when i started watching DS9, i was expecting to ship Garashir (i have followed @ladydrace for quite a few years after all xD), but i was woefully unprepared for Quodo.

i just watched Quark look utterly fucking devastated because Odo was more interested in following Kira around than talking to him, and i cannot fucking contain myself, i'm about to burst.

Three ships you like - Just off the top of my head, Buddie (Buck x Eddie from 9-1-1), Marvey (Mike x Harvey from Suits) and Chenford (Lucy Chen x Tim Bradford from The Rookie). I have so many more, lol.

First ship ever - These are all from roughly the same time, and I was only a kid at the time, so I’m not sure which came first, but I���d say Maddie Hayes x David Addison from Moonlighting, Jim Dempsey x Harriet ‘Harry’ Makepeace from Dempsey & Makepeace, and Anne Shirley x Gilbert Blythe from the 1985 made-for-television adaptation of Anne of Green Gables and its 1987 sequel. In my teenage years, I seriously shipped Benton Fraser x Ray Vecchio from Due South.

Last song you heard - I stopped at the Tesco Express on my way home from work earlier to see if they had anything I fancied for dinner (spoiler alert - they didn’t) and You Can Get It If You Really Want came on over the sound system, much to the seeming delight of everyone in the store because we all started humming, whistling and, in the case of one customer, even singing along. Oh, and it was the Jimmy Cliff version, not the Desmond Dekker one, or at least it sounded like it.

Favourite childhood book - Ooh, that’s a difficult one! I devoured books as a child (a habit I’ve been getting back into this year and last) and I don’t know if I could pick just one.

Currently reading - The Binding Room by Nadine Matheson (the sequel to The Jigsaw Man, which I just finished earlier this week), and I’m also making my way through a book of short stories called That Was A Shiver, and Other Stories by James Kelman.

Currently watching - I finally got around to watching the last half of the last season of The Blacklist this week, watching the very last episode just last night. I’m also watching reruns of The Closer and the original The Twilight Zone, as well the current seasons of Death in Paradise, Murdoch Mysteries, N.C.I.S. and Law & Order. I’m also watching Tatort Saarbrücken, but I’m trying to make the episodes last because there’s only five of them and the next one doesn’t air until January! I have a whole stack of other stuff I still have to get around to as well, but there’s only so many hours in the day.

Currently consuming - A tin of Pepsi Max.

Currently craving - Ice cream, even though it’s really cold here at the moment.

(i would like you to know i struggle with lists like this because my autistic brain very much wants me to be AS PRECISE AS POSSIBLE and i only learned very recently that neurotypical people don’t worry about that?? they just…answer without worrying if they’re picking their top 7 comfort movies?? they just…pick 7 movies and move on with their life?? wild.)

1. spotlight. kat and i have this one in common, and for good reason - it’s just so. damn. satisfying. people who do bad things get called out on their bad stuff and people who had been ignored get heard. it’s (in my opinion) one of the most re-watchable dramas out there. and man…such a good cast.

2. howl’s moving castle. look, probably most of the studio ghibli movies could make this list, but howl is the one i turn to the most because the whimsical, fun, warm vibes of this movie feel like a HUG. the growth of all of the characters makes me smile and you just want to FALL into this movie. i absolutely want to take a walk through some hills and find myself at the door of a wacky castle with a super hot wizard, thanks very much.

3. major league. i asked my younger brother once how many times we’ve seen this movie and he laughed and said, “oh man…at least a couple dozen.” you have to understand this movie is a solid piece of the foundation of my childhood. we only had the basic stations when i was a kid and this movie was on on saturday afternoons constantly. CONSTANTLY. i can probably quote the entire thing from memory. there’s something about a baseball movie that always makes me feel like i’m living in an endless summer afternoon, like i have nowhere else to go, nothing else to do. it’s an unsurpassed vibe: just baseball and a warm afternoon that never ends.

4. 10 things i hate about you. another endlessly quotable movie - and one i share with my sister. also our dad loves it - and quotes it to me too. there isn’t a lot to say for this one other than sometimes a movie comes along and it’s just yours, you know? this is one of mine. when my sister had her oldest child i bought her a tiny red izod polo shirt and she immediately asked, “did you buy this from an outlet mall?” YES. I ABSOLUTELY DID AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN PROUDER RO BE YOUR SISTER THAN IN THIS MOMENT, RIGHT NOW.

5. rudy. if there’s something i think everyone needs to know about me, it’s this: i love inspirational sports movies. LOVE THEM. absolutely cannot get enough. do i know exactly what the filmmaker is doing to me every time i hear sweeping music and someone starts running in slo-mo? oh yeah. abso-fucking-lutely. do i care? not the smallest bit. in fact i lean into that shit. rudy is one of the best ones and it also gets extra bonus points because for a long time it was the only movie i ever cried at. that’s not hyperbole. people would refuse to watch it with me because i’d always be reduced to a blubbering mess by the end. HE’S SO LITTLE. AND THEY CARRY HIM OFF THE FIELD. give me a break. i’m not made of stone.

6. steel magnolias. the hallmarks of this list are a) i have watched this movie at least a dozen times, b) this movie has a VIBE, and c) this movie is insanely quotable. this movie passes all three with flying colors. the cast is absolutely stellar, and this community of women who love and support each other is just…THE ACTUAL BEST. but also: it has dolly. DOLLY. “what size shoe do you wear?” “well, i wear a size six, but a seven feels so good, i buy a size eight.” perfection. PERFECTION.

7. ocean’s eleven. you know how i love an inspirational sports movie? I LOVE A HEIST MOVIE. like LOVE. the whole genre is smart and fun, and ocean’s eleven is also stylish and funny and just a fantastic fucking time. it has an insane cast and a great soundtrack and it’s just so GOOD. so so good. it’s a film told with a wink that manages to carry the best part of 50s/60s swag into the 00s, and we are all the better for it.

🌼Rules: 15 questions, 15 mutuals 1. Are you named after anyone? My first name, no. But my middle name is the same as my mother’s middle name? So, I guess that counts? 2. When was the last time you cried? Dude, I cry daily :P Joys of being an overly emotional person, hehe. 3. Do you have kids? No human kids, but I do have plenty fluffy kids! Five cats and a dog. 4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? I don’t know that I use it a lot, but I do use sarcasm. 5. What’s the first thing you notice about people? I’m gonna say eyes and smile. But that assumes I’m close enough to notice those things :p I’m quite introverted, which means I’m very, very shy, too, and I tend to just stick to the back a lot and people watch. If I’m people watching, it’s more how they walk or hand gestures and stuff? 6.What’s your eye color? Depends on what I’m wearing. Mostly my eyes are grey, but in certain clothing they can take on more of a blue color.  7. Scary movie or happy ending? Happy ending! The older I get, the more easily scared I am, which really really sucks :P I used to love scary movies growing up. I can watch scary shows, though, which I don’t understand. I will admit, Timothy Omundson is a(n embarrassingly big) part of why I want to watch it xD He looks really good with that hair and beard and everything xD But honestly, you've loved that show so much, it made me curious, but I tend to wait to watch stuff and then forget/procrastinate, but you reminded me now with that top 10 shows-post and I don't have any other shows atm (summer hiatus) so now was the perfect time =D

As someone who does the procrastinate/forget thing at an professional level, I feel you! But Galavant is really an awesome show to bingewatch, except that the songs are suuuper catchy and I’ve watched myself watching some parts three or four times. Disney song writer Alan Menken does not play around!

and Richard is really an amazing character you’ll see :D All of them really, I would die for 90% of this cast (and would badly injure myself for the 10% left). can’t wait to see if you like it! (no pressure though, each one his tastes!). Keep us in touch, I’m sure @seanconneraille would love to have your opinion on it too :D

I’m trying to watch The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., but I have a problem with the episode order. Imdb and tvmaze both say one order, but the version of it I have available is in a completely different order. Anyone out there who knows if I should just go with tvmaze’s order (it’s the order they were aired), or if there’s a point to the different order in the version I have?

2) When was the last time you cried? It wasn’t full-on bawling, but I got a little misty-eyed watching the film Pain and Glory last week.

3) Do you have kids? No.

4) Do you use sarcasm a lot? Not really, although there have been a couple of people who have brought it out in me.

5) What’s the first thing you notice about people? I don’t know. Their attitude, maybe? Like how they treat the people around them.

6) What’s your eye colour? Green.

7) Scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings.

8) Any special talents? Not really. Although I have been told by more than one person that I’m really good at getting people to talk about stuff that they had no intention of talking about when the conversation began. A woman who was leading a course I did for work one time said I had a knack for asking just the right questions to get people to open up.

9) Where were you born? Northern Ireland.

10) What are your hobbies? Reading, writing, watching movies/tv shows, that’s about it.

11) Do you have any pets? My family has a dog that I see when I go to visit them. I definitely count him as my pet too.

12) What sports do you play/have you played? I’m not really a sporty person. I played hockey, netball and a little badminton and volleyball in school, but that was many years ago and never to any particular level of excellence. I never made any of the official school teams or anything (and I was fine with that).

13) How tall are you? 5ft 10ins (I always wanted to crack the 6ft mark but never quite made it!)

15) Dream job? I always wanted to be an archaeologist when I was kid (no, not because of Indiana Jones!), and that still appeals, but I’ve always been interested in psychology and writing too. I like learning things about the past and digging beneath the surface and discovering what makes people the way they are.
