Well, maybe we’ll be more willing to give a manager more time with a rebuild when it’s been 20 years since we last won the league. We’re so entitled we think we can do what City, Liverpool and Arsenal have without doing the work or taking the time; okay, have fun with that. It’s another example of classic club mismanagement. I’ll agree with the critics on this: they shouldn’t have spent the money they did this summer on players if they weren’t going to stand by him through the rough patches. Now another manager is going to come in, they won’t get him any new players unless someone takes our deadwood off our hands, which they won’t and for good reason, and they’ll sack him when the players stop performing again. That’s assuming they even perform for Ruud. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. 😕

There should be no excuses for INEOS, Ratcliffe & his representatives attending the Women's FA Cup final at Wembley.
The game against Arsenal is not going to decide anything for us. The men’s team’s fate has been decided and is done for.
This reeks of biased priorities. Not a good sign at all.

Tot ziens, Erik
Sigh. Another manager bites the dust. Manchester United and Erik Ten Hag have parted ways, following United's 2-1 defeat away to West Ham United in the Premier League.
There's not much to say. The team wasn't performing, the league position is pants, no win in Europe for a year now... it's hard to defend the man.
I will say that I liked Erik, and I really wanted him - like Ole - to succeed. I think the Premier League shocked him a little, because it's a proper knife fight, but I also think that in a team of egos... tactical stubbornness isn't viable.
That's not to say he should concede to player demands, but there's a little leeway in things. The same goes for training intensity - you don't get as many injuries as the team has without overdoing it behind the scenes.
Despite this being our Banter Era and yet another failed managerial appointment, Erik did win both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup in successive seasons. Credit where credit's due in delivering some good memories amidst the chaos.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy will take over in the interim for the Leicester City game in the Carabao Cup and potentially longer, while United decide on the next manager.

The Dilemma of Erik ten Hag's Tenure at Manchester United
The most compelling argument in favor of retaining Erik ten Hag at the end of last season was the notion that he had yet to experience the benefits of an elite sporting structure at Manchester United. If one were to be cheeky, they might argue that he still hasn’t. Fourteen games at the start of the 2024-25 season may hardly qualify as an ‘opportunity,’ especially when elite sporting…

I can see a world where we sack Ten Hag, get Southgate, Leicester pick him up in a heartbeat, and they beat us in qualifying for a European competition. 😬 He’ll take Licha and Malacia with him for sure, leaving us with Magelof at center back again, and only Shaw at left back (assuming Shaw’s even fit). Watch Malacia suddenly stay fit because they’re actually helping him recover.
Second season, if Hojlund doesn’t have a great season under the new manager, he’ll come for him too because he knows that United are used to selling expensive players at a massive loss. That and we probably kept Sancho on his wages so they’ll need to offload to recoup some of their money. They qualify for Champions League while we’re scrambling to qualify for the Europa League…again. Careful what you wish for. 😬

Six Managerial Targets as Erik ten Hag Faces Trial Amid Manchester United Audit
Manchester United seems to have come to terms with the idea that finding a replacement for Erik ten Hag could be a tricky task. Despite his recent success, the team’s management is concerned about the lack of standout options available. In their recent FA Cup semi-final match against Coventry, although United managed to scrape through with a win, it was a close call. Coventry’s comeback from…

Match Review: Galatasaray 3-3 Manchester United
Insert muffled screaming noises.
Mainoo's mint, isn't he? And our goals were nice weren't they? Yeah, Garnacho and Bruno banged in some screamers, and McSauce finished off a proper Ten Hag move.
What do you mean we threw away another Champions League lead? WHAT DO YOU MEAN TWICE IN THE SAME MATCH.
Honestly at this point it's hard to be arsed to do a proper review and discuss the talking points. Our goals were great, theirs were a pisstake, Onana's had a mare in Europe yet again, and the First XI quality just isn't quite there.
It's frustrating that he keeps scoring, because criticising Scott McTominay feels harsh. ETH is realising how he works as a midfielder that's good at duels and goals but shit at passing and positioning to receive the ball. The problem is we have Bruno for the goals and Mainoo/Amrabat/Casemiro (maybe) for the duels. We need ball retention and possession to complement these duties. Our three 'DMs' are more those types - less bruisers and more interceptors that can reclaim a ball and redistribute - but they need someone to hand off to.
Obviously this is where Frenkie de Jong would fit in beautifully, but I do think Mason Mount can - with game time - adapt to this role. He has the creative mind, the stamina, and the technical skillset. Just takes the piss he's had two injuries in a season where if you haven't been injured can you even call yourself a United player?
The problem for me is the stark drop in quality in certain positions. The Maguire-Lindelöf centre-back partnership sucks, it just does. Defensively Maguire's in a good spot at the moment, but passing and awareness are both weak spots for him. He's not alert enough, nor pacey enough, to cope with United's ambition of a high line press game. Nor is Lindelöf strong enough to deal with athletic opponents. He has a great pass on him and we saw that in the build up to Garnacho's wondergoal versus Everton, but if United want to return to the glory days then players like these three have to move on.
Hell, even Andre Onana might be asked to pack his bags after this season if he can't eradicate these random howlers. Some players haven't got the mental strength to handle United. We may not be the best club but we are still one of the biggest. The pressure is always there, the scrutiny, the expectation.
Thankfully, I do think Sir Jim's entrance will start to take these situations by the scruff of the neck. If a pleb like me can spot issues (and can remedy them on FM24 and win the league 😏) then a billionaire with top sporting advisors can too.
Next up Newcastle on Saturday. Pray for a bounce back.

INEOS' insulting axing of Sir Alex Ferguson risks ruining Man Utd's brilliant legacy - but for serial cost-cutter Sir Jim Ratcliffe it makes perfect sense
When Sir Jim Ratcliffe finally completed his minority purchase of Manchester United, supporters took comfort in the knowledge that, after nearly two decades of neglect from the Glazer family, the club was back in the hands of someone who cared deeply for it. Ratcliffe grew up in a council estate in north Manchester, went to Old Trafford as a child – although he struggled to recall which games he…

Sir Jim To The Rescue!
So, Sir Jim it is then. Not quite official just yet but he’s well on the way to becoming Mr. 25% at Manchester United. Reports state that he has coughed up around £1.3bn for the privilege of having the Glazers turn down any of his requests that may, in the slightest possible way, cost them any money or profit. Initially there will be no investment in the facilities, the stadium or paying off any…
