The soccer socks

You always had a thing for dirty used socks. Especially those of Brian, your soccer playing roommate. After every game he would use you as a foot bench so you could sniff and lick the hell out of them.

But you were never satisfied enough, you wanted more, so you got online and ordered a TF-gun.

A few days later it arrived just in time before he had to leave going on a seven-day soccer camp. After a quick explanation of your plan, Brian didn’t hesitate taking the gun out and putting the settings in.

You were still lying in bed when he came into your room and fired the gun, immediately your body starts to shrink taking on a white color, your limbs fusing together as you split in two and a Nike swoosh sign appears.

Brian immediately puts you on his dirty feet. As his foot slides in, you feel like your body is stretched out as it contours the shape of his foot, the smell and taste of his unwashed feet are divine as your senses are heightened to the max.

Walking around with you, Brian noticed how comfortable you are on his feet, the best socks he has ever worn. Before he puts on his cleats, he talks to you one last time making sure you know what you agreed to.

After a long day of running and training he takes his shoes off looking at you, you're drenched in his sweat to the point you're taking a more brownish colour instead of white.

You're already so far gone after only one day that he decides you're better off as a pair of socks than as a friend, breaking the TF-gun so you can never be changed back!

warning: i am an american with a incredibly basic understanding of footy ("soccer"). there is a reason the actual talk of any gameplay is basic and limited

fernando is this new guy to Lawrence Stroll's footy team right. (because in every universe, lawrence has to own a Team.) i can imagine he's some draft pick from spain for a new striker or something like that. possibly some trade, maybe a mid-season exchange (they do that in american football but idk if they do that in footy) those who know specifics of positions in footy please let me know your thoughts on what position fernando would play

lance: couldn't give two shits about footy. he's seen maybe once in a blue moon on the sidelines tagging along, and he's known for being visibly bored or on his phone during matches. (he has the Pout Blast 3000 for this.)

the reputation he receives from fans is much like the perceived impressions he gets irl: some spoiled kid who shouldn't be there. he's more into hockey than any match his dad's team could ever play.

now when fernando shows up its like a fucking slap to the face. like. "holy fuck i didn't think they could be this hot" type beat.

for the first time, lance shows up to a team practice with his father, not just a match. but he's really not there for the team: he is enamored by fernando. his speed. he's a sly yet devilishly handsome fucker with this wicked grin when he knows he's tricked his opponent yet again, and lance is obsessed.

not only does he start going to way more matches. he also starts showing visible interest and gets invested. and he gets loud. the mumbles online about his "spoiled reputation" turn to joy. he becomes a meme of the team for a few weeks after a clip of him getting frustrated after a poorly-called card is given to fernando ends up going viral.

and maybe this entire time, fernando has been watching this young boy from afar. he totally believes he can't be with his literal manager's young son and jeopardize his spot on the team and a shot at glory. and maybe he believes that lance initially isn't interested. but maybe when he sees lance become more invested in the team, he figures he might have a chance. he just can't figure out why lance has become so invested in what was, quite frankly, a very short amount of time.

so maybe fernando's on the side for a while in a practice. lance is there, but he seems distant. not in the game. not really watching the drills by the other players with much enthusiasm. and fernando's a smart man. and he puts some pieces together in his brain. and makes a move.

he comes up to lance and asks to talk with him once practice is done. when all the other players are gone. in the locker room. of course lance agrees

flash forward a bit. n lance is like. hanging out by the exit outside of the locker room. he counts all the players. and when there's only one left. he goes inside. finds fernando sitting on one of the benches, still in his kit.

they get to talking. what lance does outside of being at games, (i can imagine him being a student but i don't have the will to kin assign him a major right now), what his favorite hockey team is (habs. of course) and of course, the loaded question:

"lancito, what's gotten you so interested in the team now?"

of course, lance doesn't really respond to this, kinda dances around the question. he gets flustered. he doesn't want to be found out. what if he sees right through him, what if he already knows, what if he tells his dad??

fernando leans in slightly, and slides his hand over lance's hip. he cups his chin softly, and slowly turns lance's head to look at fernando straight on.

"be honest, niñito."

and when has lance ever been anything but honest.

You sit with your head pressed into the side of his shoulder, cuddled together on top of a pile of pillows and blankets. You both face the television, Xbox controllers in hand, and you’re watching as Greg spams the slide tackle button as you both play.

“You’re supposed to be learning how to strat, not trying to kill my best player,” you mutter lightheartedly, making your player run in circles so Greg can get the ball.

“Well, based on what you’ve told me, this is one of the best strategies one can employ,” he says back, the beginnings of a laugh lilting in his voice. “I break some knees, I take the red card, and then beat you. Metaphorically, though, because I’d never hit my girlfriend.” Without tearing his gaze from the TV, he plants a kiss to the side of your head.

You know he isn’t wrong. Every FIFA online game you’d ever played in your life had ended the exact same way. Your opponent takes their most useless player, commits a heinous crime on your best one, gets the one player sent off, then beats you by one goal because they killed your goal scorer and you couldn’t score.

“I don’t think that matters, because you’ve stolen the ball from me and then scored on yourself.” You laugh loudly, watching as your team celebrates on the screen.

“Hey, come on, I thought that was where I was supposed to go!”

“You literally passed it to your own keeper then ran into the goal. Come on, Greg, try!”

He sighs, leaning his head to the side so it rests against yours. “But it’s fun like this,” he says happily, sisscor kicking one of your player's legs out from under him.

“What the fuck!” The injury blinker flashes over the player. “What, no card?”

“You mean like an ace of spades? Why would I get one of those?”

You laugh, pausing the game to take out the hurt player. “You asshole. You know what you did.”

“I didn’t do anything!”

“Yes, you did!”

“No, I didn’t!”

“Then why’s my center back not have legs anymore?” you ask, watching the substitution. The player’s legs are glitching in and out of existence.

“That’s not because of me,” he insists. “That’s just bad developing.” He runs around with the ball a bit, the soft clacking of the joycon strangely soothing. “How do I shoot again?”

“Press B.”

You make all of your players run in the opposite direction, clearing the way for Greg. Jankily, he runs up to the goal, and blasts the ball over the crossbar. “I asked for shoot.”

“And I told you to press B, not suffocate it.”

The timer runs out, and you’ve won. “I hate you,” he says, dropping the controller and pulling you into his arms. “This is fun. Please never actually play against me. It’d hurt getting the shit beaten out of me.” He presses a kiss into your hair.

Greg had woken up this morning to a text message saying that his little nephews were going to be dropped off at your place. They’re his sister’s twin children, and his mother was supposed to be taking care of them, but apparently now that falls on you. In the morning, he’d rolled over to face you, phone in hand.

“I don’t know how to handle kids,” he’d said. “I think I rather famously don’t know how to handle kids.”

You were a bit upset that he’d just let his mother do whatever, but that was a conversation for another day. A much deeper, more serious one. You’d reached over, brushed back his hair with your fingers, and reassured him that you’d both do fine.

You power off the Xbox from your own controller before putting it down. “It’s only a game. And it’s only because I’ve been playing for so long.”

With a final kiss to your head, he gets to his feet, wandering into the kitchen. You stay where you are on the floor, smiling to yourself. “Do kids eat cucumbers?”

You get up to follow him, curious as to what he’s doing. After washing the vegetables, he pulls a small knife from the rack and begins cutting. “They’re children, Greg. Not toothless sharks.” He’s worrying himself too much, over thinking. You turn and pull a plate from their designated cabinet and set it next to the cutting board, Greg absentmindedly dumping the newly sliced cucumber bits onto it. “Why’re you so worried?”

He lets the knife lay on the cutting board, turning to face you, instead leaning against the cabinets. “I dunno, Y/N. It’s stupid, but I don’t want anyone to be upset with me. Not even the kids, specifically, but their mom, who’ll tell my mom…”

You frown at him, moving to retrieve a packaged thing of hummus from the fridge. You figure the children would eat the cucumbers by themselves, but if they didn’t, you’re sure you could get them to enjoy the vegetable with hummus. “One, you’re a grown man.” You tear the lid off of the hummus, nabbing a cucumber slice and dipping. “If you didn’t want to, why’d you say yes?” you ask, waving around the cucumber to help emphasize your point. Before he can say anything, you continue. “Two, they’re only here for three hours. We either take them to the park and let them run themselves to exhaustion or we just turn on the TV and be the cool aunt and uncle.” You finally pop the slice into your mouth and chew. “Good hummus.”

You leave him in the kitchen, going to slide onto the couch. The boys were due in the next five minutes. Greg turns so that he can look at you, your kitchen overlooking the living room. “Are you mad?”

You’re stretched out on the couch, scrolling through your phone. “No, I’m not. Why would I be mad?”

“I just feel like you’re upset that all of this is even happening.”

“I mean, kind of. But I’m not mad at you.”

“Okay, so you are upset,” he says, distress seeping in his voice. Before your conversation can continue, and probably turn into an argument, someone’s knocking way too loudly on your door. Greg sighs, and you sit up and watch him disappear into the hall to the front door. “Hey, Aunt- oh, okay. Yeah, we can- okay, uh, can I- oh, bye,” is all you hear before the door clicks shut. There’s an awkward pause, and you can practically hear the gears in Greg’s head grinding. You know his family frustrates him. “Hey, you two. Wanna meet the special girl I told you about?”

Although you were trying to be upset with him, and you knew you’d both need to talk seriously after all of this was over, your heart swells. You get up so that you don’t come off as rude as your boyfriend gently guides the two four-year-olds into the living room. They’re both hiding themselves behind him, one peeking around him to steal a glance at you. You wave, doing your best to seem friendly.

“Hi. What’re your names?” you ask, crouching down to their level. The one peeking leaves Greg, instead scurrying over to you.

He points at himself. “My name’s Ronnie. Ryan’s hiding. Mama says he’s too shy.”

“It’s okay to be shy sometimes.” You offer Ronnie your hand, and he takes it and shakes over enthusiastically. “I’m Y/N. Nice to meet you.”

“You look like a Disney princess,” Ronnie says matter-of-factly. “Just like Uncle Greg said you would!”

You laugh, standing and throwing Greg a look. A blush is creeping up his neck, embarrassment rolling off him in waves. “Do you like cucumbers, Ronnie?”

He practically skips after you into the kitchen, and you find yourself grinning. “Yes! They’re my favorite veggie, like the song they sang in Bubble Guppies!” Ronnie isn’t tall enough to see over the counter, let alone reach, so you hand him the plate. “Always eat at the table,” he says to himself, walking carefully with the plate cupped in his hands to your breakfast table. He climbs into the chair, which looks comically large for him, and looks over at his brother.

Greg’s gotten down on one knee and is speaking quietly to the other twin. The poor boy’s face is pink, and he stares at you apprehensively. Always moving, Ronnie takes a cucumber slice, slides out of the chair, and rushes over to his brother to hand it to him.

“See, Ronnie has a snack for you,” Greg says calmly, rubbing a soothing hand up and down Ryan’s back. “Come on, buddy, what’s wrong?”

Ryan chews slowly on the cucumber, eyes still trained on you. “He doesn’t like people he doesn’t know,” Ronnie supplies loudly. “But, look, she’s nice!”

Ryan doesn’t say anything, instead raising his arms up towards Greg. Even kneeling, he’s much taller than the boy. With a sigh, he hoists Ryan into his arms and gets to his feet. Greg carries him into the living room, so you decide to stay with Ronnie, who climbs right back into the chair and scarfs down the rest of the cucumbers.

“Do you want more?” you ask, laughing. He merely shakes his head, giving you a toothy grin.

“No, thank you! I have to save space for dinner when I get home!” Before you know it, he’s scurried off again, right to his brother. He stops at the next of pillows and blankets you hadn’t bothered to clean up from earlier. He finds the Xbox controller and turns to you. “What’s this?”

You sit yourself down in the pile of fluff, beckoning for Ronnie to sit, too. “It’s so that we can play games on the TV.”

He sinks into a particularly fluffy blanket. “Can I try? Can you help me play?”

“Yeah, sure.” You boot up the Xbox, pulling open FIFA again. “Look, we can play soccer.”

“Uncle Greg, do you know how to play, too?” Ronnie asks, entranced by the graphics on screen as you choose gamemode.

“Not well,” he admits.

“How about you play for Ryan? And Y/N plays for me!”

“I think you’re rigging it for yourself, little guy,” Greg responds, laughing. He nudges Ryan gently. “How about you go get the other controller from the pretty lady for me?”

Hesitantly, Ryan nods and scurries over to you.

“Could I please have the other controller?” he asks quietly, staring right at you. You find it and press it into his hands with a smile. He climbs back onto the couch to sit with Greg.

“I’m gonna win for you, Ronnie, don’t worry. I’ll try super, super hard!” you whisper to him conspiratorially.

He dissolves into a fit of giggles, and you turn your attention to the screen to pick your team. Soon enough, you’re playing the game, tongue caught between your teeth. Greg, sticking to the only strategy he knows, makes every player he has slide tackle on yours.

“Hey, who’s the one who keeps hurting all the players?!” Ronnie asks, distressed. As soon as he asks, one of your players gets bulldozed into the ground, and the red card cut scene plays.

“She did it!” Greg says quickly, tone accusing. Ronnie turns to face you, jaw agape.

“What? No, he did it!” you exclaim, trying not to burst into laughter.

“Don’t listen to her, Ronnie, I’m the red team,” Greg insists.

“You’re the red team? You don’t even know how to pass the ball!” The player in red, currently in possession of the ball, flicks it away from the white-wearing defender, who was admittedly running the wrong direction in the first place.

Greg laughs, the damage already done.

“How could you?!” Ronnie asks.

Ryan, to your delight, lets out a giggle. “Uncle Greg’s not telling the truth! His hands aren’t doing what the red players are.”

“Eat it, Greg,” you say, finally laughing.

When the game ends, you’ve scored on him seven times, and Ronnie squeals. “I won!”

“You’re not very good, Uncle Greg,” Ryan says, coming more out of his shell every minute that passes. You decide to turn off the game, Ronnie expressing his interest in going to the nearby playground. He stumbles over himself going to put on his shoes, Ryan the opposite, calmly and deliberately tying his laces. You attempt to take Greg’s hand as you walk outside, but he pretends like he can’t see and you immediately feel it sting in your chest.

You make it to the playground, you and Greg sitting on a bench to watch his nephews play. It’s not until Ronnie and Ryan are taking turns down the slide does he say anything.

“I’m sorry. That was mean.” He scoots closer to you, actually taking your hand this time. “I’m upset and I’m taking it out on you when I shouldn’t. I’m sorry,” he repeats, looking down at you, voice sincere.

You give his hand a squeeze. “It’s okay.”

“We should probably talk later, right?” he asks meekly. You sigh, feeling bad, and lean over to kiss his cheek.

“I promise I’m not mad or upset with you or anything,” you say first, meaning it. Your thumb strokes the back of his hand absentmindedly, the way you know he likes. “But we should talk. Later,” you add, watching Ronnie run up to you with a handful of mulch, grinning widely.

The boys spend the next hour exhausting themselves, so much so that Greg has Ronnie hoisted in his arms, head buried into his shoulder, eyes fluttering shut. Ryan walks alongside you, holding your hand. As you watch Greg walk in front of you, Ronnie draped over his shoulder, asleep, you feel strangely content.

At home, you watch your boyfriend carefully lower Ronnie onto the couch, giving his stomach an affectionate rub before pulling one of the plush blankets from the floor to drape it over him. Ryan lets you hoist him onto the other side of the couch, so that his legs overlap with Ronnie’s. As Ryan gets settled, Greg runs a soothing hand through the boy’s hair. As soon as his head hits the cushion, Ryan’s asleep, and so is Ronnie.

You’ve sat on the large cloth rocking chair you and Greg had invested in a few months ago. If you’re honest, it’s one of the best purchases you’ve ever made. He comes to join you, squishing in at your side and winding an arm around you.

“I don’t know why you think you’re bad with kids,” you murmur, keeping your voice low as to not wake anyone up. Both your legs are tucked under you, Greg using one of his feet to gently rock the two of you back and forth. “It’s nice watching you with them.”

“I just get worried,” he tells you, “that they’re not getting enough from me.”

“You do more than enough,” you point out. “They obviously love you very much. You take good care of them.”

“Regardless, it’s because you bring out the best in me,” he says into your hair. “I… I still need to do better, though. I should’ve asked you before I agreed to anything.”

Your hand smooths across his stomach. “I’m really not upset or anything.”

“Still.”

“They’re cute. They’re polite. I don’t mind taking care of them.”

He presses a kiss to your scalp. "You know, one day I'll beat you at that stupid game."

"FIFA? In your dreams, Egghead."

He tilts your head up so that he has access to your lips and kisses you gently.

“I love you very much.”

“I love you more.”

Aaron - OF COURSE THE NO1. Besides social media being his source of income, he's pretty much always online to follow the activities of all the platforms he has an account on for the reactions, interactions and, naturally, the analytics he receives.

Gina - she's alwaaays looking at what her friends do. Definitely the second heaviest social media user out of my roster. Plus, she also consumes lots of content by content creators (+ an extra fun fact, but she also watches aaronmaze (Aaron's YT channel lmao) pretty regularly)

Devyn - keeps most of his accounts for his inner circle, but has second acc's dedicated solely for tea lol. He isn't the most regular poster on his normal acc's, but good god, he does like to engage with gossip and looks up controversies pretty often.

Maggie - pretty much is also lots on social media, but usually rather in fandom spaces than the very social aspect of it. But she also uses all her social media acc's to promote her OnlyFans.

Emilio - the business accounts are the same as his private ones. So, the acc's that his family and friends follow? They're also his public actor profiles. Mainly uses social media to show himself off, or to slide into the DM's of people he deems attractive or wants to build a connection to. Also loves to keep up with his favorite (and also, hated) celebrities, reposts people in his stories he considers to be idols of his, like soccer players, quotes by philosophers, etc...

Luca - similar to Gina in the aspect that he likes to see what his friends post, but not AS glued to the phone bc he values real life interactions even more. Still appreciates his curated IG feed tho.

Kaia - isn't keen on checking out social media all the time, but she does like to post pics of herself or aesthetic things. She's that kinda user who drops a banger post, and then usually logs out afterwards and comes back like, 3 weeks or months later.

Sharon - not very fond of social media, as in, that she isn't using it herself, cause she's not really interested in most of the features, tho she has lots of (usually catfish) accounts to stalk keep up with some people she knows IRL, or generally wants to know more about. Facebook is her best friend when it comes to that.

Vale - dislikes social media. Actively dislikes it a lot. Hates social media culture even moreso than (most) of the actual platforms, so he stays clear of almost any site except YT, Pinterest or other similar harmless ones. BUT! has a few anonymous accounts without a PFP, just to keep up with the shenanigans of his friends, even if he only rarely logs in.

a/n: as always, even without any spice whatsoever this little oneshot is a timeskip! I just wanted to add this because I just started writing for Blue Lock!

Life has been far too hectic as of late; all of your commitments seem to be taking control of your life, giving you little to no time to work on a very important work project until recently. 

These past few days, you have written, revised, and had mental breakdowns aplenty on your thirty paged presentation. 

Through your bedroom window, the moon sneaks across the blanket of the night sky, and your coffee from earlier has long since we’re not off. But stopping for any reason would completely throw you off your groove.

Your eyes hurt from staring at your laptop screen for so long, and your fingers feel as if they are about to fall off, but you have to finish.

You have never wanted to finish something so badly in your life.

Still typing away, your eyes scan over the last paragraphs murmuring the lines out loud, trying to find any spelling errors or mistakes in grammar. It may just be your sleep-deprived mind or your desire to finally put an end to this black-and-white printed nightmare that has consumed your life, but finally, finally.

Everything looks perfect.

Your overheated mouse pad barely reacts when you scroll your finger over it, turning your document into a file and then downloading said file, and uploading it to your online workspace.

With a deep sigh somewhere between exhaustion and victory, you press ‘submit file’ The screen buffers painstakingly slowly, the dotted circle spinning around, and around, and around until pixelated bursts of confetti fill the screen, and you smile victoriously, only looking a tad bit psychotic.

You’re free.

You close your laptop much harder than necessary and slide it under your bed. 

The lamp is too far away to switch off, so you stretch awkwardly, not wanting to leave the comfortable dip you have made in your mattress from sitting in one spot for hours and unplug the cord from the wall. The room goes dark as the remaining light from the bulb fades away.

The soft sound of your bedroom fan lulls you to sleep with a gentle breeze.

Through the veil of sleep, you feel something repeatedly hitting your forehead. The impact is nowhere near hard enough to hurt you, but it’s rather annoying.

Your brow furrows, and your turn away from the sensation. Too tired to realize that it’s not something that is hitting you, it’s someone, and they are flicking.

“Hey, come on. Get up.” a low voice says; familiar footsteps stop around to the other side of your bed to flick at your forehead again.

You’d recognize that voice anywhere, grabbing your pillow and covering your head with it for protection, ignoring your boyfriend, Rensuki Kunigami, entirely. 

“You really do sleep like the dead,” your boyfriend huffs and flicks you on your exposed neck instead, the sound hollow. It doesn’t sting, but you wanted to tease your boyfriend just a bit.

“Oww,” you whine dramatically, turning over to look at him. He looks slightly sweaty but satisfied that he has gotten you to wake up. You can tell that he already had his early morning soccer practice today due to the dark turf stains on his knees.

“Back to the land of the living?” he asks gently, smoothing the pad of his thumb over where he had flicked you earlier as his form of an ‘I’m sorry.’

“Barely,” you groan, sitting up, “What time is it? I stayed up 

“Just before noon,” he says, simply sitting down on the edge of the mattress. The old springs squeak and dip underneath his massive muscled physique, but he does not notice. “Since you have been so busy with that project, I haven’t been able to see you lately.”

“I haven’t really seen anyone,” you chuckle dryly, thinking back to your days of isolation and nonstop work. “I’ve missed you; how was practice? 

At the mention of the sport, his eyes light up. “Practice was fine; I had to spend longer in the ice bath after since I went too hard.”

“Why, did you hurt yourself?” you ask, giving him a once over.

“No, just sore. I promise.” he smiles. “Anyways, I wanted to take you to lunch, but you weren’t picking up. I got worried, and I let myself in.

“Lunch?” You can hardly believe that you slept that long. You must’ve been working harder than you thought.

He chuckles at your confusion and ruffles your fresh from the pillow hairstyle you had going for you, surprisingly making it look a bit better. “I’ll be having lunch; you might have to settle for a late, late breakfast.”

The Idea of a spontaneous date sounds great, but you still are exhausted for the last few weeks. “I feel like I could sleep forever,” you mutter, reaching out to grab his arm and pull him down with you, but his strong physique doesn’t budge, and neither do you.

“Hey, careful now; I’d hate to spill these.” he chuckles, using his strength to pull you to a sitting position.

You look at him a bit confused until he pulls a drink carrier out from behind his back with his other hand. “You brought me a coffee?” You beam as if you had just won the lottery. 

“I know you just finished that project and would probably appreciate some caffeine.” He smiles, handing you one of the ice-cold beverages. 

You take a sip and enjoy the rich taste on your tongue. He got it just the way you like it; part of you is tempted to just down the whole thing in one gulp, but then you wouldn’t have it anymore.

“I needed this; thank you,” you sigh lovingly at your boyfriend between heavenly sips. Already you feel yourself waking up.

“You’re welcome,” he says, still looking at you expectantly. His lips are upturned in a smile as he waits for his favorite three words.

“You’re my hero,” you murmur before taking another sip.

“You bet I am,” he practically cheers, scooping you out of bed. You have a death grip on your coffee cup and little compostable straw sipping as he carries you away from the mattress where you have both rested and worked. 

Come to think of it, you have basically been cooped up in your room for days…oops. 

Your stomach growls the way his does after a match and you look at him sheepishly. "So... About that food?"

“Don't worry, I'm hungry too." he laughs into your shoulder. "Get changed so I can take you to get some food. I wouldn’t be much of a hero to you if I let you go hungry.”

Author commentary:

Get ready for this awful child. The obnoxious, romantically tragic, genocidal fuckboy of the group. It should be a familiar online archetype to most by now. Earlier I referred to Nepeta as being somewhat a writeup of the enthusiastic fandom type, which could be summarily branded as the "Tumblr fangirl." And in that sense, she reads as a less focused rough draft of Calliope, who brought more clarity to that role later. So thinking in those terms, you could also view Eridan as a writeup of the "4chan nastyboy," and therefore an unfocused draft of Caliborn, who similarly distilled that role. I think there's a lot to say about Eridan, particularly as a raw precursor to that villainous presence in the story later. I'll wait until he's on-screen before diving into that, though. Just setting up here! You've been warned.

The fact that Eridan's being so loose with strange romantic terms is how you know we're getting awfully close to the troll romance info dump. It's like a Geiger counter that's starting to beep like crazy. Eridan has something in common with Karkat in that he appears well versed in the subject of romance. Later we see that, even though they don't like each other much, they sort of act like "bros" when it comes to this subject. However, Karkat treats the subject more academically, with a sort of hobbyist's enthusiasm, and seems to carry a certain respect for the knowledge. Whereas Eridan clearly tries to exploit his knowledge of romance to his advantage, behaves manipulatively, sort of in the vein of a pickup artist (and a very unsuccessful one at that). We detect signs of this here. His entire scheme with the doomsday device appears to have more to do with roping Vriska into a blackrom relationship than it does with his interest in wiping out land dwellers (still a valid motivation, but secondary to his sad romantic pursuits). He also uses his romantic insights to manipulate people in other ways, even if he's not trying to court them. Like pinning Kanaya down as a natural auspistice and using it to get her to set him up with Vriska. Maybe even "mediate" between them, since that's what she apparently likes to do with Vriska anyway. In fact, the more you unpack what he's doing here, if you understand the ashen quadrant, the more it actually seems like he is hitting on Kanaya, with kind of a backdoor approach. He's proposing a menage-a-clubs, with him and Vriska. He literally never stops working all possible angles to fill his quadrants.

The only reason I made him say "powwwwoww" is because I wanted to type four w's in a row. This should be obvious to everyone. It's worth pausing here to behold how completely ridiculous Eridan's entire verbal existence is, when you take into account his silly double w/v quirk, which conveys an absurd "accent" of some sort, his run-on cadence, unyieldingly indignant tone, and colorful vocabulary that feels like a baffling mashup of pirate speak, soccer hooliganism, and the fuckboy joker always sliding into your DMs. His eclectic vocabulary and obsession with romance means that we suddenly get this whole rush of quadrant vernacular we hadn't heard before. Which is pretty intriguing on a worldbuilding basis, to start picking up how many average trolls probably allude to each other's romantic habits in casual conversation. Things like being "ruddy" for someone, or waxing this way or that. There's a whole manner of speaking about this stuff that can only be picked up through enough exposure to contextual banter.

Okay, "savvvvy" was just another excuse to type four v's in a row. Calling myself out here at every turn. "Being a kid and growing up. It's hard and nobody understands" is another Homestuck tagline. I'm just going to keep making note of these when I see them. They will always do one of the following: 1) reference dying too much 2) address the difficulties of growing up 3) involve the fact that nobody ever really knows what the hell is going on 4) insinuate in some way that I am a buffoon, a liar, a sadist, or a megalomaniacal genius, or 5) all of the above. In fact, this entire note can be a tagline too.

it's been a hot minute since i made my intro post to this series, but i haven't forgotten! i've done my own research and delved a lot into the world of astrology over the past year. i think it's a great way to learn and reflect about yourself.

sagittarius sun your sun sign is supposed to represent your core essence and energy deep within. i'd say i feel like i resemble a sag. overall, i'm a very hopeful, optimistic person who always tries to look at the bright side of things. i hate routine and absolutely love trying new things whether that is going to new places, trying new foods, doing an activity i've never done before. i love the outdoors, it brings me a sense of calamity. i love humour and laughing, i'm always one to be making sarcastic jokes and i love seeing funny memes and videos online. i can be very blunt at times or i just say things out of the blue. i tend to call people out on things as i am very observant (probably due to my scorpio mercury but will elaborate in a future post). i would say i'm very intelligent as i grew up reading a lot, learning new things and got decent grades in school, minus the time i had personal issues going on. my knowledge is quite well rounded about the world around me. i love hanging out with my friends and meeting new people but i also love my alone time. although i like to socialize, i get quiet around people who i feel don't match my energy or who i feel i don't really connect or resonate with. i'm not the typical "extroverted, life of the party sag." i'm more of an ambivert and i'd say i'm definitely more extroverted around people i'm comfortable with. that being said, i love having a good time and i'm down for a party and some drinks. i love karaoke and singing my heart out. i see life as an adventure and a journey to have fun. i don't like being around fake or superficial people. i have a talent for ghosting people and cutting people off. intimacy and vulnerability scare me because i'm scared of getting hurt and people knowing everything about me. i really value my independence and freedom. i hate when people tell me what to do or try to control what i do. i hate when people force me to do things i don't want to do. i don't like negative nancies. when i get sad, it's relatively short lived. i love being happy and i love things in my life and the people in my life who bring me happiness.
