My dad likes to listen to the 1st Wave station on Sirius xm in the car. And every so often, there will be songs that remind me of Starlight Express. Especially since most of the songs are from the 80s and the style of music is similar.

Sweet Dreams are Made of This - Music Video Addict
Music Video Addict: Part One #MTV #videos #musicvideos #newwave #siriusxm1stwave
My name is Laura and I am a music video addict. I remember that wonderful summer of 1981 well. I stayed a few weeks in Pennsylvania with my Dad, even though Mom-ster hated when I stayed there with his family. She especially hated it when I walked down the driveway to visit “Auntie” in her mobile home.  I loved spending time with Auntie – she was funny and we would sit and watch game shows or her…

Okay so aaaages ago...
I was tagged by @polniaczek to list the ten songs that i currently cannot stop listening to and then tag ten people.  And I totally suck and apparently started this months ago and forgot about it and just found it in my drafts now.  Sometimes I disappoint even myself, which-with the bar as low as it is-is really saying something.
While I suck at following up on these its not because I don’t want to!  I’m always thrilled when someone tags me.  I’m just normally REALLY busy or I’m just flighty and forget.
Okay, ten songs (in the end I didn’t make it to ten.  I know: I suck.  We’ve been over this).
...my musical taste actually goes all over the place, but here’s 10 (look at the optimism!)  I’ve been listening to lately.   I’ve been in an 80s mood because I found a new Sirius XM station at work, 1st Wave, that I really like.
  1. Put Your Money on Me by Arcade Fire.  Omg I love this song.  And i have a She Ra fic in my head to this song that I have zero time to write.
  2. Can’t Get There from Here by R.E.M.  Good song!
  3. Patience by The Lumineers.  I actually haven’t listened to this in a couple months, but its such a great piece of music.
  4. Games Without Frontiers by Peter Gabriel.   This music documentary was on about Genesis a couple weeks ago, and they were talking about after Gabriel left Genesis to do his own album Phil Collins-who didn’t have anything to do at the time-said he’d drum for the album.  But Gabriel told him he didn’t want any cymbals on the record, which is pretty unusual..
So I went back and listened to it again, paying attention to the drum track.  And its really incredible.  The guitar track on this is amazing too-especially during the verses.
  5. Get Wild by TM Network.  Okay, like this is my favorite anime song of all time, and they have trailers out for a new City Hunter movie and this song is featured in it (as it should be!)
  6. Creature Comfort by Arcade Fire.  From the same album as Put Your Money on Me.  Sadly, as much as I LOVE these songs, they’re the only songs I really like on the album (’The Suburbs’ is a great song by them too).
 7. A couple of new ones to add to the list: I just heard some songs by this artist Olympia.  Omg she’s awesome.  Check out Hounds and Smoke Signals.  Awesome songs!  The Smoke Signals is a live version they did live for a radio appearance.  Very cool!
Okay that’s 8 songs.  Not too bad, huh?
Wait: 9.  The new Lumineers song Gloria.  Really liked that too.

They Just Don't Write Them Like THAT Anymore
They Just Don’t Write Them Like THAT Anymore
I listen a LOT to Sirius/XM Channel 33, “1st Wave, both online and in the car. It’s the 80’s “alternative” music – Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, Smiths, Police, Violent Femmes, Talking Heads, New Order, Oingo Boingo, Erasure, Ramonex, Fixx, Cult, B-52s, Billy Idol, and so on. While they have an extensive playlist, it’s not infinite. It’s hundreds of songs long, unlike some of the BPM channels that…

I was tagged by @elizabethkween  (thank you, I think?  LOL)
what’s your favourite song(s) to sing/hum? hmm....that’s a tough one.  I can’t think of a particular song that’s got my attention right now, but I’m most prone to singing along with my old ‘80s-90′s alternative favs on the radio in the car - and only when alone.  (Sirius XM’s 1st Wave station is my current addiction)
what are your favourite flowers/trees/plants? peonies, crepe myrtles and hydrangeas; I am only good with outdoor plants that are not dependent on constant care.  I have a pretty black thumb when it comes to indoor plants.
favourite colour(s)? blues, especially aqua/turquoise shades
what do you always doodle (if you ever do)? flowers and bubble letters
how do you take your coffee/tea? If you don’t like those what’s your fav warm drink? coffee - cream, one sugar.  Tea - with honey or with milk and one sugar depending on mood.
favourite candle scent? coffee
sunrise or sunset? sunset
what perfume do you wear if any? none lately - I used to have a honeysuckle one I favored but I can’t remember the name.
what’s your go to dance move when you’re alone? lol I don’t think I have one when I’m alone.  I’ve been known to break out a weird looking 50s twist to embarrass my kids.
favourite quote?  “Here’s to strong women.  May we know them, may we raise them, may we be them.”  (No idea on attribution)
favourite self care thing(s) or routine(s)? Pedicures.  Mother-daughter outings are a staple in warm weather here.  I refuse to wear sandals or flip-flops unless my toes are done.
what colour are your eyes? blue/green/grey depending on the light
what’s your favourite eye colour on others? shades of blue
favourite season? why? summer - because I love to be outdoors and preferably at the beach.
cheek, neck or nose kisses None of the above?  Lips from husband, cheek from everyone else, I guess.
what does your happy place look like? sand and ocean, wine on the beach and a pretty sunset.
favourite breed of dog? corgis
do you ever want to be married? If so what colours would you pick for your wedding theme? I am married - I got married in the summer when I was 26, and the bridesmaids wore a very pale blue and the flowers were pale pink roses/pale blue hydrangeas.  That was as far as I went with a “theme.”
silk or lace? silk
favourite weather? warm and sunny
tagging @nancyjocom @aussieokie @spooniewithtn @jesterbing @aomine-dajki @iloveredmorethanever and anyone else who’d like to do it.

Your streaming info for Friday at the PGA, where there’s no TV until late afternoon for some reason!
Tumblr media
The PGA has an antiquated TV contract so you will only be able to watch on livestreams for the first half of the day.
The PGA Championship went according to plan on Thursday. The big hitters moved up the leaderboard. Most of the world’s top ranked players that have been playing well, played well. And there was no real drama around the course or a particular crescendo of excitement.
Perhaps the biggest surprise was how high the scores were. The prevailing opinion before the tournament was that Bellerive was going to get torn up by the best in the world. The winning score was going to pass 20-under on a wet, soft, target-golf course. Rory McIlroy said no one actually playing the course said this before the championship, but it was a common utterance off the record. The players did not feel threatened by the course or feel it was a mental challenge they needed to scout in any way.
But the scores on Thursday didn’t get out of hand. The low round was a 64, set by Gary Woodland, and the overall averages were above par on both sides of the draw.
1st round scoring Morning wave: 71.3 Afternoon wave: 71.5#PGAChamp
— Justin Ray (@JustinRayGC) August 10, 2018
That was maybe the only unexpected development on a rather procedural day. Friday’s scores could go lower and we could see more manic leaderboard movement now that the field has seen the full course in tournament conditions.
TNT will have the coverage again in the second round, which means there won’t be much coverage in the morning. That’s not an issue on the weekends, when the leaders and important pairings are all out later in the day. But for the first two days at a major, it’s inexcusable. The U.S. Open and British Open are live on TV from the very start. We shouldn’t have to wait until the afternoon for TV at a major when half of the superstars and field are playing in the morning side of the draw.
Only golf could essentially stage a championship where they would essentially be forced to say "Sorry we couldn't show you the three first quarter touchdowns, but here are some other players catching screen passes in the afternoon now that you've joined us." https://t.co/bhnCtcpZqL
— Kevin Van Valkenburg (@KVanValkenburg) August 9, 2018
I went into the disgraceful nature of this current TV arrangement yesterday. The contract runs out next year and here’s hoping we get more modern broadcast windows under the new contract. I would expect it.
It’s not all bad. There will be live streams up and running in the morning. It’s two streams, confined to two featured groups. I also wrote yesterday that I’d prefer to see two groups on one stream, as they do every week on PGA Tour Live. This would limit the fluff time. No one has two separate streams going in two tabs. So you pick one, and then have to suffer through all the down time — the waiting on tees and walks up to the green while shots may be happening in the other featured group. Put two groups on one stream and toggle easily back and forth in the production truck.
It’s a useless complaint, I suppose. This is what we’ve been dealt and I guess it’s good to have any streams at all. With Tiger out in the afternoon wave and playing during that TNT TV window, there should be far less demand for streaming on Friday. Here’s your media schedule for the second round:
Friday’s second round coverage

Online streams
Available on PGA.com and on mobile via PGA Championship and Bleacher Report Live app.
8:30 a.m to 7 p.m. — Featured groups stream 1 — Jordan Spieth / Jon Rahm / Justin Rose

2 to 8 p.m. — TV simulcast stream on WatchTNT, PGA.com and on mobile via PGA Championship and Bleacher Report Live app

Update Your iPods! Check Out These Awesome Anime-inspired tracks from Peter Zimmerman
Tumblr media
One thing that often confuses folks about my musical tastes, is that I am huge into both metal music and 80’s New Wave music. I might wear metal shirts and a patch vest to concerts, but I almost entirely listen to Sirius XM 1st Wave in the car commuting to work. These are two genres that seem to clash a lot, but I can always make it work in my head, and that’s all that matters. In the past few…
