This is the story of the Merfolk Royalty, headed by Lorenzo Sanderson, the King of the Merfolk. Lorenzo, known for his many marriages, has three children: Armando, the oldest, and twins Lloyd and Phoenix. His roving eye has led to a legacy of complicated relationships, a trait mirrored in his sons and grandson, Holden.

As the story begins, Lloyd and Phoenix are packing up to head off to college, filled with excitement and anticipation. Everything seems to be going smoothly until Armando's wife, Katarina, unexpectedly walks in, caring for her youngest daughter Kendra. Lloyd watches Katarina with a longing in his eyes, a secret crush he keeps hidden as the twins prepare for their future.

Now that his youngest two has left the house and with two of the King's grandchildren now teens, Lorenzo decides to bestow patronages upon them. Holden is named the Patron of the Royal Academy of Music, and during their heart-to-heart talk, he shares his practice of a haunting Siren song with his grandfather. Lorenzo is filled with pride as he also grants his granddaughter Madeline the title of Patron of the Starlight Accolades, cherishing their meaningful conversation.

Meanwhile, outside in the moonlight, Armando and Katarina share a flirtatious moment that escalates into a passionate encounter, reigniting old flames despite their rocky relationship.

Just as the night seems to settle into peace, Lorenzo receives a mysterious message from an unknown sender. The words chill him to the bone: “The past has returned to claim what is rightfully theirs.”

With the weight of his family's legacy hanging in the balance and the secrets of the ocean threatening to surface, Lorenzo realizes that everything he knows is about to change.
