Movie poster, distributed by the National Screen Service (#56/95) for the 1956 RKO motion picture Slightly Scarlet. The film was released in Superscope, a less expensive version of Cinemascope with a 2.0:1 ratio format. It required no special lenses, used standard cameras, had no stereophonic sound, and had a number of other economic benefits. This was at a time when billionaire Howard Hughes was running the studio.

Since Hollywood was still suffering under the code, I wonder if that was the reason the Dix Steele in IN A LONELY PLACE went from a serial killer in print to just another angry male on the screen.  Maybe it was more of the audience not being willing to see Bogie as a strangler of women. —Mark

 8. Neo-noir spans more decades than the original classic era. If we consider the beginning of neo-noir to be from 1960 onwards, is it fair to start defining neo-noir into different chunks. Something I've noticed about being in a small, 'dead' fandom... when you're a content creator, it's like the whole remaining fandom *reacts* when you do anything. I'm in a small but dedicated group of authors for a small fandom. If one of us posts after a dry spell, the rest of us perk up. The fans react. Other creators (like myself) are inspired to make their own stuff.

For a small while, we aren't just small-time creators. It's like we're the franchise itself! Everyone knows when we post stuff. Our content is THE content.
