This hug is more than just sixteen
This hug is two girls that started to get recognized as trainees in the same company (jype), started their idol life both at 18, again in the same company (swing ent), Chaeyeon in a group (iz*one) and Natty as a soloist, now they're in different companies (CY in WM ent/Natty S2 ent), Chaeyeon is currently the soloist one and Natty is currently in a group

friends outside ateez
kim sunwoo of the boyz
the two met when they were just kids because they lived down the street from each other and their parents were friends
jieun became close with him because she and jihoon would sometimes spend evenings at his house when their parents were at work
they bonded a lot over their shared love of music and eventually their common dream of becoming idols
sunwoo was the one who convinced her to audition for jyp, and was also the one who encouraged her to join kq when she was scouted
they’ve always been super supportive of each other throughout the years, especially during their respective survival shows (her with sixteen and him with high school rapper)
however, the public didn’t get to know about their friendship until kingdom when jieun showed some photos of the two as children and it was revealed they’d been friends for 15ish years
fans are begging to see more interactions between the two of them but honestly their friendship is something they like keeping out of the spotlight
jieun trusts him with her life and he’s one of the very few people that she’ll open up to without hesitation
choi “lia” jisu of itzy
they were introduced through chaeryeong and became really close in 2019!
lia’s both like an older sister and a best friend to her
they both know they can always go to each other when they need advice or just want to rant, but lia cares for her like a little sister and jieun really appreciates her for it
because of their idol activities they don’t get to hang out as often as they’d like, but they still designate at least one day a month to go out and catch up
they bring out the inner gossipers in each other because every time something tea-worthy happens to one of them, the other is on speed dial and will be the first to know
they’ve both gone to each others concerts multiple times and have even attended a few other concerts together
another thing that jieun is grateful for is lia’s incredible taste in fashion because there’s been so many times that she’s texted lia from inside a fitting room to get her opinion on clothes
honestly jieun’s pretty close with all the members of itzy and has hung out at their dorms on multiple occasions, but lia’s always the one she gravitates to the most
jeon wonwoo of seventeen
goodbye they met after being queued into the same match in league of legends 😭
he sent her a friend request because she was good at the game and wanted to know some of her secrets and strats
and thus they’d occasionally play together while neither knew who the other was
it was really funny when they found out because she was doing a gaming stream and mentioned she was queued with a friend (him), but then her stream popped up on scoups’ recommendations list and he put two and two together because he could hear wonwoo’s voice in comms
wonwoo literally sent her a private message later that day being like “are you ateez’s jieun?” which lowkey gave her a heart attack ngl
her members were in shock when they found out that jieun had been playing video games with a seventeen member for all that time
they don’t really talk much outside of the topic of video games but whenever one of them has a comeback or upcoming tour, they always send nice messages to each other

Mixed Messages
⚢ Pairing - Momo x 10th Member!Reader
✎ Word Count - 2.6k
☆ Genre - Angst/Fluff
♡ Description - You and Momo have been close ever since SIXTEEN, When your company decides to take advantage of your intimate moments with Momo to benefit themselves without your knowledge, things get rocky. (A/N: I haven't had a chance to proofread this in its entirety yet, so please bare with me if there are errors)
★······★
Before you became the 10th member of TWICE, your journey began on the reality show "SIXTEEN." This show was the very platform that brought you closer to the members of TWICE and laid the foundation for the unique bond you shared.
SIXTEEN was a survival reality show that aimed to select the members of a new girl group, which would later become TWICE. You were one of the sixteen contestants vying for a coveted spot in the debut lineup. From the very beginning, it was clear that the competition would be fierce, as each contestant possessed their own unique talents and charm.
During the grueling weeks of training and competition on the show, you had the opportunity to get to know Jihyo, Mina, and the other members of TWICE on a personal level. You practiced together, shared meals, and offered each other support during the tough times. It was through these shared experiences that your bonds began to form.
Jihyo's unwavering determination and leadership qualities made her a source of inspiration for all of you. Mina's quiet elegance and grace captivated everyone, and she had a calming presence that helped ease your nerves. These initial interactions allowed you to see them not just as idols, but as individuals with their own dreams and aspirations.
However, it was with Momo that you formed an especially close connection during the show. You discovered a shared passion for dance and spent countless hours perfecting your moves together. Your late-night practice sessions turned into heartfelt conversations, and your friendship deepened with each passing day. Momo's infectious energy and warm personality made it easy for anyone to get close to her.
As the competition progressed, you all faced eliminations, and the pressure intensified. Bonds were forged and tested, and you relied on each other for emotional support. You remember Mina being a calming presence, Jihyo motivating all of you with her words, and Momo always ready with a comforting smile.
In the end, only a select few of you made it to the final lineup, and you were not among them. It was a bittersweet moment when you left the show, knowing that you wouldn't be a part of TWICE's official debut. But little did you know that fate had a different plan in store for you.
Shortly after the conclusion of the show, you received an unexpected call from Park Jinyoung, Mr. JYP himself. He had been impressed with your performance on the show and saw the potential for you to contribute to TWICE's success. Thus, you were brought in as the 10th member.
Eight years into your career with Twice, your management company saw an opportunity to capitalize on the natural connection between you and Momo, the connection fans had seen ever since SIXTEEN back in 2015. They believed that fan service between the two of you could add an extra layer of excitement and intrigue for ONCE. While Momo and Jihyo were fully informed about the scripted nature of these interactions, you were kept in the dark, leading you to believe that Momo’s gestures were driven by a genuine romantic interest.
As time went by, you found yourself caught up in a whirlwind of emotions. Momo's lingering glances, soft touches, and playful banter seemed to speak a language of their own, one that resonated deep within your heart. Her actions seemed to echo the unspoken feelings you had begun to harbor for her.
★······★
The electric atmosphere of the music show's stage pulsed with energy as you and Momo settled into your seats, ready to share a recent highlight from TWICE's journey. The host's introduction sent waves of anticipation through the audience, and the spotlight turned to you both.
"Hello, everyone! We've got a fantastic treat for you today with our special guests—the dynamic duo from TWICE, Momo and Y/N!" The host's excitement was palpable, matched only by the cheers from the eager crowd.
As the host turned to you, a smile graced your lips. This was your chance to talk about a moment that was fresh in your memory—the most recent concert that had brought you and Momo even closer together.
"So, you've just wrapped up a series of incredible concerts in the US, haven't you?" the host asked, his gaze switching between you and Momo.
"That's right," Momo replied with a grin. "Our recent concerts in the States were an absolute blast. The energy from our ONCE was electrifying, and we were able to share some truly unforgettable moments."
The host leaned in, curiosity evident in his expression. "Could you give us a glimpse of one of those moments? Something that stood out to both of you?"
You exchanged a knowing glance with Momo, a shared memory already forming between you. "Well," you began, your voice filled with enthusiasm, "For our final concert, all of the members prepared special stages. Momo and I had been planning a special duet for a while, so we decided we should show it at the concert."
Momo's eyes sparkled as she shifted her chair slightly closer to yours and grasped your hand, taking you a bit by surprise. "Yes, that duet was really something. The crowd was completely invested, and the energy was through the roof. We were dancing side by side, and there was this moment where our choreography synced perfectly."
The host leaned in, intrigued by both the story and the surprise piece of skinship. "Synced choreography? That sounds amazing!"
"It was," you continued, a subtle blush spreading across your face. "And in that moment, it felt like time slowed down. Momo and I locked eyes, and there was this unspoken connection between us. The fans were cheering, the lights were flashing, and it was as if we were in our own little world." You couldn’t help but smile as you pictured the moment again in your head.
Momo nodded, her smile softening. "Exactly. The best part was that it wasn't just about the performance itself—it was about the shared experience, the bond we have as friends and as members of TWICE."
★······★
With your heart still fluttering from your latest interaction with Momo, you found yourself grappling with a question that had been lingering in your mind. Wanting to seek guidance, you decided to confide in Jihyo, who was not only your fellow member but also a close friend of yours
You found her sitting alone in her room at your shared dorms, and the words spilled out before you could second-guess yourself. "Jihyo, can I ask you something?" you began, your voice tentative.
Jihyo turned to you with a warm smile. "Of course, what's on your mind?"
You took a deep breath, your gaze drifting towards the ground for a moment before you met her eyes again. "It's about Momo," you admitted, your voice softer now.
Jihyo's expression shifted slightly, a hint of curiosity in her eyes. "Momo? What about her?"
You paused for a moment, thinking about the best way to ask her. "I've been feeling... something between me and Momo. But I can't help but wonder, do you think she really likes me?"
Jihyo's eyes met yours, her expression thoughtful, and for a moment, you sensed a flicker of uncertainty in her gaze. Her lips parted as if she was about to speak, but then she hesitated. The silence hung between you, a palpable tension that you couldn't ignore.
Finally, Jihyo let out a sigh, her voice a mixture of honesty and reluctance. "I think Momo cares about you a lot," she began, choosing her words carefully. "But feelings can be complex, and sometimes, what we see isn't always the whole picture."
Your heart sank at her response, uncertainty gnawing at the edges of your thoughts. Jihyo's words left you more conflicted than before, as if the truth was both tantalizingly close and just out of reach. The conversation ended on a note of ambiguity. You thanked her before walking away, leaving you with a sense of unease that refused to be shaken off.
Little did you know, the reason for Jihyo's hesitance went beyond what she could openly reveal. She was aware of the scripted interactions, the orchestrated gestures that had given life to a romantic facade. But it wasn't her place to shatter the illusion, and so, she found herself treading carefully around a truth that was known to her alone.
★······★
Then, one day, as fate would have it, in a quiet corner of the practice room, you stumbled upon a moment that shattered the delicate facade you had built. Momo's phone was briefly unattended, and a curious impulse prompted you to take a peek. What you discovered within her digital world was a revelation that rocked you to your core.
In her phone were meticulously crafted notes, detailing every interaction you had shared, every glance, every touch, and every word exchanged. As you read through these entries, your heart sank as the truth became evident: the romantic moments you thought were genuine were nothing more than carefully orchestrated performances, following a script that only Momo was privy to.
The moment of truth arrived with a mixture of dread and curiosity. You had managed to keep your discovery to yourself, unsure of how to approach Momo about it. But as the weight of the secret became too heavy to bear, you found the courage to broach the subject.
You took a deep breath as Momo walked into the practice room and looked directly into her eyes. "Momo," you began, your voice a mixture of uncertainty and vulnerability, "Is this what I think it is? Were all of our interactions, everything we did together, scripted?"
Momo's gaze held yours, and her expression was a complex mix of remorse and understanding. She nodded slowly, her voice gentle as she responded, "Yes, it's true. The interactions between us, they were scripted for fan-service. The management thought it would be a good idea to create that illusion to appeal to ONCE."
Your heart felt like it was in your throat, the reality of the situation sinking in deeper. "So, all those moments, the glances, the laughter... they weren't real?"
Momo's expression softened, and she reached out to gently touch your arm. "The feelings behind them were real," she admitted, her voice sincere. "The bond we share, the friendship we've built, those are genuine. But the specific moments we were encouraged to showcase, those were planned."
A whirlwind of emotions swirled within you—a sense of loss, confusion, and the lingering question of where to go from here. "And the notes?" you pressed, your voice quivering slightly. "You have details for all of our interactions, even ones that haven’t happened yet?"
Momo's gaze dropped briefly, her fingers fidgeting with the edge of her phone. When she looked back at you, there was a raw honesty in her eyes. "Yes," she confessed softly. "I had to keep track of everything for the fan-service plan. The past interactions we shared, as well as the future interactions the company had planned."
The weight of the truth settled heavily upon you, and for a moment, the room felt stifling. It was as if the world you had come to know had been turned upside down, revealing a new layer of complexity beneath the surface. But as you looked at Momo, the vulnerability in her expression spoke volumes—a silent admission that while the circumstances may have been manufactured, the emotions that had blossomed between you were as real as ever.
As the weight of the truth settled upon you, a tumult of emotions stirred within your chest. Disappointment mingled with a bittersweet understanding, and the sense of vulnerability you shared with Momo made the moment even more profound. But amidst the confusion and the pain of realizing that certain moments were scripted, you couldn't deny the warmth that still lingered between you two.
When your eyes met Momo's, you could see the genuine remorse and sincerity in her gaze. The silence that hung between you was broken by her soft voice. "I know I messed up," she began, her voice wavering with a mixture of regret and hope. "But please, can you find it in your heart to give me a second chance?"
Your heart wavered as you gazed into her eyes, searching for the truth in her words. Momo's vulnerability was palpable, and you could see the pain she felt for not being completely forthcoming with you. Despite the scripted interactions, you couldn't deny the genuine connection that had grown between you.
Taking a moment to gather your thoughts, you spoke with a mix of caution and sincerity. "Momo, this is a lot to process," you admitted, your voice soft but steady. "I appreciate your honesty now, but I need time to understand my own feelings."
Momo nodded, her gaze never leaving yours. "I understand," she said, her voice filled with understanding. "I'm willing to wait, to give you the time you need. But please know that my feelings for you have always been real."
Days turned into weeks, and amidst the quiet contemplation, you found your thoughts repeatedly returning to Momo. Despite the scripted fan-service, the bond you had formed was unbreakable. You remembered the genuine laughter, the shared dreams, and the way she had been there for you through both triumphs and challenges. It was clear that the emotions you felt for her were just as real as any script could ever dictate.
On a warm August evening, as the two of you found yourselves sharing a quiet moment in the practice room, you looked at Momo, your heart speaking more clearly than ever before. "Momo," you began, your voice filled with a mixture of vulnerability and determination, "I've thought about this a lot, and I've come to realize that what we have is too special to let go."
Momo's eyes widened with hope, her breath catching in anticipation of your next words.
You took a deep breath, your gaze unwavering as you continued, "I want to give us a chance, a real chance, beyond scripts and fan-service. I want to be with you, Momo, not as a performance, but as a partner."
Tears welled up in Momo's eyes, her lips curving into a radiant smile. "Yes," she whispered, her voice filled with emotion. "I've been waiting for this, for us."
In that moment, you closed the distance between you, your heart racing as you cupped her face gently with your hand. With the sincerity of your emotions guiding you, you leaned in, your lips meeting Momo's in a soft and tender kiss.
Time seemed to stand still as your lips brushed against hers—a moment of truth, vulnerability, and shared affection. The scripted interactions may have brought you together, but it was the undeniable chemistry and the depth of your feelings that made this kiss feel like the most genuine moment of all.
As you pulled away, the world around you felt hushed, the energy of your connection palpable. Momo's eyes fluttered open, her gaze locked onto yours with an intensity that mirrored your own.
"This is real, isn't it?" she whispered, her voice tinged with awe.
You smiled gently, your heart full of warmth. "Absolutely real," you affirmed, your voice steady and sincere.
And as you held each other in a quiet embrace, you both knew that this was the beginning of a new chapter—a chapter defined by the authenticity of your emotions, the depth of your connection, and the unwavering truth of your hearts. The scripted interactions had led you here, but it was your shared journey that would guide you forward, hand in hand, into a love story that was truly your own.

STRAY KIDS EXTRA MEMBER AU / JAE-LYNN
> SKZ_FIRST_IMPRESSIONS.PDF
─────────────────────
BANGCHAN
- when jae-lynn and chan first met, she was thirteen and he was fifteen.
- jyp introduced them to each other because he felt like chan would be a good ‘role model’ and help her with her korean
- chan’s first impression of jae :
she appeared to be (very) nervous
he thought she was shy at first, but when she would talk, he actually found her quite funny and charismatic
he knew from the jump that he wanted to always be there for her, and that he wanted to be her friend
SHE WAS SO CLUMSY - awkward but in a cute way
in a way, chan could relate to her nervousness, as he too had left home at a young age to train to become a kpop idol
he thought she seemed very driven and hardworking (and maybe a little hard on herself)
- jae’s first impression of chan :
oOGa BoOGa cUTe BOy 🤪
lol, jae actually recognized chan from the different group dance lessons she’d take up at the company, as well as from wandering the halls and seeing him in passing
she heard his name come up in many conversations, as he was one of the most talented trainees at the time
(many of the girls in her practice groups would gush over him)
at first she was intimidated by him, bc he was MUCH more popular than she was, so she felt like conversations with him must have been ‘off-limits’, bc why would he want to talk to her??
BUT when they first met, his kindness surprised her in the best way (so much so, that at points, she felt like he wasn’t being genuine to her)
in a way she viewed his presence as the light at the end of a REALLY long tunnel - a fresh breath of air
─────────────────────
LEE KNOW
- jae-lynn and lee know first met during a co-ed dance practice a few months before stray kids was formed.
- lee know’s first impression of jae :
he thought she was a confident dancer, but she didn’t take much serious (which lightly annoyed him, but he admired her excitement)
thought her not being able to speak fluent korean was a “red flag”
lee know : ‘yikes... oh well, not my problem 🙄’
he found her cool, but it wasn’t in his main priorities to talk to her
- jae’s first impression of lee know :
she was absolutely floored by his dancing (like her mouth was ajar)
found him to be a little aloof, but she didn’t mind too much, as she could also be like that sometimes
thought he was a very pretty boy and kept on watching him throughout the practice (I mean, could we blame her??)
she low-key hoped that he would mentor her in dancing in the future, because he seemed to be more well trained than she was
(wanted to introduce herself, but was too scared to)
─────────────────────
SEO CHANGBIN
- jae-lynn and changbin first met through chan introducing them at dinner one night - they were both around fifteen/sixteen years old
- changbin’s first impression of jae :
somehow he couldn't believe that the ‘super amazing’ dancer that chan would constantly speak of was the same dorky, clumsy girl that he was eating dinner with
the first time they met, she laughed at something chan had said and the soda that she was drinking shot through her nostrils onto changbin’s shirt
although the girl wasn’t SUPER ‘book smart’, he still found her to be quite bright, and to have creative and interesting thoughts
he really liked her fashion sense (emo jae)
he was pretty entertained by her height (or lack thereof) - he kept on treating her cutely, which annoyed her
he also thought that she was younger than him for the longest time (until her birthday rolled around and she made him call her ‘noona’ for the entire day)
- jae’s first impression of changbin :
to say jae was nervous to meet changbin would be an understatement
but once she got comfortable, she thought he was kind of ‘outwardly intimidating’, but on the inside she knew he was just a weirdo like she was
he was super polite to her, and even offered her his last piece of pork
slightly annoying because he kept on trying to be cute towards her
found him very well-disciplined and hard working
amidst his attempts at aegyo, jae actually found him to be pretty funny, and thought that they had similar senses of humor
─────────────────────
HWANG HYUNJIN
- jae-lynn and hyunjin met when chan brought jae-lynn to her first skz dance meeting predebut
- hyunjin’s first impression of jae :
💞 HEART EYES #1 💞
poor boy fr thought his heard stopped for a second when he first met her
he thought it was so cute how she was kind of shy at first, and immediately wanted to care for her as if she were a baby deer
almost as soon as she walked into the room, he introduced himself and made her feel comfortable
his mind went completely over the fact that she’d be a member of skz, and just went straight to, “ooo new pretty friend”
he found her to be super adorable, and very baby-like
but once she started dancing, he was shocked by her power and ability to dance so confidently
- jae's first impression of hyunjin :
she recognized him from passing him in the halls of the jyp building and when the different groups in the practice room would cross paths
found him to be very pretty (of course), and was honestly kind of confused by how one person could be so attractive
was pleasantly surprised to see that he wasn't JUST his pretty face, but was actually a super amazing dancer and performer too
thought he was immensely fun to be around
she found his kind gesture of welcoming her into the skz line-up to be very heartwarming
(she kinda assumed that he was only nice to her bc she was a girl, but that's another story for another day, I guess)
─────────────────────
HAN JISUNG
- like changbin, jae-lynn and jisung met through chan when they all went out for dinner that one night, she was fifteen/sixteen and he was fourteen.
- jisung's first impression of jae :
💞 HEART EYES #2 💞
while jae is usually the one to be intimated by people, jisung was VERY intimidated by her when they first met
he thought she was absolutely stunning and that her 'My Chemical Romance' shirt looked ravishing on her 😫😫
remembered seeing her at one of jyp's showcases, and thought her dancing and rapping were very impressive
once he got through his nerves and fought away his shyness, he and jae were constantly cracking jokes back and forth
he thought she was the most hilarious person he had ever met in his life
found her being american to be super interesting
lowkey felt like holding her hand ??
- jae's first impression of jisung :
"wow this kid is quiet" - famous last words before all hell broke loose
she thought jisung was very polite, but mostly because he was nervous
she felt like she could relate to him a lot, as her anxiety also peaked around new people
since chan had been talking nonstop about jisung (and changbin) she was excited to finally get to meet
"there is no way that this kid is a rapper"
thought his teenage appearance was super adorable, and created an interesting balance between himself and his rapper persona
once he finally began to open up, she absolutely fell in love with his sense of humor
almost instantly, she wanted to be his friend and hang out more with him
─────────────────────
LEE FELIX
- surprisingly, jae-lynn and felix did NOT meet though chan, but they accidentally met on a gaming chat room about a year before skz was a thing
- felix's first impression of jae :
he thought she was REALLY good at games, and always wanted her to be on his team whenever they played league of legends or any first-person shooter game
thought jae's commentary of whatever they were playing to be hilarious and would butt-in with his own comments
even after they finished their game, they would stay 'on-call' with one another
eventually he found out that she was ALSO a jyp trainee, and his appreciation for her grew more
loved how he could just talk to her about anything without fear of being judged
EVENTUALLY the two met irl and felix has clung to her side since then
found her to be inwardly and outwardly beautiful, and always enjoyed his time with her (both in-game and irl)
- jae's first impression of felix :
"WOW - that's a deep voice 😳👀"
she was super shocked when he told her that he was a '00 liner
wanted to baby him from the start - whenever they played games, she'd tank through so felix wouldn't even have to move a muscle
very much so simp, very much so "noona will do it" energy
thought his australian accent was cool and even mentioned that she had an irl friend who was from australia without knowing that felix already knew chan bc he was also a jyp trainee
liked how he would just call her at random times just to share weird ideas or to tell her about something funny that happened to him during his day
she always thought he was a super sweet boy with the most pure of intentions, and when they met irl her love for the boy became much greater 🥺💓
─────────────────────
KIM SEUNGMIN
- jae says that she met seungmin before they debuted during their back-to-back vocal lessons at the jyp building
- seungmin disagrees and believes that the first time they met was the day skz had their first dance practice meeting, but let's face it, neither would be able to remember even if they tried lol
- seungmin's first impression of jae :
pure confusion
why is she here???
didn't really understand why she was being added to the skz line-up to begin with, but tried to keep out of it and move on
was lowkey kinda nervous bc co-ed kpop groups usually don't sell very well
thought she dressed in very dark clothes, which he didn't necessarily like on her, but he wasn't going to say anything
he was slightly judging her the whole time, mostly because he gave her something to judge her on - not in a mean way, but in a 'do you pass the test to get my respect' type of way.
if he didn't try keeping his walls up around her, he felt like she would actually be super kind to him and be a good older sister type of figure
- jae's first impression of seungmin :
according to jae, when they met at their vocal lessons, seungmin seemed a little nervous, but was humming his practice song under his breath
he gave her a short yet respectful greeting before getting back to work
he seemed to be very well prepared, and honeslty... even back then,, his vocals were SO pretty
his readiness actually made her kind of nervous 😬
found him to appear very mature and handled for his age, and admired it. but at the same time it made her kinda sad cause he also looked super young.
jae thought seungmin was very dedicated and well practiced.
─────────────────────
YANG JEONGIN
- jae and jeongin met at one of the JYPE showcases around one year before stray kids.
- jeongin’s first impression of jae-lynn :
found jae to be so loud, yet she had NO parts in her group performance.
since he was performing in a group with bangchan, he knew that the two trainees were close, so when he watched the performance he kept an eye on her.
thought it was a shame that they didn’t utilize her more in the group choreo / performance.
wondered if there was a reason why they didn’t want her to center often (”maybe she’s a terrible singer, or maybe she hiccups when she tries to dance and rap at the same time, or maybeee she sweats a lot and they don’t want the audience to see or maybe—”)
chan introduced them after the showcase, and they shared a meal with each other.
jeongin found jae to be someone he could feel comfortable around, but still was intimidated by her, because she was an older girl.
- jae-lynn’s first impression of jeongin :
“I didn’t know they were making even babier babies these days!”
SMITTEN. 100%.
found jeongin to be an expressive performer during his group’s showcase performance.
jae heard of him through chan, so, similar to jeongin, she kept an eye on him.
when they were eating dinner after, jeongin seemed super calculated. as if he had to tell himself to smile at times, which kind of pulled him from the group’s conversation.
related to his self-awareness, and gave him much of her attention, creating small talk to keep him present.

have your ramen and cry in it.
genre, feelings. ( talk to me. suffering in silence is futile to growth. ) featuring, cléo, chan, and chan’s terrible spice tolerance.
two hours. two hours spent encased in a glass box with nothing to show for it but her throat run a bit raw and wasted time. the strain in her voice is noticeable but amplified in her own mind. she can feel the weight of her own dissatisfaction hanging heavy on her shoulders, gaze dropped to the floor as a hastily shoved on baseball cap obscures her view.
two hours of his wasted time, too. but he’d never say it to her face. he was too nice. sometimes to a fault.
‘you’ve almost got it!’ his voice crackles in through the speakers and she thinks she nods or does some kind of head jerk to indicate she heard him. her gaze doesn’t move from the floor, her heartbeat thrumming underneath her skin. ‘we’re gonna run it back one more time, alright?’
she wonders if he knows about the whispers she gets when people think nobody’s listening. about the girl who wasn’t talented enough to debut in a ‘proper group’, so jyp stuck her with the ‘experimental one because he didn’t know what to do with her’. that she knows what people say online about her — attention seeking, crybaby, industry whore — and that she spends her nights scrolling through forums instead of getting her hours in. the makeup artists are starting to get frustrated with her, she knows. the boys are starting to get concerned, too. but matter how much she tries to push the negativity aside, it persists like a festering wound against the outskirts of her mind, plaguing even her unconscious hours.
if she really was the ‘golden voice’ of her school, where’s all that talent gone? she sounds like a shattered record lol. my two year old sister can sing better than that. kick her out omg
she probably slept with someone high up to have debuted in that group. and it’s not even like they’re famous anyway so why bother? just seems like a lot of effort going nowhere imo
when is jyp going to stop debuting kids who clearly need to grow up more than sing on stage… did we not learn from sixteen???
honestly glad survival shows exist bc u can really see it’s mostly just looks. yeah she’s pretty but that’s all she’s got going for her. most she’ll get is maybe two years and then a flop acting career.
she’d stewed over that last comment for days. even now, when she’s supposed to be improving, she can’t stop thinking about those comments, despite standing on her little soap box mere hours ago when hyunjin had expressed his own uncertainties. she’d sat there and listened and kept her own nasty swirl of fears buried deep enough, entrusted with someone else’s fears for safekeeping.
hypocrite. but fake it until you hopefully make it, right?
cléo starts back from the top once more, turned away from the eyes seemingly boring into her body on the other side of the glass. trapped, like a caged zoo animal. she’s suddenly glad there aren’t any cameras rolling.
paper clutched in her hands, her voice wavers in the slightest but she’s able to get through most of the lyrics and runs with no trouble. hope crawls a treacherous path from the balls of her feet and up to her heart. arms weak, it snags on any surface it can hold on to; a perfectly pitched riff, a smoothly sung chorus. and just when it finds the light, the end of the song just in reach—
her voice cracks. again, and again, and again.
no matter how many times she insisted on getting that one particular note right, her voice leaves her swiftly without second thought, all her progress depleting. hope trips and tumbles painfully back to the uneven ground. the paper crinkles in her hands, giving way easily from repeating crushing.
cléo takes a shaky breath and blinks back tears of frustration, quickly reaching up to wipe at her eyes under the guise of brushing her hair away from her face. ( she’s not fooling anyone, she knows. ) when she sneaks a look back at outside, she sees no one else in that room but him. her chest cinches painfully.
just as she’s about to try once more, his voice crackles in before she’s able to get a sound out.
‘cléo.’ she hesitates, but turns despite every muscle in her body screaming at her not to.
chan’s expression is unreadable, but she can tell he’s not .. mad. or frustrated, or even pissed. which confuses her because she’s one hundred percent sure he heard every second of her disaster attempt at a recording.
he doesn’t say anything for a moment, staring at her with the same unreadable expression, and her skin itches from being stared at so closely. her gaze falls back to the floor before her eyes squeeze shut to prevent from crying.
‘are you hungry?’
huh? cléo swallows nervously and tries her best to scale her confusion back, absolutely sure he was going to comment on her lackluster abilities. she’s too late in answering what was probably a rhetorical question anyway.
‘man, i’m starved.’ chan then smiles at her through the glass and her eyes slowly begin to sting from the warmth radiating through the barrier. ‘i could probably eat a horse at this rate. let’s go eat, yeah? my treat.’
✶
one convenience-store-and-stray-cat-finding trip later, and cléo finds herself watching in budding amusement as chan tries and fails to act as if his mouth isn’t on fire.
when he’d told her he’d get the two of them whatever she wanted to eat, she’d suggested ramen because it was easy to make and didn’t require a lot of things to cook. besides waiting for the eggs to boil in his tiny little kitchen, the ramen was the best choice of a late night meal.
except .. she hadn’t been clear on how spicy it was. and she paid the price by watching in horror, at first, to see chan’s ears turn bright red — near cartoon-esque — to poorly hidden mirth as he down his second ( third? ) cup of milk while her bottled water remained unopened.
“you’re trying to kill me, i know it,” chan groans weakly, and scoffs loudly when it makes her stifle a laugh. “you’re laughing. i’m seconds away from my deathbed, and you’re laughing. cléo.”
it’s the mention of her name that finally makes her crack, bursting into a fit of giggles that nearly make her fall over in her chair. it brings tears to her eyes out of how weak her body becomes soon after, unlike the tears and sniffling coming from her companion’s lack of a spice tolerance. he puffs out his face in faux anger and it sends her into another round of laughter, clutching her stomach as she pleads for him to stop.
red cheeked but amused by her good mood, chan slowly eases the both of them into amicable conversation, steering clear from her ruined studio session. but the memories coming rolling back in despite his best efforts, and she goes from smiling and laughing to slowly answering with one worded responses, her expression closing shut.
silence hangs in chan’s tiny kitchen. cléo struggles to keep her breathing leveled.
it only takes one look and a gentle toned calling of her name for the first tears to stain her shirt, shoulders hunched up to her ears. her baseball cap long forgotten, she can’t hide from him even if she wanted to. shaking hands still attempting anyway — wiping furiously at tired eyes before his hands slowly pull them away least she hurt herself.
when she looks up at him, trembling nervously, she’s hit with a near painful amount of concern and sadness mixed in his expression. and that’s what hits the final nail in the coffin, her resolve crumbling before she bursts into tears.
chan rubs her back soothingly as it spills out of her without warning, his head resting on top of hers. she tells him about her worst fears, the resentment she held towards herself most of all, and those comments — hundreds of them aimed at her worst moments and badly timed mistakes, magnified by slow cuts and repetition. her fingers curl into his shirt as another horrid sob wracks through her entire body, her tears dissolving into the black fabric of his shirt. she feels him stiffen and her throat closes up, prepared for the worst; for him to agree, since he saw firsthand what they were talking about.
she wouldn’t blame him, honestly. he’d built this group from the ground up. maybe all she was worth was a life resigned to endless training leading to an attempt towards acting. assuming any company would want her once her failed attempts resurfaced.
instead, he hugs her even tighter, his voice firm despite its soft timbre. “we chose you.” her headache bangs the drumline of a death metal song against her skull. “no matter what, we chose you. they only know what’s edited and served to them on a platter.”
she can feel him smiling without seeing it. “stage fright is normal even if you’ve been singing since you were little. you’re only human after all. and what’s a few bad clips compared to getting the chance to debut? you’ll work hard and do better. i know you will.”
cléo’s chest tightens a bit, but not as painfully this time. a small part of her still has doubts, a bit skeptical of his unwavering faith in her. despite it, she allows herself to relax into his hug for as long as she can bear it before she pulls away and awkwardly stares at her lap. “now i feel kind of silly. but, um. thank you for listening.” even if i still don’t understand how much you still believe in me.
“it’s the least i could do when you have clear intent to kill me. one last good deed before i die from heart burn or inflammation or something.”
chan smiles as cléo threatens to swap bowls, wiping a stray tear from the corner of her eye.

DOAH made it into OUTSIDER MEDIA, training with the members of BLUE MOON, though being cut from the final lineup. she was still a well known trainee, however, and many waited for her debut. she, along with LENNIE, participated in OUTSIDER MEDIA’S survival show CHOOSE YOUR PLAYER, but was one of the first eliminated and followed MAISIE to LOVELY RECORDS when she decided to move over to debut in PRISMATIC.

JINJOO gave up on her dream of being an idol, going back to school and going through college. she had almost forgotten about her trainee days when CHLOE KWON, one of her best friends as a trainee under JYP, told her she was creating a girl group and wanted her to be part of it. she accepted and debuted as a member of PRISMATIC.

PRIYA agreed to an audition, not thinking to would go far, but she ended up making it into the company. throughout her time training, she had basically been promised a spot in the company’s upcoming survival show, CHOOSE YOUR PLAYER, though was one of the members that had been pulled out of the lineup in favor of other trainees. in 2022, PRIYA moved from OUTSIDER MEDIA to LOVELY RECORDS in hope that she would finally be able to debut in their upcoming girl group PRISMATIC.

LENNIE quickly became a trainee, though she had little to no training and was pretty slow at picking up the skills she needed to become an idol. still, the company pushed for her to be a member of the survival show CHOOSE YOUR PLAYER, where she was often criticized for being far behind the other trainees in terms of skill. she did manage to place 2ND on the show, which sparked a lot of outrage from viewers with rumors of VOTING MANIPULATION, though it was never proven. still, the company pulled her from the lineup, keeping the group as SIX members instead. in 2022, LENNIE then moved over to LOVELY RECORDS where she became a member in PRISMATIC.

CHLOE offered to try and train her the best she could, though she eventually had to move back to KOREA, leaving CHARLIE to try and teach herself some things. she kept working and auditioning for many companies to no avail and in 2022, when CHLOE opened her own company, she allowed her to come under the company as a trainee. CHLOE had been planning her first girl group as a FIVE membered group, though eventually added CHARLIE to the lineup last minute and she became a member or PRISMATIC.

Bae Iseul (Hangul: 배 이슬), born October 1st of 2001, making her the oldest in the group by two weeks. The singer-songwriter was born and raised in Kobe, Japan until she was thirteen years old, later on moving to Korea alone in order to train under JYP Entertainment (2014 — 2015), Cube Entertainment (2015 — 2017), and finally settling at HYBE Label's BigHit Entertainment (2017 — ongoing) and later on moving to their subsidiary, Belift Lab.
Iseul is fully Korean despite growing up in Japan, consequently being fluent in Japanese and Korean, which gives the group a considerable advantage over their foreign activities with her fellow member Ni-ki. This is not to say that her English skills are lacking, as she most definitely is on her way to becoming fluent in the language thanks to the constant help from her English-speaking members.
The performer has a father, Bae Dongwon, who owns and runs a restaurant in Seoul, previously in Kobe before relocating in 2017, called Kobe Kitchen, specialising in Japanese cuisine specific to the city of Kobe and its surroundings. Many of Iseul's acquaintances and friends have been spotted frequenting the restaurant and thanks to them, the restaurant has had a steadily growing number of loyal customers and excited tourists alike who are curious about their favourite celebrities' most visited hotspots!
Along with a well-known father in the culinary world, Iseul has a younger brother, Bae Inho, who has entered the entertainment scene and stolen our hearts with his role as Han Joonwoo in the hit Netflix show The Atypical Family! Only sixteen years old as of 2024, we are curious to see on what his next steps will be as an actor. There have been a few captured moments that have gone viral among fans of Enhypen of Inho being spotted with the members, so it's clear that he is well-loved by Iseul's group members, not to mention the singer herself posting countless pictures of their time spent together during her off days!
Iseul had been known to the public before her debut as Enhypen and her Instagram account (@ dewbaedrop) had a decent following as well, so she hasn't deleted her account post-debut. As of 2024, she boasts an impressive amount of followers on her personal account, which stands at almost 12M. Her impact as a K-Pop group member and as a solo artist herself is quite noteworthy. Good examples would be her accolades as being a global ambassador for Prada with her fellow Enhypen members, as well as being the first global ambassador for Buccellati in the Korean music world. She was offered to take on the highly revered position in early 2023 and has been working with them ever since. Along with Buccellati, Iseul is the Korean ambassador for another luxury jewelry brand, Chopard.
Iseul has consistently shown her skills and undeniable presence as a performer, but a lesser known fact, perhaps, would be the amount of writing credits she has gathered for herself throughout the years! She officially has 27 registered credits on both Enhypen songs and her own solos, however the number should triple when her label gives her the green light to release her other finished songs. As she was originally a rapper, Iseul finds great pride in having written her own music and is always expressing her desire to contribute more to Enhypen's music as well.
Find out more about Iseul in the next article!

seo hanbi was born as the oldest of two sisters march 20th, 1999 in seoul, south korea. she decided she wanted to become an idol because of her little sister, haena. haena was a huge fan of idol groups, collecting posters and albums. hanbi was heavily influenced by haena’s admiration of idols and decided she wanted to become someone people admired as well.
hanbi was sort of a “famous trainee.” you know, those trainees that the public knows about but why haven’t they debuted yet? yeah, that was hanbi. in 2010, she became a trainee under PLEDIS ENTERTAINMENT, where she only lasted six months. her confidence was low at the time and she feared she wasn’t as good as the older trainees. one year later, she auditioned for CUBE ENTERTAINMENT after being convinced by her younger sister to try again. she would stay at CUBE until 2014 before being transferred to JYP ENTERTAINMENT. while under jyp, she participated in the survival show SIXTEEN. on the show, her placement constantly flipped between major and minor, ultimately leading to her elimination in the final episode, placing 11th. after SIXTEEN ended, she left JYP and what seemed like the idol industry as a whole.
many people believed she had given up on her dream until they saw her on the survival show PRODUCE 48. she entered the show as an independent trainee and made a good impression on viewers and contestants. a notable moment in PRODUCE 48 was hanbi so easily interacted with everyone. she knew a lot of the trainees from the previous companies she trained at, being nicknamed “everyone’s best friend.” unfortunately, hanbi wouldn’t make the debut lineup, as she was eliminated during the third elimination round.
after such a long journey towards her debut, and ultimately failing each time, people once again assumed that hanbi had given up. that was until hanbi popped up out of nowhere as a member of EViE. nobody even knew that hanbi had joined CHROME ENTERTAINMENT; it was never reported. so when they saw hanbi’s debut teaser, fans of hanbi let out the biggest sigh of relief. her addition to the group was probably received the best out of all of the members. people were just happy to see her achieve her dream.

dating history
han jisung of stray kids (june 2022 – may 2023)
they met briefly as jyp trainees in 2015 but never spoke as she had been busy with sixteen and left the same year, but they were reunited in 2021 on a tv program
they had only spoken briefly, but towards the end of the year finally had a proper conversation when she was at the jyp building for a collab with chaeryeong
jisung had liked her since the tv program, so he clumsily asked for her number with the excuse of contacting her so he could show her his studio space
their conversations were strictly music-related at the start, but eventually branched to other topics and even just daily updates about what they were doing at the moment
eventually, he confessed to her in june 2022 and they started dating
although they were both busy, they always found time to talk to each other and hung out when they could
the first few months were great, but after the honeymoon phase ended they started talking less as they got busy with touring and promotions
they tried talking about it but it was clear to both of them that things weren’t going to work out, so they decided to mutually end things in may 2023
there’s no bad blood between them though, and they still occasionally message each other when one of them has a comeback to congratulate them
jung wooyoung of ateez (september 2024 - now)
this was something neither of them ever expected ngl
wooyoung did actually have a brief crush on her before they debuted, but it was so small that he completely forgot about it until san reminded him
hence why he was so surprised when he suddenly developed feelings while they were on the american leg of their ttl tour
he tried ignoring them for a while, but this only resulted in him subconsciously isolating her, eventually leading to a fight
after the fight, he tried to just move on for the group’s sake, while jieun was completely oblivious to his feelings
wooyoung tried making things right by inviting her to hang out together, but this only ended up in his feelings growing stronger
at some point along the way, jieun began to realize that she had started to develop feelings for him too
both of them kept their thoughts to themselves though, despite the fact that they were started to spend even more time together
they both had a bit of awareness regarding their feelings, but it was difficult because they didn’t want to make things awkward for the group
but all the other members, who had been observing them the whole time, just wanted them to get together because they were tired of the obvious romantic tension ever time they looked at each other 😭
this obvious tension but fear of doing anything eventually led to another argument, though it got resolved by the time they went to paris together
on the free day they had, the two spent the entire day exploring the city and ended up on the eiffel tower while the sun was setting, where they decided to make things official :)
they didn’t tell the others right away though, wanting to keep things on the low to make sure things would work out
but both of them knew that no matter what, they were going to fight to make sure things did
