"Dddy is home." Don't ask. He heard this phrase one too many times and has arrived to greet Lynn and her father with a smug look.

The pasta spiraled around her fork fell onto her plate with a splat as Lynn failed to take the bite. The girl was stunned, mouth and eyes left gaping from how Mahito announced his arrival.

Normally, it wasn't something Lynn would bat an eye at and happily engage with- (Much to Junpei's displeasure)- but this territory wasn't something they could prance upon with their usual ribald conduct. They were infront of her father. Her father who knew a very carefully curated and restrained version of Lynn. A Lynn who didn't cuss, a Lynn who stayed in line with only occasional mischief. Someone else entirely.

An act. A lie. All for his own good.

Lynn's muscles cringed and a strangled, distressed sound ebbed from her throat. Her eyes could only bear witness to her father's reaction. His upper lip hitched, mustache arching and brows furrowing with a look that could only say 'what the fuck?'

Honestly, even if Mahito hadn't said what he did he still would've gotten that face. James always pulled that expression when Mahito jumped into his vicinity, it was just a reaction, one he didn't bother to supress.

Lynn was quick as ever to scrub away the filth her love spouted.

"Yhea! He is!" Lynn smiled over her shoulder, but her grin was tense.

Not infront of my dad!

"Dad came to have dinner with me tonight so I made some spaghetti!!"

Nice save. This time.

Still, it didn't stop James from shaking his head in dissaproval.

"Boy ain't right..." He muttered in english before stuffing his mouth with a heaping forkfull of noodles, meat and sauce.

Lynn tossed her dad a small, grumpy look- edges soft.

"Whatcha been doin all day, skinny legs?" Lynn's father asked loudly, his rudeness having an insultingly fake friendliness to it. He spoke in Japanese that time, purposefully skewing and halfassing the words to further affront the weirdo his daughter liked for whatever fucking reason.

Didn't he look proud of himself.

Lynn wilted, wishing her dad wouldn't be so bothersome all the time.

But she said nothing, only able to hope the situation wouldn't worsen. She didn't want to argue with her father today...
