a small child perhaps.
Dingos, cassowaries, wedge tailed eagle, kangaroos, Emus were on offer as well. The croc man also told us about the Dingo or as the farmers lobby like to refer to as Wild Dog which gives it a bit of a reputation. Supporters of the Dingo say he is maligned and should be seen as part of the eco system. Arial shots of the Dingo fence say the land is greener on the Dingo side where they will attack kangaroos and other plant/ grass eaters thus allowing vegetation to thrive more.
The botanical gardens were beautiful and despite a cyclone coming through a couple of years ago and removing some 50% of trees the remaining grounds were neat and rich in wildlife. The lilly lakes were teaming with turtles and birds.
We returned to the apartment and then all hands to the pumps as we started to pack. Two cases needed to go to the railway station in readiness for the trip tomorrow to Brisbane. Then dash back filling the Nissan with petrol and taking it back to Mr Avis at Rockhampton Airport. We are now pedestrians again after 4 weeks.
It will be a very early start in the morning. The tilt train leaves at 7.10am!
Another BBQ tonight washed down with SB. We shall sleep well.
ps Rather alarming signs saying snakes spotted. Is this a disclaimer? Second most deadly snake has been spotted among others.....

Is there any pro tip to find suitable snake catchers?
It is challenging to deal with snakes. Catching them is a hazardous task that snake catcher Moreton Bay performs. One should have the proper skill, attitude, and confidence to catch a snake. Be aware of what you are going to attempt. It will help you if you keep these things in mind while dealing with a snake.
• Don't catch a snake for fun. Instead, catch it if you want to research them, or you have to do it for another important safety reason.
• Don't start by catching giant-sized snakes. Instead, start with a role and practice the steps and then go for a real snake. When you are confident with the rope, then only you should attempt to catch a real one.
• Do proper research about what kind of species you would like to catch and their characteristics to prepare for everything that is going to happen.
• When you are catching a snake, don't concentrate on any other thing. So, therefore, please put all your concentration on the snake and catch it.
Tumblr media
Equipment Requirements:
• Snake Stick
• Hook
• Tube
Catching Procedure:
• Pin the snake: The area where you will catch the snake should be vacant, which will allow you to move freely. Snake sticks have a flat head that pins down the snake before it moves here and there. Be careful and don't put too much pressure. Just keep the snake pinned down to the ground
• Lift the stick: lift the stick and move it under the snake. When you try to move the stick, the snake will move, so turn the stick so that the hook points towards the sky.
• Tail the snake: If the snake is long, this step is crucial. Grab the tail of the snake in your non-dominant hand. Then hold the tail higher and immediately turn the hook. If the tail is elevated, the snake will not be able to move.
• Leading the snake: Keep the tube and angle the snake's head towards the tube. Once the head of the snake is in the tube, remove the hook. Once the snake is inside the tube, lift it and seal the entrance.
The person who can perform this process is called a snake catcher. No one should do it until it is essential. It shouldn't be performed as a hobby. Snake catcher North Brisbane has to be brave, patient, concentrated, and confident. Any mistake in the process may lead to a dangerous situation.

7 Steps To Easily Remove A Bathtub Drain
Removing a bathtub drain might seem like a daunting task, but with the right tools and a bit of know-how, it can be accomplished smoothly and effectively with a plumber Brisbane North. Whether you’re looking to replace an old drain or simply clean out years of accumulated hair and soap scum, understanding the process can save you both time and effort.
The importance of maintaining your bathtub drain cannot be overstressed. Regular cleaning and timely replacement of faulty parts can prevent water damage and improve the efficiency of your bathroom plumbing. If you notice water draining slowly or a persistent unpleasant odour emanating from the drain, it might be time to take a closer look at your bathtub's plumbing setup.
This guide is designed to help you navigate the task of taking out the bathtub drain with ease, ensuring that you can tackle the job with confidence.
Step 1: Gather Your Tools
Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary tools on hand. You’ll need a pair of needle-nose pliers, a screwdriver, a drain wrench or a pair of channel locks, and possibly a hair catcher or a drain snake if you need to clear out debris. It’s also a good idea to have some rags or towels nearby to wipe up any water that might escape from the drain as you work.
Step 2: Remove the Drain Stopper
Most bathtub drains are fitted with a stopper that prevents water from escaping. These can vary in design—some you can unscrew by hand, while others might require a screwdriver or additional tools to detach. Turn the stopper counterclockwise to see if it unscrews easily. If not, inspect the stopper for a set screw on the side or underneath, which you can loosen with a screwdriver to remove the stopper.
Step 3: Clean the Visible Drain Area
With the stopper removed, use this opportunity to clean any buildup around the visible part of the drain. A mix of baking soda and vinegar can work wonders here, fizzing away grime and soap residue. After applying the mixture, let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse with hot water to flush out loosened debris.
Step 4: Use a Drain Wrench or Pliers
To remove the drain flange, the upper part of the drain assembly, you'll need a drain wrench or pliers. Insert the tool into the flange and turn counterclockwise. If it’s tight or corroded, applying a penetrating oil like WD-40 can help ease the removal process. Be gentle to avoid damaging the finish of your bathtub.
Step 5: Extract Any Accumulated Debris
Once the drain flange is out, you’ll likely see hair, soap, and other debris that has accumulated over time. This is a good moment to use a drain snake or a wire hanger to fish out obstructions that could be causing drainage issues. Ensuring that this area is clear is crucial for maintaining optimal brain function.
Step 6: Inspect the Drain for Damage
With the drain cleared, inspect the lower sections that are now accessible for any signs of wear or damage. Look for cracks, breakages, or rust that could affect the integrity of the drainage system. Addressing these issues early can prevent costly repairs down the line.
Step 7: Reassemble or Replace Parts
If you’re planning to install a new drain, follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation. If reassembling the existing drain, make sure every part is clean and in good condition before screwing the flange back into place. Apply the plumber's putty or a suitable sealant if required, to ensure a watertight seal.
Removing your bathtub drain is not only a practical skill but also an essential part of home maintenance that can extend the life of your bathroom fixtures. Regular checks and cleaning can prevent major plumbing issues and improve the overall hygiene and functionality of your bathroom.
Understanding how each component of your bathtub works together not only helps in routine maintenance but also prepares you for emergencies. Whether you’re dealing with a simple clog or preparing for a full bathroom renovation, knowing how to handle your bathtub’s plumbing can make the process much smoother. With the right tools and a careful approach, you can achieve professional-level results even without specialised help. Remember, the key to successful DIY projects lies in preparation, patience, and attention to detail.
