Modern Home Renovation
Hi, everyone! How are you doing? This week has been wonderful so far. The weather is perfect – not too warm but still sunny – and I am learning to slow down a little as summer unfolds…
I am very happy to be featuring Spaces Renewed on Home Bunch again (make sure to see their other projects below). This is not the type of home I usually post on the blog – it’s certainly more modern/contemporary, but I was very intrigued by the story behind it and decided to share it with you. I feel that we can all learn a thing of two from what once was a nightmare for the homeowners and finally became their dream home. This talented builder shares more details below:
“Originally, this coastal gem was a builder basic gone wrong. Outdated and low-end finishes were combined with code violations and install short cuts. A choppy floor plan and dark halls and stairs all led this homeowner to want to start over with a totally new vision and design plan. Through innovated space planning, thoughtful finish choices and deliberate incorporation of outdoor space, we turned this home into an open concept, light and bright modern marvel.” – Marshall & Beth Booth for Spaces Renewed.

  Modern Home Renovation
This San Diego, California home looks more modern and updated thanks to a few changes, which includes as fresh coat of paint color.
Stucco Paint Color
White Stucco Paint Color: “Dunn Edwards Cool December”.
Kitchen
“The kitchen combines matte finish countertops and slab doors, with accent slimline metal accent cabinet door fronts. White high-gloss glass backsplash tiles offer a stark contrast with the more muted tones and textures and creates an interesting light palette in the space.” – Spaces Renewed.
Countertop: Morning Frost Quartz.
Island Eating Area
“The dual tone counters each have waterfall edges on all sides continuing to clean and well-defined lines. The sitting area counter color brings in warmth, which pulls in the natural wood floors and also adds a new layer to the otherwise stark white and stainless steel kitchen. The Miele appliance package is perfect partner for the modern kitchen. Hidden storage solutions throughout the kitchen keep the counters clean and clear of clutter. A breakfast cabinet that hides blenders, juicers, and coffee makers. Pull outs racks contain all spices, oils and stove top utensils. Pull out pantry trays and extra deep drawers hold all the pot, pans and daily goods.” – Spaces Renewed.
Kitchen Island Dimensions: Prep space: 96” length x 48” width. Attached seating: 63” length x 32” width.

Kitchen Faucet: Delta Trinsic Pull Out Spray Kitchen Faucet Stainless.
Kitchen Sink: here – similar.
Cabinet Hardware: Top Knobs Pull Chrome.
Open & Airy
“The open concept we used at the main level combined the kitchen, dining room, and 2 separate seating areas, all in one great space with sweeping ocean views. Even though each space is connected, the areas are well defined and are full of purpose. We deliberate on space planning and floor plan creation to ensure that ‘open concept’ is still refined and dignified. Nana Wall Door systems were used in the kitchen, family, dining areas and master bedroom in order to bring in the view and create the ideal indoor/outdoor living experiences. At the coast, we needed to use a product that could withstand the weathering, as well as offer superior clear openings, access to the numerous patios, and the cleanest site lines possible. This door system was the perfect complement to this amazing home.” – Spaces Renewed.
Interior Paint Color: Dunn Edwards “Cool December” at all walls (added a bit more white to the formula for the ceiling).
Outdoor Living
“Outdoor living spaces are the pride of San Diego! The large format porcelain tiles are neutral in color with a concrete like finish. This product offers superior durability and a seamless visual transition in and out of the home. The large glass door systems have low thresholds to continue the theme of visual openness and easy access to the outdoors.” – Spaces Renewed.
Tile: here & here – similar.
Modern Outdoor Sofas: here, here, here, here, here, here & here.
Planter: here – similar.
Hardwood Flooring
Wood throughout: Monarch Plank, Windsor collection, Bradfield color – similar here – Others: here, here & here.
Staircase
“The stairwell had angled landings and closed in tread and risers. This created a dark and cramped pathways 4 flights high! We opened up the staircase to add floating treads and straighten out every angled landing. This design detail reinforces the modern feel throughout, as well as creating more light and space to maneuver.” – Spaces Renewed.
Window Treatment: Stair windows/Master Bath window: Adhesive Privacy Window Film, Prism Mosaic.
Guest Bedroom
Bedroom Paint Color: Cool December by Dunn Edwards.
Bed: West Elm – Others: here, here, here & here.
Nightstands: West Elm.
Dresser: West Elm.
Bedding: West Elm.
Guest Bathroom
“The warm wood porcelain tiles flow seamlessly from the floor into the shower, creating visual connection and openness. The stark white wall tiles, counters and cabinets are clean, bright and modern. Lighted mirror, chrome fixtures and frameless glass shower enclosure complete this space.” – Spaces Renewed.
Countertop: Morning Frost Quartz.
Faucet: Delta.
Floor & Pan Tile: DalTile Saddle Brook Oak Trail – Others: here, here & here.
Wall Tile: DalTile Composition Gesso – Other Beautiful Tiles: here, here, here, here, here & here.
Master Bathroom
“This master bath retreat combines matte stainless fixtures and accents with natural bamboo cabinets creating a space full of interest. The cabinets are wall hung which opens the floor space, making the room feel bigger. The Japanese stainless soaking tub was chosen for both the unique metal finish, as well as the special size, fitting perfectly in this small space. The shower pan mirrors the tub, by using stainless steel mosaic tiles. The shower wall tile wraps into the toilet room, bringing in floor to ceiling interest and texture. A trough sink allows for two faucets, while keeping the counter free from the visual clutter of two separate sinks in this small space. ” – Spaces Renewed.
Faucets: Brizo Odin Wall Mount Chrome.
Wall & Floor Tile: Portfolio, White PF02 12×24.
Countertop: Morning Frost Quartz.
Tub: Signature Hardware – Others: here & here.

Gorgeous Modern Indian Villas With Courtyards
These two stunning modern Indian villas, created by architect Moriq, each feature peaceful courtyard designs within them. One has a combination of green space and a multi textured floor, which acts as a border of privacy between the entryway to the home and the main family living area. The second features a pivotal water body that greets the family when they come home, and welcomes in guests. A connective bridge between living volumes on the the first floor overlooks the reflection pool and lawn, and a projector screen that provides outdoor entertainment. The two tours also feature impressive interior spaces that are steeped in contemporary elegant luxury.
Villa number one is located in Hyderabad, with an area of 7500 square feet. The build follows the traditional Hindu Vastu shastra system of architecture, and has been fashioned to fit a single family. The linear north facing plot has an open plot to the south; neighbours are at home on the east & west sides. A simple white concrete modern home exterior guards the hidden luxuries within.
Just outside of the front gate, there is a boulder with the name of the house upon it, written in Hindi. The name given to the house is ‘Shanti Dham’, meaning ‘a peaceful holy place’.
Once beyond the gates it is clear to see why the home is thought a peaceful and holy place for the homeowners. A combination of simplicity and understated luxury shapes the home, and allows the family to remain grounded and be close to nature. It is a direct translation of the personality of the well travelled and elegant couple.
A tree from the neighbour’s compound has been integrated into the landscape design.
The main feature of the home is the modern courtyard design that lies between the front yard and the living room. Because this is a north facing plot by vaastu principles, the living space had to be placed to the north east side. Any entry from the north east side would encroach on the family’s privacy, so the interior courtyard between the front garden and the lounge was introduced as a buffer zone.
The courtyard design imitates the natural landscaping that surrounds the home.
The courtyard floor is made up from interlocking sections of wood effect tiles. white marble slabs, pebbles and natural stones from Pondicherry. Custom louver doors make up the boundary, composed from MS frame and natural wood.
The ground floor consists of a dining room, a dry and wet kitchen with utility and storage space, and one of the bedrooms with an attached deck area.
Mature trees have been retained in every part of the natural space.
An outdoor dining space is available for use just outside of the interior kitchen diner.
The modern dining room extension runs straight off of the kitchen island.
Roof plan, with skylight.
Ground floor layout.
First floor layout, including a living area, three bedrooms, a study with balcony, and a puja room for worship.
Second floor layout, including a home theatre, gym, lift lobby, powder room and a generous open terrace.
Our second tour also takes place in Hyderabad, this time in a home with a total area of 17006 square feet. The massive plot facilitates a home design that brings together a large joint family, whilst still providing each member with their own personal space.
The most challenging part of the planning stage for the family was to come up with a solution that would best use the large linear shape of the plot. In the end, the first quarter of the plot was allocated to the family elders who requested an independent studio apartment so that they could have a space of their own.
A reflection pool fills the connective exterior space, along with green landscaping. The beautiful vista welcomes you to the family home.
Concrete slabs are arranged in an irregular design in the water filled courtyard. The patio is lit around the edges to accentuate its jagged shape.
Boulders jut out of the still waters, and create a border around a lush lawn.
Brothers live with their families right across the lawn from each other. A semi-formal living room, complete with a bar, opens onto the lawn to create a prime social gathering spot. There is also a projector here that converts the lawn’s wall into a large screen – perfect for parties and the IPL cricket season. The projection wall can be viewed from various points in the house, including a bridge that connects both the houses.
Beautiful bespoke pieces fill the home with a rustic meets luxury aesthetic.
Neutral backdrops fill the spacious interiors, which bask in sunlight.
The neutral palette is uplifted with colourful home accessories, like bright blue and green scatter cushions in the living room. Stunning wooden pendant lights descend from a double height ceiling. A unique fan cools the air from an architectural support column.
Unique nesting coffee tables bring in an eclectic vibe, and work perfectly with a patchwork concept rug.
A modern accent chair is framed by a beautiful tree in the courtyard. Informal living and dining areas and a guest bedroom fill the rest of the ground floor.
Upstairs, identical double height master bedrooms and bathrooms are situated right next to each other.
A swing arm wall lamp illuminates the bathtub, which stands on a bed of white pebbles.
Double vanities are located behind a partially dividing wall.
A motorised sun roof can be opened above the tub.
The bathing area is open plan to the bed. There is also a double story closet space in the master suite, to facilitate a progressive wardrobe.
Cool distressed walls and metal framework create an industrial style bedroom. A Flos Mod 265 style lamp extends over the crisp modern bed. Original is available here.
A duo of bedroom pendant lights hang beside a curvaceous bed inside this suite. A modern lounge chair fills the window.
The daughters room sits across from the master bedroom suites, with a small informal seating area in between. Colourful poufs and a teepee make playful decor. The bed features a study area beneath. See more ideas for kids’ beds.
Stone tiles texture the powder room.
The staircase design follows the industrial trend.
The bridge walkway that connects the first floors is furnished with inviting soft sofas, which make a sociable evening tea spot for members of the extended family.
Exterior lighting keeps the volumes connected by night.
Potted plants colour the white concrete exterior space.
Floor plans.

Beautiful Homes of Instagram Our “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” is going all the way to Australia today! I can’t tell you enough how much I love that country! I have many amazing readers from there and have even had some clients from Australia and because of that, this new “BHI” feels extra special for me. Sharing Ali’s, from @urban_farmhouse_build, stunning newly built home will be a treat for all of us! Ali and I have been talking about this feature for some time now. You guys have no idea how hard she worked to have her house ready. She really wanted the pictures to be good and she did all she could to make the home look amazing. I honestly can’t thank her enough. The feature couldn’t get any better, Ali! As you will see, the soothing color palette makes Ali’s entire home feel calm, serene and stress-free and who wouldn’t love to live in a place that has this kind of feeling? Read on to know more about this talented homeowner and her inspiring home. “My name is Ali and I was so delighted when Luciane invited me to share our home with you on Home Bunch. I have always loved interior design and architecture, and have so enjoyed the creative process of designing and building our family home. We live in a small town in the Southern Highlands (1.5 hour drive south of Sydney, Australia) with our 3 children. We had been lucky enough to have the opportunity to build our last house, which we loved, but it was a large country block further out of town, and we found that the long trek from home to school was wearing thin. We dreamed of finding land closer to town, but that still had a rural feel and open vistas that we had so enjoyed in our last home. We finally found what we were looking for, but there were a couple of hurdles to overcome – it was more land than we wanted to look after, and it was prone to flooding. Two years later, after a subdivision and endless earthworks, we could finally start building our home. I often think what on earth we did for inspiration before the internet. Sites like Pinterest, Houzz and Home Bunch where a great source for ideas, and my husband John and I luckily shared the same vision and kept saving the same pictures – white board and batten modern farmhouses. Whilst a common feature in the American and New Zealand houses we loved, board and batten is not often used as a building material in Australia and we were keen to use something a little different. Standing seam roofs were also a regular feature in our “dream home” pictures, and an overall aesthetic that was a clean, contemporary interpretation of classic farmhouse style. Luckily we found an architect who was great at translating our dreams into affordable reality and we finally started building about 2 years ago. The build, although slower than we hoped, went very smoothly and we moved in a little over a year ago. The process of decorating has been a slow one, and is still not finished! We had some favourite pieces of furniture from our old house, but much of it didn’t fit in size or style, or had not survived the young children stage. Finding the time to source the finishing touches remains a challenge, but I’m trying to be patient! It’s such a lovely house to live in, bright, cozy and comfortable, and we are so enjoying just being here. The garden is also very much a work in progress. We planted a “stage one” garden when we moved in so as to have some instant grass for the kids (and pets!), but plan to expand on it with more beds and trees in the coming months. A small guest/pool house is also in the pipeline for the beginning of next year. John and I have so enjoyed the process of building our home that since finishing it last year, we have joined forces in a commercial venture, subdividing another block of land and building 3 spec homes. They are in a similar “modern country” style and have been a wonderful opportunity to use many of the ideas and finishes that we didn’t get a chance to use in our house. They were well received and sold quickly, so being the gluttons for punishment that we clearly are, we have recently purchased a new block of land in town and look forward to next year’s project of building two more cottages (past project photos are on Instagram @copelanddevelopments). I find that my style is constantly evolving, so it’s very rewarding having the opportunity to start from scratch and design something new each time. When I’m not designing houses I love to paint, and I’m also involved in local theatre – acting, directing and set designing. It’s taken me until my 40s to realise that as long as I’m doing something creative, I’m happy!” Beautiful Homes of Instagram White Modern Farmhouse Black Front Door Paint Color: Dulux Domino. Paving is flamed granite. Front door lanterns from Beacon Lighting – Southhampton Large Wall Bracket. Farmhouse Garage Paint colour is Dulux “White Verdict” Half Strength. Barn lighting from Barnlight Electric. Kitchen Having had a white kitchen in our last 2 houses, I was keen to do something different. I had always loved Martha Stewart’s Bedford Grey kitchen, but as it is unavailable in Australia, went through endless paint samples trying to find a similar shade of “greige”. We used Dulux “Narrow Neck” in Double strength. Countertop The countertops are 40mm honed Carrara marble. Breakfast Nook This stunning grey kitchen opens to a bright breakfast nook with banquette. Isn’t it dreamy? Faucet & Backsplash Tapware is Perrin & Rowe “Io” in satin nickel from The English Tapware Company. Similar backsplash tile can be found here. Lighting Lights are the Eldridge Pendant from Ballard Designs. Flooring & Hardware The flooring is engineered oak in the colour “Cannes” from Preferences Flooring – similar can be found here. Handles and pull are the “Duluth” range in satin nickel from Restoration Hardware. Open Feel The kitchen opens to family room with board and batten fireplace and vaulted tongue and groove ceiling. This is just stunning! Layout A peninsula divides the kitchen from the dining area. Dining Room Dining room light is the Large Rectangular Linen Shade Pendant from Restoration Hardware in “Sand”. Living Room We love the high raked ceiling in this space and the open floor plan, which helps the room feel bright and spacious. The barn doors are a favourite feature and were custom made for us by the builder. Wall lights above oak shelving are Boston Library lights in antique nickel from Circa Lighting. Fireplace is faced with Buxeuil Limestone. Paint Color Paint colour is Dulux “Snowy Mountains” Half Strength. Linen sofas are from Molmic Sofas. Pillows Pillows from Boho Pillow and Walter G. Lounge Room We call this our “night room” as it is were John and I retreat to after the kids are in bed. I wanted to make it more intimate and cozy than the living room by using timber paneling and textured wallpaper. The furniture is all from our old house which we have had some time. I’m hoping to eventually update some of the pieces, but in the meantime, it’s a very comfortable place to curl up and watch TV. Similar coffee table can be found here. Decor Wallpaper is Thibaut Coastal Sisal in “Aqua”. Paintwork is Dulux “Snowy Mountains” Half Strength. Wood weave blinds are the “le Blinde” range from Peter Meyer. Linen curtains from Raffles Textiles. Sisal carpet from Natural Floor Coverings. Coffee Table Decor I love how Ali decorated her tray. Powder Room I wanted to do something whimsical and fun in the powder room and so took the opportunity to use one of my favourite wallpapers, the “Woods” design by Cole & Son. Similar round mirror can be found here. Flooring In keeping with the monochrome palate, I used a small gloss white penny round tiles on the floor and a black and nickel “Bistro” wall sconce from Restoration Hardware. Snug This is what we call the kids hang out space. I recently purchased these gorgeous pillows from Boho Pillow, which has really made the space. I’m really hoping they look after them! Coffee table from Pottery Barn – no longer available. Concrete top coffee tables can be found here & here. Grey Sectional Sofa from Sofa Studio. Paint colour is Dulux “Pukaki” half strength. Nightstand Decor Bedside lamps from Bloomingdales Lighting. Beads from McGee & Co. Bedside tables are from Coco Republic. Pillows Pillows from Walter-G Textiles. Inspiring & Cozy Naturalistic Attic Interior Design
Inspiring & Cozy Naturalistic Attic Interior Design
This interior is an example of the case when all latest fashion trends ideally comply with an interior designer’s idea, and not the other way round. When one blindly follows the trends, the resulting interior appears to be soulless. And in this project one can find everything: soul, beauty and practicality.
This interior was designed for the inhabitants of guest quarters built beside a master’s summer cottage. This attic floor was planned as a living room for guests, whose bedroom is located on the first floor.
The style concept of the interior was pre-determined by 2 conditions: the clients’ passion for natural materials and a splendid forest and river view opening from the window. With such raw data eco-style and natural color scheme proved to be the best and most logical choice.
The project features many wooden elements and almost totally lacks synthetic materials. Besides being a major finishing material, wood is also the key decorative element.
The family includes 4 men, hence the designer felt obliged to add some notes of masculinity to the interior, but without compromising coziness and hominess aspects. Besides, the geometry of the room per se prompted the use of clear lines and austere shapes.
So, plenty of wood was complemented with metal and concrete finishes, and in general the attic was based on the game of contrasts: rough bricks and soft velvet, brutal forged elements and a delicate crayon.
The ceiling is sloped and has a height of just one meter at the bottom point. So it was determined to make most use of these inconvenient zones for the sake of symmetry, while keeping the middle of the room as open as possible. That’s why closed storage areas were organized beside the windows and the centre was designed as a lounge zone.
To emphasize the ceiling height and set the airy atmosphere the designer had a few faux ceiling beams custom-made and decorated them with metal elements. And the top point of the roof was dressed up with a group of pendant lamps instead of one customary chandelier.
The center of attention in the room is a bio-fireplace faced with brass and concrete against the background of a decorative wooden composition made from second-hand barn boards. The latter is coupled with a matching bespoke coffee table with hand-forged metal framework.
A forest image appeared under the sloped ceiling on iconic wallpaper, a well-recognized image of which was supplemented with funny golden pears. These pears are matched by a sconce that was custom-made from a golden retro lamp. Also, forest motifs are replicated on the ceiling lampshade and in small details, such as wardrobe handles and end capes of curtain rods.
The dining zone can also boast a few interesting features, such as a makeshift shelving unit composed out of common wooden boxes. It’s organized on an erector-set principle: boxes can be added, removed, rotated, in a word re-arranged in versatile ways. A dining table top is made of a dark tree slab, and the shelving unit base is trimmed with brass panels.
The background of this project is one of the favorite ones for contemporary interior designers – purely white walls. They create a great backstage for natural wood, concrete, pale gray home textile and black, golden and bright yellow accents. And a splendid finishing touch is brought by a bespoke crayon with spring landscape.

Brilliant Brazilian Houses Centered Around Trees
These two modern Brazilian homes wholeheartedly embrace nature, holding it as an integral part of their character. Each property wraps around a resident tree, which becomes a living, growing entity of the home. The houses open up along their borders to meet freely with green courtyards and gardens. The lush spaces instill a sense of peace and tranquility into the properties and their owners, and influence earthy decor schemes. As a result, these homes feel well rounded and grounded, on top of being clear forerunners in style and sophistication. Here you will find modern furniture mixed with eclectic finds, and plenty of Mother Nature’s own finishing touches.
Architect: Suite Arquitetos   Our first home is a 280 square metre place of beauty. Natural materials and earthy tones highlight its Brazilian roots, which come into alignment with a contemporary and cosmopolitan living style.
The design pushes integration between interior and exterior space. Natural elements weave into the materials of the house and its furniture.
Of course, the standout element of the living space is a huge Flamboyant tree, also known as a royal poinciana or ‘flame tree’ for its fiery display of red-orange flowers in the summer. A garden statue stands gazing toward the tree, as though in awe of its natural beauty.
The garden palette influences the interior decoration. “The nuances of Brazilian fruits, such as the rich nuances of brown, the color of cocoa, the red of cashew, the bright yellow of mango, in addition to exploring the amber, rust and orange tones, served as an inspiring mood for development of the production of the entire project, without losing focus on cozy minimalism ” reflects the designers.
Natural inspiration shapes the kitchen perhaps most of all, where a unique soapstone island looks as if it has been carved out of the very land upon which it stands. The soapstone was in fact extracted from Minas Gerais, supplied by Pagliotto, and transformed by Suite Arquitetos into this stunning bench.
The L-shaped property opens up along its full length to the green courtyard area. A volume of wood supports the roof plan and forms a beautiful visual divide between the living space and bedroom.
A huge area rug lays out a white island beneath a white modern sofa, stylish lounge chairs and a collection of small side tables.
The double sided sofa configuration means that the homeowner can be turned toward the courtyard in times of contemplative rest, or use the same furniture piece for functional interaction at social gatherings.
A deep club chair faces across the room to a tall backed lounge chair in contrasting colour.
A cluster of coffee tables jostle in the centre of the space.
The mixed furniture curation sends out an eclectic yet discerning vibe.
A bunch of coffee table books stack on the multitude of square coffee tables.
Scatter cushions pull warm accents into the lounge, each shade different yet totally in sync with the surroundings.
Foliage around the base of the stunning flamboyant tree pulls the garden inward, erasing the boundaries between what is considered interior and exterior.
A scroll bench curls a dark attractive form against the light timber wall covering.
An architectural print opens up an illusion of added space.
A custom sideboard stretches along one side of the room with various storage uses, including a small bar area.
Floating book shelves occupy space over the low built storage, along with a watercolor panel developed by plastic artists Adriana and Carlota.
Textured paint colours a feature wall with warmth and motion.
An orange accent chair offers up a perfect reading spot right by the resident tree.

Parket’s European oak frames the bedroom.
Inside the bedroom, a muxarabi panel reveals small squares of the garden landscape behind it. A comfy bedroom chair with a matching footstool make a spot to unwind and read before bed.

Sustainable Luxury Home In The Hamptons, NY
Many of the rich and famous holiday in the Hamptons, New York, and it’s easy to see why. Beautiful scenery and magnificent mansions add up to a playground for the wealthy – places just like this 4000 sq ft family retreat in Hampton Bays, in the town of Southampton. Designed for the founders of a family-owned French global beauty brand, Studio Mapos architects have developed a timeless design that incorporates the latest technology and strategies in sustainable design. The 5 acre plot is a stunning location that overlooks Peconic Bay, delivering glittering waterfront views to the house. The brief insisted the existing tree arrangement and natural fauna of the site should be protected and respected.
Photographer: Michael Moran   The architectural team strategically placed the build on site in order to preserve an ancient sycamore tree in the meadow, which the family had fallen in love with. The house was dipped low within the landscape and meadow, so that on approaching the house it is possible to actually see over and beyond it.
A green roof was included in the design to further meld the modern home with its established natural habitat.
An outdoor swimming pool stretches away from the main house, into lush manicured lawns.
The modern home exterior is predominantly made of glass in order to soak up the breathtaking Hampton Bays view.
The architect team had previously completed the company offices for the family-owned business, at their global beauty brand headquarters in New York. This time, the client challenged the team to create a holiday home that would welcome multi-generational family members.
Special care was taken to achieve synergy between the green site and the new home. It was agreed that the home would not have any painted sheetrock surfaces. Instead, only raw unfinished materials would be used, so that the look could naturally evolve with age and the salted air of the Hamptons to develop its own unique and beautiful patina.
The natural views sweep toward a wooden pool terrace, before washing through a 100 ft long wall of glass. The 4000 sq ft interior is a vision of warm cedar and reclaimed white oak.
The interior contains and eclectic mix of curated off the shelf products, alongside fixtures that have been custom designed. Pale fabric sofa upholstery, cream area rugs and white flowing window drapes lighten the look of the wood covered modern living room.
A central fireplace divides the long open plan room into two separate lounge areas. Floor lamps provide reading light by a couch at both ends; the one at this side is the Foscarini Fork floor lamp. The small side table here is the Muuto Around Coffee Table by Thomas Bentzen.
The far end of the living room morphs into a kitchen diner at the top of a short staircase. A wooden dining table with Scandinavian style chairs make up a formal dining spot, whilst bar stools provide a more casual dining opportunity.
A modern chandelier with glass orb shades is suspended over the eight place dining set. Retractable doors fully open up the dining room onto the sun deck. Having the interior floor at level height with the sun deck joins the indoors and outdoors as one seamless living space.
A white L-shaped kitchen with island is tucked away from direct line of sight through the long living room. The two wooden kitchen bar stools nestle neatly underneath an overhang of the island’s black countertop, which sits beneath three white kitchen kitchen pendant lights. Bold black and white patterned tiles create an eye-catching effect around the backsplash, with a slightly more subdued pattern underfoot.
The holiday home also includes a double workspace – a multimillion dollar global beauty brand doesn’t run itself. However, there is also a relaxation area within the home office, in the form of a cosy window seat across a multimillion dollar view.
The master bedroom gazes out across the rippling water. The bedroom decor scheme is a calming blend of natural hues.
Behind the headboard wall in the master bedroom you will find an ensuite luxury bathroom. A double sink vanity faces the open section of the headboard wall, allowing the homeowners to soak up the dreamy waterfront views as they brush their teeth. The bathtub stretches out under a view of the surrounding green landscape and mature trees.
Even the shower cubicle has a view of the waterfront, through an appropriately water themed porthole window.
Playfully bright bedclothes dress four kids’ beds in bunk formation.
A window nook has been created in the side of the house, which houses a built-in seat in the master bedroom. The side window equips the parents with a watchful view all the way to the end of the family swimming pool.
Bespoke storage solutions house all of the family’s vacation items.
The natural wood finish displays beautifully subtle changes in tone and grain.
Creating a home design that was respectful of the existing landscape was paramount.
The master bedroom window nook forms an angular feature on the side exterior of the house.
From some spots in the garden, the 4000 sq ft build is barely visible at all.
The fascia of the impressive home is unimposing.
The architects completed the design and interior of the main house, as well as a guest house.
We can see from the plans that the master bedroom is located on the first level with the family room. The remainder of the bedrooms are up on the second level of the home.

Modern Eclectic Apartment In A Historical Host Building
Located in the heart of Kyiv, Ukraine, a 180 square meter apartment in a remarkable architectural monument was designed for a young male by the 2B Group. To preserve the heritage of the host building, it was decided that original brickwork and ceiling beams would be revealed in the final finish. White panels were installed around the first-floor perimeter, with raw bricks covering the rest of the climb to generously high ceilings. WIthout partitions, the ground floor is an open plan space were the lounge trickles into a kitchen/dining room. Upstairs, a master bedroom with an attached home office, ensuite bathroom, and a walk-in closet reside, plus a laundry room, a guest bedroom and another bathroom.
In the open plan dining space opposite the kitchen, a grey modern sofa blends in with a backdrop of grey units. White wall panels span the space above them in a sleek modern look – before rustic original brickwork is revealed in the upper third.
Large patterned rugs bring colour to the scheme.
Indoor plants feather the corner of the room. One of the white wall panels acts as a projector screen in place of a television.
A traditionally ornate fireplace occupies the opposite corner, accessorised with a pair of classic candlesticks.
Windows stand in a trio of arches along one wall, with a radiator set flush inside the first and a window seat built into the third at the turn of the staircase.
Engineers and designers endeavored to complete the complicated staircase design and its railing as a geometrically accurate structure.
A comfortable reading chair rests in front of the window with the cosy radiator, along with a floor reading lamp and a small side table.
The wood and black dining table chair combination seats six diners in the open plan entertaining space.
Dining table pendant lighting, in an industrial exposed bulb style, shines over the tabletop and wine glasses.
Modern art brings colour to the dining spot, from the top of the grey built-in sideboard.
The trio of arched windows repeats in the kitchen-diner that has an additional lounge, bathing the social spot in natural light.
As well as the formal dining area, there is a breakfast bar attached to the grey and white kitchen for a more casual dining opportunity.
The wall units and bar extend over the edge of the wall, creating a floating effect. Two wood seat kitchen stools bring a new warmer tone to the kitchen arrangement. You would think this is a simple one wall kitchen with a peninsula…
… But there is some extra space behind. White units wrap around a recessed corner.
A combination of wood flooring and raw concrete floors make up the interior.
Modern outdoor chairs form a social spot out on a small balcony. A chrome watering can sits poised on the outdoor coffee table to water the topiary. Modern wall sconces mean this space can be used into the dark evening too.
Not one skylight but two open up the roof above the staircase. Modern directional ceiling lights illuminate the stairwell by night.
Inspiring artwork injects added colour into the inky decor scheme of the landing.
The upstairs of the apartment is built into a mansard roof, so sloping walls presented an opportunity to create hidden storage behind panels that run perpendicular to the floor.
Light wood wall panels over the headboard wall lighten the look of dark bedroom decor. A modern platform bed extends from the expanse of wood. Concealed supports make the bed base look as though it is defying gravity. A set of globe bedside lamps rest on a low level shelf that runs beneath the bedhead.
An indoor plant and abstract artwork decorate the master bedroom.
The master ensuite is a luxurious bathroom design with a long marble vanity shelf.
A concrete floor and concrete walls keep the look young and contemporary.
A modern home office is attached to the master bedroom space, a necessity for any young professional. A cantilevered wooden desk design protrudes from one of the window arches. Dark storage cabinets are camouflaged against a wall of the same colour.
A black anglepoise floor lamp lights the bedside in the guest bedroom. The neat wooden bedside table you see here is the bedside table you see here is the Muuto Around table. A patterned area rug brightens the interior with its vibrant orange trim.
The second bathroom in the home also has industrial style concrete walls, but this time with a wood laminate floor.
A black basin with a matching faucet and black framed mirror contrast against a wooden vanity unit. Black shower fixtures complete a walk-in shower design.
On the plans we can see how the home office is situated within the same space as the bedroom, without a partition wall. We can also see the generous walk-in closet built behind the headboard wall in the master bedroom. The second drawing in this set of plans clarifies the unconventional layouts of the main living spaces, including the ‘one-wall’ kitchen arrangement that actually wraps around an additional recessed corner.
The staircase and railing is a complicated and unique design.
The snug living room and the kitchen-diner (with additional lounge space) flow together as one continuous floor plan, without any solid walls. The balcony extends the full width of the kitchen diner space, with two different seating areas.

Shiny New Miami Mansion Under A Canopy Of Oak Trees
A newly built luxury mansion with an interior of 7,916 square feet resides at 4700 Sw 74th St, Miami, Florida. Fresh on the market at $5,900,000, the shiny new home is situated on a 34,408 sq ft lot beneath a canopy of oak trees, in the exclusive Ponce-Davis gated estate. Built by Norway Builders and architects O’Donnell Dannwolf & Partners, it boasts 5 bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, luxe living areas and multi-use spaces that could find purpose as a home office, media room, extra bedrooms or maid’s quarters. Vertical gardens have been included within the landscaping to further enhance spacious green surroundings. You will also find an infinity pool here, a cabana and an outdoor kitchen.
The sophisticated modern Miami mansion also includes walk-in closets, a fitness room, 3-car garage, natural stone and wood flooring, central vac, high-tech sound and security throughout. Glass walls provide wraparound stunning views over the landscaped gardens with established oak trees, with the shimmering infinity pool and sun patio.
By night, the outdoor areas are well lit and alive, making this a great place for entertaining guests too.
A stone path is set flush into the lawns around the mansion, providing pleasant modern walkways.
An impressive vertical garden extends to almost the full height of the two-story home, dramatically framed in solid white concrete. The towering vertical planting visually links the lush green lawn with the green spray of tree foliage.
The contemporary architecture of the home is linear and sharp edged in a minimalist fashion. The volumes of the home stand as flat topped glass boxes or glass display cases – showing all that is inside.
The airy dual height living room is open to a mezzanine level. Natural stone walls and wood cladding to an upper suspended volume warm up the look of the white decor scheme. A natural area rug creates a centre point around which to anchor all of the lounge furniture. The wooden nesting coffee tables at the centre of the furniture arrangement are the Live Edge type..
Dual height windows give the open living room a view of the garden all the way from roots to treetops. The floor level windows are actually retractable doors which open up onto a sun patio with outdoor sitting areas.
An outdoor wooden volume on the opposite wing of the house matches the wood clad interior volume that hangs above the living room. A neat bar area resides behind the lounge sofa, in front of a line of storage cabinets and bespoke shelving.
The open staircase design has floating wooden treads and a transparent glass balustrade.
A Live Edge dining table has been matched with six low-backed taupe modern dining chairs. The natural colour and material of the dining ensemble works in harmony with the lush green garden view through surrounding windows. Tree themed artwork bridges the break in the view.
A SieMatic eat-in island kitchen has been fitted with top of the line appliances. Smooth woodtone slides up against gloss white kitchen cabinets to make refreshing contrast.
End-to-end and floor-to-ceiling white units cover one entire wall of the kitchen. A couple of swivel bar stools at each end of the kitchen island form two different dining spots. Spotlights are recessed into dropped ceiling panels over the kitchen arrangement.
An upholstered platform bed looks out over another spectacular garden view from the master bedroom. The bed and two small side tables with bedside table lamps are set against a half height partially dividing wall. A bedroom sitting area resides behind the divide with its own garden aspect; wood flooring links the two areas as one.
One of the bathrooms enjoys garden views of the private plot, with huge glass panes encircling a freestanding bathtub and double vanity unit.
This smaller shower room design is a more private affair. We can just make out the reflection of a highly situated letterbox window. Other fixtures provide illumination in lieu of natural light in this space, like the illuminated mirror over the small wall hung vanity unit. You can get a similar backlit wall mirror on Amazon..
The mezzanine landing has a glass balustrade so that the green views from outside and the fresh white ground floor scheme can carry straight on through. The landing leads around to a multi-use space that appears to hang as an individual box, suspended over the living room below.
Inside the ‘box’ room we find glorious dual aspect windows, framed in wood planking. The room is accessed via an interior glass door.
Another room offers a snug space, which is currently home to some seating and side tables. You can get a similar styled floor lamp here.
A glass hallway ventures through flourishing foliage at either side.
Stepping out through glass doors, we cross a small bridge that leads to a set of modern outdoor chairs.
The sweeping sun deck can be accessed from each of the downstairs rooms via their own set of patio doors.
The backyard is mesmerizing! You could lay out on those outdoor lounge chairs all day and night.
The infinity pool can be enjoyed after nightfall too thanks to an outdoor lighting scheme.
An outdoor kitchen provides further opportunity to spend time out enjoying nature and the beauty of the landscaped oak tree gardens.
Here are a few more renders and plans developed prior to the construction by the architect.

How To Use Colors To Spice Up A Concrete Decor Scheme: 3 Examples
Concrete decor is often found within cool monochrome schemes that are often softened with the introduction of a few indoor plants scattered here and there. The lush natural greenery does provide a wonderful lift, and monochromatic styling looks sharp, but how about throwing in a few more colours to spice up an industrial backdrop like that? These three modern home tours incorporate shades of raspberry along with trusty leafy greens, plus turquoise accents, burnt orange, varying blue hues, pink and light yellow ochre. Using rich and vibrant colours within the same space as concrete features and finishes adds a new dimension of inviting warmth and even a little intrigue.
Visualizer: Thao Uyen   Indoor plants cheerfully pepper the decor scheme of our first apartment, and their greenery is set off beautifully by juicy raspberry accent pieces. The heat of the raspberry hue found in quirky wall art and sofa scatter cushions is helped along by the warming brown tone of a leather sofa.
Concrete walls are patterned by interesting shadows created by a basketweave pendant light, which has been sprayed black. A dual headed floor lamp provides task lighting at one end of the sofa.
A SMEG fridge brings a stripe of raspberry into a black kitchen with white countertops. White dining chairs furnish a small eating area, and a casual bench sits beneath a unique wall clock.
Hanging planters are a great way to introduce foliage when surface space is tight.
This hanging planter over the central prep bench has the added feature of being a working pendant light.
SImple white flatware matches other white accents in the culinary space.
Wall mounted vases decorate one wall of the kitchen.
Exposed kitchen shelving displays a gold kettle and shaker, a selection of glass decanters and cooking oils.
“All you need is sleep” advises a neon sign mounted on a raspberry headboard feature wall. Plant stands decorate the inviting sleep space, next the bed and over the window sill.
A white and natural coloured dressing chair tucks neatly beneath a dressing table at the side of an open plan closet area.
A white fruit bowl sits atop a matching bed tray.
A freestanding mirror situated over by the window reflects more light into the concrete clad room.
Pretty scalloped tiles in blush tones bring unique decor to a concrete bathroom. For more gorgeous ideas like this, take a look at these beautiful bathrooms with bathtubs.
A wash area is created on the other side of a textured glass partition.

The designers came up with a harmonious interior that incorporates bold and unusual solutions within easily replaceable decor elements.
The floor, part of the wall and the ceiling of the living room is microcement, with feature walls painted fresh turquoise. More greenery comes in the form of house plants, seen here in hanging terrarium.
An unusual cantilevered table, formed like ostrich legs, introduces a burnt orange hue. The fun colour is complemented by vintage travel posters.
When hung in front of windows, dining pendant lights can block sunlight. Opt for a wirework one like this delicate design to let light flow freely. A wall of decorative plates thread colours over a plain white wall. You can buy wall plates like these on Amazon.
Acrylic dining chairs have been selected in transparent, green and amber colourways, and set around a table with cobalt blue legs. A concrete and black kitchen scheme fills the opposite wall.
Plain white flatware and sparkling unique wine glasses fill the table.
Individual tubular lights descend from the ceiling over the kitchen sink and work area.
The bedroom is a minimalist layout.
A tall headboard doubles as a partition wall, behind which a freestanding bathtub is plumbed. An ornamental panel made of different types of wood holds stabilized plants, which don’t require special care.
Hidden within the headboard is a dressing table.
Glass blocks make up one wall of a dressing room. The rest of the space is fitted with glass fronted closets in an L-shape.
A huge ensuite master bathroom has a green and white decor scheme, and its own steam room.
In the guest bedroom, scaffolding and wooden boxes have been used to create a substantial shelving unit with an industrial theme. A grey bed and accent chair cool down a burnt orange and yellow decor palette. Vintage vehicle license plates make an unusual wall display on the headboard wall. You can find vintage vehicle license plates like these on Amazon.
The guest bathroom too is of a green and white theme.
A knotted rope pendant light snakes around the upper half of the home office, and curls down the wall by the desk.
The geometric desk is an unusual form.
The zigzag shaping of the desk is echoed by the shape of a floor reading lamp that stands by a comfortable reading chair. A panel of hanging chains covers the radiators.
Visualizer: Mottu   A black swing arm wall lamp stretches over a black sofa in the lounge area of apartment number three. White modern outdoor chairs sit by a dining table. Colour is added by a blush rug between the two zones.
A pink and white kitchen lies to one side of the open plan home.
A black faucet and black sink adds weight to the light pink kitchen units.
A platform bed seems to float in a white bedroom scheme with black accents.
Light yellow ochre closets add colour to the monochrome setting.
The modern bathroom vanity is made of concrete.
The bathtub and toilet are black to contrast against white bathroom tiles.
Raspberry accents brighten a guest room.

Warm Industrial Style House (With Layout)
This city house in Minsk, Belarus, is 151m2 of modern loft style. Designed by VAE, the interior is decked out with metal and concrete industrial features, softened and warmed by generous amounts of wood tone. Grey and green is the colour palette here, and much of that greenery comes in the form of large leafy potted plants that add a calming natural look to the scheme. The industrial decor of this home achieves a welcoming and comfortable look thanks to plentiful soft furnishings and interesting moments of strong pattern. Take this home tour to see more instances of how the cool industrial trend can be homey too.
In the open plan living space, a grey modern sofa ties in with the hue of the concrete on an adjacent wall. Though the sofa is of a simple linear design to suit the no frills decor, it is stuffed with cozy cushions. The throw pillows are the first moment of jade green on entering the home, and this colour story can be seen to continue over in the dining area opposite. A huge portrait mural fills an alcove, adding a quirky arty feel to the room.
The coffee table in front of the sofa has a black metal frame to match the staircase balustrade in the background. A decorative vase of fronds adds a another shade of green to the jade and grey palette.
The stairs are bare wood in continuation of the flooring.
The lighting options all have a distinct industrial vibe, almost all are comprised of black metal and many are track mounted. The many lighting installations and tall windows give this home a bright and spacious feel.
The Husk chair, by Patricia Urquiola, makes a comfortable reading chair over in the lounge. Two black dining chairs head each end of the dining table, teamed with six dining chairs that are upholstered in a shade similar to the throw cushions on the sofa behind. Another pot of leafy decoration adorns this tabletop.
A low console against the chimney-breast holds a store of logs for the woodburning fire and shelves a few ornamental items below the TV.
Over the table are two geometric dining room pendant lights. The frames are large and impactful but thin enough not to appear overbearing or block out any of the natural light from the windows.
A centrepiece of candles on the dining table creates a twinkly atmosphere, and a tray holding a teapot and stack of mugs tell us this is a social space day and night. The fruit bowl holds a colourful stash of lemons that adds zing to both the drinks and the table decoration.
The wall mounted television could be viewed from both the lounge and dining areas.
Moments of concrete take the comfortable decor back to the industrial style.
An L-shaped run of grey base cabinets stop at double height wooden units that house the oven.
What initially appears as a bulkhead of sorts is actually a built-in wine holder.
The backsplash in the kitchen is an installation of intricate patterned tiling, bringing a beautiful rustic feel to the prep and cooking area. More wooden cabinets are found here in the form of exposed kitchen shelving and double banked wall cabinets. The exposed duct around the ceiling adds to the industrial style.
Copper pans and cooking utensils warm and brighten the look over the black kitchen worktop. Potted herbs over by the window are useful and pretty.
At the top of the stairs we encounter two much larger indoor house plants, in matching white pots.
The landing is a mezzanine that overlooks the open plan living area.
In the master bedroom the decor is a little more dark and moody, like a cozy cocoon. Two understated wall sconces brighten the black stained wood over the headboard wall. 4 poster beds always add a sense of grandeur to a room and this simple black framed design is no exception. Inside the frame, an upholstered bed base and headboard bring us right back to that sense of cozy comfort again.
Natural greenery works in tandem with other green-blue notes here in the bedroom scheme. A nest of tables are used as bedside units, with bedtime reading books casually stored underneath. Another instance of contemporary portrait art is propped on the entertainment unit beneath the TV.
Even the walk-in wardrobe has a small succulent plant to carry the scattered botanical theme right through.
A mirrored sliding door provides a full length reflection without taking up any precious wall space in the closet. Banks of shelving add additional storage opportunities at either end of the dressing table. A neat cube shaped dressing stool offers compact seating.
Another instance of bold patterned tiling can be found in the bathroom, this time as flooring. From the ceiling, industrial style lighting descends in a random arrangement, fed by a maze of rustic piping.
Another modern art print adds style to the bathroom.
Large grey bathroom tiles back the shower, matching the grey of the concrete bathroom wall.
On the adjacent wall, subtle pattern creates a traditional backdrop behind a contemporary freestanding bath tub. A simple tree stump holds the soap dispensers.
A wall-hung vanity unit follows on with the warming wood tone.
This grey bedroom is a less dramatic scheme than that of the master suite but the scheme still has plenty of impact thanks to a pairing of art print and wall mural.
The Flos Mod 265 Wall Lamp extends out over the centre of the bed.
An indoor plant fills the corner of the room.
The guest bathroom has another wooden wall hung vanity, with a plant held by a Menu Willmann Vase.
Wall decals add a splash of humour.
Patterned tiles set the tone in the entryway.
A brown couch in the home office matches the wood tone floors.
A wall shelf holds unique planters.
The chrome table lamp is a detour from the black ceiling lights.
A stylish ergonomic chair sits beneath the black desk.
