So, I’m not proud of it, but I’m back to ask for help again. Above is the link to my Ko-Fi account; I can accept donations via Stripe and Paypal; I don’t have a preference of which method you use. Below is a more detailed explanation of the events that have led to my current predicament; it’s not entirely necessary to understand, but it should make sense of why this happened to me.
I’m dealing with some health problems and a recent car accident and I need help paying my bills for the next few months while I use that time to finish incomplete coursework for classes I took last year. In case it’s not clear, an “Incomplete” is a grade that can be given by instructors at some schools in situations where a student wasn’t able to complete a major assignment for a class due to circumstances outside their control, and allows students a pre-determined amount of time to finish that work beyond the end of the course. I had a plan for covering my expenses with a summer job at the Oregon State University Arthropod Collection (OSAC) while I finished the incomplete work, but the nature of my health issues, an outbreak of fleas, and a car accident have all prevented me from making it work. Now I’m kind of trapped; the cost of living in Corvallis is too high for food stamps to last an entire month, I don’t have a car anymore, and I’ll probably end up homeless if I can’t pay October rent and also pay November rent on time. I’ve managed to find some work doing landscaping and yardwork in my neighborhood, but I’ve realized that it’s impossible to make enough money and also handle the incomplete coursework; focusing on the former will impact the completion of my degree in June, while focusing on the latter will likely result in homelessness. The loss of my car is exacerbating all of this, in part because I live further away from all of the stores/banks/etc. in Corvallis, and public transit here is not very good.
Since late 2022, I’ve been experiencing sleep apnea-like health problems arising from swollen turbinate glands. I have some known allergies, but they’ve never caused swollen turbinate glands. The impact on my sleep quality became so severe that I had to resort to nasal strips every night. I saw doctors about this problem as early as spring of 2022, but none of them were helpful; most of them didn’t listen to me, and none of them considered trying any kind of testing. This ineptitude continued even after directly asking my primary doctor about autoimmune conditions and how we could test for them. Despite how obviously informative blood samples can be, nobody suggested a blood test. I finally lost my patience and demanded they give me a blood test for hypothyroidism at the end of August. Lo and behold, my thyroid hormone levels were an order of magnitude out of the normal range. Autoimmune problems run in my mother’s family, and it’s likely that I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis; this disease is rarer in men, and the symptoms appear very gradually. While I can understand how this would delay detection of the disease, there were FIVE different doctors who saw me in relation to the sleep/allergy problems and none of them considered a blood test. I started taking levothyroxine the same day as the test results, but before being treated, my symptoms became so severe that my ADHD medication stopped working, my OCD symptoms went out of control, and I was experiencing severe brain fog. This is what forced me to request incomplete grades for my courses; I was trying to complete coursework despite all of this, and I was barely able to keep up. Once treatment begins, it takes at least a month to take effect, so my symptoms didn’t start improving until early October. Most recently, I found out that I needed to increase my dosage, but thyroid problems often have complex consequences, and any changes to the dose of the medication will result in unwanted side effects.
My original plan for this summer was to work at OSAC to cover my expenses while I tackled the incomplete coursework. I calculated the gross income I’d need to meet my expenses, and working 30 hours a week at this position well exceeded that amount. My duties as a curatorial assistant change slightly depending on the tasks at hand, but because I am paid from grant money, I must work efficiently, accurately, and in an organized manner. Because I have ADHD, extra measures are necessary in order to meet these requirements. I’ve worked this job intermittently since 2018, so I know how prevent my ADHD symptoms from interfering with my work. Because of the failures by my doctors to address my health problems, I was already struggling to arrive at work on time by June. By July, my symptoms had worsened to the point that I was no longer able to focus on work consistently, voluntarily cutting some days short because I wasn’t accomplishing much, and continuing to work in that state was inherently a waste of grant money. By August I could only make it to work sporadically. As a result, I missed most of the income I could have earned for August and September of this year. I was able to make up for some of this impact by selling old trading cards and video games from childhood, but that money didn’t last very long.
I was also confronted with a flea infestation that suddenly appeared in August. I rent a bedroom in a house with housemates; we tried to eradicate them ourselves, but the landlord suddenly informed us in early September that he hired an exterminator, who was arriving in less than 24 hours. I have some pet reptiles and pet invertebrates I needed to protect from pesticide exposure, so I suddenly had to move my pets to a friend’s house. I also had to re-arrange my bedroom to accommodate the exterminators. Based on the chemicals that were used, the only way I could make room safe again for my pets was by mopping the floor in my bedroom and the adjacent hallway three times. This ultimately cost me four days, and then the exterminators came back in early October, which forced me to repeat the process.
As if this wasn’t enough, I had a serious car accident in late September that annihilated my car and left me with severe lacerations to my left arm and a fracture in my thumb. The car spun out and flipped in the process, landing in the opposite lane. If another car had been about to pass me, it would have caused a direct collision at around 55 mph, and I probably wouldn’t have survived that. I realized the danger immediately and crawled out of the car, but most of the other possible outcomes would have involved my demise. I’m very lucky, but it took almost a month for the lacerations to heal, and one of them was deep enough to cause nerve damage, which hasn’t completely healed yet. My left hand has healed enough for me to use it, but I’m still having some issues with my thumb.
I wish I could say that I had help from my family, but my parents were impacted by both of the recent hurricanes that made landfall in western Florida. Even before the hurricanes, my parents weren’t really willing to understand what I was dealing with. I grew up in an abusive household; my sister and I were neglected by our parents, and we experienced emotional abuse from them as young adults. This is particularly true of my father, who himself is the product of a highly abusive upbringing. Unfortunately, research on the dynamics of child abuse has shown that children from abusive households often suffer a lack of economic mobility relative to children from more supportive family backgrounds as a result of mental health impacts. This has absolutely been the case with my sister and I; both of us are well into our 30s, and neither of us is anywhere close to long-term financial stability. That’s why it was deeply hurtful to hear my father blame me for being unable to fly to Florida on a whim to help him clean up the house, blame me for paying $950 a month for rent, and shame me for being 35 years old without a “stable job”. Both of my parents visited me in Corvallis in late July; they could tell that I was struggling, they apologized for neglecting me, and they told me they’d be more supportive, but apparently everything they said to me then must have been an act.
Hopefully, this explanation sufficiently articulates the situation I’ve ended up in. I almost have enough money to pay my October rent, and I need to have my November rent paid by 11/5. I would have tried using Ko-Fi sooner, but in the interest of upholding my own responsibility, I wanted to exhaust my other options before resorting to donations again

So hear me out, the first time Donna is close enough to reader while they sleep right? Well. Reader may have forgot to mention that they randomly stop breathing for a few seconds sometimes(it’s called sleep something that starts with an A) idk I think it’s kinda funny when I do that but yk. That or reader who had horrible depth perception and walks into things all the time so has bruises everywhere and forgets where exactly they come from
Yesss!!! Well, I chose the apnea option if you don't mind :))) Thank you for your request, I hope you like it and sorry about the language mistakes!!! :))))
Sleeping problems
Pairing: Donna Beneviento x Fem! Reader
Warnings: Fluff, reader has sleep apnea, protective Donna
Word count: 2,686
Summary: You live with Donna now, but maybe you forgot about telling her something...
N/A: Sorry about the language mistakes, Donna requests are open!! My other account problems are solved, but I've decided to stay here definetely :))) I'm gonna make a master list and rules soon. I love you all!! :))))
“Are you comfortable?” Donna asked, covering you with the sheets. Her hands trembled, revealing a more than obvious nervousness.
It wasn't like other times at the beginning of your relationship. This time you could say that her nerves were more than justified. After months of insisting, insisting and insisting, you finally decided to take the final step: abandon your old house in the village and live with her.
Donna was your first long-term relationship, and you had doubts too. If something went wrong, you didn't know what the consequences could be. She was still one of the lords of the place and if you hurt her, you would suffer her wrath, and probably Mother Miranda's as well.
But that absurd fear of discrepancies or disagreements disappeared as soon as you started to really get to know her. Donna would never hurt you, or at least it’s what your almost unhealthy heart made you think.
Donna Beneviento had many flaws…. Some of them were natural, others were caused by years and years of terrible loneliness. To get used to her fear of losing you or her completely unjustified jealousy didn't take you too long, although it's true that this obsession with possessing you was the hardest thing to adjust to. She was that way, and you could never change it.
“Yes, yes... I'm fine, Donna,” you replied amused, snuggling up next to her in bed. “Come on, calm down.”
“Okay, okay,” she sighed, freeing her black hair from the messy bun she always tied it in. “Forgive me, (Y/N), I'm just nervous.”
“Don't apologize,” you said, laughing, grabbing her hand tenderly making that tremor disappear. “By the way… What should we do now?” You asked, lowering your tone and purring very close to her ear.
“What do you want to do?” She asked back, avoiding one of your unexpected kisses.
“I don't know... You and me... A bed...” You said murmuring, running a finger along her waist.
She pulled away from you and shook her head, a tender smile on her face.
“No, tesoro... Not tonight,” she said in a soft voice, suppressing the shiver that your touch made her feel.
“Why?” You asked, disappointed.
“Tonight is a very special moment, I don't want to ruin it.”
“Ruin it? Hey…” You said, pretending to be offended.
“No, I'm not saying that because I don't like it, (Y/N)... I just... I just want our first night together to be special...”
“Oh, well, okay,” you said reluctantly, lying down again and forgetting the desire that had already begun to form inside you. “So? We are going to just sleep?”
“Aren't you excited to sleep with me?” She asked, letting out her demons, the shadows that made her doubt your feelings.
“What? Of course, of course, darling,” you said, scared by her heavy breathing. It wasn't easy to deal with her problems. Sometimes you forgot how sensitive she could be.
“You don’t love me?” She asked, her eye shining, with an expression of genuine terror. Time to act.
“Well, of course I love you, Donna... Come on, relax, breathe, breathe with me,” you said, grabbing her hands, sitting on the bed and keeping your gaze on hers. “That's it… take a breath…”
She obeyed your instructions and finally relaxed.
“I'm sorry, (Y/N). I wish I didn't have these… Flaws,” she said, snuggling next to you under the covers.
“Don’t worry. We all have flaws,” you replied, caressing her body and kissing the palm of her hand.
“Not you,” she said with a hoarse voice.
“Oh, of course I have…”
Donna looked at you curiously, reaching out with her hand to turn off the light on the table and make darkness fall over your embraced bodies.
“Go to sleep, princess... The truth is that I'm very excited to wake up next to you,” you said softly, planting a soft and tender kiss on her cheek.
“Really?” She asked, excited again.
“Really…”
Moving the stuff you had in your house to the Beneviento estate was an exhausting work. You didn't really know why you were interested in doing anything different than sleeping. Tiredness made your eyelids close immediately and, with the heat of her body pressed against yours, you fell into a deep sleep.
Even though you weren't used to that bed (at least to sleeping on it), nothing could stop you from dreaming peacefully like every night.
“Mmm,” you murmured when the light on the table made you squeeze your eyes tightly.
“(Y/N)... You're awake,” Donna whispered, looking at you, sitting on the bed and running a hand over your cheek. You smiled when you felt her caresses and yawned lazily.
“Yes, now I am...” you murmured with your voice hoarse from sleep. “What time is it?”
“8 o'clock,” she responded, studying your gaze in a strange way.
“Oh my God, I’ve slept so well...” you said, sitting up and stretching comically.
“I don't think so, idiot... You...” Angie's squeaky voice made your ears tremble.
“Angie, shut up,” Donna said sharply, making her doll flee the room in terror.
“What is she talking about?” You asked, still with problems to open your eyes.
“Nothing, it doesn't matter,” Donna said, perhaps a bit abruptly. “Have you really rested well?”
“Of course, why do you ask?” You wanted to know, taking a sip of the glass of water on your table.
“Oh, it's nothing,” Donna responded, with that look that betrayed a filthy lie.
“Did you sleep well?” You asked, giving your girlfriend a quick kiss on the lips. She stood still for a moment, until she smiled softly and nodded.
“With you by my side, tesoro, I have rested better than ever," she whispered into your lips, kissing you again before getting up. There was something strange in her gaze, but you ignored it. “You want breakfast?”
“Of course, of course. I'm quite hungry,” you said happily, as she got out of bed.
That was the first day of many others. Living with her was the best decision of your life, without a doubt. Your relationship only got better and better. Although, it is true that strange things happened every night. Sometimes you had the feeling that you were waking up, or rather, that you were being woken up, by gently moving your body. You didn't give it the slightest importance.
One afternoon, as was customary, you rested on her chest while you took a hot bath. With the cold outside, it was an unimaginable pleasure.
Donna yawned loudly, making you turn your head in amusement.
“Are you sleepy?” You asked with a slightly mocking tone. The water moved when you wanted to turn around and face her.
“No, I... Well, maybe a bit,” she responded, cupping your face in her hands. “Come, I like to caress you.”
The doll maker turned you around again, making your head rest on her bare chest again, under the pleasant temperature of the hot water.
“It's 5 in the afternoon,” you continued mocking.
“Oh, is it?” She asked, relaxing her breathing, gently grabbing your waist.
“Yes, that's what the clock says,” you said, amused.
Although everything was going perfectly well, Donna was weirder than usual.
“Oh, of course, the clock tells the time...” she said in a tired, almost delirious tone. You frowned and made another attempt to turn around, frustrated by her hands pressing you against her chest.
“Donna, honey… Are you okay?” You asked, joining your hands with his under the water.
“Yes, yes...” she sighed. You shrugged.
“Okay, then... Do you feel like taking a walk? I heard there is a meteor shower tonight,” you said, making her arm pass through your chest, surrounding it affectionately.
“Mm,” she murmured, taking advantage of the position of her arm to continue caressing you, slower and slower.
“I always liked to see how the stars fall from the sky... When I was little I always asked myself what would happen if they touched the ground...”
“Mm”
“I imagined that they would fall like diamonds, shining in the darkness of the night, and that I could take one home. How silly, don't you think?”
That time, not even a soft murmur left her lips. You moved, surprised. You always liked to talk too much and Donna always listened to you with her full attention.
You turned slowly, removing her now motionless arm from your body.
Donna had her head resting on the bathtub, breathing deeply with her eye closed. You couldn't believe what you saw.
“Donna,” you said, amused. “Hey, Donna!” You screamed louder, splashing some water on her face.
“Mm? What?” she asked, shaking her head confused, making a face of disgust at the water you threw in her face. “Dove siamo?”
“What? You’re asking me where are we? Donna, honey, we're home... In the bathtub...” You said in disbelief, watching as she looked erratically to the sides, blinking repeatedly. “You have fallen asleep.”
“Have I?” She asked, sighing, sitting up. “Oh, well…”
“It's not the first time in several days that I see you falling asleep around the house, are you sure you're okay?” You asked, brushing the hair from her face. She nodded, once again giving away the lie.
“Oh, I... Well... Yes, I'm fine, just... You know, the heat of the steam... Being here with you... I've relaxed too much, I'm so sorry.”
“Don’t worry...” you said with a suspicious look, kissing his wounded cheek carefully.
As the days passed, her sudden naps became more and more frequent. You knew something was wrong with her, but she didn't want to tell you. You began to believe that it had something to do with you, and that it had a lot, a lot to do with a small detail about you that you had never told her about.
“Angie, where is Donna?” You asked, closing the book you were reading. The doll shrugged. You looked at the clock on the wall and frowned. “It's almost lunch time, normally at this time she is already cooking.”
“Hey, stupid (Y/N), you think my Donna is your slave?” The doll protested, climbing onto the couch next to you.
You rolled your eyes.
“No, Angie. If she let me cook I wouldn't be asking.”
“That's because your food is garbage, garbage!” The doll screeched irritatingly.
“It's funny that a porcelain doll without stomach or sense of taste tells me that,” you said mockingly, crossing your arms. “Anyway, I'm going to look for her, I'm sure she hasn't noticed the time.
After avoiding the throwing of objects that Angie usually protested with, you took the elevator down. It was quite common for time to fly by for her when she worked on her dolls.
“Donna? It's me, are you there?” You asked softly, knocking on the workshop the doors. “Donna?”
There was no response, which made you a bit nervous. You decided to leave education aside and open the door yourself. The sight before you was funny and strange at the same time.
Sure enough, Donna was there, sitting in one of the chairs. But she wasn’t focused like she usually was. No, this time her head was resting on the table, making soft sounds, suspiciously similar to the ones she made when she fell asleep.
“I don’t believe what I see,” you said, holding back your laughter, slowly approaching the woman. “Hey, Donna,” you said, moving her back slowly, caressing it so as not to startle her.
“(Y/N)?” The woman in black growled, raising her head from the table. On her cheek, she had stuck a color palette, which had smeared paint all over her face. Your desire to laugh only increased.
“Were you putting on makeup?” You joked, under her disoriented gaze.
“What? No, no... I was... I was painting a doll and...” She said in a hoarse voice, running her hands over her stained face. “Oh, not again…”
“You fell asleep again, huh?” You said, crossing your arms. “Look what you've made to your face. Come, let me help you.”
“Yes, yes I... Oh...” She murmured confusedly, letting you help her to stand up.
The two of you walked to the sink in the next room and carefully cleaned the paint stains from her face.
You ran the water over her face, removing most of the paint.
“Sit down, my love,” you said lovingly, grabbing a towel that was near the sink. She simply nodded, embarrassed.
While you passed the towel over her face, definitively cleaning it, you decided that it was time to talk about those naps.
“Donna,” you whispered, sighing and bending down, putting your hands on her shoulders so she could look at your face. “I’m worried about you.”
“About me? Why? I'm fine,” she said, pathetically looking away from her.
“You lie terribly,” you said, amused. “I've been living with you for two weeks and... I don't know, Donna, something's wrong with you, you're constantly exhausted.”
“I don't…”
“Come on, tell me what's happening. Look at you... It seems like you haven't slept in days,” you said, delicately lifting her chin. “You don’t sleep?”
She didn't respond. She simply shook her head slowly.
“Don’t you? Wow, am I moving too much?” You asked, sitting in a chair next to her.
Donna shook her head again.
“Okay...” You said to yourself, thoughtful.
“You... Sometimes you... No, you stop breathing,” Donna said, with trembling hands, as if the mere fact of saying something like that disturbed her. “Every night I hug you and… Suddenly, your chest stops moving, I can't hear your breathing. You always do it again but... I'm, I'm really afraid that one day...”
“Oh, that was it!” You said, with a tone perhaps too high. “Don't worry about that, Donna. It's normal, it's happened to me since I was little.”
“Don't worry? I'm saying that you stop breathing, (Y/N),” she said with a serious, stern tone.
“Yes, I know,” you whispered, amused, relieved to finally know the problem. “It's something that happens to many people. It's called sleep apnea.”
“I've never read anything about that,” Donna said, feeling ashamed of her ignorance.
“Well, it's nothing you have to worry about. Sometimes I stop breathing for a few seconds while I'm sleeping, but I always do it again. The doctor said there was nothing to worry about.”
“Why hadn't you told me before?” She asked, offended by what she believed was a lack of trust.
“Because I don't consider it something important...” You sighed, smiling in relief. “Wait, wait,” you said, frowning, when some revelations crossed your mind. “Haven't you slept all these nights?”
She shook her head, looking down again.
“I stay awake to watch you. If, if something happens to you while I'm sleeping I... I don't know what would happen to me.”
You couldn't help but burst into loud laughter.
“Does it seem funny to you?” She asked offended.
“No, no... It just, it just seems very cute to me, Donna... So that's why you fall asleep anywhere, because you're awake at night... Have I ever told you how much I love you?”
“This is serious, (Y/N),” the woman scolded you, her gaze cold.
“No, no... You shouldn't worry so much, really... Do you trust me?”
“I do”
“Then forget about it, okay? Stop watching me at night. Nothing will happen to me, I promise. Not sleeping is very dangerous for your health.”
“Losing you would be even worse,” she stated sadly, looking for your hand to squeeze it tightly with hers.
“You're not gonna lose me”
After those sincere words, you leaned to kiss her tenderly, to say with a kiss how much you loved her, how much you were happy about the enormous love she felt for you.
“Now, honey, go to bed, get the rest you need. I'll make the food, even if Angie says it's garbage.”
“Oh, come on, she doesn't mean it,” Donna said, amused, getting up from the chair with your help.
“Shh, shut up and go to sleep, my beautiful Donna... I love you so much...” You sighed, not being able to avoid kissing her again.
“Me too, (Y/N), me too...”

Description: you get sick and Christian takes care of you (a shorter one, not fantastic tbh but I’m still finding my feet here!)
Promised fluff fic!
Link to masterlist
Happy reading 🩵
Winter truly was a wonderful season. Sure summer was great but it was always that little bit too hot. But winter gave you the opportunity to cuddle up, hold hands, and snuggle comfortably at night with Christian. Plus it gave his cats a proper excuse to find their way into your laps. But with every season, there’s a negative. And you found yourself experiencing one of the worst parts of cold weather.
Achoo!
The flu. Luckily it wasn’t as bad as previous bouts but still pretty shitty. You had been sneezing and coughing all day, trying to keep your distance from Christian to not get him sick. After all, he had a match coming up this Wednesday. You couldn’t have him getting sick this close to it!
“Bless your heart,” he cooed, “are you sure I can’t get you anything? I really don’t mind going out!”
“No, no it’s okay. I’ll survive,” you stammered, “just try not to get too close to me right now.”
Every time you spoke it felt like the words kept getting stuck in your throat. This damn flu was making it difficult to talk properly and you found yourself feeling somewhat pitiful. You could look after yourself any day but one bout of flu and you were wiped out. Stuck in a heap of cushions and blankets, struggling to breathe let alone talk.
He gave you a sympathetic look from his spot on the corner of the bed. Christian wanted to do more to help you but there wasn’t a great deal he could do beyond feeding you soup, water, and tablets. Just looking at his face, you could tell he wanted to move up the bed, to lay next to you and to hold you close. And as much as you wanted it, you wouldn’t allow it to happen just yet.
“I know what you want, babe, but not yet. You’ll get sick. You always do whenever I am.” Admittedly it was really cute seeing him pout at you with those annoying puppy dog eyes but you weren’t going to let him get his way.
“I won’t get sick, I’ve got a good immune system!” He was so annoying, honestly. How did he have a comeback for every problem? You tell him he makes strange noises in his sleep, he tells you it’s not sleep apnea or anything. He just talks in his sleep. You tell him he’s been eating your snacks, he tells you he bought them so technically they’re his too.
You shook your head, “here, why don’t you make us both a cup of tea? Then when you’re back maybe! Maybe we can cuddle.” He never looked so excited to make you a drink. Jumping off the bed (quite literally), you watched as he ran into the kitchen.
In the five-ish minutes he was gone, however, without meaning to you had drifted off. One plus about getting sick was you could take accidental naps without consequence. Though you did feel bad as you knew he was returning after doing you a favour with the expectation of reward. Not that he particularly minded. It gave him an excuse to slide under your blanket next to you and snuggle up with you with no fight. Admittedly you felt the warmth of his body pressed up against you and the softness of his lips on your cheek as he got himself comfortable. And as you drifted fully into sleep, you had the intense feeling of ‘home’ wash over you when his arm settled behind you, his fingers gently tracing shapes on your skin. Maybe being sick wasn’t so bad!

Aftermath of Drugging
CW: discussions of non-con drugging, spiking food, medical whump, overdosing, drug abuse, addiction, death, brief BBU-mention
Using drugs as a whump method is pretty common, and rightly so! As one of my favorite tropes, it was interesting to think about how they could affect the Whumpee after the act itself, be it physical or mental.
That's why I made a little compilation (for me and you), if you feel like agonizing your Whumpee even further. There are also some examples in between, for your entertainment!
The research is mostly relating to any downers, meaning any drug that makes you calm or fall asleep, so anesthetics, hypnotics or sedatives. Examples include ketamine, Rohypnol, GBL, propofol and heroin.
Uppers on the other hand have the opposite effect in stimulating the human nervous system. Some of the effects that are noted below are applicable to both kinds of drugs, but keep in mind that stimulants are more of an afterthought in this list. I'm going to recap the effects of both at the end.
I'm not a pharmacist by any means, but as far as reliable research for creative writing goes, this should suffice. No one is going to fact-check your whump fic, bestie 🤍
・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・
By method:
Ingestion (forcing them to take pills, spiking their food)
→ General indigestion, nausea, dry mouth
Injections via syringe or continuous administration through an IV drip (e.g. in medical settings)
-> Swelling/tenderness/infection/bruising of the injection side
-> High fever (even days after the injection)
→ Anaphylaxis: skin rash, chest tightness, dizziness, nausea, facial swelling
Anaphylaxis is an all-body allergic reaction that can cause mild to severe and even deadly symptoms (shock or coma). It can escalate and should be immediately treated with a shot of adrenaline. This kind of reaction could be detrimental to Whumper's plans, especially if they intend to keep Whumpee alive for the foreseeable future. So it would be helpful for them to always carry an EpiPen, just in case...
Inhalation (gas or liquid)
→ High risk of choking and (sleep) apnea
-> Irritation of throat, nose and eyes
-> Throat spasms (Laryngospasm)
Includes coughing, difficulty breathing/speaking and the feeling of suffocation. Even though this kind of spasm fades away pretty quickly, they cause severe stress and panic to the aggrieved party, even leading up to lose consciousness again.
Physical side effects:
-> Drowsiness/tiredness, headaches/migraines, tinnitus
-> Dry mouth/throat or excessive drooling
-> Dilated pupils (causing Whumpee to be light-sensitive)
-> Slurred speech
-> Skin rash, itching, hives
-> decreased/increased appetite (give them a little snack...or not)
Motor skills:
-> Muscle relaxation, ataxia (lack of movement control), general weakness
-> Poor coordination
-> Tremors, cramps, spasms
-> Numbness, paralysis of the body or extremities (a local anesthetic would also do that trick)
Vegetative effects:
-> PONV: nausea, vomiting, retching
-> Cold shivers or hot flashes, acute sweating
-> Arrhythmia, low blood pressure and heart rate
-> Labored breathing
-> Vertigo
The physical consequences alone can make the wake-up process a living nightmare for Whumpee. Any after-effects that inhibit them from just getting up and escape are probably the worst in such a situation, making them weak and useless even if no restraints are involved. Imagine Whumpee just breathing heavily and quivering with cold shivers on a basement floor, unable to shake this uncomfortable feeling off. Their whole system is just trying to get the drugs out, but doing more damage than intended. Numb to the world around them, not even feeling if they are hurt or wounded. Or imagine the complete opposite: Them being able to get up and stumble to the exit, only to be overwhelmed by intense dizziness and collapsing back onto their knees. All the while Whumper watches, of course 👀
Did Whumpee eat beforehand?
Prior to any anesthesia, the person has to fast for at least six hours beforehand. Because Whumpees rarely plan their own kidnapping or non-con high, Whumper should wait for the right moment to get it done. Otherwise, they're risking aspiration or choking and therefore dangerous lung damage up to death; surely the most undesired outcome. Who would have thought that drug abuse can be dangerous...
Impure compounds? In my illegal drugs!?!
If your Whumper's stash really was cut with popular diluents e.g. other medication or lactose, the risks are surprisingly low. The threat of overdosing still comes from the main drug agent. However, mixing downers and uppers to cancel each other out can lead to a dangerous cycle, which amplifies the side effects and increases the risk to OD.
Mental side effects:
-> Nightmares, paranoia around food/drinks
-> Depression, anxiety, self-loathing (e.g. for not being careful enough)
-> Psychosis, hallucinations (optic, acoustic, in terms of taste etc.)
-> Dissociation, confusion, disorientation
-> Insomnia
-> Reduced anxiety or inhibitions
Now instead of being afraid, Whumpee could go batshit crazy and make fun of Whumper; spitting, biting and insulting their aggressor. An outburst they will probably regret later, when they're calm again and sober enough to understand the damage they have caused themself.
-> Memory loss/amnesia
Cue intimate Whumper, who just plays the part of a worried friend while keeping their love safe and controlled. Vague recollections of past abuse? No, just take another sip from your tea, it's alright... One could use drugs as a mean of removing memories altogether, I think in the BBU the "drip" is used to erase the whole personality of the Whumpee, making them a blank slate to train however one would like.
Withdrawal:
-> minutes or even days after the initial drugging
-> extreme anxiety up to paranoia
-> nausea, vomiting, indigestion
-> muscle aches
-> flu symptoms like a runny nose, sweating and fever
Depending on the kind of drug and how often it is used, withdrawal can start after just one dosage. "Not even once"-drugs include meth, heroin and crack cocaine. Also, barbiturates have a high risk of dependence. Speaking of it...⬇
Addiction as a long term effect:
-> Organ damage especially of the brain, liver, kidneys and the diseases that follow (including cancer, short weight, heart failure)
-> Loss of interests, behavior/personality change
-> Selling all valuables and ending up in poverty
-> Aggression/violent behavior
-> Shame and guilt
Isolated, financially and mentally unstable, Whumpee's life had been ruined with just a single act. Even Caretaker turned their back on their former friend. But Whumper would love to help Whumpee become sober again, under just a few conditions. On the other side of the spectrum: a Whumpee who finally managed to escape and take revenge on their abuser, they slowly but surely make Whumper ruin themself through their newly developed little habit...
To sum up:
Downers (decrease bodily functions and calm you down)
→ Unconsciousness, weakness, distortion of perception, failure of motor functions, coma
-> Common examples: Xanax, ketamine, propofol
Vs.
Uppers (stimulate bodily functions and mood)
-> reduced inhibitions, more prone to hallucinations, psychosis, seizures, serotonin syndrome (high heart rate, sweating, twitching, mania)
-> Common examples: meth, ecstasy, cocaine
Bonus: How to store your Whumpee!
The immediate consequence of drugging someone is to figure out how to keep them. Get them secluded and ready for whumping:
-> In the backseat, foot space or trunk of a car (use an ambulance, it's inconspicuous)
-> You know these roof boxes people strap on top of their car? Stuff ´em in there!
-> Put them in a box and ship them overseas
-> Basements are classics, but try the attic for a change
-> Just use a coffin, combined with an old hearse nobody is going to notice
・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・

Can we talk about how over-association of obesity with certain conditions or obesity with ill health in general makes everyone less healthy? Here’s an example. Like I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had a conversation with a patient who is non-compliant with CPAP or doesn’t want to take a sleep apnea test despite displaying symptoms and just saying, “You know, it’s really common for people to have sleep apnea because of the structure of their neck—some people are just genetically born with a narrow opening and it’s more prone to collapse on some people” and it just…completely turns their attitude towards treatment around? Because when they hear sleep apnea, they think “You are saying I’m fat and I did this to myself and I just need to lose weight” and like….I don’t have time to unpack all that but like. So they’re thinking they need to just lose some weight instead of pay all this money and wear this thing on their face while they sleep. When like….without having another professional look at it, I mean, it really might not be changeable. It could just be a thing you have.
When I’ve gone to certain dentists they’re like, “Heyyyyyyy….sooooo…..how’s your sleep…..” and I tell them I’m already on a CPAP and they’re like ok cool good. Because that’s exactly why they mentioned it—my airway is just small. If you’re on my paternal family’s side and you got this side’s neck—you have sleep apnea, like half of my family is on CPAP.
And the knock-on effects of not getting sleep apnea treated have long-term consequences on your entire body because you NEED good sleep with REM. Which is exactly what you are getting cut off from. And randomly stopping breathing and cutting off oxygen to your body over and over and over again for years is not…kind on your heart. Its not the only reason people are resisting treatment, but the idea that it’s only because they’re fat and they feel shamed by it is common. Not everyone wants to even say it, but the fact that me giving any other explanation works SO OFTEN in like two sentences shows they feel shamed by the condition because of its association in the public imagination. So we have thin, fat, whatever sized people endangering their health long-term because they think there’s a 100% association with fatness causing it.
Like everyone wants to talk about how fat people are eating up disproportionate healthcare dollars blah blah blah and that’s so simplistic and fucked up. If you want to talk about that, what about patients resisting treatments that could save their health long-term and cost us less but won’t because they erroneously think it only happens to fat people? What about people resisting a diagnosis that could help them because we’ve collectively unnecessarily stigmatized it?

Research Shows Severe COVID-19 Contributes to Long-Lasting Cognitive Impairment - Published Sept 17, 2024
By: Josh Baxt
In a study that followed COVID-19 patients for two years or more, researchers at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine showed the disease contributes to long-lasting brain fog and other cognitive issues.
These results could be especially concerning for Hispanic, Black and other underrepresented communities, which are already at higher risk for neurocognitive disorders.
The research was published in the journal Plos One.
“We’ve been looking at the relationship between subjective cognitive complaints, such as brain fog, and objective cognition in long COVID, particularly in ethnically and racially diverse groups in South Florida,” said Barbara Junco, M.Sc., clinical research project manager and first author on the study. “We found persistent subjective and objective cognitive issues even two years after infection, including brain fog, word-finding problems, working memory deficits and reduced processing speed.”
“Most Patients Have Never Fully Recovered” Brain fog is a subjective cognitive issue that can include exhaustion, forgetfulness, fatigue and other traits. These and other long-COVID symptoms have forced more than a million Americans to withdraw from the workforce.
“Many patients told us they have never fully recovered,” said Junco. “Their memories are not the same. They can’t work anymore. Some study participants, who are in their fifties and were relatively healthy before COVID, are now disabled. They can no longer function independently.”
The study grew out of a patient registry maintained by Ayham Alkhachroum, M.D., associate professor of clinical neurology at the Miller School and senior author on the paper, which followed COVID patients who had spent time in the ICU. The research team contacted these patients two years after their hospitalization and asked them to complete a series of questionnaires and cognitive tests.
The study queried 41 patients and found their disease severity closely corresponded with their brain fog symptoms and reduced cognitive function. In addition, many of these patients experienced sleep disturbances, including insomnia and obstructive sleep apnea.
The Consequences of the Pandemic While these results contribute to our understanding of how long COVID is affecting people, it is an early effort in an area that warrants extended study.
“This research highlights the enduring consequences of the pandemic, particularly the burden faced by survivors and the need for further research to understand the mechanisms behind COVID-19-related cognitive decline and brain fog,” said co-author Alberto Ramos, M.D., professor of clinical neurology in the Division of Sleep Medicine at the Miller School. “We believe that, with further study, we can develop more effective treatments.”
The authors hope this research will encourage clinicians to pay closer attention to patients with long COVID. In some cases, people might benefit from cognitive rehabilitation or other clinical interventions.
“It’s important for health care providers to be aware of the potential for these long-lasting issues and consider incorporating cognitive testing into their follow-up care,” said Junco. “Early, mild cognitive impairment could put some patients at risk for dementia, and that will be a terrible burden on patients, families and society at large.”

How can exercising at the gym help me sleep better?
It takes quality sleep to be healthy. Lack of sleep has been related in studies to an increased risk of heart disease and stroke, decreased sports performance, and an increased chance of obesity, among other things. Sleep is a key health issue of our time, with a large number of people losing out on sleep entirely to meet their work and social obligations, and a similar number of people experiencing poor-quality sleep. A common recommendation for improving sleep is to visit the gym and increase your physical activity.
How can working out at the gym improve my quality of sleep?
Aerobic exercise may improve sleep quality, vitality, reduce depression:
In a 2010 Northwestern Medicine study, a group of individuals with poor sleep quality and insomnia received aerobic exercise four times a week. As a result, in a self-reported sleep quality study, the patients went from being classified as "poor sleepers" to "good sleepers." The exercise also reduced the respondents' feelings of depression, increased their sense of vitality, and decreased their tendency to nod off during the day.
2. Exercise seems to reduce the severity of obstructive sleep apnoea:
An individual with obstructive sleep apnea experiences periodic cessations of breathing during the night. This illness is characterized by loud snoring and much poorer sleep. Even after a lengthy night of sleep, people with sleep apnea usually report feeling weary all day. Exercise has been shown in a 2014 meta-analysis to have a considerable positive impact on daytime sleepiness and, not surprisingly, cardiorespiratory fitness. It also greatly reduced the consequences of sleep apnea.
3. Exercise may reduce the time it takes to fall asleep:
Exercise seems to be significantly associated with a reduction in sleep latency, according to a 2012 study that looked at participants who were assigned to an exercise group and were either undertaking HIIT or moderate-intensity aerobics. Put otherwise, the subjects who exercised went to sleep faster than they would have otherwise. This is a noteworthy discovery as difficulty falling asleep is one of the main types of insomnia.
4. Moderate-intensity aerobic exercise seems to reduce insomnia-associated anxiety:
The inability to fall asleep can be caused by a variety of reasons, including psychological and physical ones, and the intricate interactions between them make insomnia a complex problem. According to a 2010 study, individuals with insomnia seemed to sleep better and experience less pre-sleep anxiety when engaging in moderate-intensity aerobic exercise.
There you have it, then. The evidence seems to be very clear-cut: exercise can only improve the quantity and caliber of your sleep. Starting a regular workout regimen during the day may be the answer you're seeking if you're having trouble falling asleep at night or waking up feeling rested.

Yeah. Knew it was gonna happen. Feeling mad about this.
Health-related vent with some info if your thyroid might be a messy bitch too. Just typing it out so my head doesn't blow up.
Myopathy in Hypothyroidism (quoth VeryWellHealth, I looked it up to make sure I wasn't hallucinating out of anger/relief)
Muscle weakness
Creatinine levels tend to be normal
Cramping (uncommon)
Rarely, issues with the muscles involved in swallowing and breathing (rare)
"Rarely, hypothyroidism can cause severe muscle symptoms. One example is Hoffman's syndrome. This is when a person develops muscle hypertrophy (enlarged muscles). It can lead to significant muscle stiffness, weakness, and pain."
Yeah. Ha. Yeah. In other news, in my body right now: 1)Hypertrophy of a muscle on the inside of my right thigh, causing constant pain and difficulty walking. 2)Shoulder that locked up the Winter of 2021 and continues to do so on a daily basis, making it difficult for me to type or draw. 3) Regular back spasms. 4) Occasional spasms of all kinds! 5) Sleep apnea that's resisting the CPAP.
And, if we count my mother, who died before she turned 70, all of the above, just in different places (with the exception of an apnea diagnosis, she never got one, she just had a horrible time sleeping) plus difficulty swallowing, weakness, falls, and brain fog. She had a million different diagnoses, and no follow up on any of them when she got no relief. To the best of my knowledge, nobody ever told her, "Hashimoto's, and Synthroid may not be enough to treat it."
She either killed herself shortly after yet another surgery, or aspirated her own vomit and died with no help from the pain meds they gave her. "Issues with muscles involved in swallowing and breathing," yes.
This is my life. This has been my whole life. Optimistically speaking, this has taken half my life, and my circumstances are irreparably different because of it. Might I have had children if I knew my mom's lifelong physical and mental health issues were down to an under-treated thyroid? Maybe! And if they'd been treating mine, my uterus and ovaries probably wouldn't have been so screwed up they needed to be yanked out and thrown away. Might I have been able to hold down a job and had a career without that constant pain and anxiety? Who knows! Might I have had enough strength to keep pushing and get published traditionally, thus being absorbed and rewarded by the broken system I've devoted my total-lack-of-notoriety to fighting and working without? Beats me! Would I still have two living parents and some ability to get closure for what I went through growing up? A riddle for the ages!
If my new doctor sticks with it and finds something that works for me, this is all the marbles. I did not over-state how important this was. This is my quality of life, for the rest of my life. But I look back, and there's so much I've already lost that I'll never get back. It's just gone.
Before this, there was nothing to stop me from being unable to eat, or breathe, or move, and going out just like my mom. Her story would've been mine - only mine would've been shorter. Going down the generations, my grandmother had a lot of these issues, just less severe. It was getting worse. The Agent Orange they dropped on my dad surely did not help. I was able to figure out what was going on thanks to internet access, but I couldn't get anyone to confirm it or treat me. I fought like hell, and it took someone who loved me to intervene on my behalf. Someone with a Y chromosome. And now I still need One Good Doctor to see me through. Just one, out of all of 'em. Please, Lord, just the one.
If you got a little extra in you, God, I could use a few more - this gremlin has been ripping up my health for a long time and there's consequences - but maybe I won't die choking on my own vomit in 25 years if just this one works out.
This isn't me. You know that? I've been sick my whole life. I still am. I have no idea if the broken coping mechanisms I developed to deal with this are gonna go away. I don't know who I am. I'm not a ball of anxiety in constant pain that can't hold down a job, but I have no idea who I am.
I hope I get to meet me at some point.
Geez, and I hope you like me too.

Ive found multiple sources that say Ritalin can help with POTS symptoms 😠
On Monday I'm going to have to call a couple offices to make sure they've actually sent/received my referral that was supposed to have been sent in February (and wasn't when I last called first week of April), so I can get this fucking sleep study so I can maybe not have nightmares constantly and dream that I'm trying to literally rip through a barrier back into the real world so I can wake up and stop suffering (I dont have any normal obstructive sleep apnea symptoms, but I might have central sleep apnea since I have other funky brainstem things). But if the study shows nothing abnormal cardiac/pulmonary wise, then I can go back to my cardiologist and I can kick him in the knee caps for denying me Ritalin this whole time when I've tried to explain how much I'm straight up fucking Suffering because I can't do anything that requires more than a click of a mouse to start. I'm surrounded by hobbies I enjoy and projects I want to do and I have multiple note files of multiple art ideas and I can't actually just fucking do any of it because I can't just do things I want to do if there's no deadline with actual consequences.
And my cardiologist is supposed to be the POTS guy for the area. Yet "Ritalin and Adderall are basically the same," and "we really don't want to give you stimulants because they'll raise your heart rate." But Ritalin could actually help improve my symptoms and if it helps my ADHD and increases my heart rate, my beta blocker dose can be increased still. The max dose is 60mg/day, and I'm at 15.
Like, fuck! I'm trying claw out as much quality of life as I can, but my fucking doctors won't get their shit together enough to make it happen! As long as Ritalin doesn't fuck with my ME, I would actually be able to complete projects by working on them a little at a time if I can't fully do them from bed. I can't sit at a desk for more than a couple hours at a time a few times a week (so not long enough for a job), but if my brain worms would let me consistently do 30-90 minutes a day, I would actually accomplish things. I might would actually be able to do my physical therapy enough for it to make a difference instead of suddenly realizing a month has passed. I could brush my fucking teeth every day for the first time since I was a child being constantly monitored on hygiene by my parents.

2022, The Year That Was
I have had the most mixed year of my life and it is, at the time I’m writing, just about over or already over depending on when you see this. I have been through a lot, so let go through what I’ve learned first, then look to the future of what I want to happen in 2023.
What I Learned
Starting in January, I finally learned what I had a suspicion of for years: I am autistic. I have pushed through 35 years of working to mask (poorly) my stems like rocking back and forth, shaking my legs, and, returning recently, biting my bottom lip. These are habits in the eyes of others that I cannot help but have tried, to varying degrees of success, suppress so that people wouldn’t see me as weird or creepy or abnormal to scary degree or intimidating. I am autistic and I now know my incredibly unique way of thinking and doing is different from everyone else because I have a brain that’s impossible to duplicate, which, in a way, makes me feel good.
I also learned that I do have sleep apnea big time to the point that my pulmonologist said that I have 85 interruptions an hour. As of now, I’m still trying to get the right mask for my CPAP, so hopefully I’ll have full sleep sessions sooner rather than later.
I have also learned to not trust anyone. That’s pretty harsh, but for a very long time, my trust barriers were incredibly high and took me years to fully trust people. I recently realized that my walls weakened and brought more people into my life, which is fine to a fault, but there’s always been a policy that I’ve enforced where if someone has a problem with me or if I say/do something wrong, DM me, call me, text me, email me, or whatever you have to do to get me one-on-one and tell me so it can be resolved.
But thanks to incidents over the summer and fall, mistakes I’ve made without knowing I’ve made them have cost me friends and social circles almost to the point that I would’ve had complete meltdown. I own up to my mistakes, and I’ve always tried to explain myself as to why I have done said thing, but spreading rumors causes a mob mentality to where people don’t pull you aside and get the story from the source, causing things to spiral out of control. This happens so much so that you can see a true person’s colors to a point where they hate me, they want nothing to do with me, and they discourage others to meet or talk to me. In my head, that makes me feel like I committed the worst social sins possible and think that I’m an incredibly horrible person, when the complete opposite is true. Of course, my anxious brain will conjure all of these things and my logical brain will have to calm me down before I do drastic things. However, what I said in the last paragraph is 100% true, and because of the incidents I went through which I’m keeping vague to not spark worse consequences — I’ve re-strengthened my walls to their previous conditions to protect me from worse punishments and losing even more friends and costing me possible romantic relationships.
Speaking of relationships, I have survived another full year of loneliness that went from a metaphorical contained brush fire to a full-blown 1,000,000-acre wildfire thanks to the pandemic (which is still a thing). I’ve also found a term that makes me scared of being alone forever: autophobia. With me being touch-famished, demisexual in a college town, and all of my other mental complexities, I worry that I will never find Mrs(x). Right and it’s worrying. I have also learned that I am not against polyamory and open to two or three other women in my dynamic (no men, because attraction limits), even though I am default monogamous would be just fine with someone that loves me for me and will love me to the point that I want them be completely integrated in my as I would be in theirs.
That said, I know that I’m like a teddy bear where love hugs and kisses on the head, cheeks, and lips, and making out to me is my version of someone getting a metaphorical sexual home run. That said, sex is great, but I will never force anything on my significant other(s) — as no one should; NO MEANS NO — but I also have to come to a different realization that I’m a 445lb, 6’3” black man that many women will find intimidating, scary, creepy, or [INSERT ADJECTIVE HERE], even though my closest friends will look at you sideways and wonder where you’re seeing that in me. I can’t help my physical features, but I do my best to be an open book and a lending ear to help people and do better to help myself as well.
What I Want In 2023
In 2023, I want to spread my talents to other people and the world. I’m going to work on making more content, both long-form and short-form as well as the podcasts, Yes, This Is A Podcast & The Pixelated Men, and maybe be on or help make new podcasts as well. I want more people to join and spread the reach of the Locked ‘N Loaded .game (dotGame) Network with more members, developers, & hybrids. I want to expand Studio 6.2 Enterprises with a few more divisions that I can collaborate with and make new content along the lines.
I also want to work on bringing more people to decentralized, community-driven social media, which is why I’m on Mastodon, Pixelfed, Minds, & MOXY. I truly believe that we need to bring the internet back into power of the people and this is just the beginning. (Hint: click/tap the links to add me or see what I’m working on.
I hope that this is a helpful look into my life over the past 365 days and a sports book look into what I want in 2023.
Finally, but not even the last, I want to thank my friends Rachael and Amanda for being the best hosts when I went on my first vacation to San Antonio, @pixelguysean, Cody, Krystn, & Mark for keeping me from the deep end and my sisters and mom for being the anchor that kept me on the ground and pushing forward regardless of what I want, have said/done, and will say/do. I still live with them, but they have made it a goal to help me become a more prosperous, independent person,………..and better at money because math is hard and adulting is worse.
Here’s to a better 2023 than the 2022 we had.

"Sleep Better with the Respirare Sleep Magic AUTO CPAP VT40 by Medikart: A Comprehensive Review"
Respiratory problems are becoming more and more common in today's fast-paced world. With people leading increasingly sedentary lifestyles and being exposed to pollution and other environmental factors, sleep apnea has become a major concern. This is where the Respirare Sleep Magic AUTO CPAP VT40 by Medikart comes in.
What is Sleep Apnea?
Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder characterized by interrupted breathing during sleep. It occurs when the muscles in the back of the throat fail to keep the airway open, causing the individual to stop breathing for a few seconds or even a minute. This can happen repeatedly throughout the night and can result in snoring, gasping for air, and interrupted sleep.

Sleep Apnea Treatments Without CPAP: The Ultimate Guide to Modern Solutions
Sleep apnea is a condition that affects millions of people worldwide, often leading to disrupted sleep, excessive fatigue, and serious health issues. While CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machines have been the traditional treatment, many people find them uncomfortable or inconvenient. Fortunately, modern advancements have introduced CPAP-free alternatives that are just as effective, if not more suitable, for certain individuals.
In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore innovative sleep apnea treatments such as Bongo RX, Restiffic, and other solutions that prioritize comfort and convenience while addressing your sleep apnea needs.
What Is Sleep Apnea?
Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder where breathing repeatedly stops and starts. The two primary types are:
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA): Caused by a blockage in the airway, often due to relaxed throat muscles.
Central Sleep Apnea: A less common form where the brain fails to send the correct signals to the muscles that control breathing.
Both types can lead to severe consequences, such as daytime drowsiness, heart problems, and more if left untreated.
Why Seek Alternatives to CPAP?
While CPAP machines have long been the gold standard, they aren’t the perfect solution for everyone. Common complaints about CPAP therapy include:
Discomfort due to masks or straps.
Noise from the machine.
Difficulty traveling with bulky equipment.
Skin irritation or pressure sores.
Compliance challenges due to the invasive nature of therapy.
Modern alternatives address these issues, offering more patient-friendly options for sleep apnea sufferers.
Bongo RX: A Game-Changer in Sleep Apnea Treatment
One of the most exciting innovations in sleep apnea management is the Bongo RX, a revolutionary device designed for mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea.
How Does Bongo RX Work?
The Bongo RX is a small, reusable nasal device that uses EPAP (Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure) technology. As you exhale, the device creates gentle resistance that keeps your airways open.
Benefits of Bongo RX:
Portable and Travel-Friendly: No power source required, making it perfect for travel.
Easy to Use: Simply insert into the nostrils before bed.
Comfortable Design: Made with soft silicone for a snug, irritation-free fit.
Cost-Effective: Long-lasting and reusable, saving you money over time.
With Bongo RX, you can enjoy better sleep without the bulk and noise of a CPAP machine.
Restiffic: A Unique Approach to Better Sleep
Another innovative solution for improving sleep quality, particularly for those with Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS), is the Restiffic foot wrap.
How Does Restiffic Work?
The Restiffic foot wrap applies gentle pressure to specific points on the foot, stimulating nerves to calm leg movements and improve sleep.
Benefits of Restiffic:
Non-Invasive Therapy: No medications or invasive procedures required.
Effective for RLS: Proven to reduce symptoms of restless leg syndrome.
Enhances Overall Sleep: Helps you stay asleep longer by eliminating leg discomfort.
While not a direct treatment for sleep apnea, managing RLS can significantly enhance sleep quality for those dealing with both conditions.
Other CPAP-Free Sleep Apnea Treatments
1. Oral Appliances
Oral appliances, like mandibular advancement devices, reposition the jaw to keep the airway open. These are custom-fitted by dentists and can be a convenient alternative to CPAP.
2. Positional Therapy
For people whose sleep apnea worsens when lying on their back, positional therapy trains them to sleep on their side using wearable devices or specialized pillows.
3. Weight Management
Excess weight is a common contributor to obstructive sleep apnea. Adopting a healthy lifestyle with diet and exercise can reduce symptoms dramatically.
4. Surgical Options
In severe cases, surgeries like Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) or Inspire therapy, which uses a small implant to stimulate airway muscles, may be recommended.
5. Lifestyle Adjustments
Quitting smoking, reducing alcohol consumption, and managing allergies can also improve sleep apnea symptoms.
Choosing the Right Treatment for You
When selecting a treatment, it’s important to consider:
Severity of Your Sleep Apnea: Mild cases may benefit from solutions like Bongo RX, while severe cases might require a combination of treatments.
Personal Comfort: Your willingness to use the device consistently is key to success.
Consulting a Specialist: Always seek professional advice to determine the best option for your specific needs.
FAQs About CPAP-Free Sleep Apnea Solutions
1. Is Bongo RX suitable for all sleep apnea patients?
Bongo RX is ideal for mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. Severe cases may require additional interventions.
2. Can Restiffic be used alongside other treatments?
Yes, Restiffic can complement other therapies, especially for those with restless leg syndrome.
3. How do I know if I need sleep apnea treatment?
Symptoms like loud snoring, daytime fatigue, and interrupted breathing during sleep are signs to consult a doctor.
Conclusion
Sleep apnea treatments have evolved far beyond CPAP machines, offering a range of comfortable, effective, and travel-friendly solutions. Whether you opt for the Bongo RX, the Restiffic foot wrap, or another innovative therapy, there are plenty of ways to reclaim your restful nights.

What Are Sleep Disorders?
Sleep disorders are medical conditions that disrupt a person’s normal sleep patterns. They can stem from various causes, such as stress, underlying health conditions, or environmental factors. While everyone experiences an occasional restless night, people with sleep disorders face persistent challenges that interfere with their ability to fall asleep, stay asleep, or achieve restorative sleep.
Common types of sleep disorders include:
1.Insomnia: Difficulty falling or staying asleep.
2. Sleep apnea: Breathing interruptions during sleep.
3. Restless legs syndrome (RLS): Uncomfortable sensations in the legs that disrupt sleep.
4. Narcolepsy: Sudden, uncontrollable episodes of falling asleep during the day.
Common Symptoms of Sleep Disorders
Sleep disorders manifest in a variety of ways, and the symptoms often vary depending on the type of disorder. Below are some common signs to watch for:
1. Difficulty Falling Asleep
Many people with sleep disorders find it hard to initiate sleep, spending hours tossing and turning. Stress, anxiety, or overstimulation from screen use before bedtime are common culprits.
2. Trouble Staying Asleep
Frequent nighttime awakenings or waking up too early can indicate a problem with sleep maintenance. This symptom is particularly common in insomnia and sleep apnea.
3. Waking Up Unrested
Even after spending adequate time in bed, individuals may wake up feeling exhausted. This is often a sign of poor sleep quality or conditions like sleep apnea, where frequent disruptions prevent restorative sleep stages.
4. Excessive Daytime Sleepiness
Persistent fatigue during the day, despite seemingly sufficient nighttime sleep, can point to conditions like narcolepsy or obstructive sleep apnea.
5. Mood Changes and Cognitive Impairment
Sleep disorders often lead to irritability, anxiety, or depression. Poor sleep also affects concentration, memory, and decision-making abilities, making daily tasks challenging.
6. Physical Symptoms
Certain sleep disorders come with physical signs like snoring, gasping for air during sleep, or a tingling sensation in the limbs (as seen in restless legs syndrome).
How Sleep Disorder Symptoms Affect Daily Life
Living with sleep disorders can take a toll on every aspect of life. Some of the significant impacts include:
Health Consequences
Chronic sleep deprivation weakens the immune system, increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases, and can contribute to weight gain or diabetes.
Mental and Emotional Health
Sleep disorders exacerbate stress, anxiety, and depression. They can also lead to a lack of motivation, decreased patience, and difficulty managing emotions.
Reduced Productivity
Fatigue impairs focus and energy levels, affecting workplace or academic performance. It also increases the likelihood of accidents, especially for those who drive or operate machinery.
Strained Relationships
Mood changes and irritability can strain personal relationships, while nighttime symptoms like snoring may disrupt a partner’s sleep, causing frustration.
When to Seek Medical Help
If sleep disorder symptoms persist for more than a few weeks and interfere with daily life, it’s crucial to seek medical advice. A healthcare provider can assess your condition through a physical exam, sleep study, or blood tests to identify the underlying cause and recommend appropriate treatment.
Improving Sleep Naturally
While medical intervention is essential for some sleep disorders, many people benefit from lifestyle changes and natural remedies. Here are a few tips:
Establish a consistent sleep schedule.
Create a relaxing bedtime routine, such as reading or meditation.
Limit caffeine and alcohol intake, especially in the evening.
Avoid screens at least an hour before bed.
Make your sleeping environment comfortable and quiet.

Everything You Need to Know About D4 Medicals
Contact Us On: 07845 268 537 or 07455886664
When it comes to driving professionally or operating specific vehicles, health and fitness aren’t just personal priorities—they’re legal requirements. This is where D4 Medicals come into play. Whether you're an aspiring HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) driver or renewing your PSV (Public Service Vehicle) license, a D4 medical exam is a crucial step in the process.
This article delves deep into D4 Medicals, breaking down what they are, why they matter, and what to expect during the assessment.
What Is a D4 Medical?
A D4 Medical is a mandatory health assessment required for individuals applying for or renewing licenses to drive large vehicles such as lorries, buses, or coaches in the UK. The purpose is to ensure that drivers meet the health standards needed to operate these vehicles safely.
The medical assessment is documented on a D4 form, which must be completed by a registered medical professional and submitted to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
Who Needs a D4 Medical?
Anyone applying for a vocational driving license for:
Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV)
Public Service Vehicles (PSV)
Large vehicles exceeding 3.5 tonnes
Renewal is also required for individuals over the age of 45, as these licenses are only valid for five years for drivers in this age group. For drivers over 65, the medical is required annually.
Why Is a D4 Medical Necessary?
Driving large vehicles demands more than just skill—it requires excellent physical and mental health. The safety of passengers, cargo, and other road users depends on the driver being in good shape to handle potentially hazardous situations.
A D4 Medical aims to screen for any health conditions that could impair a driver’s ability to operate large vehicles safely. Conditions like poor eyesight, heart problems, or neurological disorders can have serious consequences if not identified and managed properly.
What Does the D4 Medical Examination Involve?
The D4 Medical covers several key areas of your health. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect during the assessment:
1. Vision Test
Your eyesight will be thoroughly assessed to ensure it meets the DVLA’s minimum standards. This includes checking your ability to read a number plate from 20 meters and assessing peripheral vision. Drivers may need corrective lenses or glasses if their vision falls short.
2. General Medical History
The doctor will review your medical history, asking about any existing or past conditions such as diabetes, epilepsy, or heart disease. Be prepared to provide details about medications, surgeries, or hospitalizations.
3. Physical Examination
A physical examination includes checks on your heart, blood pressure, and overall fitness. Blood pressure levels are particularly important because uncontrolled hypertension can pose risks while driving.
4. Neurological Assessment
D4 Drivers must not have conditions that could result in sudden incapacitation, such as epilepsy or severe sleep apnea. The doctor may ask about your sleep patterns and history of fainting or blackouts.
5. Alcohol and Drug Screening
Although not always mandatory, some doctors may perform alcohol or drug screening, especially if there are signs of substance misuse.
How to Prepare for a D4 Medical
Preparation can make your D4 Medical straightforward and stress-free:
Bring the right documents: Have your D4 form and photo ID ready.
Know your medical history: Compile a list of any medications or treatments.
Wear glasses if needed: Bring them along, along with your latest prescription if applicable.
Stay hydrated: Proper hydration helps with blood pressure readings.
Avoid heavy meals or stimulants: Caffeine and high-sodium foods can impact blood pressure.
Where to Get a D4 Medical Done?
D4 Medicals can be completed by registered general practitioners, private clinics, or specialized HGV medical centers. While some people choose their NHS GP, private clinics are often quicker and more cost-effective.
Cost of a D4 Medical
Prices for a D4 Medical vary depending on the provider. NHS GPs may charge up to £150, while private clinics often charge between £50 and £80.
Common Reasons for Failing a D4 Medical
Failing a D4 Medical isn’t the end of the road, but it’s essential to address the underlying issue. Common reasons for failure include:
Poor eyesight
High blood pressure
Untreated sleep apnea
Substance abuse
Unmanaged diabetes
Addressing these health concerns, often through treatment or lifestyle changes, can help you pass a re-assessment.
How Long Is a D4 Medical Valid?
The validity of a D4 Medical depends on your age and health:
Under 45: Medical is valid until your next license renewal.
45-65: Medical is valid for five years.
65 and above: Medical required annually.
What Happens After the D4 Medical?
Once the doctor completes the D4 form, you must submit it to the DVLA as part of your license application or renewal. The DVLA will review the form and may request additional information or tests if necessary.
Tips for a Successful D4 Medical
Regular health checkups can help detect and manage issues early.
Prioritize good sleep habits to avoid sleep apnea concerns.
If you wear glasses, ensure your prescription is up-to-date.
Maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine to manage blood pressure and weight.
Conclusion
A London D4 Medical is an essential step for anyone pursuing or maintaining a vocational driving license. While it might seem daunting, it's a straightforward process designed to ensure your safety and that of others on the road. By understanding the requirements and preparing adequately, you can complete your D4 Medical with ease and confidence.
